(Clearwisdom.net) The Eighth Special Olympics World Winter Games was held from February 26 to March 5, 2005 in Nagano, Japan. Attendees were 2,600 athletes and coaches from 84 countries and regions. The number of participants is the largest of all Special Olympics. Falun Gong practitioners in Japan took this opportunity to clarify the truth and expose the brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China to the Japanese people and the people attending the Olympics from around the world. The practitioners hoped that people who learned the truth would help call for an end to the persecution.

Based on the "special" characteristics of the Olympics, practitioners especially prepared truth clarification materials focused on the persecution of disabled Falun Gong practitioners who are suffering inhuman persecution for persisting in their belief in "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance."
Through practitioners' tireless truth clarification, the local police have learned that Falun Gong practitioners are peacefully calling for an end to the persecution. Therefore, the application for permission to hold activities was approved quite smoothly. During the event, the person in charge of the permit approval called practitioners several times to ask how the materials were being distributed, if there were many people who accepted the materials, and if anyone had come to make trouble (referring to the Chinese Embassy). The administrator asked practitioners to let him know immediately if there was such interference or any other problems. An elderly practitioner who had just came from China heard about this and said with a sigh, "Chinese police cannot distinguish right from wrong, and they arrest and beat good people. It is such a contrast here in Japan, where the police are so kind!"
February 25: The Day Before the Opening Ceremony
Five hundred people from across Japan who participated in the Olympic Torch Relay arrived in Nagano one day ahead of the opening ceremony, and held celebration activities at Shanguang Temple. Falun Gong practitioners who had already arrived in Nagano made good use of this opportunity, and many people took the initiative to request truth clarification materials from practitioners. When encountering foreign athletes, practitioners would give them bookmarks with "Falun Dafa is good" in English and say to them, "Falun Dafa is good!" Everyone happily accepted this special gift and sometimes, people had to line up to wait for obtaining one. A foreign visitor had learned about the Chinese Communist party and Jiang's faction's persecution of Falun Gong before coming to Japan, and she ran to the practitioner to get some material. As there was no more material in English, she took one in Japanese, and then ran back to her friends. While looking at photos on the literature, she explained to them about the truth. Even though she did not know Japanese, she described the situation so vividly.
February 26: The Day of the Opening Ceremony
The opening ceremony was held at dusk at a gym in the suburbs of Nagano. There were many people at JR Nagano Station that day. Falun Gong practitioners stood separately in front of the station to distribute a truth clarification newspaper, and most people accepted it. Practitioners felt that the situation has changed quickly, and people have become more and more ready to accept the truth. Before, the Japanese people were reluctant or afraid to accept or read the information about the persecution. This time, many people took the materials and read while walking. Some people especially walked back and asked, "Is it true?" the practitioners then explained the photos depicting tortures used to persecute Falun Gong practitioners and told them that these were only the tip of the iceberg, and that the real situation of persecution against Falun Gong practitioners in China is even more severe. The listeners were surprised at hearing all this. They could not imagine that in the 21st Century, the authorities of their neighboring country are so savage and inhumane.
People who learned about the truth had positive responses. Some said, "Keep it up." Others said, "The Chinese Communist party is no different from the former Soviet Union. They cannot sustain themselves much longer." Other people said, "It is very cold, and the wind is strong; be sure to take care of your health." An elderly woman learned about the truth and could not help saying, "Too cruel, but many people still do not know; you must give materials to them one by one and let more people know about the persecution!"
A little girl ran to us and asked, "Where can I donate money?" The practitioners explained to her, "We only want everyone to learn about the persecution. We hope you will tell more people about the persecution and you have already helped us by doing so. We don't accept money." She nodded and walked away with satisfaction. We believe that she will explain the facts to her friends and relatives.
March 5: The Closing Ceremony
The closing ceremony was held in the afternoon of March 5. In the morning, Falun Gong practitioners distributed materials on the busy streets. A practitioner met a Japanese man, who is the owner of the building where practitioners distributed materials. He was very talkative. He took the materials and took a look at it and then began talking about his opinion on China. When the practitioners told him about the persecution, he was very surprised because what he was hearing was quite different from what he had learned previously, but he obviously believed what the practitioner told him. They talked over two hours. The practitioner told him, "We came to clarify the truth in the hopes of stopping the persecution of Falun Gong as soon as possible. We did not come for the sake of money. The informational materials were printed with practitioners' own money." Upon hearing this, the man wanted to give his money to the practitioner. The practitioner told him clearly, "I don't want money, if you want to help us, let more people learn about the persecution." The gentleman complied happily. He said, "I've noticed that you are a different group of Chinese people. Very noble." As he was on his way to attend the closing ceremony, they could not talk in further detail. He left his name card and also asked for the practitioner's name card, and said that he would like to find an opportunity to talk in more detail with the practitioner.

The practitioners hurriedly ran to the gym where the closing ceremony was held, after all the people had entered. There was still some time before the closing ceremony was over, and practitioners went to nearby residential buildings to distribute truth clarification materials. As soon as the practitioners finished distributing the materials, people attending the closing ceremony began coming out of the gym. Most people accepted our materials with a smile. Some expressed that they had taken the materials before. One woman said, "I saw your Falun Dafa in Houston. You're great."
March 6: Conclusion
The Special Olympics was over. As today is the weekend, we distributed truth clarification materials for a whole day. In the afternoon, before we finished the day's work, a girl with golden hair and green eyes suddenly walked up to us and spoke in not quite fluent Japanese that she wanted to learn Falun Gong. Her family is near Vancouver, Canada, and she had learned about Falun Gong before coming to Japan, but she hadn't have time to learn it then. She didn't expect that she would come across Falun Dafa here in Japan. She is attending school at a small town near Nagano. Practitioners and she exchanged contact numbers and the practitioners will go to teach her the exercises.
(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Chen Ying from France and Ms. Xiong Wei, who was rescued from the persecution in China to Germany, attended a press conference held by the European Parliament on March 8th, International Women's Day. They gave detailed accounts of the brutal persecution they have suffered in China.
During the press conference, held in the European Parliament hall in Strasbourg, the two female Falun Gong practitioners described the arrest, abuse, forced labour and brainwashing they went through and delivered testimonies about the relentless torture they experienced while imprisoned in China.
Two Members of the European Parliament, Mr. Michel Galher from Germany and Mr. Alain Lipiez from France, also attended the conference. After Chen Ying and Xiong Wei completed their speeches, Mr. Galher commented, "It is so shocking! I fully believe what you said. It is really shameful that a country with major economical success like China should have turned itself into a mega concentration camp for prisoners of conscience. We ought to spread what is happening in China publicly in the European Parliament. We don't want to humiliate China. Instead, it is China who is humiliating itself."
The press conference was originally scheduled to last for half an hour, but it was extended to almost an hour to accommodate questions from the media. Mrs. Nurit Peled-Elhanan, an Israeli citizen who won the Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought in 2001, was deeply moved by Chen Ying's testimony. She spoke personally to Chen Ying at the reception party to greet and encourage her.

(Clearwisdom.net) The Revesby Community Festival is an annual event that locals and children attend to learn about different activities and services available and enjoy performances, rides and food. This year's festival was on March 20 and Falun Dafa practitioners also participated in the event.
There were some difficulties in securing a stall, so on the day of the event, the organizer helped practitioners look for a space. Finally, a friendly plant stallholder gave us one of her spaces.
Activities included an information stall, flyer distribution, folding paper lotus flowers and an exercise demonstration. It seemed that some of the local people were unfamiliar with Falun Dafa. Practitioners took this opportunity to constantly perform the exercises, behind and beside the stall. The environment was very peaceful.

Later on in the day, organizers arranged to have practitioners do two short stage performances. One was a traditional Chinese dance, featuring a beautiful costume and Chinese musical instrument. The second was a demonstration of the Falun Dafa exercises. On both occasions the audience watched with interest and was moved by Dafa's peaceful and righteous field.
After the event, practitioners gave paper folded lotus flowers to the organizers and the stallholder who offered her extra space, to thank them. They were deeply moved when they learned that the lotus flower is a symbol of peace and purity in Eastern culture.
An organizer said that he would invite Falun Dafa to attend upcoming community festivals.
During the day, a practitioner noticed that the plant stall holder had sold many plants in a short period of time, which may have been a reward for kindly offering her extra space to practitioners.
(Clearwisdom.net) On March 12, 2005, practitioners from Stavropol gathered at the clubhouse where Falun Gong practitioners from Pyatigorsk hold their regular exercise practice, to put on a painting exhibition. Paintings by Falun Gong practitioners, replicas of art works from the International "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance" Painting Exhibition and pictures describing the persecution of Falun Gong in China were displayed.
The auditorium and stage of the clubhouse were spacious, bright and splendid. Wearing yellow outfits, Falun Gong practitioners greeted the many guests who were invited to attend and guided them through the exhibition. They provided oral explanations about the information boards and also gave the visitors beautiful folded paper lotus flowers. The guests were pleased to learn more about Chinese culture and showed an interest in Falun Gong. Practitioners also performed dance and poetry recitals.

As the performance came to a close, a little boy told his grandmother, "I don't want to leave. I want to stay and watch." A gentleman stopped in front of the paintings and, pointing his index finger at several paintings, he asked, "Which painting do you think is the most touching? Is it this one depicting a little girl and her mother, that one showing a woman being tortured in a cage with her child standing nearby or this one showing thirty-five western Falun Gong practitioners displaying a 'Falun Dafa is Good' banner on Tiananmen Square? The reason I like these paintings is that they have embodied the steadfast, indomitable spirits of the practitioners."
Many people learned the truth about the persecution from this exhibition and they began to show a willingness to understand Falun Gong. One after another, people signed their names in the guest book with remarks such as, "Many thanks for the wonderful and kind-hearted things you have brought to us. Thank you for all you have done!"
Practitioners also handed out a lot of flyers on the street. Many passers-by accepted the flyers and asked for the location of the nearest practice sites, where they could learn the five sets of Falun Gong exercises for free. Some of the practitioners who participated in these activities are new practitioners who only started to practice recently.

(Clearwisdom.net) On March 25, 2005, some Falun Gong practitioners from Sweden, Finland, Norway, and Russia gathered at Stockholm and spent their 4-day Easter weekend to study the Fa, practice the exercises and share understandings and experiences. Although the Chinese Communist regime's persecution of Falun Gong has been going on for nearly six years, Falun Gong practitioners become more steadfast in their cultivation. In addition, more and more people are starting to practice. The great benefits that Falun Gong has brought to those practicing it have made the lies fabricated by Jiang's faction to justify its brutal suppression collapse upon themselves.

(Clearwisdom.net) On March 23, 2005, practitioners held an anti-torture exhibition and Falun Gong introductory workshop at California State University at Chico in Northern California to expose Jiang Zemin's faction's brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China. The activity caught people's attention across campus.

It rained in the morning in Chico. The practitioners continued setting up the anti-torture exhibition and some practitioners drove for three hours to join. At noon, it stopped raining.
The Falun Gong Workshop was held in a classroom and approximately 40 people attended. After the workshop, 17 of the participants learned the exercises outdoors. They were attentive and accurate in their hand gestures, which even amazed the practitioners teaching the exercises.

The anti-torture exhibition was held on a lawn in an area on campus called the "Free Speech Area." Many people stopped to look at the torture reenactment and poster boards explaining the tortures being applied to practitioners in China. Most of the passers-by accepted truth-clarification literature. Many people talked to practitioners and asked how they could lend their support.
At the end of the anti-torture exhibition, the practitioners were invited to attend a local meeting on protection of woman and children. They introduced Falun Gong to the attendees and explained the facts of the persecution of Falun Gong in China.
Two different reporters from the school newspaper came by to write articles about Falun Gong and the persecution. One reporter focused on the day's event and the other focused on Charles Lee and specific incidents of torture. (Charles Lee is an America citizen who is currently imprisoned in China because he is a Falun Gong practitioner; he was arrested in China when he went there to visit his parents and clarify the truth about the persecution.)
On the day before the event, a local radio station and a TV channel reported on Falun Gong and the persecution, and talked about the upcoming event on campus.

Chico is a city with 100,000 people and located 90 miles north of Sacramento, the State Capital of California. There is a practice site and a Falun Gong Club at the university. Local practitioners have group practice every Sunday morning and offer free teaching of the exercises.

