Falun Dafa Practitioner Mr. Ma Wensheng of Qiqihar City Died as a Result of Torture

(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Ma Wensheng from Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province died as a result of torture. He is the second Dafa practitioner to be tortured to death by police in Qiqihar City after dozens of practitioners were arrested in March 2005.

Ma Wensheng was 56 years old and worked at the Tiefeng District Commercial Service Committee People's Barber Shop. He made Falun Dafa truth clarification materials for a long time. At 5:00 p.m. on March 5, 2005, officers from the Zhengyang Police Station in Qiqihar City arrested him, his wife Wang Guizhi and their child.

The police tortured Ma Wensheng with the method known as "the big hang-up" [the "big hang-up" involves handcuffing both hands behind the victim's back, with one hand extended over the shoulder and the other from the lower back. The victim is then suspended with only his or her toes touching the ground. This torture often causes the victim to lose consciousness in a very short time], among other methods. They beat Ma Wensheng until his legs were broken and his body became deformed. Later, they sent him to the No. 1 Detention Center in Qiqihar City.

On the morning of October 20, the police told Ma Wensheng's brother that Ma Wensheng was hospitalized in the Qiqihar City Railroad Hospital. His brother saw an unconscious Ma Wensheng at the hospital. He passed away before his brother could get food and soap, a towel and some other things for him. [Note: In China, the family members of a hospitalized person are expected to provide all daily necessities for the patient.]

The head of the Zhengyang Police Station was just appointed to his post in early 2005, and is extremely cruel in torturing Dafa practitioners. They arrested so many practitioners that the police officers were exhausted and sick of the persecution. It was learned that the head of the Qiqihar City Police Department and the head of the Longsha District Police Department rewarded the officers at the Zhengyang Police Station with watermelons, oranges, Yuxi cigarettes and other items for their persecution efforts.

Perpetrators from the Qiqihar City 610 Office and from the police department arrested more than 60 practitioners in March and April of 2005 and held these practitioners at the No. 1 Detention Center in Qiqihar City. Practitioner Ms. Hao Zhimei, a 61-year-old retired teacher from the Yifu Elementary School in the Jianhua District, Qiqihar City, was arrested on the evening of March 16. She died as a result of the persecution on March 24.
