A Non-Practitioner Illegally Detained On the Grounds of Helping Falun Gong Practitioners Distribute Truth-Clarification Flyers

During the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) persecution of Falun Gong, more and more people who have consciences and have come to know the truth of Falun Gong, have positioned themselves against the persecution. The CCP is terrified by people's involvement in helping to stop the persecution. Thus the CCP has also persecuted those who support Falun Gong, even though they are not practitioners. The families of these people are suffering the same adversity experienced by practitioners.

Towards the end of April this year, Yang Fengwen, from Yangqing Township of Suixi County, Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province, helped Falun Gong practitioners distribute truth-clarification fliers. Police from the Yangqing Township Police Substation illegally arrested him and took him away. The County Police Station, the County Court, and the County Procuratorate all got involved. Together, they illegally held Yang at the No. 2 County Detention Center for over five months. After that, Yang was transferred to a brainwashing center in the township where they could keep him for as long as they liked.

During this period, they also searched for and interrogated Yang's wife, Pang Juan, who used to suffer from mental illness. She was afraid and ran away from home to avoid further persecution. She didn't dare to come home. Yang and Pang have two sons who are still very young. Now, the boys are uncared for. Pang Juan doesn't know when her husband will be released. Due to anxiety, pressure and depression, Pang Juan's mental illness recurred. Their family was poor before; now, the family's financial situation has worsened because of Pang Juan's illness.

The CCP's persecution of Falun Gong has extended to people who are sympathetic towards practitioners. If everybody kept silent about the evil persecution, China would not have a bright future, but if people can all stand up and join in opposing the persecution, the evil will diminish and finally disappear, and the world will regain peace and justice. We believe more people in China will support Falun Gong and unite to oppose the persecution.
