By a Falun Dafa practitioner in China

(Clearwisdom.net) Chinese Falun Dafa practitioners have been suffering relentless persecution since July 20, 1999. Along with all the other practitioners, I've also endured constant harassment and threats from the local authorities and police. In the face of the persecution, my heart has remained devoted to practicing Falun Dafa and from the very beginning has never been shaken.

Federal security officers, police, and Party Committee members have seen that coercion is not working, so they've changed strategies, developing a softer approach and saying things like, "You're a Party member, we're all comrades in the Party, so we will of course take good care of you as long as you stop practicing Falun Gong." Hearing those words and lacking a good understanding of the Fa principles concerning this matter, although I expressed my determination to continue practicing Falun Dafa, I also soft-pedaled my position by politely couching my words in the manner of the Party. Because I was under tremendous pressure and wanted to protect myself, my words were ambiguous, and I tried show them that I met all the basic requirements for Party members, but I never said I didn't practice or that I was against Falun Dafa.

When the persecution began, I still had hope for the Communist Party, hope that it would acknowledge its mistakes and restore as quickly as possible our legal right to practice Falun Dafa. When former President Jiang Zemin slandered Falun Gong in front of members of the international press, I wondered, "How can I still associate with the Communist Party, which has gone so far to attack the universal law?" I deeply regretted being a member of the Communist Party, while at the same time I was being imperceptibly influenced by the deeply ingrained Party attitudes and the Party education that I had received, and my own words on this matter became an obstruction on my path of cultivation.

At the end of 1999, I decided to resign from the Communist Party. After coming to this decision, I thought that I should, through my resignation, let the officers at every level know why I was resigning from the CCP. I wrote a letter, earnestly detailing my reasons for practicing Falun Gong, what Falun Gong is, how my work unit and our nation were benefiting from my practice, and why the decisions made by the Communist Party were wrong. I told them that if Party members were no longer allowed to practice Falun Gong, I'd rather quit the Party than give up my practice.

In order to let more people understand Dafa, I showed the letter to my colleagues. At that time, there was almost no one who dared to voluntarily resign from the CCP, so they were all shocked. Some said, "Falun Gong is so good, it must have great advantages. It's incredible that someone would give up their political career and personal future to continue practicing Falun Gong" and "If such an excellent young man wants to resign from the CCP, perhaps the party will soon be finished." After reading my letter, a senior gentleman told me with tears of concern in his eyes, "You need to take good care of yourself."

I also wrote a formal letter of resignation, with the heading: "I voluntarily resign from the Chinese Communist Party." I put both letters together and turned them in to the organization department. They simply couldn't believe that anyone would even think of resigning from the CCP. After the shock, I think people at every level of the organization read my letter. The repercussions of my resignation from the party were huge at my workplace, and I took the opportunity to clarify the truth about Falun Gong to those who knew me.

After I resigned from the party, I felt much more relaxed, and I felt that I no longer had those mental blocks in my thinking. Now I can validate the Fa and save people with my whole heart.

Recently, reading Master's new articles "We Are Not 'Getting Political'" and "Turning the Wheel Toward the Human World," I gained a deeper understanding of the evil specter of communism and the issue of resigning from the CCP.

In this article I was addressing my previous understanding about resigning from the CCP. Actually, regarding some of the points I mentioned, I was still looking at the Party from within the Party culture, while on other points, I was using the perspective of personal cultivation to understand them. However, having resigned several years ago and having validated the Fa during the process of resigning from the CCP, I think it is important to share this experience and bear witness in a positive way to just how extraordinary our Falun Dafa is in the hopes it might be treated as testimony in the history of Dafa.