A Song
"Lei Feng (a role-model established by the Chinese Communist Party in the 1950's) our comrade in arms, our dear brother; Lei Feng, our young people's model; Learn from Lei Feng, ....Follow Mao Zedong (formerly spelled Mao Tse Tung)..." I was only eight years old when I learned to sing this song. The image of my tears streaming down my face as I sang is still so vivid today after 42 years. Like millions and millions of Chinese people, I, without any defense, accepted the distortion of human nature, the twisted presentation of life, and the confusion of Heaven, Earth, and humans hidden within the dazzling light.
Whenever I got up and offered my seat to an elderly man on a crowded bus, the sincere gratitude in his eyes always gave me comfort. At times like these, the image of Lei Feng appeared in my mind. However, respecting elderly people is part of the universal basic morality of human beings to begin with. When I visited many countries at the age of 40, I saw that there were many kind people in every country offering their seats on the bus to people who needed them. They could also be seen stopping to give people directions in the street and offering help to people who were in trouble. Such commonality of human nature, rooted in an understanding of and respect for life, came from people who had never even known about Lei Feng.
Gradually, I began to think on my own. If stories of Lei Feng's conduct were true, and he did treat people kindly and was willing to give help to others, that was just a manifestation of the simple virtue held deeply in his Chinese heart. It originally had nothing to do with the Communist Party. However, the virtuous nature he inherited from his ancestors suddenly changed identity and became the "embodiment of unselfish Communist Spirit" under the education of the Communist Party after an "imperial epigraph" of "learn from Lei Feng" was produced, thus beginning a nationwide propaganda campaign. Being still a primary student, I naturally associated Lei Feng's image as a "Communist Party Person" with his kindness. But such kindness was gradually cut off from its root. Such way of perpetrating a fraud was one of the chief elements of the Communist culture.
Human beings are kind to begin with. Lei Feng easily moved us. Since we believed in Lei Feng, what the Communist Party culture required us to accept began to exert a subtle influence on the hearts of kids like me who were simple and kind, but also naïve. Lei Feng said, "We should treat our comrades with warmth like that of Spring, treat our jobs with enthusiasm like that of Summer, treat out weaknesses the way Autumn wind sweeps the fallen leaves, and treat our enemies with ruthlessness like that of Winter."
These four deceptive statements confuse good and evil, and gradually penetrated into my blood. The typical influence came from the one about treating "enemies" with ruthlessness and badness. But who were the "enemies" then? How could one make certain who they are? What could be regarded as weaknesses? Who were the comrades? What kind of job was one's duty? The Party decided all these. What were the criteria that the Party used to tell right from wrong then?
Another song that paid tribute to Lei Feng was called "Sing a Country Song to the Party." This song attached the factors of human kindness to the "Party's ray of light" even more directly and more broadly, saying "Singing a country song to the Party. I compare the party to my mother. My mother just gave birth to me. But the Party's ray of light illuminates my heart. In the old society, the whip hit on my body, ......I seized it to hit the enemy."
When we sang these songs, our eyes wet with tears, there was boundless love in our hearts for "the Communist Party that saved good people like Lei Feng out of tribulation" and "strong hatred" toward the enemies classified by the Communist Party such as landowners, capitalists, rich peasants, historic counter-revolutionaries, present counter-revolutionaries, rightists, spies, capitalists, people who played the market, people against the Party, and so forth.
As Chinese people growing up in the Mainland, the Party culture has penetrated our every nerve, all-pervasively, through the words in these songs and through the social foundation where such words were formed. The concept of humanity has been completely replaced by the concept of class. As a result, the Communist Party has placed all Chinese people in a state of losing their humanity and becoming a particle of class struggle. Isn't it easier now to understand how there could be quarrels between husbands and wives and good friends hurting each other during the Cultural Revolution?
Chairman Mao was regarded as the great savior. Since Liu Shaoqi opposed the Chairman, then his death would not be enough to redeem him for all his crimes. Since Zhang Zhixin tried to reverse the verdict for Liu Shaoqi, she was imprisoned and raped by the prison guards. Her throat was sliced open and she was executed. Lei Feng's "treating enemies with ruthlessness" was ultimately portrayed in these cases. However, such "ruthlessness" has become the "spirit of a martyr" admired and praised by all Chinese people in the Communist Party culture.
The Communist Party deliberately changed millions of people across this land of over 9 million square kilometers throughout the past decades, including over 60 million Communist Party members, thousands of former and present Central Committee members, and the former and present top leaders of the Communist Party. The question is: Have you, kind people, ever realized that what you speak out is what you have gotten from the media and the concepts formed through decades of edification in the culture of the Party although it appears to be coming from you? Is that your true self?
Memory of My Childhood
Everyone knew that China was poor in terms of material goods when I was young. A family in Beijing at that time was only permitted to buy 0.25 kilograms (0.55 pounds) of sesame jam (pulp of sesame after being squeezed for oil). There was very little extra food at that time. The sesame jam was then my favorite food. I have five brothers and sisters. I was the youngest. Very occasionally we could see a few dishes on the table. My mother often got a small spoonful of sesame jam and stirred it in a bowl while adding water to it gradually. After awhile, the bowl would be full and then a bit of glucose was put in the bowl. It tasted good to dip steamed buns in it.
The year I turned six was the year over 30 million people in China died of famine. One day after a meal, I moved a stool to the kitchen and climbed up to the cupboard when adults were not paying attention to me. As I did not have enough at all from the meal and was still hungry, I opened the bottle that contained sesame jam and scooped out a spoonful. When I was about to put it in my mouth, I heard footsteps suddenly. It was my Mom coming. I climbed off the cupboard in a hurry. But it was too late. I lost my head and stood in front of my mother, feeling too ashamed to show my face instead of being afraid of being beaten. I had never done such a thing behind my mother's back before. Looking at me for a second, my mother scooped a big spoonful of sesame jam from the bottle and put it in my mouth. Mom said lightly, "Sweetheart, just tell Mom when you want to eat. You can have something when there is food. We only have to go hungry when there is no food."
The scene is so vivid in my memory, even forty-four years. It's as if it is happening now. A boy six years of age, a boy who was lucky to have even just a few popsicles in a year, and a boy who kept the 30 cents change from Mother until New Year's eve and secretly put it in Mother's pocket as a gift after wrapping it up well in a piece of paper, I cried. Tears poured from my eyes. I threw myself into my mother's arms with just one thought in my mind, "Mom, I will never do such a thing again!"
Yes. It was my mother's kindness and compassion that encouraged me to choose honesty on my life's journey. However, when my mother told stories and ballads to me many times, she sometimes sang a song praising the CCP, "You are the lighthouse, shining in the sea before the dawn. You are the steersman, commanding the direction of the navigation. The great CCP, .......Humankind will be liberated by all means!"
Wasn't the boy, so respecting and loving of his mother, accepting the song and the CCP's culture behind the song while he was accepting his mother's kindness? But could my mother cheat me? The song "Following you, humankind will be liberated by all means" from my mother changed after it reached me. "I must liberate the two thirds of white and black people who are suffering when I grow up." Ironically, after truly growing up, I have discovered that so many of the two thirds of people who are suffering are actually Chinese people.
Now I am old enough to know about fate. Previously, I liked martial arts and got to know qigong from martial arts. I found Falun Gong in 1996. Then I truly walked on the path of cultivation. I have been a Falun Gong practitioner for about nine years. Facing the persecution controlled by both Jiang Zemin and the CCP, we step forward to clarify the truth to people. But many times I have heard people say something like this, "A son doesn't mind his mother's being ugly and being poor. Why are you revealing these things? Aren't you causing the Chinese people to lose face?" This is a typical example of the Party culture's changing the connotation of words.
"A son doesn't mind his mother's being ugly and being poor." This sentence originally showed the Chinese people's simple sentiment and filial piety towards relatives. Chinese people are used to referring to the Yellow River as the Mother since the river fostered the ancient civilization of Chinese people. Chinese people also refer to the central land as the Mother since it is the land where generations of Chinese people have worked and lived. However, it is unknown when Chinese people accepted the concept that "the Party represents the Motherland." As a result, "The Party is the Motherland." Since the Party has the name of the Motherland, then the idea that "The Party is the Mother" followed naturally. When we reveal the evilness of the Party, people point a finger at us saying that we "mind Mother's being ugly." Then we are said to be "opposing the Party" and "opposing China."
Such absurd logic in the eyes of rational people has been regarded as something that goes without saying by people who live in the environment of information blockade, thought-control, and lies. Facing the fact that thousands of Falun Gong practitioners are put in prisons, forced labor camps, and mental hospitals while being tortured and killed, isn't an individual or a group who holds such logic aggravating the persecution and helping the evil to commit crimes?
My estimable fellow countrymen, I hope you can be truly awakened.

NEW YORK - On June 23, 2003, Mr. Jun Li and Ms. Lili Xu stood with other Falun Gong practitioners outside a restaurant in Chinatown holding posters and handing out flyers. They were--as Falun Gong practitioners around New York often are--raising awareness about the persecution of Falun Gong in China. Meanwhile high-level Chinese diplomats dined inside.
Later that evening, Mr. Guanjun Liang and Mr. Junxiong Hua, leaders of the United Federation of the New York Chinese Associations, led a group of men in an attack on the practitioners.
Now a civil court case against the attackers is going into pretrial.
Falun Gong is a self-cultivation practice for body and mind based on the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance, according to the Falun Gong Web site. The practice was introduced in 1992 and was widely welcomed in China until the number of practitioners grew to 70 million. It was then banned in 1999 by the former Chinese leader Jiang Zemin.
On March 21, a preliminary conference of both parties' attorneys and the presiding Judge Solomon met to discuss the trial.
A new attorney representing one of the attackers, Mr. Steven Wong-- who received a guilty by default verdict several weeks ago because he failed to attend--appeared Monday, and Judge Solomon allowed the case to move forward with him reinstated. The schedule for the next deposition was set for April, when both parties will be asked questions by the opposing party's attorneys.
When Mr. Hua was asked about this case, he said that the Falun Gong practitioners were blocking the sidewalk in front of the restaurant.
The attorney for the plaintiff's, Ms. Lana Han, said there were only about 20 practitioners walking along the sidewalk that day. In fact, she said, Mr. Hua and Mr. Liang had at one point around 60 to 100 men blocking the sidewalk, which was when the plaintiff Jun Li was severely beaten.
Attacks against Falun Gong on U.S. soil by agents of the Chinese Communist government have caught the attention of Federal law makers, said the Falun Dafa Information Center in a press release.
On July 23, 2003, the office of U.S. Congressman Henry Hyde, Chairman of the House International Relations Committee, initiated a briefing on Capital Hill in reaction to the attack.
In October 2004 the U.S. House of Representatives unanimously passed a resolution condemning China's human rights violations against Falun Gong practitioners in the United States and in China.
The resolution, concurrent with the Senate and numbered 304, states:
"...demonstrations by Falun Gong practitioners in the People's Republic of China and the United States have been peaceful, meditative sessions."
"...the Chinese Government has also attempted to silence the Falun Gong movement and Chinese pro-democracy groups inside the United States."
Ms. Han said that the United States is a democratic society where people have freedom of belief, unlike China where the communist government rules. The Chinese Communist Party controls and dictates what the people should believe.
Han also said that with, or without actual violence being committed, the case will serve as a lesson to anyone who may want to extend the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners into foreign countries.

