(Clearwisdom.net, November 4, 2005) On November 24, 2005, the North San Diego County Chapter of Amnesty International held the 17th Annual Walk for Human Rights. The theme of the event was "Stop Torture Now." Falun Gong practitioner Bin Li from Los Angeles was invited to recount the details of the torture she suffered in a mental hospital and in labor camps in China because she refused to stop practicing Falun Gong. As she recounted her experiences, Ms. Li burst into tears and many in the audience cried as well.

A local newspaper, the North County Times, interviewed Ms. Li. Rob Davis reported that Falun Gong was banned in China in 1999 and that Ms. Li was imprisoned for her belief. She was unlawfully imprisoned three times and sent to a mental hospital once. Electric baton, burning skin, torture and miserable crying... The Oceanside TV station also had a half hour program about the event.

The organizers distributed a poster board and a candle to each participant and asked them to carefully read the text on the poster. Each poster had the name and photo of a victim who was tortured or tortured to death. Several posters carried the picture and details about Ms. Gao Rongrong, a Falun Gong practitioner who was first tortured and later tortured to death in China because she sent a picture of her badly burned face to overseas via the Internet.

Dozens of Falun Gong practitioners from San Diego, Los Angeles and Arizona participated in this event and set up an anti-torture poster exhibit, attracting many people and helping them understand the nature of the persecution.
