Practitioners Hunger Striking at Daqing Detention Center are in Critical Condition


(Clearwisdom.net) On September 23, 2005, police from Daqing City arrested several Dafa practitioners and took them to Daqing Detention Center. Most of them are on hunger strike. At least eight have stopped eating for over 2 weeks. The guards force-feed them daily. Their situation is dire and requires immediate attention.

When the police force-feed practitioners, they are not doing it to help them, but instead use it as a form of torture. For example, a practitioner named Yang Yuhua practiced the Falun Gong exercises in the detention center, so she was force-fed brutally. She died from savage force-feeding on May 12, 2005.

In order to isolate the practitioners from the outside, some practitioners' families did not know their whereabouts even half a month after their arrest.

The practitioners were wearing only thin clothing the day of their arrest, yet the temperature has dropped considerably in the past few days.

Daqing Detention Center requires detention warrants for criminals, but they accept all Falun Gong practitioners without any due legal process or documentation.

We call on international human rights organizations, the World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioners, and people inside and outside China to help rescue the Falun Dafa practitioners illegally held at Daqing Detention Center.
