Information about the Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioner Pan Gang in Nongan County, Jilin Province

(Clearwisodm.net) For almost a year Falun Gong practitioner Pan Gang has been illegally detained at the Weizigou Forced Labor Camp. Up until the middle of September, his family tried to visit him several times, but the head of the labor camp, Wang Yanwei, refused their requests. Later, they had a short meeting with Pan Gang and discovered that he was placed in a solitary confinement "small cell" and hung up with handcuffs for days at a time. He was severely beaten, and he did not receive the items and money sent by his family.

Mr. Gang is forty-eight and was an employee of the Tax Bureau in Nongan County, Jilin Province. Because he practiced Falun Gong, his job and wages were suspended. Police from the Nongan County Police Department repeatedly and illegally arrested and detained Mr. Gang and sentenced him to forced labor camp terms.

At the Yinmahe Labor Camp in Jiutai City and the Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City, Jilin Province, Mr. Gang was cruelly tortured. The guards broke his front teeth, kicked and broke his ribs and smashed his toenails. He was also hung up, confined in a "small cell" and force-fed. He was kept in a brainwashing center even after his sentence ended.

On February 02, 2004 Pan Gang went to the Nongan County Tax Bureau to ask that he return to work. Police of the 610 Office and Political Security Division accompanied Tax Bureau Director Zhang Yiwen to once more arrest Mr. Gang. He was given a one-year sentence to a forced labor camp at Weizigou, Changchun City.

Members of Pan Gang's family tried to visit him at the labor camp but were stopped at the door. On September 14, a member of his family came to the labor camp to visit Pan Gang, but labor camp head Wang Yanwei punched him and refused his request to visit Pan Gang.

On September 16, Pan Gang's family members reported this illegal behavior to the Changchun Judicial Bureau, Labor Camp Management Division. After many difficulties, they were allowed to visit Pan Gang, separated by a wall. They were allowed to speak only a few sentences through a window and then forced to leave.

From this short talk with Pan Gang, his family learned that he was placed in a small cell and hung up. He was hung until 10 p.m. before being allowed to sleep. This lasted seven to eight days. He was also beaten up by prisoners. All of these were instigated by the director, and the items and money sent by Pan Gang's family members were not received by Pan Gang.
