Falun Gong Student Ms. Wu Yuqin Arrested and Her Husband Beaten to Death by Police in Anshan City, Liaoning Province

(Clearwisdom.net) At the beginning of November 2004, officers from the Qianshan Branch Police Department in Anshan City, Liaoning Province arrested Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wu Yuqin. On November 7, Ms. Wu's husband Mr. Sun Youlin tried to find out her whereabouts and argued with the police officers who were giving him a hard time. He was beaten to death.

At around 1:00 a.m. on November 3, 2004, police officers from the Qianshan Branch Police Department in Anshan City arrived at the homes of Falun Gong practitioners Jin Ying and Ms. Wu Yuqin in five vehicles. Zhang Chengguo, head of the political security section, who participated in the murder of Falun Gong practitioner Fang Decheng, led several officers ransack their homes. Both Jin and Ms. Wu live in the family quarters of the Yanqianshan Iron Mine of the Anshan Steel Factory in Hongtaigou. They were taken to the Qianshan Branch Police Station. The police also arrested three other Falun Gong practitioners at the Yanqianshan Iron Mine on November 5 and 6.

On November 7, Ms. Wu's husband Mr. Sun Youlin, who was not a practitioner, went to the Qianshan Branch Police Department to bring her some winter clothes. The police, however, refused to tell him where she was held. Mr. Sun tried both the No.1 and No. 2 detention centers but did not find his wife. Mr. Sun came back to the branch police department and argued with the police. Zhang Guocheng, head of the political security section, instigated several officers to beat Mr. Sun. It became so violent that they soon beat him to death: there was a hole at the back of his head and burn marks from the electric batons were all over his body.

To cover up the murder, the police sent Mr. Sun's body to the city's Central Hospital. Of course the doctors could not rescue him, because Mr. Sun had been dead for quite some time. The police asked the hospital to issue a certificate stating that Mr. Sun had committed suicide, and the doctors refused. His body was placed in the hospital mortuary.

After killing Mr. Sun, the police came to his home for three consecutive days just to convince his family that the Qianshan Branch Police Department had nothing to do with his death. They also told his family that if they promised not to file an appeal to the higher authorities, the branch department would pay them 80,000 yuan. Meanwhile, they continued to tell Ms. Wu Yuqin that her troubles were not yet over.
