Human language is not be enough for us to express our respect and gratitude to Master, because what Master teaches us is the fundamental great law of the universe, what Master guides us is the path leading to godhood, and what master has given us is the best in the universe.
The new spring makes us feel the urgency of time, because there are so many things that we need to do. We cannot let down the sentient beings who are waiting for us. The New Year will be a year in which we will completely eliminate the evil factors. It will be full of vitality after the chilly early spring and light will soon breakthrough the darkness. The last-ditch struggle of the evil indicates its final annihilation.

(Clearwisdom.net) The following exposes some of the atrocities against Dafa practitioners in the No. 8 Ward of Heilongjiang Province Women's Prison from the year 2002 to 2004.
Dafa practitioner Ms. Wang Xiulan, 69 years old, has been imprisoned in the women's prison since July 18, 2002. Wang Xiulan was first put in the concentration training team, where several guards and prisoners stripped her naked, and made her squat 5 times for inspection and humiliation. She was imprisoned in the No.1 Team of the No.8 Ward. On September 3, 2002, the No.8 Ward authorities tried to force practitioners to be "reformed" by making them write the Four Statements (similar to the Three Statements). Since Wang refused to write the statements, the guards first slapped her on the face and then forced her to squat on the cement floor outside the workshop door for 24 hours. Later the guards tricked her into putting her fingerprint on the Four Statements, which they had written. The prison also implemented what they refer to as "five people implication," which stipulates that four criminal inmates should monitor each practitioner.
In August 2003, the No.8 Ward held a brainwashing class. They put all the practitioners who they thought would not easily be "reformed" into small cells Other practitioners were locked in rooms where they were beaten by the prisoners. Even when they were outside these rooms, they were beaten by prisoners. The guards used electric batons and other torture instruments to beat practitioners. One of Wang Xiulan's fingers broke and bled profusely and her mouth was swollen due to a vicious beating. At night, guards would tie up all the practitioners with their hands tied behind the back, and not release them until the next morning. When practitioners used the toilet, a prisoner would strip practitioners' pants and not allow the practitioners to wipe themselves afterwards. The practitioners suffered the discomfort of being dirty for as long as 7 days at a time.
Ms. Li Yushu, a practitioner from Amuer in Daxinganling, was put into a small cell around October 2003. The small cells only have one small bed made from a board. Her hands were always in handcuffs, and she was forced to suffer for over 40 days in the cell.
Ms. Wang Jianping, a practitioner from Jiagedaqi, had both her hands stretched out and locked to the window for refusing to do running drills. Practitioner Xie Xiuying's leg was swollen and severely bruised after the torturous running drills.
Ms. Zhang Shuzhen, a practitioner from Daqing, is about 50 years old. Because she refused to have her clothes imprinted with the word "prisoner," the guard instigated the prisoners to beat her, causing severe injuries to her legs and her joints between the legs and hips. She was unable to walk for two months.
Dafa practitioners Ms. Zhang Shuqin from Yichun (about 50 years old), Du Yuling, Ren Shuxian, Piao Yushu, and Wang Hongjie were all hung up in the cell for over 20 days.
The practitioners in the No.8 Ward witnessed how the practitioners from the No.3 Division were forced into the yard and were made to endure tortures in the freezing cold for 5-6 days. They requested the prison to end this torture of these practitioners. After their request was denied, they went on hunger strike for up to 18 days to protest. Because practitioner Liu Yuping shouted, "Falun Dafa is good," a piece of heavy steel board was locked onto her feet shackles to increase her suffering. The board even damaged the cement floor when she walked.
Practitioner Ms. Qu Jie, 60 years old, was from Hegang. In the first half of 2004, the guards did not allow her to meet with her daughter when she came to visit. Then in July, they confiscated her and her cellmates' shopping cards, not allowing them to buy food and other daily consumables. Qu Jie, who suffered high blood pressure and could not bear the torture, died in the bathroom in July 2004.

Xiao Rujian: first instigated prisoners to beat practitioners, and later called for prisoners from each team to beat up practitioners during daily running drills.
(Clearwisdom.net) Qiao Zhongjin and his wife Fu Minling are both practitioners from Jianping County, Liaoning Province. For practicing Falun Gong, Qiao Zhongjin was arrested and detained in Wujiawa Detention Center in Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province and Fu Minling was detained in Masanjia Labor Camp in Liaoning Province.
The couple has two children. Their daughter, Qiao Ruiyue, is 18 years old. She used to study at Jianping County First Middle School and was a very good student. However, she had to drop out of school because both of her parents were detained and lost their jobs. Ruiyue's brother Qiao Guangsheng is only 9 years old and he is a third grader in Songzhangzi Elementary School. Currently, the two children live with their elderly grandparents.
On January 27, 2005, Ruiyue and Guangsheng went to the Wujiawa Detention Center requesting to see their father. However, the police didn't let them see their father. Instead, they kicked them out of the detention center.

The sister and brother refused to leave the detention center. In the evening, the detention center police carried the two children to a police van and detained them in a homeless shelter. They also threatened to jail the sister. The shelter staff wanted to send the children home, and the sister said, "We have no home to go back to. Our parents are both detained."
On January 28, the two children went to the detention center again asking for the release of their father. However, the detention center threatened to send the sister to another detention center. The sister felt helpless so she knocked her head against the wall. The detention center then detained the two children at the homeless shelter again.
Qiao Ruiyue's grandfather requested the release of his son several times, but was rejected every time. He was devastated and as a result, he had a stroke. Now he cannot take care of himself.
(Clearwisdom.net) Gao Xinhui was born on January 21, 1999. Both of her parents and some of her relatives are Falun Gong practitioners. After the persecution of Falun Gong began in July 1999, her parents and relatives have been constantly persecuted. For the past several years, this little girl was not only separated from her parents, but has also been without a stable home environment.
When Xinhui was only three months old, her mother, Shan Lingling, carried her while participating in the "April 25" peaceful appeal by Falun Gong practitioners in Beijing. Shan Lingling was dismissed from her job not long after that. In 2000, her workplace confiscated the apartment assigned to her. As a result, Xinhui became homeless with her parents. In July 2002, Shan Lingling was abducted by the police. In November 2002, Xinhui's grandmother on her father's side was also abducted. Her father continued to live in exile and Xinhui was sent to her uncle's home. Not long after that, on November 9, 2002, her uncle and aunt were both abducted, so little Xinhui and her uncle's child Mingming were sent to her maternal grandmother's home. Because of the unstable life and lack of nutrition, Xinhui had become extremely thin. Her grandmother had difficulty caring for two children. At the end of November 2002, Xinhui was sent to her paternal grandfather's home. While there, Xinhui was often ill and was hospitalized several times. Sometimes she even needed emergency rescue. In November 2003, Xinhui was returned to her maternal grandmother.
In July 2003, Xinhui's father, Gao Jinjun, was kidnapped and was sentenced in December of that year. He was not allowed to see his child. In March 2004, Shan Lingling (Xinhui's mother) was sentenced to eight years in prison and sent to Beijing Women's Prison. Gao Jinjun's mother, Wang Junlan, was sentenced to three years of forced labor and is now detained in Sanshui Women's Labor Camp.

(Clearwisdom.net) To protest his illegal arrest and detention, Falun Gong practitioner Xiong Wenqi from the Putuo District in Shanghai City has been on a hunger strike inside the Tilanqiao Jail for 380 days. At present, he is being kept in isolation, tied to a bed, and allowed no visitors.
Mr. Xiong Wenqi is thirty-three years old. He was an employee at the Industry and Commerce Administration Center in the Putuo District of Shanghai. He started practicing Falun Gong in October 1997. Because he was steadfast and industrious in his work, the evaluation committee at his workplace rated him as an "advanced" performer for three consecutive years. In 1999, when Falun Gong was illegally banned, Xiong Wenqi thought that, as a responsible citizen, he had the obligation to clarify the truth to the government. He started a letter-writing campaign, writing to various government officials and departments to clarify the true facts of Falun Gong based on his personal cultivation experience. The leadership of the Bureau of Industry and Commerce then secretly plotted with the Putuo Public Security Substation to carry out intensive brainwashing on Xiong Wenqi to "re-educate" him.
Mr. Xiong thereupon went to the capital Beijing on December 22, 1999, to appeal for help. When he was illegally sent back to Shanghai, his whole head was swollen and covered with bluish bruises and injuries from beatings. Later, falsely accused of "disrupting social order," he was charged and imprisoned in the Putuo District Detention Center for about a month. At the same time, his place of employment imposed economic sanctions on him. Every month, he was paid only six hundred yuan in wages.
In February 2000, Mr. Xiong Wenqi was sentenced to serve eighteen months of hard labor through re-education. In the face of this vicious persecution, Xiong Wenqi did not cooperate with the authorities. To protest, he initiated a hunger strike for thirty days at the start of his illegal detention. As he was being transferred to the Taopu Public Health Center, the police slackened their surveillance, and Mr. Xiong Wenqi took the opportunity to righteously walk away.
In May 2000, Mr. Xiong was illegally arrested again in Beijing. He was then repatriated to Shanghai for imprisonment. As punishment, his sentencing for re-education through hard labor was extended for an additional two and a half years. Inside Shanghai's Dafeng Labor Camp, Mr. Xiong was brutally tortured physically and mentally by the police. During this torture, his shoulder was seriously injured. He remained on a hunger strike for 122 days to protest the ill treatment, endangering his life. In October 2000, he was released on bail for medical treatment. The authorities did not leave him alone, coming to his home to harass him repeatedly and trying to force him to renounce his belief. Twice he became homeless, moving from place to place to avoid the harassment.
On May 3, 2001, Mr. Xiong Wenqi was illegally arrested for the third time in Shanghai near the Yangpu District. He resolutely refused to comply with the authorities' request to renounce the practice. He continued to protest by going on a hunger strike. Shanghai's Putuo District Detention Center's police inhumanely continued to torture and persecute him almost to the brink of death. Because they were afraid to take responsibility for his death, he was sent to the hospital to receive emergency treatment. The reform police from Yangpu District angrily threatened, "Even if this time you fast for 200 days, don't hope that you will be released!" As soon as Mr. Xiong showed signs of recovery, he was sentenced to four and a half years. He was imprisoned in the Tilanqiao Prison to await further torture and persecution.
Mr. Xiong Wenqi is now in isolation in the Tilanqiao Prison and not allowed visitors. For 24 hours a day, he is handcuffed to a bed, making it impossible for him to take care of his personal hygiene. When the prison bureau chief came for an inspection, he said to Mr. Xiong, "As long as you accept and acknowledge that Falun Gong is (slanderous word omitted), I am prepared to release you unconditionally." Xiong Wenqi did not give in. He refused to renounce his belief and understanding of the truth.
Tilanqiao Prison frequently allows Hong Kong or overseas penal inspection organizations to pay visits to their facility to enhance its public image. However, the closed-door torture and persecution of dissidents has never been revealed to the public. Qu Yanlai, the once acclaimed first prize winner of the national Austrian Chemistry Competition award and the national mathematics award, graduate of Shanghai Jiao Tong University's Energy Engineering Department, and Falun Gong practitioner, is an example of such persecution and torture. Tilanqiao Prison personnel tortured him so severely that he can only lie down or sit in a wheelchair. The torture and persecution turned Qu Yanlai into an invalid.

