On November 17, 2004, the Yanzhao Evening Post (C.7 edition) published a full page of articles slandering Falun Gong. These articles were selected from the "Hebei Province Anti-cult Award Winning Articles" created by the Hebei Province 610 Office, which has changed its name to "Guard Office." The editor-in-chief is Su Shan, and the column editor is Li Ming. In one of the articles, entitled "The Faded and Fallen Leaves in the Rain" by "Wang Nan from Handan Technology High School," the author claimed his mother divorced his father because she practiced Falun Gong. According to the article, the day following the divorce judgment, the mother supposedly committed suicide along with a few other female practitioners by cutting their stomachs open.

In order to clarify the facts, practitioners in Shijiazhuang City called the Yanzhao Evening Post editorial office and asked to speak to Su Shan and Li Ming. The person that answered the phone claimed, "The newspaper office does not have any contact information for these two people." When the practitioners asked whether the article had been investigated and its authenticity verified, the person replied, "These articles are not ours. The provincial 610 Office arranged to have a full page for their own publications." The newspaper office staff was polite but powerless. An investigation revealed that no such incident as mentioned in the article has occurred in Hebei Province or in China at all. The Hebei Province 610 Office is not only poisoning the minds of young students but also using them and the media to slander Falun Gong.

According to the investigation, the Hebei Province 610 Office concocted the "soliciting articles activity" along with the Hebei Province Education Bureau, the Hebei Province Youth Corps Committee, the Hebei Province Youth Working Committee, the Hebei Province Journalists Association, and the Hebei Province Anti-cult Association. They issued "notices" to relevant departments at all levels in Hebei Province. Some Education Departments, Youth Corps Committees and schools were ordered to collect articles from students. Some schools, such as the Shijiazhuang City No. 41 High School, took it to be a compulsory project for every student. Other schools, such as the Handan Wuan City No. 3 High School, requested every student to write an article about their personal experience. This is how the Hebei Province 610 Office collected so many articles. It then ordered the Hebei Province Journalists' Association to distribute the articles to local newspaper publications, such as the Yanzhao City Post, the Hebei Youth Paper, the Youth Intelligence Development Post and so on. They claimed they wanted to collect the articles to publish a book.

In order to persecute Falun Gong these past few years, the Chinese Communist Party has utilized biased media to fill the minds of the general public with a multitude of lies and slanderous propaganda about Falun Gong. Many children have no objective understanding of what Falun Gong is about, and they do not know the truth. This kind of forced solicitation and distribution of articles contaminates the pure and innocent hearts of children. At the same time it turns them into tools for the slandering and persecution of Falun Gong. The educational community shoulders the important task of educating children. Schools and teachers should be responsible for the children, and they should teach them to not make up lies, to speak based on facts, and to have a clear conscience. Furthermore, they should teach them to distinguish right from wrong and good from evil. How can these educators blindly follow the 610 Office, help a tyrant to do evil, and turn children into persecution tools? The Yanzhao City Post and other media should stick to the facts, fulfill their responsibility to supervise public opinion, and report the real situation in a truthful, objective, and fair manner. How can they forfeit their professional integrity out of fear of the despotic power of the 610 Office and allow themselves to be used as a tool of Jiang's regime? In all previous political struggles, although some people blindly followed and acted violently for a while, they all met their retributions in the end. We hope people can learn from other's mistakes and be forewarned.

In the final moments when Jiang's regime is only lingering on in a steadily worsening condition, the Hebei Province 610 Office still tries to poison the minds of innocent children with their dirty tactics. This is extremely vicious and despicable.
