Young Woman Sentenced to Eight Years in Prison Only Because She Cultivates Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance

(Clearwisdom.net) A young woman from Jincheng, Shanxi Province, who cultivates Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance has been illegally imprisoned and persecuted at the Shanxi Province Yuci City Women's Prison for three years. She is only 22 years old now.

The young girl's name is Wang Shulan. More than three years ago, when she was just 18 years old, she was first illegally sentenced to eight years in prison. Due to persecution in prison, Wang Shulan's eyes have become severely deformed and the pain and soreness of the wounds on her body are unbearable.

Wang Shulan's parents were also sentenced to prison because they practice Falun Dafa. Her mother was sentenced to five years in prison and she is now jailed in Cell Number 4, at the same prison as her daughter. Wang Shulan's father is currently jailed at Shanxi Jinchong Prison where he was sentenced to several years.

Wang Shulan had been illegally arrested and detained twice. In June 2001, 17-year-old Ms. Wang and another young practitioner put up a banner reading, "Falun Dafa is Good" at Tiananmen Square. Later, policemen from the Jincheng City Police Department took her back and held her at the Jincheng City Chengqu Detention Center. When Wang Shulan was first taken to the detention center, her face was glowing with health and she had a perfect complexion. However, after spending several months in detention, she was brutally tortured and she started to display severe symptoms of hyperthyroidism.

Shortly after Ms. Wang was released, she was arrested for the second time in the beginning of 2002 (exact date unknown), as she was turning 18 years old. In order to extort a "confession" from her, policemen used brutal torture methods.

According to reports, policemen took advantage of Wang Shulan's young age and naivety by tagging her beeper number, resulting in the arrest of several Falun Dafa practitioners. Also, they intended to make these arrests the "County's Most Important Case." It was reported that policemen used firearms when they arrested those Falun Dafa practitioners. Among those arrested practitioners, two male practitioners from Zhengzhou were shot in the leg. Afterward, policemen brutally tortured these practitioner by pouring water on them, soaking them, and then shocking them with electric batons.

Wang Shulan was later illegally sentenced to eight years in prison. As of now she is held at the Shanxi Province Yuci City Women's Prison, in Division No. 3. The practitioners who were arrested together with her were all sentenced to more than five years in prison and are also held at Yuci City Women's Prison, where many of them have been brutally tortured.

When Wang Shulan was arrested the second time, her hyperthyroidism symptoms were already very severe and her eyes were seriously deformed to the extent that her eyeballs looked as if they were bulging out of their eye sockets. The pain and soreness of the wounds on her body resulting from brutal torture are still unbearable even now.