1. On December 14, 2004, police from the Dehui City Police Station, Jilin Province, broke into practitioner Mr. Zhu Guoyou's house and arrested him and his wife. The police officers also ransacked their home, taking all their valuables including cell phones and over 30,000 yuan in cash. Later, Mr. Zhu escaped using his righteous thoughts, but his wife remains in custody.
2. Mr. Bai Ruisong is a practitioner in his forties. He was sent to the Yinmahe Labor Camp in Jiutai when he went to validate Falun Dafa. He was steadfast in his practice and came out of the labor camp openly and with dignity.
On December 14, 2004, at around 2:30 p.m., more than 20 policemen from the Dehui City Police Station surrounded Mr. Bai's house. They tried to pick his lock but failed, so they used tools to remove his door. Four or five policemen knocked Mr. Bai over and handcuffed his hands behind his back. The police covered his head with a sweater, pushed him into a car, and then ransacked his house. They took 4 cell phones and a landline phone, as well as 1,500 yuan in cash, a motorcycle helmet, and even his daughter's textbooks and empty backpack.
They detained Mr. Bai in the Dehui City Police Station.
3. Mr. Sun Dawei, a 55-year old practitioner from Dehui City learned Falun Dafa in 1996. Before he started practicing he was diagnosed with various kinds of diseases, and he couldn't go a day without medication. Since he started practicing, he underwent huge physical and mental changes. All of his illnesses disappeared. Now, he always conducts himself using the standards of "Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance." People who know him say that he really changed into a genuinely good person.
In September of 1999, Mr. Sun went to appeal to the government to stop the persecution of Falun Gong and was illegally detained at the Dehui City Custody Center. During his detention, he requested the freedom to study the principles of Falun Gong and practice the exercises. In response, the guards cuffed his hands and feet. He was then transferred to the Dehui City Detention Center, and was kept there for over 3 months.
In March of 2000, Mr. Sun attended a local experience sharing conference and was again arrested and sent to the Yinmahe Labor Camp in Jiutai for a year. He was steadfast in his practice and wouldn't give it up, so the labor camp added 7 months to his sentence. He was finally released unconditionally at the end of September 2001.
In April of 2002, the local police once again arrested Mr. Sun because he was writing words relating to Falun Dafa on walls. To protest his persecution, Mr. Sun went on a hunger strike. When he was physically exhausted, the police didn't release him. Instead, they sent him to the Jilin Police Hospital for further persecution, and then afterwards returned him to the Yinmahe Labor Camp. He was on a hunger strike for over 90 days while in the labor camp. He was just skin and bones, and very near death. His blood pressure was very low, and the doctor couldn't even find a vein for an injection. The labor camp staff thought that he wouldn't make it, and in order to avoid responsibility in case he died, they contacted his family members to take him home.
When Mr. Sun returned home, he had a miraculous recovery. Under the care of his family, he quickly became healthy again. On April 10, 2004, policemen from the local political committee surrounded Mr. Sun and practitioners Wang Di and Zhao Jianjuan in their temporary residence. The police sealed the exits and smashed down the doors. To avoid capture, they jumped from a 5th floor window. Mr. Sun broke a rib and sustained injury to his head. The police sent him to the Jilin Police Hospital and continued to persecute him. A few months later Mr. Sun walked away openly and with dignity using his righteous thoughts.
Around 2:00 p.m. on December 14, 2004, when Mr. Sun was making a phone call in Dehui City to his family, a group of police officers arrested him. They took his money and cell phone. They tore his pants and took him away to the police station. Later, they sent him to the detention center and detained him there.
4. Ms. Ma Chunli is a practitioner in her 30s. Although she was pregnant and it was close to her due day, in October 1999 she went to Beijing to validate Falun Dafa. When she came back her husband, Mr. Sun Qian started practicing.
Their son Sun Mingyuan is now 5 years old. Due to the Jiang's regime's persecution he hasn't been able to see his parents since he was 3-years-old. The persecutors sent Ms. Ma to the Hezuizi Labor Camp. She went on a hunger strike to protest her persecution, and she returned home after a few days. However, she had to leave home to avoid recapture. The police arrested Mr. Sun Qian when he was walking down the street and sent him to a labor camp for 12 years. He is being tortured at the Jilin City Second Prison. The guards used a torture method called the "stretch bed." They tied him to a bed stretching all four of his limbs. The torture tore all the muscles in his limbs and left him handicapped.
On December 14, 2004, the police found Ms. Ma, put her into a big black plastic bag, and took her to the police station. She has been on a hunger strike for 7 days, and it has become life threatening.
We hope that those who read this news will help send forth righteous thoughts to eliminate all the evil in the other dimension that participates in the persecution of Dehui City practitioners.
At the same time we sincerely hope all practitioners and family members who can, go to the related departments (the Jilin Province committee, Jilin congress representatives, the Jilin Province government, the Jilin Province Disciplinary Inspection Committee, the Jilin Province Procuratorate, the city committee, City Hall, the city disciplinary inspection committee, the city Procuratorate, the city police station and various police departments and detention centers) to get back our family members!
(Clearwisdom.net) Yitong County is less than thirty miles from Changchun, the capital of Jilin Province. Prior to July 20 1999, when the persecution of Falun Gong began, there were over 1000 Falun Gong practitioners in the area. Since the onset of the persecution, eight practitioners have been illegally sentenced to prison terms, over 150 practitioners have been sent to forced labor camps, and two practitioners have been tortured to death. Police have exhorted over one million yuan from practitioners' relatives.
Mr. Liu Wen worked at the Logistics and Sales Department of the Yitong County Cashmere Factory. As a Falun Dafa practitioner, Mr. Liu endured much persecution. He has been illegally detained in the Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp and in brainwashing classes.
On August 27, 2002, police abducted Liu from work and took him to a brainwashing "class" sponsored by the Yitong County Police Station and the local 610 Office. Ma Gang, the former head of the Politics and Security Department at the police station, is currently the head of the National Security branch. Ma supervised the brainwashing. The police abducted seven other practitioners and forced them to attend the class, including Mr. Zheng Lin, Mr. Liu Wen, Ms. Chen Yuxia, and Mr. Zhang Zhen.
At midnight, Liu Wen and three other practitioners tried to escape from the brainwashing class by climbing over a wall. Malicious guards opened fire on them. Fortunately, the four hid in a corner and fled unscathed. The guards said to one another "The practitioners must have been shot dead." The guards then returned to the brainwashing class without checking how severely the practitioners were injured. They have no humanity and carelessly dismissed a possible killing.
Later, the four practitioners were abducted and taken to the Yitong County Police Station. Some vicious officers beat Ms. Chen Yuxia with a square wooden club until she spit up blood. Her family was forced to pay ten thousand yuan in "bail." Liu Wen has been detained in the Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp since that time.