(Clearwisdom.net) I have clarified the truth about Falun Gong in a military school classroom dozens of times. I systematically clarified the truth to about 1000 people by including the facts of the persecution in my lessons all last semester. For example, I did truth-clarification while talking about Kongzi and I gave more details of the truth while talking about Quyuan.
Using slides, I discussed the Chinese historian Si Maqian of the Han Dynasty, the national hero Yue Fei of the Song Dynasty, the thinker Tan Citong of the Qing Dynasty, and Zhang Zhixin, who was killed for telling the truth during the Cultural Revolution. These examples indicate that ruling authorities do not appreciate real patriots, because authorities are like "snowmen," while Si Maqian, Yue Fei, Tan Citong and Zhang Zhixin were like "suns" that can melt the snow. Therefore, the "snowmen" would likely find the "suns" to be guilty of the most heinous crimes. Then I switched to present-day reality. Now that various corrupt officials have their superiors protecting them, "snowmen" must exist at the highest levels. Therefore, it is worth considering that they make use of the media to claim someone to be guilty of the most heinous crimes. Following this, I talked about Falun Gong from a third party's point of view, mentioning the Tiananmen self-immolation, Falun Dafa spreading around the world, the persecution cases in China, etc. Every student listened with rapt attention.
Art lessons are taught in the military school. However, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)'s educational curriculum during the past several decades has not included any information on the foundation of Chinese civilization, the extensive knowledge of traditional Chinese cultures, or the ideologies of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism, all of which underpin the traditional Chinese arts. I displayed the first six sections of the "Mei Hua Poem" to draw the students' attention to traditional Chinese cultures. Then I went to the lounge and talked for ten minutes with a teacher whom I never talked with before. When I came back to the classroom, the students were peeking at the "Mei Hua Poem." It turned out that they had taken the VCD out of my bag and were displaying it themselves. As soon as I came into the classroom, seventy to eighty students pleaded to keep the VCD on. I was also glad to let them know about Falun Gong.
These students watched the "Mei Hua Poem" very intently. After the class, some students asked to copy the VCD. They said that it was okay since they knew a little about it. They wanted to discover China's future from the "Mei Hua Poem." This is exactly what all college students are confused about these days.
I gave a lesson on Marxist philosophy in another class in the afternoon. I was still dressed in my military uniform. First I put forward a question, "Students, when Jiang Zemin answered a question from foreign reporter Mike Wallace, he said, 'When I was young I believed that the goal of Communism would soon be reached. But right now I don't think this way any more.' Think about it, everyone, will the goal of Communism come true or not?" One student answered, "I don't think that Communism will reach its goal." After my further questioning, he mustered his courage and said, "It's not just now that it won't reach its goal. I don't think it will ever do so." Then I asked all the students, "What do you think?"
They answered in a great chorus, "We agree!" It turned out that my students didn't intend to take the CCP lying down. At their request, I displayed the last four sections of the "Mei Hua Poem." I also displayed other truth-clarification VCD's. After the class, some students said that philosophy had turned out to be very interesting.
Once, in a seminar, the students spoke frankly, "We live with depression." I made the best use of the situation, "You are happy, but you don't know that it's happiness. One of my students is still in prison because of his belief in Falun Gong and was not allowed to sleep for five days. What really depresses you? Maybe it is because you are living in a society without freedom." Then I clarified the truth to them.
Sometimes the students came to me for heart-to-heart talks. I just accompanied them to watch "Between Heaven and Earth." After seeing it, some students also asked for other VCD' s and books. One student who believed in Buddhism sighed, "I really want to write a paper based on these facts, but it would never be published."
A friend who was in the army in Hong Kong came back to visit his family during the Spring Festival. He told us that Hu Jintao, in a lecture given at a military meeting, said that the ideological work in China had failed and was not as good as Cuba and North Korea. This led me to recall that before the Spring Festival, when one teacher was filling out an application for CCP membership in the office, another teacher beside her patted her shoulder and said, "How come you want to join the gangster CCP?" Another teacher who was transferred here from the Party School often sighed that our present society was feudal socialism. If we didn't talk about some corrupt stories in the Party class, nobody in the class would listen. This is not an issue of strengthening ideological and political control but of having the courage to face reality and get a clear understanding of the truth.
(Clearwisdom.net) The deputy chairman of the regional 610 Office and the head of the 610 Office at the state level once barged into my office when I was alone and requested that we "talk." I saw this as a great opportunity to clarify the truth to the 610 Office staff. While I was getting tea, I sent forth righteous thoughts to eliminate the evil elements behind them. They tried to persuade me that Falun Gong is a political movement and told me that, as a government employee, I must not practice Falun Gong. "The Chinese Constitution accords each Chinese citizen freedom of belief," I replied. "Besides, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) controls all resources and is all powerful in China. Why does the CCP need to fear a frail woman because she practices Falun Gong? Why does the CCP have to treat me as an enemy of the state because I practice Falun Gong? Besides, as a cultivator, I consider politics to be extremely filthy."
Perhaps it was because she had never heard anyone calling politics filthy, the deputy chairman's eyes widened in shock. I added, "There is something you might not be aware of. We are no longer living in ancient times. Falun Gong is not the White Lotus (a Buddhist secret society in the late Yuan Dynasty) that Zhu Hongwu joined before he became a rebel leader and founded the Ming Dynasty. Falun Gong is not the Fists of Righteous Harmony (a revolutionary society in the late Qing Dynasty) that launched the Boxer Rebellion either. Both of them were rebels with political motives. Falun Gong is completely different. Falun Gong is a true cultivation practice. It requires its practitioners to return to their true selves, their true kind natures. Falun Gong practitioners do not seek worldly fame or material wealth. In fact, they are not attached to these things at all. Politics are of no interest to Falun Gong practitioners!"
In response, the deputy chairman of the 610 Office produced a "legal" document detailing a regulation. This regulation directs that all Chinese government employees who practice Falun Gong must be fired. (This is one of the many "regulations" that the CCP passed after Jiang Zemin ordered the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners on July 20, 1999. Practitioners under said regulations were deprived of their freedom of belief in Falun Gong. These regulations were to legitimize the persecution and were an unlawful attempt to bypass the Chinese Constitution.) I looked into her eyes and asked her, "Do you have to follow all orders from the CCP? If the CCP had ordered you to cut Ms. Zhang Zhixin's throat during the Great Cultural Revolution, would you have followed that order too? (Please read the Epoch Times' Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party to learn the history of the CCP's persecution against Ms. Zhang Zhixin during the Great Cultural Revolution.) You know very well that the self-immolation incident at Tiananmen Square was staged by the CCP to slander Falun Gong and to justify its persecution against Falun Gong. Why do you help the CCP with its wrongdoing? You may not know Falun Gong practitioners in other areas, but you know me well enough and you know many Falun Gong practitioners in this area well enough to know that we have but one goal - to keep upgrading our morality. We have no other goal than to live by Falun Gong's cultivation principles of "Truth, Compassion and Forbearance." It is your responsibility to report the truth as you know it to your superiors."
The deputy chairman was speechless for a minute. Then she said, "I had to suffer much to land this job. I came from a very remote and small county." I told her, "It was not a coincidence that God arranged you to get this job. God wants to test your conscience! Kindness will ultimately be rewarded and wickedness will ultimately be punished. God is watching you! Let me tell you about the famous Chinese drama about the unfaithful husband Chen Shimei of Qin Xianglian. After Chen Shimei passed the imperial examination and was promised one of the Emperor's princesses in marriage, he decided that his wife had become a burden. He ordered his servant Han Qi to go to his hometown and murder his wife. Qin Xianglian had gone hungry and performed hard labor for many years, so her husband could concentrate on studying for the imperial examination and be able to travel to the imperial city for the exam. Han Qi knew that murder was a terrible crime, not to mention murdering a virtuous wife who had helped her unfaithful husband to attain fame and wealth. Therefore, he ended up killing himself. I do not ask you to risk your life for Falun Gong, but you shouldn't help Jiang Zemin and the CCP persecute Falun Gong practitioners either. Falun Gong practitioners are truly kindhearted people. You have two daughters. You don't want people looking down at them because of you. You don't want people scorning them saying, 'Their mother persecutes Falun Gong practitioners for a living.'"
My speech must have influenced the deputy chairman deeply. While drinking the tea, she absent-mindedly put a tealeaf into her mouth. It took her a while to realize what she had done before she took the tealeaf out of her mouth and threw it into a trashcan.
I could see that she had not completely lost her kind nature, except it had been buried. I felt very sorry for her and could not help telling her, "I truly have your best interest at heart!" When they walked out of my office, she lowered her head in shame and avoided eye contact. I said it to her again. "I truly have your best interest at heart."
This experience also affected me greatly. The power of our righteous thoughts is enormous!

The world's people are truly in dire need to know the truth about Falun Gong!
Fellow practitioners who heard the story were highly encouraged. Many became more confident in clarifying the truth about Falun Gong. My work environment also improved. My colleagues said to me afterwards, "The leaders from the 610 Office came to talk to you. What was the result of this conversation?" I told them, "Actually, I think I was very helpful to them. I helped them understand Falun Gong better." They were amazed by my response. Furthermore, they were very moved after I repeated what I had said to the two women from the 610 Office. One of my colleagues even told me that he was forced to join the CCP against his will. As if he was worried that I wouldn't believe his words, he eagerly tried to convince me he was truly forced to join the CCP. He kept saying, "It is true. It is true."
Since then, the 610 Office never comes to harass me.
I decided that no one has the right to persecute me because no one has the right to hamper me from doing the three things that Teacher requires of me. Jiang Zemin's henchmen will come to me for one reason and one reason only: They need to learn the truth about Falun Gong and they come to me because they have a predestined relationship with me.
One day in November 2004, the head of the bureau where I work (the name of the bureau is undisclosed to protect the writer) asked me out of the blue to meet with him. During the meeting, he asked me, "What type of spiritual belief do you practice? I can't let you believe in it! You are not going to believe in what the CCP forbids you to believe in! Don't even think about it!" I said, "The Chinese Constitution grants all Chinese citizens the freedom of spiritual belief. The Ministry of Civil Administration does not have the legislative authority to issue a new regulation that overrides the Chinese Constitution. It does not have authority to prevent government employees from believing in Falun Gong. The People's Congress has the legislative power, and the People's Congress passed its so-called "anti-cult law" after the CCP unlawfully arrested many Falun Gong practitioners. This was done to justify the CCP's unlawful actions. Besides, the anti-cult law does not mention Falun Gong at all." He could only say, "No matter what, you will not do what the CCP forbids." On my way home, I mulled this over in my head, "He is the head of the bureau and is used to intimidating his subordinates. I should try a more forceful and aggressive approach with him. Being meek like a lamb is the wrong approach with him. After all, I have done nothing wrong, so I should speak up more."
The next month, the head of the bureau asked two division leaders, the head of the Discipline Group and me to meet in the conference room. He produced a piece of paper and read the questions on the paper, "First, what is your opinion of Falun Gong? Second, is Falun Gong involved in politics? Third, what are the merits and flaws of Falun Gong?"
I answered him, "Falun Gong teaches its practitioners to become better people and keep upgrading their morality by following the principles of Truth, Compassion and Forbearance. Therefore, Falun Gong is very good for its practitioners and for the country. Falun Gong is a cultivation practice that enables its practitioners to return to their true selves. It requires its practitioners of removing their attachments to worldly fame, wealth and sentimentality. How can that possibly make Falun Gong political?"
My heart was racing at first, but then I became very calm. The head of the bureau drew a circle on the desk with his index finger and said, "If you do not respect the authority or the rules, I'm asking for your resignation." I pointed a finger at the head of the bureau while stating with a solemn look, "I will not resign without any valid reason. It is your prerogative to do whatever you like, but you have no power over my destiny. You will ultimately face the consequences of your actions. Falun Gong is a cultivation practice and it is the most important thing in my life."
The conference room became dead silent. No one supported him. Next he produced a legal document and started reading it. I interrupted him, "I do not remember to have ever seen such a long document. I need a copy of that document." "No!" he exclaimed. "This is top secret!" I said out loud, "Why do you try to hide your action if you have the audacity to persecute Falun Gong practitioners? Give me a copy." "You can't have it," he said. The rest of the people in the conference could barely contain themselves from bursting into laughter.
Finally he said, "I'm sending you home for the rest of the afternoon. I want you to write a statement renouncing Falun Gong." I declared, "I will not write such a statement. You may ask me for a summary of my work, but you cannot tell me how to think or what to think."
On my way out of the conference room, I truly felt the realm described in one of Teacher's poems:
"Forget about your thick fog or fierce wind swirling
Mountain rains along the way wash off dust of the expedition"

