Our Child Needs a Father's Love, We Need a Complete Family - a letter to the Police Chief in Guangzhou
By Xie Wenrui
(Clearwisdom.net) I am Xie Wenrui. The officers from the Chigang Police
Station in the Haizhu District, Guangzhou City illegally arrested my
husband and mother-in-law last year. Below is my eyewitness account: On November 22, 2004 at around 10:30 p.m., officer Ruan Peihong from the
Chigang Police Station and Wei Hongqing, a residential committee worker, used
the excuse of checking for fire safety and entered our Feihu Curtain Shop,
located at Yiyuanxi Street. The police officer used the excuse of having to use
the restroom to enter the premises. He then climbed up the wooden stairs and
barged into the attic. He saw my mother-in-law Liu Huaiying reading Falun Gong
books and snatched the books from her. My mother-in-law resisted and tried to
get her books back. In the process she fell down from the attic, struggled to
get up and ran to the middle of the road. The policeman chased after her and
grabbed ahold of her. At the same time, they also arrested my husband Zhu
Rencheng who intervened to stop the police from taking the books away. Mother
and son were forcibly shoved into the police car and driven away. After that, Chigang Police Station officials sent a lot of police and
security guards to guard the front of the shop. At around 10 p.m., they brought
a locksmith to pry the shop door open. They did not show any search warrant, yet
they went ahead and ransacked the shop. They left around 12 midnight. The next
morning, they came again to ransack the shop once more. The shop was in a mess.
They also took away personal items such as our desktop computer and printer.
They did not show us any search warrant, receipts or provide records for
documentation. Thereafter, they sent people to monitor the shop for around a
week. I heard no news of my husband and mother-in-law. I was left all alone with a
two-month-old baby in the freezing winter. My shop was also forced to close and
I had difficulty making ends meet. It was only later, when I received a letter from my husband, that I found out
that both he and his mother were being unlawfully held at the Haizhu Detention
Center. They were incarcerated there until January 22, 2005, when they were sent
to the Guangzhou Province Chatou Women's Forced Labor Camp and Chini Forced
Labor Camp in Huadou. The duration of their lock-up at the detention center
exceeded the number of days allowed under China's Criminal Law. I carried my baby on my back and went around many law firms to inquire about
possible recourse. The reply I got was that the behavior of the police was that
of "knowing the law yet knowingly breaking the law." Item 37 in the People's Republic of China's Constitution states, "The
personal freedom of citizens of the People's Republic of China will not be
violated. Any citizen, without the permission or judgment of the People's
Procuratorate or the decision of the People's Court and administered by the
Police Institution, will not be arrested. Illegal deprivation and restriction of
a citizen's personal freedom are forbidden." Item 39 says, "The residence of a citizen of the People's Republic of
China will not be infringed on. Illegal ransacking and illegal entry into a
citizen's residence are forbidden." But personnel from the Chigang Police Station blatantly broke the country's
constitutional laws and infringed on the rights of the citizens. The books that my mother-in-law was reading teach people to be kind and to
follow the principles of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance," to be
good people. I witnessed first-hand the positive changes in my mother-in-law
after she started practicing Falun Dafa. She became healthy and all her
illnesses went away. Her temper became better and our family was more
harmonious. Why did you arrest such a good person and lock her up in prison? After my mother-in-law was sent to Chatou Forced Labor Camp, the police did
not allow any family members to visit. It was said that a Falun Gong
practitioner who refused to "reform" would not be allowed to see his
or her family members. My mother-in-law experienced benefits and improvement in
her body and mind after practicing Falun Gong. She also became kinder to others.
What else do you expect her to "reform" into? She did not want to
speak untruths and sign any "letter agreeing to reform and not practice
Falun Gong anymore" against her conscience. She is an old lady, yet she was
subjected to such inhuman treatment. My mother-in-law originally came to help me take care of my baby. Yet in less
than one month she was arrested. My husband's health has not been very good in
the forced labor camp. The baby is now almost one year old, yet still does not
know and recognize its father because the father is locked up. Our family's
finances are in bad shape. When the baby is sick, there is no one to help me. In
the middle of the night I had to go alone with the baby to the hospital. Because
I have had to take care of the baby full time I could not continue with the
business. I have lost my source of income. My husband and my mother-in-law are
now in the forced labor camp. One of them was sentenced to one year of forced
labor while the other was sentenced to two and a half years. May I ask: based on
which law was the sentence passed? I appeal to the police chief to process this
case according to the law. My baby needs paternal love and we need a complete family. Citizen: Xie Wenrui August 16, 2005 Background of case: On November 22, 2004, officer Ruan Peihong from the Chigang Police Station

mother Liu Huaiying without any proper legal proceedings. Zhu Rencheng was
