Three Falun Gong Practitioners in Shijiazhuang City Sent to Brainwashing Center

(Clearwisdom.net) Approximately one month ago three Falun Gong practitioners from the Shijiazhuang City Armament Engineering Institute, Hebei Province, were arrested. They included Professor Zhou Qinglong, and postdoctoral fellow Mr. Wang Xingui and his wife, who the police had been monitoring because of their belief in "Truth, Compassion and Forbearance." They were detained at the "Hebei Provincial Legal System Education Center," where they were subjected to torture and brainwashing.

The "Hebei Provincial Legal System Education Center" is a brainwashing center that carries out cruel torture. In 2004, associate Professor Li Huiyun from the Hebei Technology University was subjected to many days of torture including sleep deprivation, being struck on the head and burned with cigarettes. The torture was so severe that he became mentally disordered. On August 10, 2004, he was arrested and sent to the Shijiazhuang labor camp where his torture continued.

Since the publication of the Nine commentaries on the Communist Party last year, Dafa practitioners in the Chinese People's Liberation Army Armament Engineering Institute have been tightly controlled. People are always monitoring the doorways. Any outsiders must sign in to be able to enter the Institute.

Professor Zhou Qinglong once publicly spoke in support of Falun Dafa. As a result, he was placed under house arrest at the ammunition depot in the Jingxing mountain area. He was forced to go through brainwashing sessions and was detained for months. In early October of 2000, he wrote to the Institute officials to clarify the truth about Dafa. He was consequently arrested and detained.

On the afternoon of February 22, 2001, the Institute held a so-called "exposing, criticizing and education conference," attended by all teachers and students. In the conference, several army police wearing helmets and carrying guns took Professor Zhou to the conference site and announced that he was sentenced to two years in a labor camp. He was then taken to the 1^st division of the Shijiazhuang labor camp and later transferred to the notorious Gaoyang labor camp .

Professor Zhou's only son is also very determined in cultivating Dafa. He has been detained in Shanxi Province. The authorities have also constantly harassed and threatened Professor Zhou's wife. As a result, her health has deteriorated and she is unable to care for herself. With her son being tortured in Shanxi Province and her husband detained she often is found lying on the cold concrete floor without anyone to care for her. A happy and harmonious family has been broken up simply because of their beliefs. As the weather turns colder, we worry about her, and do not know if she is being cared for properly.

Dr. Wang Xingui and his wife were arrested together, leaving behind a young child who needs care. While his wife is allowed to come home at night to care for the child, Dr. Wang is not allowed to leave the brainwashing center.

A retired worker in the institute, Mr. Wang Zhongshu suffered from various diseases such as high-blood pressure, heart disease, and stomach problems before he started practicing Falun Gong. After he started practicing, all of his illnesses were cured. Since July 20, 1999, when Jiang's regime started persecuting Falun Gong, officials have constantly harassed him, forcing him to promise to give up his belief. They took him to the brainwashing center and put him under house arrest. Under this tremendous pressure, Mr. Wang Zhongshu suddenly had a stroke and passed away.