The minute I entered my office, a colleague told me, "Don't write the statement. You made the correct decision." Everyone had heard about the conversation I had with the head of the bureau already. Many openly commented, "Falun Gong practitioners are truly admirable. They have the courage to speak the truth and to persevere in their belief." Some of them were very concerned and asked me to be more cautious. Some offered to loan me money if I should face any financial difficulty.
I took a taxi home. During the ride, I took the opportunity to tell the taxi driver many important facts about Falun Gong. My husband told me that my boss had called and asked him to have me write the "statement" before returning to work on Monday. I felt truly sorry for the head of the bureau. He felt that his career might be in jeopardy if he couldn't make me renounce Falun Gong. But I know the true reason he had come to me: he is predestined to know the truth about Falun Gong from me.
The head of the Human Resources Department asked me to renounce Falun Gong in writing. She said that since I already had renounced Falun Gong before, I surely could do so again. I told her, "It only shows how cruel you are. The police handcuffed me and locked me up in the detention center. They exploited my fear and sentiments in an attempt to have me to renounce Falun Gong against my will. Did you know that I wanted to die after I had given in to their terror tactics and wrote that statement? Did you realize what a cruel thing they had done? Falun Gong is truly good in every way. When the Public Security Bureau 'interrogated' me through torture and violence, did you know what they asked me? 'How much did you contribute to Falun Gong's truth-clarification materials?' They didn't ask me, 'How much money did you gain from Falun Gong?' Do you know why? It is because they know perfectly well that Falun Gong practitioners have high morals. They know that we all share the expenses of producing truth clarification materials about Falun Gong. You must not try to force me to renounce Falun Gong anymore. You know perfectly well that the CCP has a history of inciting people into fighting each other. Every one of its political movements showed this clearly. Each time a political movement was over, those people who abandoned their conscience and committed crimes eventually paid the price." After that conversation, she refused her boss's order to pressure me into renouncing Falun Gong in writing.
The head of the Discipline Group and the deputy head of the bureau also came to talk to me at different times. They also told me that the police had been monitoring all of my telephone calls. They said, "It would be decades before the CCP reverses the ban on Falun Gong and restores Falun Gong's good name. You would be miserable for decades before the day came. I can promise your safety as long as you renounce Falun Gong in writing, no matter how short the note."
How foolish these people are! They cannot win the popularity contest by reasoning a wrong course! Therefore, they make people succumb to their violence!
In the end of 2004, the bureau began its employees' end-of-year review. One day, the head of the bureau asked many department leaders at the bureau and me to meet him in the conference room at 8:00 p.m. This time he did not order me to renounce Falun Gong in writing or ask me if I was still practicing Falun Gong. "I am giving you a final ultimatum," he said. "I will evaluate your work performance based on your attitude towards Falun Gong." (An employee will be fired if he gets a bad end-of-year review for two consecutive years.) I smiled at him and said, "Thank you for your warning. You cannot possibly make me renounce Falun Gong and transform me into a different person. I have been trying to become a person with high morals and adhere to Falun Gong's principles of Truth, Compassion and Forbearance in all I do. Which direction do you expect me to transform into? The opposite direction of being moral?" He was speechless He simply looked at me with an astonished look on his face.
I continued to smile at him while telling him, "You may write my review any way you like. But if you write that I failed to do my job because I tried to be a better person by following Falun Gong's principles of Truth, Compassion and Forbearance, you will be brought to justice one day, and you will have to face the consequences for persecuting Falun Gong practitioners." When they realized that nothing they said or did would change my mind, the head of the bureau said, "We don't have any personal vendetta against you. It is because we have received an order and we must follow the regulation. As the General Secretary of the CCP at the Bureau, I cannot give you a good end-of-year review, otherwise, I will have problems with my boss." Then the deputy head tried to support him by saying, "Even the Permanent Committee of the People's Congress has already ruled Falun Gong as a [slanderous word omitted]." I stopped her and told her gravely not to tell lies. "The People's Congress did not even mention Falun Gong," I told her.
I did not raise my voice, but she did not say anything else. The room became still. Even the head of the bureau did not try to back her up. I told them, "Everything you do to me today will come back and haunt you some day. I believe that everyone who lives by the principles of Truth, Compassion and Forbearance will have a beautiful future. The reason why we are sitting here in the same room today is because we are predestined to know each other. I would feel deeply saddened if I didn't tell you the truth about Falun Gong. Falun Gong teaches its practitioners to live by the principles of Truth, Compassion and Forbearance. It truly has the power to help people return to their true, kind nature. It is truly a wonderful cultivation practice. Don't you want to return to your true, kind selves?" The head of the bureau could do nothing else than to be very polite to me. He asked if he could get a taxi to take me home. I politely declined his offer. "I am not afraid of walking in the dark. Thank you."
The aforementioned are brief summaries of my three meetings with the head of the bureau and the improvement of his attitude towards me as a Falun Gong practitioner. I know in my heart that he no longer will be rude to Falun Gong practitioners or simple-mindedly believe the CCP's propaganda vilifying Falun Gong.
My work unit supervisor gave me the employee evaluation and asked me to complete the section, "Agreement with the work unit's opinion." They had written the following: "In the Year 2004 evaluation period, based on her summary and comments by others, the bureau party group requested her to clarify her attitude towards Falun Gong. The comrade's statement was: 'I have persisted in my belief in the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance, which is the goal of my life. No one possibly can make me renounce Falun Gong and transform me into a different person.' Based on her attitude toward Falun Gong and the policies of the state party commission and "610 Office", the bureau party group made the determination that the comrade's performance was unsatisfactory." This persecutory effort clearly shows its unlawfulness and folly: the evaluation of "unsatisfactory" was merely because I try to be a person with high morals, following the principles of "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance."
In the column of "Opinion of the Employee under Review," I wrote, "I do not agree with the evaluation. I have attempted to increase my morals continuously and live by Falun Gong's principles of Truth, Compassion and Forbearance. I have been respectful to my colleagues, my organization and the country. Which direction do you expect me to transform into? Should I move towards the opposite direction of having high morals? Besides, I have done a remarkable job in building the region's winter and spring farming irrigation systems. I have even won recognition at the provincial level. But now you said I have failed in my job this year because I have been trying to become an even better person and keep upgrading my morality by following Falun Gong's cultivation principles. Do you have any conscience left in you? Please do not use the lame excuse, 'I must follow orders,' to abandon your true nature. You are pushing yourself into hell. It is a heavenly law that good deeds will ultimately be rewarded and bad deeds will ultimately be punished. Everyone will face the consequences of his or her actions. Stop persecuting Falun Gong cultivators! Please do not neglect your conscience any longer!"
Before I turned in the review, I made a lot of photocopies and distributed them among my colleagues and friends so that they will know the CCP is not persecuting Falun Gong because it is a [slanderous word omitted], but because it teaches people to become better and to live by the principles Truth, Compassion and Forbearance.
(Clearwisdom.net) It was Friday and it had just snowed heavily. I called a fellow Falun Gong practitioner to go with me to clarify the truth. We walked approximately 6 miles down the road. Whenever we saw a passer-by, we immediately greeted him or her, "How are you! I would like to tell you some important information." We would then tell them, concisely, what we wanted to express. After that we would give him or her a copy of the truth-clarification materials and a card that we made. Some passers-by would read "Falun Dafa is good" while walking, to remember the words. When some were eager to read the material on the road, we would tell them to keep it and read it slowly after they got back home. We also told them to make sure they share the material with their friends and relatives, that they were doing a very good deed and they would accumulate a lot of virtue and get rewarded for it in future. The passers-by nodded their heads, showing their agreement, and then left.
We then came to a store in a village. The store was bustling with noise and excitement. Inside there were people playing mahjong (a popular game in China) at one table and cards at the other, and there were also many people standing by the fire watching the games. After we entered the room we sent forth righteous thoughts while greeting them. We then started to clarify the truth. When we first mentioned Falun Gong they appeared very unfriendly, saying, "We do not want to listen and you are not welcome here. You can leave." However, we did not get frustrated and we continued sending forth righteous thoughts. We then changed the topic, saying that we came here to promote "Truth-Compassion-Tolerance" and then we told them the surface meanings of the three words. We also told them that the "Self-Immolation" incident on Tiananmen Square was staged to defame Falun Gong. Only then did they start to listen to our words. There were two young men playing mahjong who asked us if we brought something for them to read. We took out the truth-clarification material and gave it to them. A man who had just come in said, "A moment ago I saw them indeed walking all the way to this place. It is really valuable that they had the interest or thought to do something good for us." There were also people asking us what we wanted as we did this not for money. We answered all of their questions. They finally knew the truth. We told them, "Because we have benefited from Falun Gong, we also want to tell you the goodness of Falun Gong so as to let you also gain the benefits. In fact, we would be very selfish if we had not told you the truth. We do not want any money from you. We are truly here for your benefit and goodness." They were moved.
After we left the store, we went to a village resident's home. After getting inside the house, we found that the person in the house did not know how to read. My fellow practitioner then taught him, word by word, "Falun Dafa is great." By the time we got to another villager's home, it was already dark. The father and son in the family listened carefully to our truth-clarification and kept nodding their heads while listening. After that, it was 7:00 p.m. The other practitioner and I held each other's hands and started to walk (under the light reflected from the snow) on the uneven countryside road, which was covered with melted snow and mud. On the sides of the road were high mountains, and there was a small river running in the middle. We did not carry a flashlight with us, and we were, as a matter of fact, a little scared. However, we immediately remembered that Master was right beside us. When we were about to leave the village we saw a bridge with a small house beside it. There was a light on inside the house. We knocked on the door and entered the room, seeing five persons staying by the fire to keep warm. They were workers from other places. Without wasting time, we directly told them why we came. At first, they did not want to listen. Later, through sending forth righteous thoughts and our continuous truth-clarification, they finally understood the truth. One of them said, "We will go home for the Chinese New Year holiday in several days. Thank you." After we left the small house we walked and talked, "Ah, all the sentient beings are waiting for us to save them. How timely that we came here! Otherwise, they would have gone home."
An half-an-hour after we left the village we arrived at a fellow practitioner's home. The three of us held a discussion. Tomorrow would be Saturday and none of us needed to work. So we decided that the three of us would act together and go to Wuqi Farm, which is over 12 miles away, to clarify the truth. I knew that place very well.
The next day we got on the bus heading toward the farm. However, when it was only half-way to the farm, the bus stopped and it would not continue to our destination. We had to get off the bus and walk the rest of the way to the destination. While walking, we would greet and clarify the truth to the passers-by whom we met. We gave them truth-clarification materials and cards. They all thanked us when they departed. When we reached our destination, it was several minutes to noon. After taking a short break and sending forth righteous thoughts, we went to the working shelters, one by one, to clarify the truth. There were several workers (who came from other places to work there) in each working shelter. The workers in the first two shelters did not want to listen to our truth-clarification. We searched within ourselves. One practitioner said, "Is this due to some of our attachments that had not been eliminated?" I said, "Don't get frustrated and don't be moved by human mentalities. Regardless of whether they like to listen to us or not, we should maintain the same mind and compassion." After we realized the attachment that we had, our truth-clarification in the third shelter was very good; they listened quietly and we found that even the dogs surrounding us seemed to listen to attentively.
At that moment a fellow practitioner fell down. A lady quickly found some pants and a pair of socks for the practitioner to change into, to get out of her wet clothes. When we tried to give the lady money, she said, "You have such good hearts. You walked so far just for the sake of our benefits. I won't take any money. You have suffered so much, how could I accept your money." The fellow practitioner said, "It is worth it if we suffer a little, as long as you can understand the truth and have a good future." They said farewell to us while watching us leave. They kept telling us, "Be careful when walking!" After that we went to many other shelters.