NEW YORK - Across Europe and North America, people received coordinated waves of pre-recorded phone calls on Sunday. The content defames Falun Gong, in both English and Chinese language.
"This is harassment, it's a provocative act," said Falun Dafa Infocenter spokesperson Erping Zhang, who personally received six of the calls.
The Epoch Times first learned of the calls in Europe. People in Austria, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Holland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Russia, Sweden, and Switzerland all reported the calls.
In the U.S., people in the New York metropolitan area received calls at approximately 10:45 a.m. EST, 2:30 p.m. EST, and 3:00 p.m. EST. People in California and eastern Canada also received the calls.
"This is a message spreading lies of the Chinese communist regime, and stirring up hatred," said Li Li of New Jersey, who received six calls Sunday.
A main point of the recorded messages is the so-called self-immolation incident of four years ago. A small group of people were set on fire in Tiananmen Square in Beijing on January 23, 2001, an incident that was immediately used by the state-controlled media in China in attempts to damage the image of Falun Gong.
Non-governmental organizations have labeled the incident a hoax. Falun Gong teachings forbid killing of any kind, including suicide. People in China have no access to either the original teachings of Falun Gong, or to free media, so they are not aware of the inconsistencies in the communist-controlled media portrayals of Falun Gong and the self-immolation incident.
Public confusion in China over the incident has enabled the communist party to continue its lethal campaign of propaganda and torture against Falun Gong. The faluninfo.net website of the Falun Dafa Infocenter reports that more than 1300 people are confirmed dead in the campaign, but the actual number could be ten or 100 times that. International attorneys have categorized the campaign against Falun Gong as genocide.

On November 5th, 2004, Chen Aili was tortured to death by Chinese authorities in Hebei province, China. He had been in detention for four months because he refused to stop practicing the Falun Gong meditation practice, which the government had outlawed.
In September, 2001, his twin brother Chen Aizhong was also tortured to death in a forced labor camp for practicing Falun Gong. Their younger sister Chen Hongping, also a student of Falun Gong, died on March 5, 2003 in the Gaoyang Forced Labor Camp, Hebei Province. Their only remaining sibling, Shulan, is currently being detained in a forced labor camp in Beijing for practicing Falun Gong, and her daughter is orphaned in a nursery. The siblings' elderly mother was tortured close to death by police because she too refused to renounce her belief in the spiritual discipline.
Chen Aili's is only one among the 213 deaths of Falun Gong practitioners due to persecution that has been reported in just the last three months. The number of persecution deaths of Falun Gong practitioners has been rising sharply in recent months, but many of the deaths occurred years ago and until now have not been able to leak out of China's borders.
In July 1999, China's then-president decreed that "the Communist Party must defeat Falun Gong"--a spiritual practice which had reportedly become more popular than the Communist Party. It is widely believed that the president saw Falun Gong as a threat to his power or to the atheist ideology of the state.
Falun Gong advocates moral living through the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance and involves meditation and exercise. It grew in popularity in China since the early 1990s, spreading by word-of-mouth across the country and backed by millions of stories of improved health and peace of mind.
In the months following July 1999, the world first learned of the devastating human toll of China's ban on the meditation practice. Gruesome reports of state-sanctioned violence began to creep out of the country, as Chinese police had allegedly been told that "no measures were too excessive" to wipe out Falun Gong, and that deaths resulting from prolonged torture would be documented as suicide or deaths by natural causes.
One of the first stories to grab the world's attention was that of a 58-year-old grandmother named Chen Zixiu (no relation to Chen Aili). Ms. Chen began practicing Falun Gong before the persecution began, and experienced improved health and a more positive world view as a result. In 2001, The Wall Street Journal reported that she had been arrested and detained numerous times because she intended to travel to Beijing to ask the government to re-think its ban on Falun Gong. On the last occasion, she was beaten and shocked with cattle prods as prison guards attempted to force her into recanting her belief and to promise not to petition the government about Falun Gong anymore. She quietly refused. The guards made her run barefoot through the snow. She collapsed, and never regained consciousness.
When Ms. Chen's daughter went to see her mother's body for the last time, she saw her that mother's ear was swollen and blue. Her teeth were broken, and six-inch welts streaked across her back, reported the Wall Street Journal. Police told Ms. Chen's daughter that she died of a heart attack, and the body was cremated. When Ms. Chen's daughter alleged that police had beaten her mother to death, she too was sentenced to jail for "distorting facts and disturbing social order."
Since Ms. Chen's death, Beijing has continued to heighten control over information to keep news of the persecution from leaking to the outside world. Some Falun Gong adherents or their families who try to post information about the persecution they've witnessed on the internet have been charged with "leaking state secrets" and imprisoned.
In late 2001, then, when the recorded death toll of Falun Gong practitioners due to persecution was still under 400, sources inside the Chinese government reported that the actual number was as high as 1600.
As of February 1st, the recorded death toll has reached over 1320 and continues to rise. According to Chinese government sources, the death toll may now be closer to 7000.

Jiang Sued in Chicago
Jiang Zemin was served with this lawsuit, through his bodyguards, on October 22, 2002, during a visit to Chicago. At the time, Jiang was China's paramount leader, serving simultaneously as the General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party, the President of the government of China, and the head of China's armed forces. Jiang was succeeded by Hu Jintao as President on March 15, 2003, making Jiang a former head of state.
Neither Jiang Zemin nor any counsel for him has appeared in court to answer the Falun Gong practitioners' suit. In pleadings before the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, the U.S. Department of Justice in the guise of a friend of the court requested the dismissal of this case, arguing that heads of state and former heads of state are immune from prosecution.
In September 2003 the District Court dismissed the suit, and the plaintiffs appealed to the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago. That court heard oral arguments in May 2004, and then upheld the District Court's dismissal of the case in a decision in September 2004.
"Jus Cogens" Violations Have a Special Status
The Falun Gong practitioners are asking the Supreme Court to return the case to the District Court in which it began and to ask the District Court to rule on the defendant's responsibility for the acts he is alleged to have perpetrated against Falun Gong.
At issue in the appeal is whether former heads of state such as Jiang Zemin are entitled to claim head-of-state immunity, the protection offered by international law to heads of state against suits brought against them. The brief argues that whether former heads of state are entitled to immunity in some instances, they are not entitled to immunity for actions that are beyond their official authority (ultra vires) or that violate jus cogens standards of international law.
The key argument regards the status of the crimes Jiang is charged with. According to U.S. legal precedents and international law, torture, crimes against humanity and genocide are regarded as violations of jus cogens norms. Such norms are considered to be the foundation for the most basic rules of law, and for civilization itself. Violation of these norms is therefore thought to be qualitatively different than other kinds of criminal conduct.
The Falun Gong brief cites many Circuit Court decisions from other than the 7th Circuit in Chicago that have denied immunity to former heads of state and former officials for such violations. One case cited describes violations of jus cogens as different by virtue of the "depths of depravity the conduct encompasses, the often countless toll of human suffering the misdeeds inflict upon their victims, and the consequential disruption of the domestic and international order they produce." The underlying justification for revoking immunity for officials who violate jus cogens norms of international law is that a sovereign state cannot defend these acts as official, legitimate functions of the state.
According to the Falun Gong brief, "the Seventh Circuit's decision stands alone among the circuits in holding that acts of torture and other jus cogens violations of a former head of state or foreign official can be considered protected and immune acts. The decision is unprecedented. Left undisturbed it will undermine the legislative intent of important congressional legislation."
Sometime in the next few months the Supreme Court will decide whether to hear this case.

