China Network Communications' Branch in Dalian City Unreasonably Fires Falun Dafa Practitioners

(Clearwisdom.net) In September 2004, the management department of China Network Communications (CNC)'s branch in Dalian City fired Mr. Zhang Guoyu and his spouse Ms. Shen Lian because they practice Falun Gong. The company breached their contract and deducted two years worth of Ms. Shen Lian's salary. Both husband and wife lost their jobs, and they have not received any salary for over a year, causing them tremendous financial difficulties.

Mr. Zhang Guoyu and Ms. Shen Lian started working for CNC in 1996. Through the practice of Falun Gong and following the principles of "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance" in their daily life, they have been in good health and spirit. At work, their dedication and considerate, kind nature have won them many of the company's awards including the "Outstanding Employee" award.

Despite their excellent work record, China Network Communications ' branch in Dalian City still dismissed them just because of their belief.

Mr. Zhang and his wife have appealed to their supervisors at work to reconsider their actions. Instead, their request was ignored and the company tried to cover up its persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. With no other alternatives, Mr. Zhang and Ms. Shen sought legal help according to China's labor laws.

In January of 2005, a lawsuit against CNC's branch in Dalian City was filed at the Gaoxinyuan Labor Court. However, the court turned a blind eye to the facts presented by Mr. Zhang and his wife and ruled in favor of CNC. In May of 2005, both husband and wife filed another lawsuit against CNC at the Zhong Shan District People's Court on grounds of "Infringing upon People's Freedom of Belief and Interfering with Workers' Legal Benefits." However, the court upheld the original verdict. Although their case has been mishandled and dismissed twice, Mr. Zhang and Ms. Shen have filed the case again to the Dalian City Middle Court. Their case is currently being processed.