At the station, the police not only questioned me but also beat, kicked and cursed me. No matter what methods they used to try to force me to "transform," I only said one word: "Practice!" I remembered Master's words:
"In the midst of great tribulation, one should be steadfast
The will to strive forward whole-heartedly cannot be changed"
("Steadfast," Hongyin II).
No matter what, I will follow Master. My heart is unshakable in practicing Falun Dafa.
That day a policeman wanted to shock me with an electric baton. He ended up shocking himself once, and then the baton lost power.
They saw that using aggressive methods did not work on me and that I was not afraid of them, so they tried using deception. I didn't pay attention to whatever they tried. Dafa disciples don't have the attachment of fear. With righteous thoughts and righteous actions, the power of righteous thoughts becomes even greater. When the police didn't have any other tactics to use on me, they sent me to the county detention center, where I was imprisoned with criminals.
On August 3, 2004, when I walked through the door of the prison, they asked me, "What crime did you commit?" I said, "None. I practice Falun Gong. Our Master asks us to be good people according to the standards of 'Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance.' I didn't do anything wrong!" The guards had a criminal beat me. I recited Master's Fa-rectification formula: "The Fa rectifies the cosmos, the evil is completely eliminated. The Fa rectifies heaven and earth, immediate retribution in this lifetime." I told him, "You can't beat me, because I am a Dafa disciple. It is a sin if you hit me!" The tall criminal said, "I just want to beat you." He then kicked me hard without thinking whether it was right or wrong. Amazingly, he immediately screamed in pain and could not walk. He was doubled over from the pain.
I went to help him walk out of the cell. He lowered his head with embarrassment. (He could not walk even by the time I got out of the prison with righteous thoughts.) Other criminals in the prison all said, "Falun Dafa is mysterious!" I then quickly started to tell them the truth about Falun Dafa and the persecution. I realized that I didn't have any freedom when I was imprisoned in the detention center. How could I do the three things well? They must release me without any conditions! So I began a hunger strike.
One day, two days, three days. By the fourth day the guards were scared. When they questioned me, I sent forth righteous thoughts and told them the truth about Dafa. The doctor, who took my blood pressure, found with surprise that it was still normal. I said to Master in my heart, "I must measure myself with Dafa's standards strictly and be a true cultivator of the Fa-rectification period." I continued the hunger strike for six days. On the morning of the sixth day, all the main prison officials came. I told them about Dafa. A responsible person at the prison said, "If Falun Gong can improve your health, then practice it." So they asked a member of my family to take me home.
I left that evil place with dignity.
(Clearwisdom.net) With his righteous and steadfast belief in Dafa, practitioner Mr. Zhang Quanliang was able to endure lengthy, brutal persecution in the Xishanping Forced Labor Camp with dignity. The police officers in the forced labor camp that still have benevolent hearts admired his righteous energy.
The 7th Brigade of the Xishanping Forced Labor Camp is where the most brutal persecution against Dafa practitioners takes place. The police in the prison, in order to persecute the practitioners, assemble goons from other brigades. The criteria to choose the goons are that they have to love fighting, and they fight hard and have the worst behavior and don't mind to violate regulations. It is best to have those that have been jailed at the labor camp for more than three times. The "educators" in the 7th brigade were made up of two parts: 1. the goons from the "strict management team," who were the most brutal drug addicts from all other brigades; 2. the relatives of the guards and the people who used to work in the government, procuratorate, courts, or judicial institutes who violated the laws and were serving terms in the forced labor camp. These former officials all have some political power and do not hold back when it comes to persecuting practitioners.
Li Qiwei, the captain of a middle team, spoke to the drug-addict prisoners openly in a meeting, "You are the ears and eyes of the staff in the camp and the extension of the staff's hands and legs. You will think of what they think and even what they do not think."
Mr. Zhang Quanliang is a very steadfast practitioner and the guards became more extreme when torturing him. The guards would not give him food or drink, and would only allow him to urinate once a day and to defecate once a week. They would brutally beat him several times a day. All kinds of new tricks to persecute and torture were ordered, encouraged, and enforced by the police.
All people who participated in the persecution will be legally responsible for everything they do. These people include Tu Deyu (the political commissioner of the Forced Labor Bureau), Long Renshun (the associate-director of the forced labor camp), Tian Xin (the director of the education division of the forced labor camp), Xiao Xingming (an "educator" of the 7th brigade), Liu Hua (captain of the middle team), Li Qiwei, Li Zhongquan (a sub-team captain), Wang Jing (a special police), He Weidong (a drug-addict prisoner in the camp), and Xia Xianke.
Mr. Zhang Quanliang went through unimaginable torture for three years in the forced labor camp. That is something the people who have never been to a forced labor camp could never imagine. Zhang Quanliang used his actions to validate the Fa in such a harsh environment. His righteous thoughts and acts were feared by all the evil. I stayed in the same prison cell with Zhang, and I realized my shortcomings compared to him.
The Steadfast Belief in Teacher and Dafa
In this frenzy of persecution, many of us viewed it as the test we had to pass, the tribulation we had to suffer in our individual practice, or simply looked at it as the Chinese Communist Party "torturing people." Some practitioners looked at Teacher as some leader of an ordinary people's organization. After the persecution happened for some time, many practitioners "transformed." They felt disappointed and hence had doubts on Teacher's Fa and were shaken in their belief.
However, Mr. Zhang Quanliang had always been a firm believer in Teacher and Dafa. The goons persecuted Zhang in a very vicious way. They continued beating Zhang's head heavily and caused severe injuries in his brain. Zhang had dizziness, lost his ability to speak and his memory. They tried to beat him thinking that he would become an idiot, retarded or psychotic. They only gave him a piece of bread the size of a thumb for breakfast. For lunch and dinner, Zhang only had a spoonful of rice. They tried to ruin his body. However, Zhang was unshakable. He firmly believed in Dafa and Teacher and got through all the tribulations. After the most severe period of his persecution was over, magical changes occurred in his body: his face became rosy, his skin became white, clear, soft like a baby, and it was even radiating. This was something the forced labor camp did not expect. Zhang even told me, "When they hit me on my head, I forgot a lot of things. But they haven't hit me in the past several days and I started to remember a lot of Teacher's articles. This is the power of Dafa."
Put Down Human Sentiments
The practitioners in the camp were from all social statuses. One of the deceitful means the guards used was to tell highly educated practitioners, "You are educated and have good social status and your own career. How can you be like those illiterate farmers and old people? You see they have all given up Falun Gong. You will have a good chance of having a good career after you are released if you give it up." For less educated practitioners, the guards would say, "Do you think you know what Falun Gong is? You are just following the trend. The college students are the ones who really know what Falun Gong is. You better hurry up and 'transform' so you can go home to take care of the farms or do some business." Sometimes the guards would tell these practitioners, "See, they all 'transformed.' Why don't you catch up with them?" Some people were really deceived and some accepted it knowing those were evil lies due to their attachments.
Mr. Zhang Quanliang used to be a computer engineer in the Academy of Coal Design in Chongqing. He once won third place in the Chongqing City Technology Exhibition and second place in the Sichuan Province Outstanding Software Design Exhibition. He was also a technical English translator at work and a recognized talented person. The guards in the camp also "praised" him as a "talented person" and tried to transform him with lies like "career first." Mr. Zhang was sober and clearly knew that validating the Fa was the most magnificent thing. When the evil deprived his right to work in an attempt to shake his righteous thoughts and to lure him with "good career opportunity," Zhang did not fall for those. Many people "transformed" against their own will actually understood the relation between validating the Fa and the work in the human society. But they were afraid to lose their jobs, having to suffer from it and losing their fame and gain in the human world. Hence they compromised and did what they were asked. Some of them even asked the camp to resume their membership in the CCP and their governmental work in exchange of them transforming. They shamed the title of Dafa practitioners.
Not Attached to Supernormal Abilities
Mr. Zhang Quanliang knew he had some supernormal abilities and can see other dimensions. But he was never attached to those and used them only in clearing the evil.
One time a policeman asked to meet him. A transformed ex-practitioner would not stop persuading him. He just sat there without a word. I saw his forehead was giving out red light. A practitioner told me he was sending righteous thoughts. Shortly, the police called a stop. The transformation test was over.
There was a period of time the guards in the camp would give practitioners a hard time during the weekends and made them write "Thought Reports." Mr. Zhang Quanliang told me, "Every time the weekend comes, there are rotten demons and evil spirits that drop into the camp and that is why it happens. There used to be more. Now they all disappear soon after they fall in here. Everyone should send more righteous thoughts during the weekends and protest to the guards in the camp upfront." Soon the weekend torture stopped completely. The guards wouldn't allow him to talk, so he just quietly sent righteous thoughts all the time.
He had seen the scenes after the Fa-rectification, but he was very clear-minded and never relied on that to be the support of his belief. He did everything based on the Fa.
Not Attached to Time
Around July 2002, before the CCP's 16th Congress, many practitioners who could see other dimensions, including Zhang Quanliang, saw that the CCP would soon stop the persecution and give Falun Dafa its good name back. Some thought it would be in spring, 2003; some thought it would be May or August; some were even counting the exact time it would happen after 42 months. Two practitioners in the camp often asked me when the Fa-rectification of the human world would start. In the brutal persecution, some practitioners were attached to the time served in prison. Some were trying to figure out when it would be over from Teacher's lectures. When the "expected" time for the end of the persecution came and went, some became disappointed, some became negative and stopped protesting the persecution, and some even betrayed their belief. That eventually made the persecution worse. Mr. Zhang was not affected and told us, "That day will come. What we saw might be true but might also just be illusions. Being a Dafa practitioner, the first thing to consider is whether we have met Teacher's and Dafa's request. If you didn't do well and the persecution ends tomorrow, do you deserve it?"
Deny the Old Force's Persecution and Constantly Eliminate the Evil with Righteous Thoughts
In July 2002, there was a practitioner imprisoned for eight and a half months in the Chongqing City Brainwashing Center created by the 610 Office. The 610 Office could not transform him and eventually threatened him, "If you don't transform, we'll send you to the Xishanping Forced Labor Camp." He replied, "Other practitioners had suffered a lot to validate the Fa and I didn't. It seems that I am going to now." The head of the 610 Office was very mad. But because his one thought of acknowledging the old force, the 610 Office really sent him to the Xishanping Forced Labor Camp about 5 months later.
One way the evil used to threaten the practitioners was to abuse the system in the camp. They prolonged the time of the sentence at will and openly said to practitioners, "If you don't transform, your term will be extended. After the extension is over, the sentence will be renewed." Many practitioners' terms were thus illegally extended. Mr. Zhang Quanliang fundamentally denied the persecution. He would clearly express his attitude to the guards, the thugs, or the "educators" who helped with the transform work, "Falun Dafa is the righteous Fa. Nothing is wrong with practicing Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance. The Constitution says the citizens have the rights to freedom of belief and the right to appeal. We did nothing that violated the law and disturbed the peace in the society. This imprisonment is illegal and wrong."
The righteous thoughts of a practitioner subdued all evil and the camp did not prolong his sentence.
A Practitioner Should Be Rational and Clearheaded at all times to Tell the Truth and to Validate the Fa
Under the brutal persecution, after a while, some practitioners used more extreme ways to protest such as jumping off a building and banging themselves against the walls. Mr. Zhang Quanliang was very rational and could validate the Fa rationally at any time under any situation. During the worst time of the persecution, a policeman tried to transform him. At the time Zhang was tortured to the point that he was numb, couldn't move well, and his limbs were shaking, but he still took this chance to express his mind to the policeman, even though he had a hard time doing so. His compassion touched this policeman and his attitude toward all the practitioners improved after that.
A prisoner in the camp had spent more than 10 years transferred between the prison and the camp. The guards thought he had a bad enough record and thus sent him to monitor Mr. Zhang Quanliang. They hoped that he would brutally torture Zhang. The prisoner soon was moved by Zhang's great compassion. He didn't persecute Zhang and was doing his best to protect Zhang. Later, the police transferred that prisoner to another group, where he still continued to help and cared for other practitioners by all means. He said, "All the people I met in my life, only you are the truly good people. If I had practiced Falun Gong, I wouldn't be what I am today. After I get out of here, I will practice Falun Gong."
Great Compassion
In July 2002, the camp allowed Zhang Quanliang's brother to visit him. The camp even allowed Zhang's brother to bring Zhang's son's picture into the prison in order to make him homesick and make the transformation go smoother. Later Zhang told me, "Other practitioners are taking care of my son. My son is also Teacher's student."
One time he told me, "I must persist and will persist. As long as I persist, there will be less pressure put on you." He never thought for himself for a second. He always thought for others and for Dafa. He is truly a magnificent practitioner created by the magnificent Fa.
Zhang Quanliang's righteous thoughts and righteous acts came from his steadfast studying of the Fa and from his truly giving up human sentiments and attachments. When reaching that level of practice, one can walk through that kind of hard and brutal environment in the camp openly and nobly. And that was truly "As you get rid of human mentality, evil naturally disappears." ("Don't Be Sad," Hongyin Two)

Practicing Falun Dafa has added many extraordinarily wonderful things to my life that human language cannot describe. Yet, in my eight years of practice, my husband has never praised Falun Dafa in front of me. In fact he didn't even support my practice and went so far as threatening to divorce me in order to keep me from practicing. However, two recent events convinced me that he has changed his attitude. I feel genuinely happy for him.
The first incident happened on New Year's Day at my younger brother's home. Afterwards, my nephew told me that my husband had mentioned Falun Gong at their home when he was having dinner with them. He said: "Falun Gong is really good, although I have never mentioned this to your elder sister. During the seven or eight years she has practiced Falun Gong, she has not taken any medicine and has become healthy." (Previously, my health had been very poor.)
The second incident happened one evening, when the television was broadcasting news about one car crashing into another. Each car owner was accusing the other of wrongdoing and each wanted to extort some money from the other. As soon as he saw this, my husband said: "If only they were all Falun Gong practitioners, then none of them would try to take advantage of the other."
These two incidents convinced me that the facts speak for themselves. The words and deeds of our practitioners are what caused him to unwittingly change his mind.