I have witnessed many depraved people persecute Falun Gong practitioners. However, I also found that many of the staff started to learn the truth and were moved by the power of Dafa. They began to realize that they should treat Dafa practitioners well, so that they could have a bright future.
Sometime during the early half of 2000, I was arrested when I went to Tiananmen Square to raise a banner to validate Falun Dafa. People were sent from my work unit and the security office, together with local police, to take me back to my hometown. My hometown province had an office in Beijing, and one police officer from there came to talk with my child alone. He wanted to know why there were so many practitioners from all over the country coming to Beijing and risking their lives to appeal for Falun Gong. As my child started to talk about a few things, the young policeman was moved to tears. The security guards from that office who were in charge of watching over practitioners completely understood the truth of Falun Gong and treated practitioners very well. As a result of their kindness towards Dafa practitioners, they received rebukes from other staff.
The communist party General Secretary at my work unit also came to gradually learn the truth about Dafa. We have been colleagues for many years, and he already knew that we were good people. Nevertheless, officials like him started to develop negative feelings towards Dafa because of pressure from upper-level management and the influence of media propaganda and lies. During the Spring Festival of 2003, my work unit gave each employee a New Year's present; I was the only one that was skipped. Since I am a cultivator, I didn't pay any special attention to this. Later, the manager of my work unit went to Canada to visit his family, and he personally witnessed the wide spread of Dafa there. The manager called the party secretary at 12:00 a.m. and told him, "Falun Dafa is really good!" The manager also asked him to take care of me. The general secretary was so surprised. Early the next morning, he stood in front of the entrance of a supermarket. As soon as the door was opened, he rushed inside and bought rice and cakes. He brought them to me for the celebration of the New Year festival.
A certain director from the community office of comprehensive security management once dealt with the Falun Gong issue. At first, he mistakenly believed the Communist Party lies against Falun Gong. He would ask us not to go outside and to just do the exercises at home. After he attended a training session to learn how to persecute Falun Gong, he completely realized how wicked this persecution is. This director once privately visited my home and hinted to me that I should be cautious about my safety. Officials who visited Falun Gong practitioners were required to take officials from different departments with them so that they could monitor each other. The director gave us a day's advance warning when he learned that we were about to be sent to brainwashing centers. This made it possible for every one of us to escape. Later on, I met him several times again, and he appeared full of good spirits.
The 610 Office director made numerous slanderous statements about Falun Gong. There was another director of the same security office who was a conscientious person. We learned that he had tried to help practitioners under his jurisdiction many times. He once said to the 610 Office director, "This Falun Gong practitioner's parents are now in their seventies, and they need to be taken care of. You people just go ahead and arrest the practitioner. Don't you realize how people will regard us once they know what we have done?" This same director had also been instrumental in having several illegally detained practitioners returned home. When certain depraved officials planned to arrest me again and send me to the brainwashing center, he publicly defended me in a meeting. He said many good things about me. The 610 Office director shouted loudly at the scene, "I've known for a long time that you are a traitor to the Communist Party!" As a matter of fact, the Communist Party lost its public appeal a long time ago.
When I was detained in a forced labor camp, I wrote a letter to the same director mentioned in the above paragraph. I told him about the truth of Falun Gong, and, under protection from our Teacher, that letter successfully got through the censorship of the labor camp. After I was released from the camp, I learned that the director did receive the letter. Not only did he read through the letter very carefully, but he also passed it to all of his staff members. Many of his staff members began to have a much clearer understanding of Falun Dafa. They were very friendly to me.
Prior to my illegal prison sentencing, I was held in a detention center. Two young officers from the local police station came to interrogate me. They were very friendly to me. One of them was extremely angry when he learned that I had been persecuted so inhumanly. He asked me if I wanted to contact a lawyer and said he could help me do that. He even left me with his name and said to contact him if I needed to.
After my prison term ended, I was illegally detained in a brainwashing center. The other police officer, who had interrogated me before, came to visit me during my detention. He told the guards that he happened to come across the center during his patrol duty. From his words, I learned that the other officer, who had left his name with me, had already quit his police job. He just couldn't put up with such treatment of Falun Gong practitioners. The officer also told me, in a voice of deep regret, that it was the 610 Office that had initiated my arrest. He said that the 610 Office was on a completely different path from him.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all those people in China who have learned the truth about Dafa and have even gone forth to actively protect and help Falun Gong practitioners. I wish them all the best. Springtime is really not far away. Falun Dafa will eventually show to the whole world all the most beautiful scenes. Every kind, righteous and brave living being will gain perpetual happiness because of Dafa. You are also included, my awakening friend!

