The Commons Daily (Taiwan): International Art Exhibition Causes a Sensation, Exhibition Period Extended to End of Month (Photo)
(Clearwisdom.net) On February 25, 2005, the
Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance International Art Exhibition entitled,
"A Discussion of Things between Heaven and Earth" was held at
Zhongxiao East Road in Taipei. The art exhibition caused a big stir. Although it
was scheduled to conclude on March 8, it was extended until the end of March.
Taiwan's Commons Daily filed the following report about the exhibition: Several Artists wanted to tell people through their creations about the
wonders of cultivation, and the brutal persecution of Falun Gong by the
Communist Party and Jiang's faction. Since the first art exhibition was held in July 2004 in the Ribbon Building
in Washington DC, USA, the exhibition has been receiving a warm response and has
been touring New York, Toronto, Korea, Indonesia and other places around the
world. These renowned artists display through their art the brutal persecution
Falun Gong practitioners have been suffering over the past five more years, and
the uncompromising spirit they have demonstrated amidst the tribulations. More
people have learned that cultivation stories are not just legends, and that a
huge event that angers both humans and gods is taking place around us. Learning
the truth and stopping the atrocities are our duty-bound responsibility. The art exhibition is composed of five parts: Part one, entitled,
"Buddha's lights illuminate heaven and earth," displays the beauty of
heavens and gods that cultivators have experienced. What is peacefully and
purely displayed is the fundamental origin of our lives. Part two, entitled,
"Assimilating to Dafa, returning to one's original true self,"
manifests the constant uplifting that comes from purity and righteousness. Part
three is entitled, "Life's witnesses: righteous beliefs exist
forever." Here, artists use strong images to depict the brutal persecution
of Falun Gong practitioners in the past five years. The contrast between
peacefulness and violence, the choice between goodness and evil, shakes the
heart of every person who has a conscience. Part four is entitled,
"Clarifying the truth, and calling for justice." Amidst brutal
persecution, Dafa practitioners around the world have been distributing flyers,
showing movies, making banners and holding parades in the hopes that more people
can learn the truth and take righteous actions with their courage, like the
rising sun bringing brightness to a darkening world. The Part five is entitled,
"Good and evil will receive due retribution, and just trials." This
part foresees the ending of the persecution. Truth will definitely reveal
itself. Good and evil will receive their due retribution--this is a universal
law. Everything will have nowhere to hide in the dazzling brightness. One of the artists participating in this art exhibition is Ms. Chen Xiaoping,
a famous Chinese painter from Saipan Island. She was honored with an
"Outstanding Art Award" issued by the Governor General, and became the
first Chinese person to have received such an award. Her works have been
collected and stored by the Hawaii Bank, City Government, Travel Bureau and
collectors devoted to her work. Another woman artist, Fan Hong, has two of her paintings in this exhibition.
She combined traditional Chinese gongbi technique and western bright
color, and repeatedly dyed the paintings dozens of times over several months to
make them complete. The paintings depict her personal experience of being
persecuted in China, but rather than seeing hatred and sadness, what is revealed
in these paintings are compassion, kindness, and karmic retribution. The third artist is Zhang Kunlun, a renowned sculptor and painter who began
practicing Falun Gong in 1996. Since then, he has gained a comprehensive
understanding of the meaning and value of life and the universe. With his
righteous thoughts to reveal the truth to the world, he created artistic works
based on his personal experience of being arrested four times, beaten and
shocked with electric batons, monitored and sentenced to forced labor in China.
Zhang Kunlun was able to return to Canada with the help of Canadians with a
sense of justice. Posting date: 3/21/2005
