By a Dafa practitioner in Shanxi Province

I am 56 years old this year. My husband used to suffer from idiopathic epilepsy, rheumatoid arthritis, heart disease, gastritis, and pneumonia. In October of 1997, due to a car accident, my son became paraplegic and it cost us 110,000 Yuan in medical expenses. My daughter-in-law could not face it and took off, leaving my grandson behind. At that time, I was in such anguish that I could barely face my life.

It was at this time that my sister came to tell me about Falun Gong. After reading Master Li's teachings, I started to understand the reason why I had so much suffering in the first half of my life. I made up my mind to be a good person and to persist in cultivation, and to purify myself with the help of Dafa.

Thus, I started to study the Fa and practice the Falun Gong exercises at home together with over a dozen people from my village. When we studied the Fa and practiced the exercises, we all felt that Falun Dafa was wonderful, and many of our illnesses disappeared without a trace.

After cultivating for a while, my son's condition gradually improved. His bedsores became smaller and smaller and finally completely healed. All the ailments that my husband had were cured in the course of cultivation. He didn't need the piles of medicine that had been a part of his life, and his health was better than ever. He didn't need to take any medicine for an entire year and put on some weight. The ailments that I had before, headaches, bursitis of the shoulders, arthritis, bronchitis and colitis, also disappeared. I also put on some weight. We could not put into words our appreciation of Master Li's great compassion. These changes gave me hope again.

On July 20, 1999, Jiang Zemin's Communist regime banned Falun Gong. I wept deep within my heart because such a wonderful practice was suppressed without any reason. My heart also grieved for the Chinese people, who have been beset by so much adversity and political persecution. My heart was crying out for the deprivation of even that little bit of rights of ordinary citizens to cultivate to be good people. From then on, we lost the peaceful environment that Master Li created for us to cultivate.

Shortly after, the police came to search my home and took away Master Li's pictures. They also tried to force me to write a pledge not to practice Falun Gong ever again, but I refused. Thereafter they often came to harass us every few days. I asked them, "We are all good people. Our teacher asks us to follow Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Are any of these 3 words wrong? What happened to our government? Can it not tell good from bad?" My husband became very afraid because he had been through too many political campaigns already. He saw many Dafa practitioners being beaten or sent to forced-labor camps, and he was afraid that I would be taken away as well, so he was worried sick. The 610 Office, the county police, and the township government often came to our home to harass us. They never let up, even when they saw my son incapacitated in a wheelchair and my husband lying in bed.

On January 26, 2001, a carload of people from the police station came to harass us again. As soon as they left, officials from the township government came, demanding that we denounce Falun Gong. They threatened to come everyday if we did not comply. My husband had an exchange with them, and they left. Then came another minivan with 8 people, wanting to talk to us. I said I didn't have time. There were two patients at home requiring my care, and I had to take care of my grandson, as well. They hounded me for a while and then left. My husband could not withstand such continual harassment, and he passed away next day. Even so, they still didn't let up.

At this point, a young Dafa practitioner came to us. He was a doctor, so with his help, my son's health started to improve again. But not long after, this practitioner was also arrested and his current situation is unknown. Soon after that, my son also passed away.

Now only my grandson and I remain. I must persist with my cultivation, and I also want to tell everyone that Falun Dafa is good! What the Communist party has done is evil and the propaganda that they show on TV is filled with lies. What I have been through is true testimony, and I believe that one day the truth will be revealed.