(Clearwisdom.net) I became deeply distraught when reading "Remembering My Younger Brother, Liu Chengjun (Photo)," published on Clearwisdom.net on December 24, 2004. While I was overcome with grief, I thought, "Chengjun, you shouldn't have died!" Therefore, I would like to share my insight with everyone.
Liu Chengjun's sister told us in the article that after she told her baby brother that she was trying to get medical parole for him, Chengjun tried hard to dissuade her and said, "Don't...be...attached...to...anything." Then he recited Teacher's poem, "Righteous Thoughts and Righteous Actions" and then told his sister, "After I die, you must be kind to him (the man who had looked after him)."
I think that Chengjun shouldn't have regarded his sister and fellow practitioners' rescue efforts as an attachment and thus refuse to get rescued. By acknowledging with his words his imminent death, Chengjun had already accepted the end to his life. Did he think that preparing himself to die proved that he had no attachment to living or dying?
Let's think about it for a moment. What might have happened if Chengjun had reinforced his righteous thoughts and said to himself, "I must not die! I must overcome the demonic persecution and walk out of this place alive! I shall cooperate with fellow practitioners' rescue effort while asking for Teacher's protection and reinforcement of my righteous thoughts! I must completely deny the old forces' arrangements of the persecution against me! I will only accept the cultivation path that Teacher had arranged for me! I pledge to assist Teacher with his Fa-rectification until its completion!" What might have happened if Chengjun had regarded the physical symptoms of imminent death as the demons' illusion to crush his spirit? What might have happened if Chengjun had said to himself, "As long as I am alive and kicking, I am determined to walk out of here alive!" Perhaps he would still be alive and still be helping with the truth-clarification work! Teacher said,
"Since human beings have sentimentality, being upset is sentimentality, so are happiness, love, hatred, enjoying doing one thing, resenting doing another thing, preferring one person to another, hobbies, and dislikes." ("Demonic Interference in Cultivation" in Lecture Six of Zhuan Falun)
Since "enjoying doing one thing" and "resenting doing another thing" are rooted in sentimentality, could "fear" and "fearlessness" are also be rooted in sentimentality? If that's the case, both "fear" and "fearlessness" are capable of bringing out our humanness. Teacher said,
"And with no attachment to living or dying
He walks his path of Fa-rectification openly and nobly"
("Righteous Thoughts and Righteous Actions")
I now realize that we need to remove the attachment to both "living" and "dying." That's the true state of emptiness. Teacher said,
"What is emptiness? Being free of attachments is the true state of emptiness."
("What is Emptiness?" in Essentials for Further Advancement)
Besides, I don't believe that having no attachment to living means embracing death or giving in to death. As Falun Gong practitioners in the Fa-rectification period, we should choose to live in order to help Teacher save lives.
I, too, had a few brushes with death when Jiang Zemin's henchmen tortured me cruelly and when I faced the rotten demons' persecution in disguise of severe symptoms of sickness karma. During those periods, I was often interfered with such thoughts as, "I don't fear death. Let it come!", "I can let go of this 180-lb body," or "Death is nothing but tossing away my physical body in the human realm." In addition, I once used to carry the thought, "I do not fear the danger of arrests," when I clarified the truth about Falun Gong to people. In hindsight, I was not very rational and, thus, I ignored my safety. I might have appeared to be "fearless" on the surface, but I was actually attached to the notion of being "brave." It was by no means a righteous thought. It was a major loophole, because I had submitted to the old forces' arrangements, which included being arrested. The truth is that we should think of nothing but helping Teacher with his Fa-rectification and offer the worlds people Teacher's salvation until the completion of the Fa-rectification. In other words, when we are determined to walk only on the path Teacher has arranged for us, we would never have these worldly thoughts.
Teacher said,
"When my disciples have sufficient righteous thoughts
Teacher has the power to bring them back to heaven"

Teacher's words keep echoing in my heart. Starting with 2005, let's further reinforce our righteous thoughts and fulfill our pledge by doing the Three Things well. We must not allow the evil to take away any more fellow practitioners!

(Clearwisdom.net) When clarifying the truth about Dafa in certain fields, complicated superficial appearances arranged by the old forces in that field have blocked practitioners' understanding. However, sometimes practitioners in a different field can see this. But since they don't have the conditions or the abilities needed to clarify the truth in that field, they feel too far away to be able to help. I realize that this phenomenon exists in our present tasks of validating the Fa. It blocks our coordination as one body while clarifying the truth, which has decreased our power in clarifying the truth and validating the Fa. It blocks our harmonizing as one body.
In Teaching the Fa at the 2004 International Fa Conference in New York, a fellow practitioner brought forward this question to Master, "It seems that fellow practitioners as a whole do not pay much attention to overcoming the evil's economic persecution..." This question indicated that we couldn't clearly realize the old forces' arrangements in the area of finance. In fact, not only haven't we paid much attention to the evil's economic persecution, in many other areas such as political, physical, educational, and legal areas we haven't paid much attention either.
From the perspective of breaking the old forces' arrangements, for example while clarifying the truth to government agencies from other nations, fellow practitioners have felt a huge resistance. Although they [the other nations] expressed their sympathy with our being persecuted, they didn't take effective actions to stop the persecution. The main reason is that the old forces have set up blockades we haven't paid importance to. We haven't broken through them in our minds.
For example, the CCP put forward "Five Fundamentals of Peaceful Coexistence," which makes some government officials from other countries confused about "human rights" and "sovereign rights." It also serves as a shield for the evil regime. Whenever it is denounced for its human rights problems, it uses the excuses of "internal affairs" and "sovereign rights" to deny and threaten some nations and governments. Its spokesperson Sun Yuxi did exactly the same thing at the 2002 International Human Rights conference. I hope fellow practitioners who are clarifying the truth to all nations pay more attention to this issue and break through the old forces' arrangements of "Five Fundamentals of Peaceful Coexistence" that interfere with validating the Fa and clarifying the truth.
Some of the arrangements made by the old forces not only interfere with and persecute the Fa-rectification; they are also important factors that cause human notions to be abnormal and thus cause humankind to head towards ruin.
Some fellow practitioners are specialized in law and "clarify the truth" to legal professionals. Nowadays, all countries around the world especially value law, regarding them as the underpinning of national existence. There are numerous laws and statutes. People all over the world, including those who make the laws and those who study the law, all know that a nation cannot function well without law. Human society already had simple laws when the existence of nations came about. As human history has progressed, the number of laws has increased from a few simple items at the beginning to many, many more nowadays.
"What is the use of law?"
We realize from the Fa that every region around the world has experienced changes in the forms of society. No matter what kind of form a society may take, the moral standard of human beings can only degenerate as human's material living standard improves. Human morality maintains humanity's existence. It is because of the existence of human beings that various forms of society develop. In short, the law is to enforce the maintenance of human moral standards. It maintains the human moral standard at certain levels. If you go beyond the limits, the law will punish you. If we take a look at human history, it is not that the law at certain periods was not perfect, but that the moral standard of human beings living in that period was higher. The time when the number of laws became more numerous was exactly the time when human moral standards were quite low.
It resembles a barrel of water, where "water" is human morality and "barrel" is the law. Water is limited in the barrel. If the barrel has a hole, water will flow out, which represents the lowest borderline in human morality being already corrupted. Then, a law will be made to block the hole. But as the number of laws increase, the number of holes increase, further increasing the number of laws. As human morality becomes more and more degenerate, holes in the law are everywhere. Humans then feel that the law can never be perfect, and hence the number of laws become more and more. Corrupt morality is like fierce floods and savage beasts which cannot be merely confined by laws. The only way to overcome this is to improve human moral standards and to stop people from falling below the minimum standard.
We Dafa practitioners are doing such a thing. However in their arrangements, the old forces allowed laws to have nothing to do with morality, which has caused human beings completely unable to realize that laws sever morality. In the Fa-rectification period, the evil in China can thus use violence without scruples on practitioners who save human moral standards. The emergence of law has only strengthened the warped notions of everyday people. It also causes the Chinese people to follow no moral standard and thus take a road to ruin.
We know from the Fa that our responsibilities are not only to clarify the truth and save sentient beings, but we also have the mission of creating a reference for the future. I put forward this problem to bring this to the attention of fellow practitioners who are clarifying the truth in the law community. We must correct the aberrance that laws are unrelated to morality, and ensure that the law in future society exists for the purpose of upholding human morality.
(Clearwisdom.net) Nowadays, due to the popularity of the Internet and the widespread usage of email, more and more people are sharing information via email. They email their friends funny jokes, skits, or useful information using email groups. Email groups allow a person to send emails to hundreds or even over a thousand people at once.
For example, I often receive experience sharing articles and event notices from fellow practitioners. I also use email groups to send good articles, interesting findings, and exciting news from practitioners' publications to my current and former schoolmates, bosses, teachers, co-workers, and students, etc. I've been doing this for quite some time now, and I feel that this is a good way to clarify the truth about Falun Dafa. It's like Teacher said in his poem, "Dafa is Good":
"Falun Dafa is good
Gradually entering the human realm"
I'd like to share my experience with fellow practitioners here.
As a practitioner in the Fa-rectification period, reading articles on the Minghui (Chinese language version of Clearwisdom) website has become an indispensable part of my daily routine. Many articles are for practitioners, and everyday people may not be able to understand them. However, there are also a good number of articles which talk about cosmic changes, especially recently. Many of these articles have pictures that were taken by NASA's Hubble Space Telescope. These type of articles can be shared with my non-practitioner friends since they are interested in these topics.
Whenever I come across articles that may be of interest to my everyday friends on various websites, I use the "Send Page by Email" function under the "File" menu of my browser to send the articles to friends in my email groups. They're happy to receive a pleasant email message.
The content in my emails are related to everyday life. But the source of the content is often the various media outlets supported by practitioners. After my friends finish reading the articles I send to them, they can click on the links on the web page and browse other information. Each week, I will send several articles to my friends. Sometimes I will even send one or two articles each day. This way, my friends have a chance to establish a long-term relationship with such great news sources as The Epoch Times, New Tang Dynasty, and Sound of Hope websites. I send them many articles, including the news of "Falun Gong Founder Talks About 'Nine Commentaries' and Withdrawal from CCP (Chinese Communist Party) in San Francisco" from the Epoch Times website. I feel that letting people see photos of Teacher helps them a lot too. Using this method, I became a one-person news outlet and media center.
Advertising specialists know that to make their advertising effective, consumers need to see the message over and over again. One exposure to certain information is far from enough. In order to form a permanent image in a person's mind, a person would have to be exposed to the object at least 21 times. From this perspective, when we talk to our everyday friends and clarify the truth to them, one time may not be enough. Maybe they didn't listen to it with their heart at the time, maybe they forgot it afterwards, or maybe they were influenced by evil factors. If we can add a person's email address to an email group, this person will be exposed to truth-clarification communication channels for a long time. Every stimulation activity may clean up one small part of their mind, and eventually, their original benevolent nature will be awakened.
It is similar to clarifying the truth at points of interest in Hong Kong. When practitioners start telling Chinese tourists the truth about Falun Dafa at the first stop, Hung Hom [Train] Station or Lok Ma Chau Transfer Center, many Chinese tourists are indifferent or even upset. But as the tour bus pulls into subsequent stops such as Wong Tai Sin Temple, Zijing Square, the scenic overlook half way up the Victoria Peak, and the Jiawei Village shopping center, the Chinese tourists are exposed to truth-clarifying materials at every stop. By the time they go back to China, their view towards Falun Dafa has changed since they learned the truth.
It is easy for people to forget things, and we need to constantly remind them of the brutal persecution of Falun Gong in China. This is similar to how we practice Falun Gong - we need to study the Fa every day and share experiences regularly. Only through continuous and consistent truth clarification efforts can we unlock everyday people's long sealed off memory. They've been waiting for this unlocking for ages.
Since I started using email to clarify the truth a couple of years ago, I've been collecting email addresses from past and current friends and acquaintances. Maybe at the time I ran into them I didn't get an opportunity to clarify the truth to them in detail. But since I have their email address, I can keep in touch with them. Receiving an email from someone you know is very different from receiving an email from a total stranger. A person feels a sense of closeness and trust when they receive an email from someone they know.
If 10,000 practitioners in Taiwan can do this consistently, and let's say each practitioner's email groups contain 1,000 different email addresses, we can clarify the truth to millions of people in Taiwan. Isn't that a substantial number?
(Clearwisdom.net) I am a 45-year-old disabled person and need to use crutches when walking. I was afflicted with smallpox at two years of age. Later on, I also got diabetes, heart disease, blood accumulation in the pelvic cavity, and vertebra deformation. I couldn't care for myself. All the household work was done by my husband. For several dozen years I had been going to doctors and taking medicine to cure my illnesses. However, after an enormous amount of money was spent, nothing worked. After all the physical pain from the illnesses, the mental aguish plus the financial burden, I felt I would rather die than live.
At the end of March 1999, I was fortunate to have encountered the ability to begin practicing Falun Dafa. After only practicing for one month, my body had gone through a tremendous change. I was able to do housework and my body felt relaxed. Falun Dafa gave me a second life. My whole family was grateful for Teacher's immense compassion and praised the miraculous power of Dafa.
Through studying the Fa, I understood that the requirements of Falun Dafa cultivation were to follow the universal principle of "Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance," to elevate one's mind, to be a good person always, to cultivate to become unselfish and selfless, put others ahead of oneself always, and understand that the purpose of life is to return to one's true self. The desire to cultivate came from deep within my heart, and I decided to cultivate until reaching my goal. During that time, I went to the practice sites with other practitioners in the morning, and went to practitioners' homes to study the Fa in the evening. My mindset elevated quickly. I felt I was immersed in Teacher's care. I was very happy.
On July 20, 1999, Jiang Zemin colluded with the Chinese Communist Party to persecute Falun Gong. I went to Beijing to appeal to the government three times in an attempt to explain the truth. The first two times I was intercepted on the way to Beijing and was sent home. I was fined 500 yuan each time, once at the year's end of 1999 and the other on October 1, 2000. The third time I went to Beijing on October 4, 2000, I was able to stand in Tiananmen Square and shout, "Falun Dafa is Good," from deep down in my heart. I was arrested and detained in one of the local government offices. Later, I was sent back to my hometown and was illegally detained in the No. 2 Detention Center of Qinhuangdao City for 33 days.
During the sixteenth National People's Congress meeting in 2002, I was arrested at home by An Shigang, a policeman from Zhang Zhuang Police Station, and sent to the No. 2 Detention Center. I went on a hunger strike for 10 days to protest. I was released after 13 days. On February 8, 2002, two policemen, An Shigang and Zhang Peng, took me to the police station and attempted to force me to write a Guarantee Statement. I refused and was sent to the No. 2 Detention Center for the third time. I went on hunger strike for 10 days. When my whole body was filled with scabies, I was released.
After I got home, my whole body became dropsy, my mouth and eyes contorted, and I had blood in my urine. Through studying the Fa and practicing the exercises, the scabies went away and my mouth and eyes returned to normal. The blood in my urine also stopped. But dropsy was still there. At the end of March 2003, my eyesight became very poor and everything looked blurred to me. Even after being hospitalized and spending more than 4,000 yuan, I lost my eyesight. Today, my whole body is still dropsy, itchy, in pain, and lacks strength. I have difficulty turning my body. I can't take care of my daily life myself. I am suffering in tribulation too.
Through studying the Fa, I realized that I had walked on the path arranged by the old forces. The basic reason was that I didn't follow the requirements set by Teacher, which are to do The Three Things well.
1) I didn't study the Fa calmly. I had studied the Fa every day, but I didn't immerse myself into it and just fell into the formality. Therefore, I didn't comprehend the Fa well enough, and did not understand the Fa based on the Fa. I used the human mindset to comprehend the Fa. When I didn't feel well, the same symptoms appeared as what I had experienced before; I suspected I had the same illnesses. Thus, I thought I was a seriously ill person and began to doubt that Teacher was taking care of me. I found excuses to cover up my own attachments. Looking deeper into myself, I found that the deeply rooted attachment of curing my illness was still there. I simply was looking for comfort in the human world. I didn't follow the standard of the Fa to guide myself and didn't behave as a cultivator. Whenever I felt ill, the first reaction was to cry out: "Help me, Mother!" In a dream, I cried for the help of my family. I didn't think of myself as a cultivator and didn't think of Teacher. All these manifestations came from not having a solid foundation in cultivation.
2) I wasn't clarifying the truth as diligently as I should have, as I carried an ordinary mindset. Whenever others accepted my truth clarification, I was happy. However, when they didn't accept it, I would consider them as beyond saving. I didn't look within to find the true reason. Using my illness as an excuse for not being able to clarify the truth, I had accepted persecution by the evil.
3) I couldn't send forth righteous thoughts calmly. My thoughts and body were severely interfered with by the old forces. I was attached to how I would feel and how my body had changed. My mind followed my feeling. When I felt better, I was happy; and when I didn't feel well, I would think Dafa wasn't working. When fellow practitioners supported me in sending forth righteous thoughts, I sometimes did well and sometimes I didn't. I didn't have the righteous thoughts. When I would consult with fellow practitioners, I seemed to understand then, but would be confused later on. I was hindered by the human mindset: jealousy, competitiveness, low esteem, dependence, looking for comfort, fear, suspicion, being overly insistent, and sticking to my own thoughts. These mindsets were augmented by the old forces.
As I look back at the road I had taken, I found that my attachment to illness was the way by which the old forces used to persecute me. In the meantime, I didn't have a good understanding of the Fa. Together with too many attachments, the old forces were continually able to find the loopholes in me. I was arrested five times. Three times when I was released from the detention center, I didn't expose the evil because I wasn't beaten. I did not see the true evil nature of the persecution. I refused to look at the problem based on the foundation of the Fa. Instead, I used my own mind and considered this persecution was done by humans to other human beings. I believed that my being able to break out was because I had overcome the old forces arrangement and I felt happy about it. In reality, I was accepting the persecution and not totally negating it. This persecution should never have happened. The old forces are not qualified to test Dafa and Dafa practitioners. Only the path arranged by Teacher is the path we should follow.
I want to negate the arrangement made by the old forces and thoroughly break away from them. The path arranged by Teacher is the only path of my cultivation choice. No matter what I have done in the past, from now on I will follow Teacher's words and lay down the human mind and do well The Three Things. With respect to saving sentient beings, I will correct myself, and I will walk the final portion of the path with righteous thoughts and behavior. I will live up to Teacher' compassionate salavation and become a qualified Dafa practitioner.

