Practitioner Ms. Zhang Lianying Tortured to the Brink of Death at the Tuanhe Dispatch Division in Beijing

(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Zhang Lianying from the Chaoyang District of Beijing was illegally arrested and held for over six months. She continues to face torture in the Tuanhe Dispatch Division under authority of the Beijing Reeducation Administration Bureau. She is in critical condition. Her child is one year old and is still being breast-fed. The following is her story:

Zhang Lianying, 45, is a Beijing native. She is a division official at the China Everbright Group and a registered accountant. Ms. Zhang lived at Room 203, Unit 2, Building 7, Liufang Nanli in Chaoyang District, Beijing. She was illegally arrested on June 14, 2005 for practicing Falun Gong. The perpetrators were from the Xiangheyuan Police Station and from the Chaoyang Police Department. She left her one-year-old child behind at home. On June 30, 2005, Zhang Lianying was unlawfully sentenced to thirty months of forced labor. She was sent to Group 9 of the Tuanhe Dispatch Division in Beijing between August 2005 and mid October 2005, where she was verbally and physically abused and otherwise savagely tortured.

Guard Zhang Dongmei ordered eight inmates to slap Zhang Lianying with flyswatters for over ten hours a day, during which time she was not allowed to use the restroom and had to relieve herself in her pants. She was treated this way even during her menses and was never allowed to wash herself. The guards tied her to a wooden board, and that is where she sleeps for about two hours per day.

Since her arrest on June 14, Zhang Lianying has been holding a hunger strike to protest the persecution. The guards bought tools with the money the family sent for her clothing needs. Due to inhumane abuse, Zhang Lianying sustained scars of varying depths, each about 1.2 inches in length, on her head and face. Her family can barely recognize her. She has difficulty moving her body and sometimes has hallucination episodes. Her eyes bled, her face became deformed and her body was covered in bruises. She asked to go to a hospital for a physical check, but the authorities refused. She appealed many times but did not receive any response. Her life is in danger.

Zhang Lianying's family and friends are demanding an examination by a certified medical expert so she can receive necessary medical treatment. They want to have those who beat her prosecuted and punished according to the law.

Since 1999, Zhang Lianying and her husband have been arrested and illegally detained many times. In 2001, Zhang Lianying was sentenced to two years of forced labor and was brutally tortured. In 2002, she was abducted by National Security Bureau agents and was sent to the Tongzhou Brainwashing Class in Beijing, the Daxing Legal Training Center in Beijing and Beijing Police Hospital, where she was subjected to horrendous mistreatment.

We urgently call on the international community and all kind-hearted people in the world to pay close attention to Zhang Lianying's situation and lend as much help as possible! Please, help her child! Please rescue her so she can return to her family, so the perpetrators can be brought to justice. Let us together end this barbaric persecution as soon as possible.