A Veteran Policeman: "The Self-immolation Incident Was Faked"
While talking about the truth of Falun Gong to one of my relatives, a veteran policeman who just finished his service with the Beijing Police Force, told me, "The Chinese Communist Party is truly very dark. Whenever there was any conflict in my troop, the only solution was to fight and beat each other. Veteran police officers beating or extorting money from newer officers is regarded as a very normal thing. During the Chinese New Year of 2004, Falun Gong banners and flyers were hung or posted in our headquarters compound. The chief officers ordered that three layers of sentries be stationed around the police headquarters. The officers posted on the two outermost perimeters were dressed in plainclothes while police on the inside perimeter were in uniform. Police sentries were posted 24 hours a day during the entire first month of the new year. They were responsible for questioning all visitors and police officers, in order to catch Falun Gong practitioners."
He also said, "Sentries in Tiananmen Square were set up in the same way. Three circles of sentries were stationed. The police officers stationed on the outside and inside perimeters were uniformed, while officers in the middle were dressed in plainclothes. The number of policemen in plainclothes exceeded the numbers of visitors on the Square every day. It would be absolutely impossible for a person to have enough time to sit down, get into the lotus position [both legs crossed, one on top of the other], pour gasoline on oneself, then drink gasoline. They would not have the time or opportunity to act in this way on Tiananmen Square because as soon as they sat down, 7 or 8 plainclothes policemen would have appeared in front of them and dragged them to police cars. Those people who looked honest and well behaved were unable to pass the second perimeter of sentries. Police officers who have served as sentries on Tiananmen Square don't need to have the truth [of the self-immolation incident] explained to them; being aware of how sentries are arranged by their superior officers, they all understand that the self-immolation was faked."
Former 610 Office Staff Member: "I Believe You, Not Them"
One day, I met a former staff member of the 610 Office on a bus in Guangzhou. After I greeted him, he told me that he had left his position at the 610 Office. He said, "I believe you, not them." I was very happy that he was able to understand the truth of Falun Gong.
A Staff Member of the Section of Public Security Protects Falun Dafa Books
After July 1999, when Jiang's regime started its brutal persecution of Falun Gong, a staff member from the Section of Public Security in Panjing City, under pressure from his superior officers, went to a practitioner's home to search his personal belongs. He found many Dafa books. The practitioner told him, "These books are very precious. You can't take them away." This staff member told the practitioner in private, "I'll keep these books temporarily. I'll protect them for you and return them to you later."
Later on, when the practitioner met the staff member again, he asked, "Where are those books?" The staff member said, "They are in my home. Would you please come to my house to retrieve them?"
The practitioner went to the staff member's home. His wife warmly welcomed the practitioner and returned all the Dafa books to him without any loss or damage.
(Clearwisdom.net) I was a Buddhist originally and had a chance to learn Falun Dafa in 2001. After beginning cultivation practice I eagerly read the Fa. There were times when it was very difficult to get Teacher's articles. I worked day and night to hand-copy Zhuan Falun and Teacher's other articles so fellow practitioners would not be without them. I felt the miracle of Dafa. My mind suddenly became calm and previous attachments to fame, material benefits, and anger suddenly disappeared. My mood was lighthearted and my body felt light and nimble. I could go up and down stairs like a young person. Sometimes, when I sat to meditate or send forth righteous thoughts, I felt Teacher was helping me. I would feel my Falun rotating, causing my whole body to rotate also.
In August 2001, Teacher told us in his "Fa-Rectification Period Dafa Disciples" article,
"A Dafa disciple who fails to achieve the effect of safeguarding and upholding Dafa has no way of reaching Consummation, because your cultivation is different from that of the past and the future."
I started to learn Falun Dafa after the persecution. At that time, Teacher did not specifically request new practitioners to clarify the truth. Veteran practitioners were concerned that the new practitioners would not develop a strong foundation. Some of the new practitioners also had this concern. However, I knew that if I were determined to cultivate Falun Dafa, I should keep in step with Teacher. Since I learned Falun Dafa later than others, I should not fall behind and should go forth in validating the Fa. Therefore, I enthusiastically distributed truth-clarification materials and VCDs with veteran practitioners and clarified the truth to acquaintances and friends. In addition to sending forth righteous thoughts, studying the Fa, and doing exercises at home, I also wrote letters to clarify the truth.
After a period of time, I felt I was moving along in cultivation at an "up and down" pace. I always had interference while studying the Fa and doing the exercises, and I could not break through this. It seemed like a wall was blocking me. I thought deeply about how to break through this wall and dissolve myself into Dafa. That cultivation state continued until this year. I began to add this thought while sending forth righteous thoughts and clearing my mind: "I am our magnificent Teacher's disciple, a particle of Dafa, a Fa-Rectification period Dafa disciple and a guardian angel of the new universe." Suddenly I realized I must ask myself: "Have I let go of attachments? Do I have enough mighty virtue? Have I been striving forward in cultivation diligently?" The requirements that Teacher has for Fa-Rectification period Dafa disciples are higher and higher! I even had the wrong understanding of doing the three things well for Dafa and Teacher. Isn't that wrong fundamentally?
I read the article "Fa-Rectification Period Dafa Disciples" repeatedly. Teacher said,
"If during this period you cannot do well with what you should do, this Consummation stage can only be a cultivation process, and it cannot fundamentally be a Fa-rectification disciple's true and final Consummation."
Teacher clearly pointed out my existing problem. I was truly ashamed of myself and my cultivation state. I not only had attachments of "selfishness" and "egotism" but was also pursuing consummation, had a self-satisfied heart, thought myself good, and so on. I now understand and realize that I was in danger. Teacher always leads us and reminds us to walk righteously at all times. After clearing away interference and attachments, I was able to pay more attention to Fa study and gradually the bad state disappeared.
Dafa at higher levels has higher standards for Dafa practitioners. Teacher told us in "Let Go of Human Attachments and Save the World's People" that,
"For a Fa-rectification period Dafa disciple, personal liberation is not the goal of cultivation: when you came, saving sentient beings was your great aspiration, and that is the responsibility and mission history has bestowed upon you in Fa-rectification. Thus great numbers of beings are to be saved by you. Dafa disciples, don't forsake the magnificent responsibility that has been bestowed upon you in Fa-rectification, and even less should you disappoint those beings, as you are now their only hope for entering the future. For this reason, all Dafa disciples, students both new and veteran, should get to work and begin comprehensively clarifying the truth."
I will diligently do well the three things Dafa disciples are supposed to do. I will also cultivate my xinxing and let go of attachments, especially the attachments of suspiciousness and shyness with strangers while clarifying the truth. I will have righteous thoughts and righteous actions and be a qualified Dafa practitioner in the Fa-rectification period.
(Clearwisdom.net) It was in late 1994 that I began to practice Falun Dafa. As a result, the chronic pharyngitis that I had for ten years completely cleared up. Since I started practicing Falun Dafa ten years ago, I have never had the need to take a single pill. I have enjoyed both physical and spiritual health. Our esteemed Master has given me a new life.
However, the Chinese government has used the most vicious methods to test Dafa practitioners. On July 20, 1999, when the persecution started, my fellow practitioners and I rented a bus and went to the Changchun Municipal Government to appeal and to tell them about how good Falun Dafa is. I thought to myself: I can give away anything to validate Dafa. Hand in hand, my fellow practitioners and I sat silently on the sidewalk. Several plain-clothed policemen came to drag me away. I would not stand up. I refused to get in their police van. It took six policemen to lift me up and throw me into the van. They drove us to the Police School in a suburban area of Jilin City, a place called Beixian.
At 2:00 in the afternoon, the policemen were getting extremely crazy. They shouted and screamed through a speaker. The military police held guns and surrounded us in several layers of circles. Vans came one after another to bring in the police from the Police Department of Changchun City. The police forced everyone to give their names and addresses. Those who refused to tell them were beaten. At that moment, someone told me that we could jump over the wall and escape to a certain place. I told him, "I will not leave. They are beating and swearing at practitioners. Some practitioners gave their names when they were subjected to beating and swearing. I want to stay here to uphold the reputation of Dafa." I, like many other practitioners, had not eaten anything for almost 16 hours. In addition, we were facing tremendous pressure. I felt my stomach was being tormented and my body was heavy. However, I knew for sure that it was absolutely the right thing to validate Dafa. I would appeal for justice for Falun Dafa even if I risked being beaten to death.
I walked up to the podium where the police was forcing practitioners to sign their names. In front of numerous policemen and thousands of Falun Dafa practitioners, I told everyone, "Falun Dafa is great! Falun Dafa helps one to heal illness and keep fit." I spoke loudly with all my strength.
A group of policemen immediately rushed at me. Those who were at the forefront knocked me to the ground. With great pain, I stood up again. When I stood up, I picked up a pen that fell when the policeman hit me and put it back to the podium. I was very calm. I thought: Master said that Jesus was crucified on the cross for sentient beings. He gave his life and suffered a lot. Why can't I give everything for Dafa? Back then, my understanding of Dafa was shallow. I didn't realize it this amounted to acceptance of the persecution.
What followed were all kinds of physical punishment. I still would not give in. I kept saying Falun Dafa is great and I would not reveal my name.
Those of us (six practitioners) who refused to reveal our names were sent to a classroom. A policewoman tried to persuade us hypocritically for a couple of hours. I remained unperturbed. They went to get the director and threatened to send me to the criminal police team and then to the detention center. I still remained unperturbed. In the end, they had to release me.
On July 22, 2000, I went to Beijing to validate Dafa with two female fellow practitioners from my work unit. Because our understanding was not righteous enough, we didn't do anything and came back after we found out there were no other practitioners at Tiananmen Square. Later, with a deepened understanding of Dafa, I came to know that going to Tiananmen Square to meditate, practice exercises or hold up Falun Dafa banners is an act of validating Dafa and is something we must do. In retrospect, I always admitted the persecution and didn't follow the path Master had arranged for me. Although, I seemed to be very firm, I had the thought that without going to Beijing, I could not achieve enlightenment. With such a pursuit and attachment, how could the old forces not persecute me?
On November 25, 2000, at 12:45 pm, I went to Tiananmen Square to validate Dafa with a dozen fellow practitioners. We went in two groups. Tiananmen Square was permeated with evil; I felt that the air and the time had frozen. Finally, I unfolded a banner that read "Restore Falun Dafa's innocent name!" I yelled out "Falun Dafa is Great!" "Falun Dafa is Great!" "Falun Dafa is Great!" My voice was shaking heaven and earth, shaking the whole universe.
Instantly, several policemen and plain-clothes policemen who were hiding in the vicinity rushed at me. They knocked me to the ground, then beat me and kicked me fiercely. I was thrown into the police van and sent to the Qianmen Police Station.
I was transferred to the Haidian District Detention Center in Beijing because I refused to reveal my name. Section head Zhao of the interrogation section kept slapping me for one hour and a half, trying to force me to tell my name and address. My face was severely swollen. Even my lips were swollen. Immediately after that, I was sent to the No. 5 cell. With the encouragement of the jailor, a criminal inmate poured cold water from a deep well onto me. When I was dizzy after so much torture, I didn't pass the "test of life and death." I gave them my address. In reality, I was complying with the evil. In retrospect, not resisting persecution is equal to accepting the persecution. I had wounds and injuries which they were afraid people would see if they released me. Thus their evil doings would be exposed. When the police from my hometown came to get me and bring me back, the jailors refused to transfer me to them. It was one month later that I was able to get back to my hometown.
The day before Chinese New Years Eve 2001, I was transferred to the Siping Forced Labor Camp from the county detention center. At the labor camp, I got to know many firm Falun Dafa practitioners. We studied the Fa together and shared our understandings with one another. Due to lack of understanding of Dafa, we only endured the endless persecution and firmly refused to write the so-called "Repentance Statement". The torture we endured became more and more severe. The political head, Zhang Xiaosen beat Dafa practitioners in a beastly manner. "Tying the ropes,"(1) "Hung up with hands cuffed behind the back," and shocking practitioners with electric batons were some of the torture methods that practitioners were subjected to. He even made a very vicious torture instrument that beats one's anklebone with a club constantly. Practitioner Li Qin's anklebone was beaten so badly that it was swollen to as big as a thigh. Under the policemen's endless persecution, we endured silently. Several practitioners succumbed to the brainwashing and torture and were "transformed." Because they had a warped understanding, they followed the orders the police gave and deprived firm practitioners of sleep for several days. They also tried forcibly to instill their warped understandings into the practitioners.
At that very moment, a relative of an imprisoned practitioner passed a message to us: "Master wrote a new article. Master said in the recent Jingwen that even if a practitioner writes the so-called "Guarantee Statement", Master will still recognize him/her as a Falun Dafa practitioner, but the practitioner needs to redeem the mistake." Because we knew she had been passing Teacher's articles into the labor camp, and she never gave any false information, we trusted her very much. We didn't understand the issue from the perspective of Dafa principles, and therefore we all made mistakes that led to adverse consequences.
This single message with warped understanding broke many firm practitioners' will. On March 17, I wrote the "Guarantee Statement" and my will was broken after that. More than ten days later, we were able to read Teacher's actual words. The article was "Coercion Cannot Change People's Hearts." After we read it, we felt extreme regret. What Master stated in that Jingwen was fundamentally different from what that practitioner's relative said. A God would never do such a thing as we had. Master does not recognize any of those things. We examined our mistakes after this painful experience and realized it was due to a lack of understanding of Dafa. At the same time, when we admitted and endured the torture, we all had the mentality of hoping the persecution would end soon, and this thus left a blemish in our cultivation.
In June, our compassionate Master taught us the Fa rectification formulas. We sent forth righteous thoughts as a group in the morning, at noontime and in the evening every day. Whenever we saw the police, we sent forth righteous thoughts to eliminate the evil factors behind them. When I was about to write a "Solemn Declaration", I encountered a major test. My family wrote to me, saying, "We are spending money to help get you out. Up till now, we have spent thousands of yuan to treat those who may be able to help you. (What they meant by "treat" was inviting them to restaurants for a good meal.) If you fail to cooperate, the money would be spent in vain." My attachment to freedom was affecting me. Sentiments for my loved ones were affecting me. My affection for my spouse who was painfully waiting for me outside was also affecting me. I experienced indescribable agony in face of all this pressure. After several sleepless nights, I wrote the "Solemn Declaration" with a determined heart. I will take the path Master arranges for me. I will put down life and death and all attachments to the secular world. I didn't lose anything. On the contrary, I was released unconditionally two months before my term was up.
On August 19, 2001, I wrote the "Solemn Declaration." I seriously notified the director and political head that the "Guarantee Statement" I had written was given against my will under coercion, and declared that it was void. I told them that I would firmly cultivate Falun Dafa to the very end. Later, the majority of Falun Dafa practitioners in the labor camp wrote "Solemn Declarations," which shocked the evil and had a very positive impact.
Four practitioners got out of the labor camp with righteous thoughts. We all realized from Dafa principles that we should no longer comply with the evil. We started to resist the evil and resist the persecution.
Eight practitioners started a hunger strike, requesting to release all Dafa practitioners and stop the forced labor. We heard that their lives were in danger after eight days on the hunger strike. Thus all Dafa practitioners joined the hunger strike to urge the evildoing persons to stop the persecution of those eight practitioners.
The leaders of the labor camp took the initiative to negotiate with us. I, along with several other practitioners, took advantage of the opportunity to clarify the truth to the director of the labor camp named Shan. Director Shan no longer has the portliness supported by the evil. He agreed the labor camp would no longer detain practitioners when their terms were up. The evildoing policeman, Zhang Xiaosen, was dismissed from his post. Soon, the Falun Gong group in the Siping Forced Labor Camp was dismissed. All detainees were transferred to the Liaoyuan Forced Labor Camp and the Yinmahe Forced Labor Camp. I was sent to the former. I came to understand it happened because the evil that was supporting Siping Labor Camp was destroyed. I must keep righteous thoughts. Wherever I go, I will validate Dafa and eliminate the evil.
There were several Dafa practitioners from Jilin City who were locked up in the same cell as me in the Liaoyuan Labor Camp. Their righteous thoughts and righteous actions inspired me. Their extraordinary wisdom in clarifying the truth about Dafa, their righteous thoughts of risking their lives for the sake of the truth and their unimaginable tolerance were the manifestation of the righteous thoughts and righteous actions of Dafa disciples in the Fa-rectification. Here, I found many attachments of mine, such as timidity, an attachment to different foods, and pursuit of comfort. For example, when there was no outside pressure I would be relaxed in studying the Fa. I also found that I couldn't, at anytime and anywhere, keep looking inward, maintain a clear mind, eliminate the evil, and save sentient beings.
I enlightened to something while studying the Fa: that clarifying the truth and eliminating the evil was also saving sentient beings. So when I was working in the daytime, I would clarify the truth to criminal offenders. Some of them said secretly in the cell that Dafa is good and they would like to be good people. When I came across the officials of the labor camp, I also clarified the truth to them and put forward reasonable requirements, "Don't extend practitioner's terms. Release Dafa practitioners when their terms are over. Don't lock up Dafa practitioners here."
When squad leaders and guards asked me to write reports of my thoughts, I pointed out righteously that their beating up practitioners and locking up practitioners by extending terms were illegal and were criminal conduct and told them the truth about karmic retribution for good or bad acts. While we were working in the workshop, I saw that the political head was reading my "reports" one by one. I thought, "It's time to eliminate the external evil factors behind you."
As the Fa-study progressed, I would recite the Fa for three or four hours a day. Sometimes I would recite Teacher's articles to fellow practitioners for up to one hour when we were working in the workshop. Since my thoughts were quite righteous, the guards didn't interfere with us. As the Fa-study advanced, it seemed that I had new understandings of the Fa every day. The principles of the Fa at different levels were revealed to me unceasingly, which manifested in the human dimension as my mind became more and more opened. I knew deeply that it's Master who created the actual states at different levels for me. There are no words that can express my reverence toward Master.
When I reflected on the obstacles I had as an everyday person, such as fear of evil or shrewd persons, cowardice, fear of trouble and reluctance of taking responsibilities, I found that many things were set before me so that I would let go of those attachments.
All the practitioners were forced to weave gloves in the workshop, where group leader Zhang Cheng who was extremely evil often maltreated Falun Gong practitioners. He once aided police officers to force-feed practitioners and almost suffocated one practitioner. I was a little scared of him, but I knew that I should let go of this attachment. One time, he madly kicked a 19-year-old practitioner named Meng. I made up my mind to stop this person's evil deeds and validate the Fa, so I shouted, "Stop it!" Zhang Cheng was shocked by my shout. Because nobody in the team dared to resist, Zhang Cheng was bemused at my acts. Then he abused me losing all his usual arrogance and went back to his seat. At the time, the whole room was quiet; all the prisoners surprisingly looked at me. Another time while a young practitioner named Liu was walking, Zhang Cheng suddenly kicked him violently. I immediately shouted righteously without any fear, "Don't beat people!" and Zhang Cheng left silently. I realized: If we truly have no attachments, the evil will become scared and the evil persons in this dimension won't do evil deeds.
Gradually we created a relatively open environment in the team and Zhang Cheng no longer created difficulties for us practitioners. When there was something to do, we did it quickly and then returned to the cell. Five of us took two to three hours or even longer to study the Fa and transcribe Teacher's articles every day. One time when I was binding booklets of Teacher's articles in the cell, political head Zhang Hongfei entered. I was a little nervous, because last time when he found a practitioner spreading the Fa, he put the practitioner into a cage and beat him up. But soon I thought I shouldn't have fear and should use my supernormal abilities to let him leave. I thus sent forth righteous thoughts and looked at him righteously, to make him leave. When he came to us and found the articles, he didn't say anything and left soon. Everything was gone peacefully. I knew that in other dimensions there would be a large battle between good and evil.
Since then, the situation has become better. It was now the right time to clarify the truth to the people around us. Later, I started to write truth-clarifying letters and edit truth-clarifying materials to disclose the evil. Because the light wasn't turned off in the labor camp, sometimes I would write for the whole night, and sometimes I only slept for two or three hours. The next day I would go to work as usual and had no feeling of tiredness. Due to the long-time writing under the bedding, my arms and waist were in extreme pain and I often sweated profusely, which would make a large area of the bedding wet.
One morning, we were distributing the materials for weaving the gloves. My label number was No. 106. At seeing this, my body shook all of a sudden and a thought flashed through my mind, "Master is telling me to go." At that time, I had no excitement of an everyday person, had no thirst for home, and only had an open mind as the evil was being eliminated. In less than 2 hours, political head Zhang Hongfei asked me to pack up and let me go home. The officials from my work unit and officials from upper-level bureau came to the labor camp to meet me in person. The Party secretary Meng asked me when the political head and the administration section chief of the labor camp were present, "Will you still practice?" I answered loudly, "Yes, I will!" He was shocked, but said nothing. The section chief said, "You are all tired from coming all the way here. So hurry up and go home." Thus I was set free without any procedure two months before my term was over.
The first thing I did after I came out of the labor camp was to disclose the evildoers' actions and the instances of retribution that they received.
After I returned home, the police officers repeatedly disturbed my family. The officials from my work unit, under pressure from higher authorities, tried to force me to write a "guarantee of not practicing," claiming otherwise they would send me to the labor camp. In the process of facing the evil I always kept my mind righteous. Since they didn't get what they wanted, they informed the police station. The police authority said that they would arrange a car to take me over there after a while. Half an hour passed; the car didn't arrive. They called on the phone and said that they were still holding a meeting and would come over later. Just at that time, my fear of police officers and police wagons came into my mind and I thought I would rather leave. Thus I found an excuse to get out of the evils' control and left for another city to look for a job. Now I understand that I didn't hold my righteous thoughts at that time. Since at that time the police already explained that nobody could come over to take me because of the meeting, it indicated that my righteous thoughts were able to eliminate the evil. But because of my attachment of fear, I brought even bigger trouble on myself.
In 1999 when I went to appeal to the city government in Changchun, I hid my ID card in a secret place in the police school to avoid it being taken away. In 2002 when I was looking for a job, I remembered that my ID card was still hid in the police school. Since I already let go of the attachment of fearing the police, I righteously went to the police school. With the help of a policewoman named Cao, the Division Chief of Students Residential Life in the school, I finally found my ID card, which had remained hidden there for 3 years. During my talk with the division chief Cao, I found that she had a negative attitude toward Dafa. Since I didn't want to expose my status at that time, I decided to clarify the truth to her by correspondence. I inquired about her name from a janitor at the gate. After returning home, I wrote her a truth-clarifying letter and wished her a good attitude toward Dafa and a wonderful future.
Soon I got a job. Due to a vicious person reporting on a Falun Gong practitioner from the factory, the city police department threatened the factory with halting its production, and thus several other practitioners and I had to leave the factory. I became jobless again after several months' work and had trouble making ends meet. I thought this was the persecution of the old forces using everyday people, and that I should follow Master's arranged path. Master says in Zhuan Falun, "At the same time, human beings need to have their living spaces and living conditions, and these need to be maintained and protected. Human beings need to sustain their lives and live normally." I enlightened from the Fa that I should be able to find a job and I should eliminate the evils when they interfere with Fa-rectification by persecuting Dafa disciples from financial and living aspects. I was very confident after I had found my identification card; however, one month passed, and I still could not find a job.
I calmed down thinking that my understanding in some area might have omissions. Through studying the Fa I understood what Master said,
"Wherever there's a problem, that is where you need to clarify the truth and save people. Don't take a detour when you run into difficulties."

