Central News Agency Reports on Taiwan Falun Gong Association Protesting the Persecution

(Clearwisdom.net) Taiwan Falun Dafa Association held an annual Falun Gong cultivation experience sharing conference at World Trade Center. More than 7,000 people attended. Zhang Mengye, a classmate of CCP leader Hu Jintao at Tsinghua University, came to the conference to relate his experience being persecuted by the Chinese Communist regime.

According to a Central News Agency report on Dec 24, 2005, Zhang Mengye was an assistant professor at the Guangdong Provincial Electric Power Institute. In 1999, China's then head of state Jiang Zemin and secretary of Central Political and Judiciary Committee Luo Gan initiated the suppression of Falun Gong. Zhang Mengye was among the first group of practitioners targeted by the persecution. He was sentenced to over two years of forced labor where he was subjected to violent beatings and tortured by being hung upside down and having his head being forced into a filthy toilet.

At the experience sharing conference, more than 20 Falun Gong practitioners made speeches, including a lawyer, a teacher, older practitioners in their 70s and young children. Their witnesses showed that practicing Falun Gong has great benefit in improving one's health physically, mentally and spiritually. Zheng Mengye shared how Falun Gong cured his hepatitis and rescued him from a desperate situation.

Director of Falun Dafa Association Chang Ching-hsi expressed that in early 1995, the first Falun Gong practice site was set up in Yangmingshan, Taiwan. He explained how Falun Gong follows the principle of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance," and how the effect is magnificent. The diseases suffered by many practitioners soon disappeared after they began the practice.

He pointed out that there are approximately more than 400,000 practitioners in Taiwan. On each winter and summer vacation, there are school teachers' study camps held at different primary or middle schools. Participants have reached several hundred thousand. He emphasized that Falun Gong activities do not charge fees and that practitioners seek no donations. Falun Gong does not have any religious rituals, and the activities are open to the public and free of charge.
