Stories of Practitioners Who Demonstrate Hearts of Compassion

(Clearwisdom.net) The following are stories about two practitioners that I heard from an elderly practitioner. It is my hope that in the spirit of learning from each other, these stories will help our cultivation.

Practitioner A saw that some of his fellow practitioners were not diligent in their cultivation. Some were distracted, some spent a lot of time playing cards, and some even got involved in abnormal relationships with the opposite sex. Practitioner A was very anxious for these people and organized them to study the Fa together in hopes that it would re-kindle their enthusiasm.

It sounds simple, but I was so touched by this story that tears filled my eyes. Do I have this kind of compassion? What level of compassion do I possess? When I witnessed practitioners who were not diligent in cultivation, I usually felt irritable and often agonized over it. There is definitely a huge disparity between myself and practitioner A on this particular issue.

Practitioner B and his wife are both practitioners. Their combined monthly retirement income is about three thousand yuan. This sum of money is quite substantial for retirees of a middle-class living standard in their particular city, yet the couple lives in a very frugal manner and uses the extra money for the production of truth-clarification materials.

Practitioner B took a train ride of over 30 hours to his hometown to clarify the truth. This over 70 year-old man paid the lowest fare. This meant that he had to sit through the entire journey on a hard bench. There is a supermarket near his home, but he travels a few kilometers to get his vegetables at a cheaper price.

After hearing this, I felt shamed. I would no longer feel I'm doing pretty well in making financial contribution to Fa rectification work.