In fact, it was indeed my attachment in this aspect that I was driven away from home by the evil persecution. This time it was the same kind of persecution. I should break through it to clarify the truth and save those who need to be saved, and no longer think of the consequence and personal gain or loss. I then spent a whole day writing a truth clarification letter to the leader of my former work unit and mailed the letter. At the same time, I asked a fellow practitioner to send out the leader's phone number overseas, to let overseas practitioners help him further understand the facts. I also eliminated the evil that was behind the person who reported the practitioner.
On the morning of the third day, I went to a company for an interview for a position. I suddenly realized that I should completely resist the old forces' arrangement on this incident and should eliminate the evil factors (dark minions) behind the division head and political head in the city police department, eliminate the dark minions behind the leader of my work unit, and eliminate the old forces that made the arrangement as well. After realizing that, the company where I gave my interview decided to hire me. When I was about to start work, someone called me that evening, telling me I could go back to my former work unit to work. I chose to work in my former work unit because I felt my returning would validate Dafa, so I returned to my former work unit and took my previous position. In fact, everything is the manifestation of the Fa' power. Only when we follow Master's teaching, can we achieve what Master has talked about in Zhuan Falun,
"After passing the shady willow trees, there will be bright flowers and another village ahead!"
Thinking over this incident, I felt I did not do enough in clarifying the truth. I still had attachments that were difficult to eliminate, my righteous thoughts were not strong enough and I was not diligent in cultivation. This made the rotten demons take advantage of me. Not many people in my former work unit knew that I was a Falun Gong practitioner. When I clarified the truth to the others, the first thing that came to my mind was to not reveal my identity and I felt it would be safer to clarify the truth in as a non-practitioner. In fact, it was a form of selfishness and fear; fearing to lose my job and fear of facing the persecution. Thus I lost many chances to clarify the truth. Through the incident of coming back to my former work unit, I realized that I should study the Fa well and do well in cultivation, be active in clarifying the truth and should not wait or rely on others. Thus I started to clarify the truth through all channels, from which I found my wisdom coming out from the Fa. There will be many methods as long as I put more effort from my heart. Any method would be fine with me if it could save people and change their negative attitudes toward Dafa.
Then I took any opportunity available, starting nearby, like visiting relatives, or while shopping in grocery stores or department stores, to initiate conversations with other people to clarify the truth. According to their ages and professions, I chose different talking points and then linked them to the issue of Falun Gong. I talked about the "Tiananmen Self-immolation" being a plot by Jiang Zemin's regime to frame Falun Gong, told them about the evil brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners, talked about the wonderfulness that Dafa has brought to people, and about Jiang Zemin getting sued in more than 10 countries by Falun Gong practitioners.
I realized during the truth clarification that if we only talked about the tortures Falun Gong practitioners have suffered and did not talk about the wonderfulness of Dafa, it would help promote the aggression and make people feel the pressure of the current situation. Thus when I exposed the evil acts, I also talked about retribution cases, talked about spreading of Dafa in more than 60 countries, talked about Master and Dafa having received more than 1200 proclamations, and talked about the blessing of Dafa when people recite "Truth-Compassion-Tolerance" and "Falun Dafa is good" in their hearts. In this way, people will be able to understand what Dafa is and experience the wonder of Dafa. There are some examples of people around me, such as my relatives and colleagues who have truly understood the truth about Dafa and thus have gained blessings from Dafa
Clarifying the truth should not be confined to predetermined forms, as long as our righteous thoughts are strong and we do it with our hearts. It is indeed what Master has said, "The Buddha's Fa is boundless."
Sometimes I stuck banners on both sides of the street, which has the mechanism of shocking and eliminating rotten demons. I wrote and mailed truth-clarification letters, put truth-clarification materials inside envelopes and left them on bus seats or tables of the rest area in department stores. During mealtime, I put truth-clarification letters on the tables of stores or restaurants, or left them in telephone booths, etc. I sent forth righteous thoughts during the time of distributing the materials to eliminate vicious rotten demons that interfered with Fa-rectification, and eliminate the evil factors that hinder people with predestined relationships and make them have negative thoughts about Dafa. I did this so that when they read the materials they would have a correct view of Dafa.
There were a few times when I could say only a few words about the facts of the persecution to those passing by, and the results were also very good. I usually go to work or go onto the street on a bike. When I met other people who were traveling in the same direction, or at a brief moment of waiting for the traffic light, or if someone asked me for the directions, I would also briefly clarify the facts as long as I could pick a proper talking point to start. During this process, I removed a deep notion, which was that only seriously clarifying the facts and spending more time could save people and eliminate the evil. In fact, it is not true. Each person has a different background with different attachments, and sometimes just one word is enough to remove his puzzle and let him no longer resist Dafa. For some people, a few words are able to let them have a correct understanding of Dafa. Some people, however, may still have some resistance to Dafa, but after I talk about Dafa and send forth righteous thoughts, at least I can eliminate the rotten demons behind them and set a good foundation for the next time some other practitioners clarify the facts to them.
I believe that clarifying the truth should not have a specific form, such as how many flyers I distributed today or how many people I clarified the truth to today. Instead we must truly take responsibility for the beings and cherish each opportunity of saving sentient beings.

