By Falun Dafa Practitioners in Liaoning Province

(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Dafa practitioners Mr. Qiao Zhongjin and Mr. Zhao Hongli from Jianping County, Liaoning Province are on hunger strike in the Wujiawa Detention Center in Chaoyang City. Their lives are in danger. The lawless officials plan to sentence them to prison. Mr. Qiao previously weighed over 200 pounds and now weighs only about 90 pounds. He is on the verge of death.

After Mr. Qiao Zhongjin and his wife Fu Minling were forced to become homeless to avoid being illegally arrested at home, police from Wanshou Substation and an agent, Jiang Jie (male), from Yebaishou State Security went to their home to harass and terrorize their parents and children.

On April 3, 2004, Falun Dafa practitioners Mr. Zhao Hongli, Mr. Qiao Zhongjin and Ms. Fu Minling were arrested by police from Longcheng Station at their rental flat in Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province. They were detained for several days in the Jianping County Detention Center. Mr. Qiao Zhongjin and Mr. Zhao Hongli were then taken to Wujiawa Detention Center. Mr. Qiao's wife, Fu Minling, was sentenced to force labor and sent to Masanjia Forced Labor Camp.

Due to lack of evidence, the Shuangta District Civil Court rejected the lawsuit filed by Shuangta Procuratorate against Mr. Zhao Hongli and Mr. Qiao Zhongjin in 2004. Recently, the lawless officials tried to resubmit the case using fabricated evidence to sentence them.

Mr. Qiao Zhongjin's mother-in-law paid 1000 yuan to hire a lawyer for him. The lawyer, Mr. Sun Zhijun said, "I cannot directly defend a Falun Gong practitioner. I can only visit the defendant to bail him out on medical parole." The lawyer visited Mr. Qiao. He told the family that Mr. Qiao is in very good physical condition but he did not show the family the doctor's medical report. The lawyer is now avoiding the family.

The procurator, Tan Fujun, is in charge of this case. On January 6, 2005, Mr. Qiao Zhongjin's mother went to visit him and begged, "You see, my family is under financial difficulties. My son is only trying to be a good person. He has never committed any crimes of killing or arson, please let him go." No matter how much she begged, Tan's only replied was, "We do not take any family situation into consideration but strictly abide by the rules."

After Mr. Qiao Zhongjin and his wife, Fu Minling, were forced to become homeless to avoid being illegally arrested at home, the police from Wanshou Substation and an agent, Jiang Jie (male), from Yebaishou State Security now constantly go to their home to harass the parents and children. Their parents now live in terror.

Mr. Qiao Zhongjin's children have also suffered. His eighteen-year old daughter, Qiao Ruiyue, was an excellent student in Jianping County First Middle School. Before taking the entrance test required for attending high school or vocational school, the police from Wanshou Substation ordered her school office to meet with her. They interrogated her for information about her parents' whereabouts and threatened to deprive her right to attend school. Ms. Qiao Ruiyue was put under extreme pressure, and without any financial means, she was forced to leave school against her will. Mr. Qiao's nine-year old son, Qiao Guangsheng, is a third grader in Songzhangzi Elementary School. These two siblings have been living with their grandparents since the arrest of their parents.

Mr. Qiao Zhongjin and Mr. Zhao Hongli have been on hunger strike since their transfer to the Wujiawa Detention Center. Since May 2004, Mr. Qiao Zhongjin has experienced many symptoms of sicknesses and his body has become swollen. He used to weigh over 200 lbs. and now weighs only 90 lbs. His life is in danger. His wife, Fu Mingling, is still held in the Fourth Group, Second Team, Second Women's Ward of Masanjia Forced Labor Camp. The officials in the labor camp have refused her rights of any family visits.

Mr. Qiao Zhongjin's 72-year old father, Qiao Shusong, is diabetic, and walks with a cane. The elderly man misses his son very much. It is a five hour journey to Wujiawa Detention Center and he has gone there five times with the help of his wife to visit their son. They begged the uniformed guards to see their son each time but were always refused. The officials in the detention center kicked them out and even threatened to arrest them. Mr. Qiao Shusong was very angry and worried about his son. He had a stroke and had to be taken the hospital for emergency treatment. The two week hospital stay cost them 5000 yuan.

His family of four had survived on their granddaughter's money after the arrest of their parents. Now, Qiao Ruiyue is helping her grandmother tend to her ailing grandfather who is bedridden. Their source of income is depleted and it is very hard to make ends meet.

Mr. Zhao Hongli previously suffered from congenital heart disease. During his employment, he was deceived into doing illegal trading of cultural relics. He was sentenced to eight years in prison on other charges. His parents asked a policeman to help rescue their innocent son and they were robbed penniless. Mr. Zhao Hongli vowed to kill that policeman after his release. When he was serving his term in Lingyuan Prison, a uniformed guard who is a Falun Dafa practitioner introduced the practice to him. He tried to discipline himself according to the standards of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. He tried to be a good person, and he forgot about his thoughts of revenging the policeman who cheated his parents. His congenital heart disease disappeared without any treatment. He received many awards for his good behavior as a Falun Dafa practitioner and was acknowledged with an award after he saved others during an accident, without any concern for himself. He was released early in 1999 as a result of his excellent moral improvements from practicing Falun Dafa.

Mr. Zhao Hongli suffered intestinal adhesion (1) on May 13, 2004 and had to be rushed to the hospital from the Wujiawa Detention Center. He had been on a long term hunger strike. After treatment he was sent back to the Wujiawa Detention Center. Mr. Zhao Hongli's wife is a housewife. She is raising their two-year old daughter by herself. She is very sad, and was many times not permitted to meet with her husband. Mr. Zhao Hongli is still on hunger strike, and he is in critical condition.

According to other reports, on September 26, 2002, Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Li Hongwei from Chaoyang City was also arrested and detained in Wujiawa Detention Center. He was tortured to death on October 7, 2002 during his ten day detention. His family saw evidence of the police beatings. They photographed a large scar on his body that showed the shocking and scorching by electric batons. Their camera was confiscated and damaged by the police.
