Facts of the Persecution

The arrest of several Dafa practitioners in Yunfu City, Guangdong Province

On September 29, 2005, the Yunfu City government and the police department in Guangdong Province illegally arrested practitioners Yang Hailian, Lai Jiawen, and Chen Shuishi. Mr. Ruan Guihuan and his wife Ms. Ou Zhini were arrested at the same time. Practitioner Ms. Li Shaozhen was arrested late at night on September 29 and was subsequently sent to the Xinxing Detention Center. She was sentenced to two years of forced labor. Her husband Mr. Lai Zhenxian was arrested in Dongwan in February 2002, and was sentenced to three years of forced labor. He is currently being persecuted at the Sanshui Forced Labor Camp. Practitioner Yang Hailian was arrested and is being held at the Yunfu Detention Center with practitioners Lai Jiawen and Ruan Guihuan. Practitioners Yang Hailian, Chen Shuishi and Ms. Ou Zhini were released in the evening on October 6. Lai Jiawen was sentenced to two years of forced labor. On the evening of October 22, the police arrested practitioner Ou Suhong and she is now being held at the Yunfu City Detention Center.

On September 11, 2005 [Chinese lunar calendar], the 610 Office broke into the home of Dafa practitioner Ms. Liu Yaohua from Zhaoyuan City, Shandong Province. Without presenting any ID, they took Ms. Liu to a brainwashing center. They dragged her into a room with no window; and left her handcuffed there for more than ten days in a row. The perpetrators tortured Ms. Liu on a daily basis. They beat her, ground her toes with their hard boots, and hung her up by her handcuffed wrists. She eventually was able to leave, but her current whereabouts are unknown.

The guards at Masanjia Forced Labor Camp persecute and torture Dafa practitioners who refuse to cooperate with their unreasonable demands. Some practitioners are frequently detained in solitary confinement and hung up by their handcuffs; some are shocked with electric batons for doing the Dafa exercises; some are forced to stand for long periods of time for refusing to sit on small stools, and some are beaten for refusing to wear the prison uniform. On April 1, 2005, practitioner Ms. Wang Manli was on the seventh day of a hunger strike, in protest of her unlawful detention. A group of guards pinned her to the ground while one guard sat on her stomach. On January 1, 2004, practitioner Zhang Suxia refused to cooperate with the guards. They dragged her to a solitary confinement cell where it was extremely cold and unbuttoned her clothes. She was bleeding from her lower body and was shivering due to the cold weather. Ms. Zhang was on the brink of death, yet the perpetrators still handcuffed her in solitary confinement for a few days.