I am a Falun Dafa practitioner from Baohang town, Tongliao City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. I obtained the Fa in November 2002. Dafa has given me everything that is most beautiful, most benevolent, most pure and most righteous.
This is how my journey of cultivation began. I had to go on a long-term business trip in April of 2002, so I rented my house to a practitioner, Ms. Zhang. Six months later, I got a very serious disease and had to return home. I was so sick that I was unable to take care of myself. At that time, I was alone, as my son was in his second year of college. My financial situation was very bad and my health continued to deteriorate. The practitioner who rented my house took care of me and while doing so, introduced me to the principles of Falun Gong.
It was during this desperate time that I began my cultivation with the help of Ms. Zhang. I could not even sit up for long periods of time. Ms. Zhang would read Zhuan Falun to me, while holding me with her back against the wall. After she read one or two pages, I would fall asleep. She would then patiently wake me, as if coaxing a child. After about 7 days, I became well and was able to eat and to go to work.
Two weeks later I was fully recovered and went back to work full-time. During this time I personally experienced Dafa's might and Master's benevolence. Not only did I become healthy again, but more importantly I understood how to be a truly good person. Zhuan Falun taught me how to live up to a cultivator's standard by practicing Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance. The changes in my heart also caused my appearance to change as I became healthy, relaxed, happy and more youthful looking. It also caused all my relationships to improve and by business to prosper.
Like my fellow practitioners, I have had many tribulations on my path of cultivation. Because of the poison spread by Jiang and his gang, at first, my family and my friends were against me. In the beginning stages of my cultivation, my son tried to persuade me to quit practicing. I told my son firmly, "Falun Gong gave me health. How could I give it up?" At that moment, my righteous thoughts convinced my son that I was doing the right thing. Six months later, my son came back home to visit. After seeing his mother so healthy and happy, he was not against me practicing anymore. He gave his favorite audio player to me before he went back to school so that I could listen to Master's lectures. Gradually, my colleagues, friends and neighbors all began to understand, from seeing the outstanding changes in me, that Falun Dafa is good.
One day, Ms. Zhang and I went out to buy bricks. The person who was selling the bricks asked us to count them ourselves. He gave us the key and said, "I trust Dafa practitioners and I trust your Master." This made me deeply understand the magnitude of the responsibility and the mission that we carry as practitioners of Falun Dafa. The things that Dafa practitioners have done have indeed validated Dafa!
Like other practitioners I have encountered many adversities on my path - including policemen coming to my home to steal my Dafa books and to threaten to interfere in my son's career. I told them righteously, "I have done nothing wrong by practicing Falun Dafa. There is nothing wrong with being a good person and practicing "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance." No one can change my belief. Why do you policemen make trouble for good people? Where is your conscience?" They have not been able to answer me at these times and so they have left me alone.
In the past two years since I obtained the Fa, I have walked along step by step, following Master and doing things according to the Fa to the best of my ability. The more diligent I am in following Master, the more I feel the enormity and power of the Buddha's infinite grace.

(Clearwisdom.net) Knowing that the verified death toll in the persecution against Falun Gong is over 1,300 whilst the real number may be thousands more, and aware that between 200,000 and 1 million have been illegally sent to forced labor camps without trials - many of them tortured, beaten, maltreated and abused - it is easy to see that many Falun Gong practitioners have suffered immense hardships because they refuse to give up their beliefs in the face of violent persecution. You may not realize, however, that during the past five years, the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners by Jiang and his faction has destroyed many happy families and orphaned many young children.
My daughter and I practice Falun Gong and we live in the Czech Republic. Some time ago, we learned about Australian practitioner Jane Dai and her five year-old daughter Fadu. Jane's husband was one of the many people who lost their lives in the persecution against Falun Gong. Jane and Fadu travel all over the world to tell people how they lost a husband and father. They speak out for the families of persecuted practitioners who are in the same situation.
On October 26th 2004, my daughter and I visited a school in Pomezí to tell the children the story of little Fadu. Everyone listened very carefully. One boy really couldn't understand the situation and kept asking, "How can the police be so evil and persecute people simply for practicing exercises in the parks?" After Fadu's story was told, there was a discussion. The children expressed their sympathy for the Falun Gong practitioners who are suffering gross violations of human rights in China.
Finally, all the little students learned how to fold paper lotus flowers and wrote on them the values that they would like their relatives or friends to have. Among the many values were positive virtues such as goodness, compassion and kindness. We parted with best wishes. Children from Pomezi School expressed hope that the children of Falun Gong practitioners in China can be reunited with their wrongfully imprisoned parents and that the orphans can find a good home.

(Clearwisdom.net) On February 1, 2005, Falun Gong practitioners from the Czech Republic visited the city of Zlin and held an activity in the Square of Peace. Falun Gong music accompanied the sunshine and gentle snow falling on the square, as practitioners demonstrated the exercises. Many people in Zlin were interested in learning to practice Falun Gong.
People passing the posters outlining the persecution against Falun Gong in China and the torture methods used to force practitioners to renounce their beliefs, often stopped to read them all. One elderly man read the posters and signed the petition calling for an end to the persecution before approaching practitioners to tell them about the importance of what they were doing. A woman who read the posters said, "Under the totalitarian regime, even people who didn't do anything bad are being jailed. They were just telling the truth."
Journalists from three newspapers attended the activity and interviewed practitioners. Their articles will reach not only people who live in Zlin but also many of those in the surrounding areas.

