The Bitter Experiences of Dafa Practitioners in A Community of Shanghai

Ms. Miao Lihua is about 55 years old. After "April 25, 1999", in order to prevent her from clarifying the truth about Falun Gong, the police imprisoned her in the Jinshan District Mental Hospital and tortured her with electric shock treatment and drug injections. Although she had become healthy after practicing Falun Gong, when she returned home after two months in the mental hospital, she appeared to be in a trance. She was lethargic and slow, her cheeks were swollen and her health suffered. She cannot now stand for more than ten minutes whereas before she did not feel tired even when clarifying the truth outside all day long. In order to fuel the propaganda of the Chinese Communist Party, the Jinshan district newspaper intentionally distorted the facts and said practicing Falun Gong caused Ms Miao to become mentally ill.

Ms. Hu Shunfang is approximately 36 years old. At the end of 1999, in order to prevent her from going to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong, the police imprisoned her in the Jinshan District Mental Hospital. They drugged and electrically shocked her. She was imprisoned close to one month. At the time of the two big Party meetings in 2000, in order to carry out the CCP's order of strict control of Falun Gong practitioners, they imprisoned her in the mental hospital again. She was there for one and half months. In July 2000, because she distributed truth-clarification materials, she was sentenced to three and a half years.

Mr. Gu Guilong is about 45 years old and was a staff member of the Architecture Company of the Petroleum Chemical Industry. After July 20, 1999, because he was not willing to give up practicing Falun Dafa, he was detained for 15 days.

Ms. Wu Yueqin, about 48 years old, is an elementary teacher in the Petroleum Chemical Industry. After July 20, 1999, because she was not willing to give up practicing Falun Dafa, she was detained for 15 days.

Mr. Shi Renmin, about 45 years old, is an engineer at the Sales Department of the Petroleum Chemical Industrial Corporation. After July 20, 1999, because he was not willing to give up practicing Falun Dafa, he was detained for 15 days.

Ms. Yuan Yahui, about 55 years old, is a staff member at the Petroleum Chemical Industrial General Merchandise Company. Because she was not willing to give up practicing Falun Dafa, she was detained twice. The third time she was detained, she was sent to a forced labor camp for one and a half years.

Ms Zhao Genmei, about 44 years old, is a staff member from the Architecture Company of the Petroleum Chemical Industry. Because she was not willing to give up practicing Falun Dafa, she was sent to a forced labor camp twice, each time for two years. She is still imprisoned in the Qingpu Women's Forced Labor Camp in Shanghai.

Ms. Lu Caihua, about 52 years old, is a staff member from the Synthetic Fiber Factory of Petroleum Chemical Industry Ltd. Because she was not willing to give up practicing Falun Dafa, she was sentenced to three years of probation. After the probation expired, she was sent to a forced labor camp for two years. She is imprisoned in the Qingpu Women's Forced Labor Camp in Shanghai.

Ms. Zhang Hongmei, about 30 years old, works at the Haibin Restaurant of the Petroleum Chemical Industry. Because she was not willing to give up practicing Falun Dafa, she was sentenced to three years of probation.

Ms. Yang Jin'e is about 50 years old, and works at the Jinyu market of the Petroleum Chemical Industry. After July 20, 1999, because she was not willing to give up practicing Falun Dafa, she was detained once. The second time she was arrested, she was sentenced to four years.

Ms. Ge Xiaotian is about 47 years old. In November 2000, she was detained and imprisoned in the Jinshan District Lockup. After six months, she was found to be pregnant. They took her to the hospital for a forced abortion against her will. Because the hospital opposed it, only then did she get to keep the baby. After she gave birth to her son, she was sentenced to three years of probation. In 2004, five days before the probation expired, the police arrested her once more and put her in prison. She is imprisoned in the Shanghai Women's Jail (located in Sijing Town, Songjiang).

Ms. Yuan Yaohua, over 60 years old, is a staff member from the Architecture Company of the Petroleum Chemical Industry. After July 20, 1999, because she was not willing to give up practicing Falun Dafa, she was detained for 15 days.

Mr. Yin Yaojun, over 40 years old, is a staff member from the Architecture Company of the Petroleum Chemical Industry. Because he was not willing to give up practicing Falun Dafa, he was arrested and taken to a brainwashing center once, was detained once, and was sent to the forced labor camp for two years. He is imprisoned in the Shanghai Men's Forced Labor Camp.

Mr. Wu Wenming, about 38 years old, is a deputy chief judge at the civil court of the Jinshan District Court. After July 20, 1999, because he was not willing to give up practicing Falun Dafa, he was sentenced to six years. He is still imprisoned in the Shanghai Tilanqiao Jail.

Mr. Huang Huijun, about 39 years old, is a manager of a Private-Operating Company at Zhujing Town, Jinshan District. After July 20, 1999, because he was not willing to give up practicing Falun Dafa, he was sentenced to five years. He is still imprisoned in the Shanghai Tilanqiao Jail.