Some persecution cases:
1) Mr. Sun Qunying is an unemployed resident of Qianjin Street, Liuhe County. In 2001, he was illegally sent to the Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City. While detained, he was beaten until he lost consciousness. His legs and eyes were both seriously injured and he became disabled. In May 2004, he was sent to the same camp once again and is still detained there.
2) Mr. Zhuang Qianyong is a resident of Jianshe Street, Liuhe Township. In March 2002, his home was illegally searched by police officers. He was arrested and sentenced to two years in a forced labor camp. Because he refused to give up his practice of Falun Dafa, he was doused with water and shocked with electric batons, injuring his legs and eyes. Currently his vision is impaired and he is not able to walk normally.
3) Ms. Zhou Xianqing is an unemployed resident of Jianshe Street, Liuhe Township. While police officers were attempting to abduct her, she jumped from a building and broke her leg, rendering her disabled.
4) Ms. Yan Yanlan is in her 40s. In 2002, she was sent to the Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City where she was forced to undergo brainwashing. After a sudden brain hemorrhage, she underwent major surgery and fell into a vegetative state. She is now beginning to recover.
5) Ms. Zhang Yuhua is 54 years old. In 2003 she was arrested for delivering truth-clarifying materials and was sentenced to three years in a forced labor camp. While in the camp she suffered from a blockage in a blood vessel in her brain and was released for medical treatment.
Practitioners who have been persecuted to death in the Liuhe County:
1) Mr. Sui Futao, 28 years old, was a resident of the Tonggou Village, Liunan Township. He was arrested on January 19, 2001 and was later sent to the Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City. He died on April 29, 2002 due to the persecution. His body was cremated without permission from his family.
2) Mr. Zheng Qingzhu, in his 70s, was a retired teacher from the 7th Middle School in Gushanzi Township. Before practicing Falun Dafa, he suffered multiple illnesses including high blood pressure. Since he began practicing Falun Dafa in 1997 he has enjoyed good health. After July 20, 1999, he was frequently harassed at home by police officers and officers from his school. His Falun Dafa books and audiotapes were taken away and he was pressured to write a guarantee statement. The stress of the constant harassment caused his old diseases to recur. He died in 2000 due to a sudden brain hemorrhage.
3) Mr. Liu Xuefeng, 42 years old, was an officer from the National Tax Department, Liuhe County. He previously suffered from kidney disease and could not find a cure even after treatment at many big hospitals. After taking up Falun Dafa in 1997, he became healthy and went back to work in 1999. After July 20, 1999, he was frequently harassed at home by police officers and officers from his workplace. Because he was not allowed to practice Falun Dafa and was forced to write a guarantee statement, his illness recurred. He died on March 21, 2004.
4) Ms. Hu Shenglan, 52 years old, was a resident of the Zixin Village, Liuhe County. She had a neurological disorder before practicing Falun Dafa, but became healthy through the practice. After July 20, 1999, officers from the township government harassed her at her home. Under this pressure and to protect her family members from the persecution, she gave up the practice. Her illness recurred and she died in May 2004 due to a brain hemorrhage.
(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Hong Lixian was a terminal cancer patient from Xi County, Huangshan City, Anhui Province. After practicing Falun Gong, she regained her health. Even the medical experts who performed her surgery admitted that Falun Gong has an amazing healing effect. However, exactly because of her perseverance in cultivation, lawless personnel from Jiang's regime and the CCP arrested her five times. As a result, her physical condition declined, and she was sent to the hospital wearing foot shackles. On December 23, 2004, despite the seriousness of her illness, she had to be carried by her husband to the court to receive a sentence of three years in prison. The judge said that the ruling was not from his own will but rather orders from above, because he could do nothing.
Below is Ms. Hong Lixian's own personal account:
My name is Hong Lixian. I am 39 years old. I am from Huicheng Town, Xi County, Huangshan City, Anhui Province. In September 1998, I was diagnosed with cancer and had surgery at the Chinese Medical Hospital of Huangshan City (medical experts from other regions were also invited to treat my case). However, despite their best efforts, they told me in the end: "Your cancer is already in the late stage. We are afraid that we are not able to help you anymore and you don't have many days left to live." I was only 33 years old at that time, what a heavy blow it was to hear those words. So I thought that my life would soon be over.
However, on November 28, 1998, I was fortunate to have encountered Falun Dafa. As soon as I opened the book, Zhuan Falun, I was attracted to Master's calm and compassionate image. I felt that I had met him before, so I read the book enthusiastically from cover to cover without stopping. Immediately I was deeply touched by the contents of the book and decided to start practicing Falun Gong. At that time, I had no feeling in my limbs and I was so weak that the veteran practitioners were somewhat reluctant to teach me the exercises. Because of my repeated requests, they agreed finally.
Then, miracles happened. I could not raise my hands before. However, the first time I did the exercise, I could hold my arms over my head. As my practice time increased, my body experienced positive changes. Two months later, I could look after myself and do chores for the family. In the past, I needed someone else to take care of me.
With Fa study, my mind was purified as well. Long-term family problems were solved because of my sincere behavior. My large family started to live a harmonious life. My family members were especially impressed by the power of Falun Dafa that had improved my health and personality. Even the medical experts that did my surgery all agreed: Falun Gong has an amazing healing effect. Falun Gong is good indeed and Falun Gong's Master is good indeed!
But since July 20, 1999, with the persecution of Falun Gong by Jiang's regime and the evil CCP, my home could never have peace again. On August 1, 2001, my husband was on a business trip, and only my child and I were at home. A group of more than 30 lawless people rushed into my home and abducted me. That night they ransacked my home three times. The first time they found some Dafa books, so they came back again and searched more carefully, but they found nothing. After returning to the police department, they thought about it and came back again. In the end, they took away the computer that we had purchased about two months ago. The next morning, they came to get the monitor and the keyboard. They decided that they didn't need the keyboard, so they left it but took away the mouse. But in the afternoon, somebody came to get the keyboard as well. Later on, we heard from someone who knew the situation that the Political Security Section of the Police Department was in need of a computer. Our PC was a fairly expensive one, so they wanted to use it and the keyboard was needed.
The lawless people found out that I had downloaded one of Teacher's articles for fellow practitioners, so they illegally detained me and confiscated my PC and printer. When my health problems returned, my husband bailed me out.
In October 2002, the persecutors forced me to attend a brainwashing class and didn't let me have any rest. They forced me to watch video programs full of lies and write a Repentance Statement. They promised me again and again that I could practice Falun Gong at home if I wrote the statement. I was extremely weak at that time and my husband said that he could help me write it. I let him cooperate with the authorities to write the Three Statements. Later, after I returned to my senses, I regretted it a lot and wrote a solemn statement on-line declaring them to be null and void.
At noon on August 21, 2003, eight people came to my house, six men and two women. They forced me into a car and took me to a hotel in Huangshan City secretly. Nobody in my home knew about it. I was illegally detained there for ten days and was forced to watch brainwashing videos until midnight. Then they took turns trying to coerce me into writing the "Three Statements." On September 1, they sent me to the Huangshan City No. 1 Detention Center and ransacked my home in an attempt to find some evidence. They used one of Teacher's articles to coerce another practitioner to acknowledge that it was from me but the practitioner refused. They also went to the elementary school to threaten that practitioner's 14-year-old son. They wanted him to claim that it was I who gave him the article; otherwise they would lock his mother up.
After several rounds of threats, the child finally wrote what they wanted. Then, the lawless people came to force me to admit it and write the "Three Statements". I refused them all. They illegally detained me for over four months. Because of the long-term persecution of my mind and body, I was too sick to get up and eat anything. They suspected that my illness was fake, so they put shackles on my feet and sent me to the People's Hospital in the city to have a check up. The doctor said: "She is very ill, and yet you still put shackles on her feet?"
The doctor said that I should be put in the hospital immediately, but the detention center still would not release me. They sent me back. In the end, the management of the detention center agreed to release me. Only then did the persecutors inform my husband that he could bail me out.
The fourth time they arrested me was at 6 a.m. on September 29, 2004. I was at home recuperating. More than ten people knocked on our door. My husband told them that I was still in bed. They rushed upstairs, kicked the bedroom door open and abducted me. They also illegally ransacked the house and arrested my husband. They locked me in an iron cell and wrote many words slandering Dafa. They wanted me to sign it, but I tore it up. They sent me to a detention center over 75 km (almost 50 miles) from my home. The director there refused to take me upon seeing my physical condition. After pressure from the police, the detention center finally agreed. My husband was also persecuted by implication. He was made to pay a fine of 10,000 yuan or be subjected to detention. Later on, they made our 13-year-old child borrow 3000 yuan to obtain the release of his father. But they forced my husband to pay another 2000 yuan the next day and ordered him to report to the National Security Division every day.
The third day after my arrival at the detention center, the director there took me to the hospital for a check up when he saw my poor health. The doctor said that my cancer had returned and spread to a lung and the affected area was quite large. So the director reported my situation to his upper management immediately. However, he received no response until I went into shock. The management called for an emergency van to be dispatched for me. My blood pressure was not measurable at that time and the intravenous drip was not working either. The detention center called the National Security Division about my situation and on October 21, they finally agreed to let my family bail me out.
On November 15, 2004, they took me away for the fifth time and put me on trial. They collected fabricated evidence and even the lawyers sighed after reading it. The court would not listen to any of my explanations or my lawyer's defense. On December 23, they sentenced me to three years in prison and wanted me to sign the verdict. I refused. The judge said: "The ruling didn't come from me. It was an order from above and I could do nothing about it."
My husband had to carry me into court. The lawless people treated me cruelly, a seriously ill patient and a kind Falun Gong practitioner who follows the principle of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance." The laws of heaven will surely not allow this to continue.

