In 2000, the police from the Laoyazhuang Police Station arrested Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. HaoYuhua for going to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong. She was released after they extorted 3000 yuan from her. In 2001, she was arrested again, this time for distributing truth-clarifying pamphlets. The Laoyazhuang Police Station again extorted 3000 yuan from her and sent her to the Gaoyang Forced Labor Camp for eighteen months. At the end of 2003, she was released. The Laoyazhuang Police Station forcibly took Ms. Gu Yulan to the Shisanli Detention Center because she was unwilling to give up Falun Gong practice. She was released seven days later, after her family paid them 700 yuan.

On October 30, 2005, practitioner Mr. Sun Lilong was severely beaten for doing the sitting meditation on his bed. The beating led to a headache and a pain in his throat when he talked. A labor camp employee spoke out against this injustice. Zhang Jianhua, a disciplinary staff member therefore locked up the labor camp employee in the "strictly managed cell."

Ms. He Lijia has been imprisoned in the Changsha Women's Prison, in Henan Province. She was hung in suspension for such a long time that her hands became too weak for her to lift even a bucket of water. She was forced to work all night and was allowed only one hour of rest at noontime. She lost her intellectual capabilities and became numb to the world. Ms. Yan Hong was persecuted under "strict management" three times. She was forcibly exposed to the scorching sun while being forced to sit on a "one-legged bench." Ms. Chen Chujun was persecuted to the point that she once lost her eyesight, had severe memory loss, and was unable to walk. Prison guards Li Chunhui and Xue Fang used inmates to persecute Dafa practitioners, offering them a reduction in their prison terms in exchange for doing so. Ms. Zou Yunxia was persecuted so severely that she remained unconscious for more than six months.