1. [Tianjin] Zhang Jingfu and Ten Other Practitioners Arrested at Group Study
Practitioner Mr. Zhang Jingfu, from Taiziwu Village, Sicundian Town, the Wuqing District, along with more than ten other practitioners, were arrested while holding a group study. They were taken to Sicundian Town's Police Station. The police brutally beat Zhang Jingfu. That same night, Mr. Zhang Jingfu, Ms. Li Xifeng, Ms. Zhang Shuzhen, Ms. Jiang Baozhen, Ms. Yang Hongcai, Ms. Zhang Wenhui, and Ms. Qian Xiuying were sent to Wuqing District's Detention Center. Personnel from the Wuqing District Armed Forces again cruelly beat Zhang Jingfu.

At around 10:00 p.m. on January 18, 2005, Ms. Wang Shuling from the Metal Structure Factory, Wuhua Group, Shengli Oil Field Materials Supply Section was arrested. She is now being held at the Materials Supply Section's brainwashing class (located on the first floor of the Materials Warehouse Hostel.)
On December 20, 2004, police from the Oil University arrested practitioner Ms. Han Huiqiong and sent her to the Jishu brainwashing class at the Shengli Oil Field. She has been detained for over a month. Her home was ransacked, and her computer and other personal belongings were confiscated. During the detention, Han Huiqiong staged a hunger strike for six days.
Personnel from the Shengli Oil Field arrested practitioner Ms. Yin Shoumei from the oil field's Central Hospital and put her into the brainwashing class at the Shengli Oil Extraction Factory (Employee Training School). She staged a hunger strike for five days.
Practitioner Ms. Wang Rufeng, an accountant from the Shengli Oil Field Education College, and another practitioner whose name is unknown from Oil Field's Power Supply Company are now being held at the Jishu brainwashing class.

4. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Practitioners Huang Guizhi and Wang Yumei Arrested for Clarifying the Truth
On January 14, 2005, personnel from the Sifangtai Police Station arrested practitioners Ms. Huang Guizhi and Ms. Wang Yumei from the Ciyutuo Oil Extraction Factory, Liaohe Oil Field, while the practitioners were distributing truth-clarifying materials. They are now being held at Shenyang City's Detention Center.

5. [Xingtai City, Hebei Province] Practitioner Huo Guilan Detained - Suffers Brutal Torture
Practitioner Ms. Huo Guilan, from Ren County, Xingtai City, staged a hunger strike while being held at Xingtai City's Detention Center. Policeman Song Jiaxi from the Qiaoxi Police Station sent a person named Wang Jimin to the detention center in an attempt to "reform" her. He tied her to a metal chair and didn't release her until midnight. During lunch time the next day, when most people were having a nap and some were only wearing underwear, he angrily went to the detention center and put shackles weighing several dozen pounds on Huo Guilan, and took her to Xingtai City's brainwashing class. Police tied Huo Guilan to a metal chair, forcibly held her head and pinched her nose to force feed her. She choked, and was unable to breathe. The food went into her ears, and the fluid flowed out, even after she was taken back to the detention center. For a long time, Huo Guilan's ears were in pain and she was unable to hear.
6. [Handan City, Hebei Province] Practitioners Chen Jinliang and An Qinghai Sent to a Brainwashing Class
On October 2, 2004, Zhang Hongxue, deputy secretary of Xiaozai Town, Jize County, and Jia Jianguo, police station chief, led a dozen people in two cars to arrest practitioners Mr. Chen Jinliang from Chenzhuang Village and Mr. An Qinghai from Kuzhuang Village. They were sent to Handan City's brainwashing class for over a month.
7. [Rizhao City, Shandong Province] Zhang Chuanhong and Xu Chongdong Arrested for Clarifying the Truth of Falun Gong
Practitioner Ms. Zhang Chuanhong, 46, is from Qianjiexing Village, Jietou Town, Wulian County, Rizhao City, Shandong Province. She went to Linyi City to purchase goods on December 12, 2004. Local police incarcerated her while she was clarifying the truth of Falun Gong at a gas station in the Hedong District of Linyi City. Police also extorted 2000 yuan from her. Later, personnel from the Rizhao City and Wulian County Police Departments ransacked her house. Zhang Chuanhong is being held in Wulian County's Detention Center.
Practitioner Mr. Xu Chongdong, 35, from Jietou Village, Jietou Town, Wulian County, Rizhao City, Shandong Province, was followed and arrested on January 10, 2005 while distributing Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials at a fair in Jietou Town. He is being held at the Wulian County Detention Center.

8. [Laixi City, Shandong Province] Persecution of Yan Xizhen
Practitioner Ms. Yan Xizhen of Laixi City, Shandong Province obtained Dafa and started cultivation practice in the fall of 1998. In July 1999, Jiang's regime suddenly started to suppress Falun Dafa. Yan Xizhen went to Beijing to appeal for the practice. Beijing police forcibly took her to Laixi City's Liaison Office, whose personnel transferred her back to the Laixi City Detention Center. There, Yan was held ten days, forced to pay 15 yuan each day, and was forced to peel peanuts every day. The city authorities then sent her to a town government for ten days of detention. She was ordered to write a Guarantee Statement, promising to give up Falun Gong practice, but she refused. Then the head of the village took her back to her village and extorted 1,500 yuan from her. The village head even ordered security personnel to ransack her home and confiscate her Falun Gong books. Yan Xizhen eventually was forced to pay 1,500 yuan.
In 2000, Yan Xizhen again went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. Police arrested her and sent her to Laixi City's Liaison Office in Beijing. The Liaison Office then notified the Laixi authorities to take her back and put her in a detention center. Yan Xizhen escaped from the detention center using the power of her righteous thoughts. Officers in the detention center informed the village head. The head ordered security personnel to take her to the village office. They ransacked her home again but didn't find any Falun Gong books. They then forced Yan Xizhen's husband to get a 5000 yuan loan for them, to submit the money to the Wangcheng Town authorities.
9. [Shuangcheng City, Heilongjiang Province] The Fu Wenqing Couple Arrested, Their Children Frightened
Mr. Fu Wenqing, 40, and his 39-year-old wife Ms. Yang Min live in Xinsheng Village, Xinxing Township, Shuangcheng City, Heilongjiang Province. During one night in 2002 they were arrested at home when they were sleeping. Now Fu Wenqing is being held at the Hulan Prison, and Yang Min is held at Harbin City's Female Prison.
Fu Wenqing and Yang Min have a 68-year-old father whose arm was broken. Their mother Guo Xueyun, 64, suffers from a fractured femur and can not take care of herself. The arrested couple has three children. The oldest daughter is 17 years old, the second one is 7, and the youngest is 5. It is said that when the police arrested their parents, the children were ordered "to freeze" in their beds [meaning not to move]. So now the youngest child runs away whenever seeing any policemen. This illegal arrest has mentally traumatized this young child.

10. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Liu Jilian Arrested Again for Distributing Falun Gong Truth-Clarifying Flyers
Mr. Liu Jilian, who is in his 50s, was a former employee of Dalian City's Petrochemical Company. He lives in the Shanzhong Community in the Ganjingzi District, Dalian City. After the persecution began on July 20, 1999, the company fired him and sent him into the Dalian City Forced Labor Camp for two years. There he was tortured so severely that he lost consciousness, and was returned home afterwards. He has still not fully recovered.
On January 12, 2005, Liu Jilian was arrested when he went out to distribute flyers. Later, the police ransacked his home. His whereabouts are unknown.
11. [Hunan Province] Practitioner Yin Lanying Arrested Again for Distributing Truth-Clarifying Discs
Practitioner Ms. Yin Lanying, who is in her 50s, is a retired employee of the Huaihua Railway Station. On January 17, 2005, personnel from the Guangchang Police Station arrested her while she was distributing truth-clarifying discs. She is currently being incarcerated at the Wushui Road Detention Center. During the past five years, Yin has been arrested and sent to forced labor camps many times.

Practitioner Ms. Zhang Shuzhi was arrested when distributing truth-clarifying materials at Shangzhi City and is being detained at Shangzhi City No.1 Detention Center.
13. [Shiquan County, Shaanxi Province] Practitioner Ye Cuilan Arrested While Clarifying the Truth
On January 21, 2005, police arrested practitioner Ms. Ye Cuilan from Shiquan County, Shaanxi Province while she clarified the truth of Falun Gong. It was learned that the Shiquan County Police Precinct dispatched three officers, Ma Qinling, Liu Shaobing, and Ye Xiaobing, to arrest Ye Cuilan, who is now being held at the county detention center.
14. [Chongqing] Practitioners Meng Guangwei and Jiang Dejun Arrested
In early January 2004, truth-clarifying information was broadcast in the downtown Hechuan area in Chongqing. The broadcast opposite the Hechuan brainwashing class continued from 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Afterwards, practitioners Meng Guangwei, a retired employee from a hospital, Jiang Dejun, a retired teacher, and a young man were arrested. Jiang is being held at a detention center and his house was ransacked.
(Clearwisdom.net) A "solemn declaration" is a person's public statement declaring to the world that whatever he or she has done or said under duress or deception that was against Falun Dafa is null and void. Most of these statements have come from Falun Dafa practitioners in China who wished to express regret that, in the face of physical torture and brainwashing, they had signed documents renouncing Dafa and guaranteeing not to practice again. Also, as more and more people in China learn the truth about how they have been deceived and lied to by the Jiang regime, many non-practitioners are also submitting "solemn declarations."