(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Zhang Guozhen was 1.55 meters (5 ft.-1 in.) tall and born in 1950. She worked for the No. 1 Farming Team of the No. 1 Village in Shouqiao Township, Tongnan County, Chongqing City, and she was the doctor in her village. Before she practiced Falun Dafa, she suffered from many diseases, all her teeth fell out, she had a prolapsed womb, and she had hemorrhoids, etc. All of these diseases disappeared after she began Falun Gong practice. Due to her firm belief in Dafa, she was frequently arrested and persecuted by the local National Security Brigade led by Captain Zhang Liang of Tongnan County. In June 2002, she was illegally sentenced to forced labor imprisonment and brutally tortured at the Maojiashan Women's Forced Labor Camp. When she was released, her whole body was swollen, and she died on February 3, 2005.

1. Officials Instigate Hatred, Intimidate with High Pressure, and Deceive and Entice People. Ms. Zhang Guozhen Had Nowhere to Stay
On February 29, 2000, Zhang Liang and his team from the Tongnan County National Security Brigade broke into Ms. Zhang Guozhen's home, took her to a detention center, and detained her for nearly six months without following any legal procedure. After she was released, she stayed away from home in order to avoid further persecution. She worked as a nanny for several months at a relative's home in Xiaodu Town of Tongnan County, and then went to another relative's home in her area.
In late September 2001, Zhang Liang searched everywhere to capture Zhang Guozhen, so she had to go to another relative's home far away. Zhang Liang monitored all her relatives using threats, cheating and enticements, "It is not a big deal. We need her to write something, and then she will be free and no longer need to hide. Whoever hides her will be arrested too." Moreover he also enticed the neighbors to report her.
Jiang's regime used means of "instigating hatred," "intimidating with high pressure," and "deceiving and enticing" to make Ms. Zhang's relatives and villagers regard her as an enemy, so she had no steady place to stay.
She later changed residence many times, and experienced the ordeal of being chased and hunted. One time she saw policemen looking for her, so she ran up the mountain, and sat in a reed clump. It started to rain and Zhang Guozhen's entire body became wet and muddy all over. Sometimes she stayed on the mountain for a long time, no matter whether day or night, sunny or raining. At one time she did not have any food for quite a few meals, so she went to a villager's home at the bottom of the mountain, and begged for a bowl of rice. During this period, one of her previous patients helped her and protected her.
Later, with the help of Falun Dafa practitioners, Zhang Guozhen left this horrible environment, but at first she did not take off her clothes when she slept, as she said she could get up and run if the police came. Afterwards, through studying the Fa and adjusting her mindset, she gradually ridded herself of this dark cloud.
2. Arrested Again, and Tragically Killed by Mistreatment
In early 2002, Ms. Zhang Guozhen went to Yibin City, Sichuan Province to clarify the true facts about Falun Gong. She was arrested by local police, and she encountered brutal torment and interrogation by torture. About ten days later, she was taken to Tongnan County Detention Center by Zhang Liang for further persecution. Zhang Liang stepped on her feet with his shoes, and stomped on her toes until they turned black. Zhang Guozhen refused to cooperate, and was illegally sentenced to two years of forced labor by the National Security Brigade of the Police Department on June 10, 2002.
In the Maojiashan Women's Forced Labor Camp of Chongqing City, policemen and drug addicts used all means to torture Ms. Zhang Guozhen, both physically and mentally. She once fainted, and both her mind and body experienced severe trauma. Because she was not allowed to practice the Falun Gong exercises and she suffered from torture, she became very emaciated and had a relapse of her old illnesses. Her womb prolapsed, bloody fluid seeped out, and she was in great pain. However, the Maojiashan Women's Forced Labor Camp was not concerned, and did not spare her. She was not released until February 2004, when she had served a full two years of forced labor.
After she came out of the forced labor camp, Ms. Zhang Guozhen had no source of income. One of her students, Zhao Qun, who learned medicine from her and lived at Xiaodu Town, Tongnan County took her in. She helped to treat patients and worked at the pharmacy, so she had a bit of an income. During that period, the local policemen often harassed her, and forced Zhao Qun to supervise Ms. Zhang, to not let her practice Falun Gong or do any truth clarification, otherwise she would be held responsible.
A few months later, because Ms. Zhang's edema became more and more severe throughout her whole body, she was no longer able to work at the pharmacy, so she moved to her nephew's place. Her nephew worked for a boss who feared being implicated, so her nephew was dismissed. Ms. Zhang had to temporarily rent a room, and later she could not get up from bed. After several months of suffering and pain, she died on February 3, 2005.
3. Outwitting the Evil Party and Renouncing the Communist Youth League Before She Died
Ms. Zhang had deep feelings during the five years of persecution, and a month before she passed away she wrote and sent out her solemn declaration to renounce the Communist Young Pioneers and the Communist Youth League. She was determined to break from the Chinese Communist Party.
Ms Zhang's daughter, who lived with her father after they divorced, was poisoned by the party, and her human nature had become twisted. After her mother's death, she did not feel that her mother's murderers were responsible. Instead she was angry with the victim, and held hatred for Falun Gong. She burned all of her mother's Falun Gong books and tapes.
Currently, four Falun Gong practitioners from Tongnan County are verified to have died from torture. They are Mr. Tang Yun (about 30 years old), Ms. Li Lanying (about 42 years old), Ms. Guo Sulan (about 52 years old) and Ms. Zhang Guozhen (54 years old). Other than Mr. Tang Yun, the practitioners have all been illegally sentenced to forced labor (Minghui website has records).
In 2000, police officers from the Tongnan County Detention Center were: Liu Zhongming (male, manager), Li Junhua (male, deputy-manager), Chen Jian (male, clerk), Gong Fuchun (male, clerk) and so on.
4. Re-enactments of Torture Methods Used on Ms. Zhang Guozhen

The police and detainee on duty create and operate a horrible atmosphere in the playground, and the criminals supervise practitioners completing their tasks in detail, and terrorize the detainees to break their wills.

(Clearwisdom.net) At around 10:30 a.m. on November 2, 2001, and from 4:15 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. as well as at 12:00 p.m. on November 24, 2001, in order to force incarcerated Falun Gong practitioners to write the so-called "four statements" and to give up practicing Falun Gong, the new comers' team of Handan City Forced Labor Camp in Hebei Province cruelly tortured Falun Gong practitioners Gao Chao, Liu Yanbin, Gao Jinzhu, Liu Shulin, Liu Jianjie, Wang Yanlei, Wang Baojian, Lu Haiming, Liu Ruiqing, Zhang Zhenjian, Zhao Guixiang and others.
They instigated the following villains to torture the practitioners. These people were all prisoners in the new comers' team of Handan City Forced Labor Camp, and were well built, robust persons:
Yang Jianbin: from Wuan area in Handan City. At least half of the detainees in Handan City Forced Labor Camp have been beaten by him
Zhou Shuxue: from Wuan City
Lu Shifeng: from the Lianfang First Construction Company, Congtai District, Handan City
Zhao Jijun: from Yangnan No. 2 Street, Yangqu River Mine, Fengfeng Mine District, Handan City

This time, the Handan City Labor Camp did not use electric batons or other physical punishment like before. Instead, they invented something called the "Flying Tiger Bench." In their own words, "It's so easy to transform someone; all we need is about 5 minutes. We'll make you do whatever we want."

Their method is as follows: They tie a practitioner's knees together with a bed sheet, make them face toward the wall and lower the practitioner's head so that the back of his neck touch the wall. Someone then restrains the practitioner's legs and buttocks making them unable to move. Then they push the practitioners' hands upward until they touch the walls. At the same time they tighten the bed sheet around the knees. When compared with the previous tortures such as electric batons and rubber batons, practitioners say that this was so painful that they didn't even know what the previous pain felt like anymore, and sweat poured out instantly. Some practitioners would pass out immediately, and just a few minutes' torture would make the practitioner unable to walk normally. After they tortured Gao Chao in this manner, for over a month he could only walk by bending at a 90-degree angle.

Such a cruel torture method was performed under the instruction of policeman Xue Peijun of the new comers' team of Handan City Forced Labor Camp. Xue is the key figure in the 610 Office of the labor camp, and is one of the main thugs who persecute Falun Gong practitioners.

1) Ms. Zhang Huanrong, 65 years old, a resident of Hengshui City, Hebei Province, lived with her daughter in Hengshui City. On January 3rd, 2004, police officers Wang Huimen, Zhai Qiming and others ransacked her home and abducted her daughter and son-in-law. The officers said to her: "If it weren't for the fact that you are weak and might die in jail, we would have taken you away too." Chen Yu, Zhang's daughter, was sentenced to 3 years in forced labor camp. Her son-in-law was sentenced to one year in forced labor camp. The mental burden was too much for Ms. Zhang to bear and on April 5, 2004 she passed away.
2) Ms. Zhang Guiqin, 68 years old, was a retired employee from Shuangcheng City, Heilongjiang Province. In the end of June 2000, she went to Beijing to appeal to the government, and was illegally detained at Shuangcheng Detention Center. Her company fined her 3,000 yuan. At that time, due to practicing Falun Dafa, her son was sentenced to 3 years in forced labor camp, and her daughter was detained at Shuangcheng City Detention Center for practicing Dafa. Her daughter-in-law was forced to become destitute and homeless due to the persecution, and has left two children at home, with nobody else to take care of them but Zhang. Ms. Zhang was under great pressure from her responsibilities as well as the persecution. Consequently, on August 26, 2001, she passed away.
3) Ms. Du Kerong, 62 years old, was from Bazhou City, Hebei Province. In 1999, she went to Beijing to appeal to the government, and was illegally arrested and detained by the police. In 2000, for putting up "Falun Dafa is Good" banners, she was abducted to the Politics and Security Division of Municipal Police Station by the police. There, she was beaten and threatened by a group of policemen led by Liu Dongfang. As a result, she was severely wounded and traumatized. She fell ill, and the results from the medical check-up showed that she had liver cancer, so she was sent home. In October 2000, she passed away. Upon her death, she still had marks on her body from being beaten.
4) Mr. Ding Chunrong, 60 years old, was a farmer from Youge Village, Baodi District, Tianjin Province. On December 16, 1999, he went to Tiananmen, Beijing to appeal. He was arrested and taken away by the policemen, then sentenced to one and half years in forced labor camp, where he was abused until he became very weak. He suffered a relapse of a former disease and was then sent home. Due to constant harassment of the policemen from the local police station, his disease grew much worse. On October 23, 2002, Ding passed away.
(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Bu Cuiqin was 72 years old and lived in Chaoyang County, Liaoning Province. Since she began cultivating Falun Dafa in 1996, all of her sicknesses disappeared, and she could read Zhuan Falun from cover to cover, even though she had never learned to read before. She was abducted by police in May 2001 while passing out truth clarifying materials, and was illegally detained for one month in Chaoyang County Detention Center. She was seriously injured during the detention, resulting in incontinence of feces and urine. She died in September 2001 after being released.
Mr. Cao Jinlin was 55 years old and lived in Cao Village, Yingzi Town, Botou City, Hebei Province. Even though he was practicing Falun Dafa privately in his home, the police still came to his house to harass him after July 20, 1999, when Falun Dafa was officially outlawed by the Chinese Communist Party. He was sent to a brainwashing class around September 15, 2001, where he was injured both mentally and physically, and died around February 20, 2005.
Mr. Qi Guangyu was 68 years old, a farmer who lived in Qijia Village, Wanjia Town, Pingdu City, Shandong Province. He started cultivating Falun Dafa in 2003 and obtained good health as a result. Local police arrested him and extorted three thousand yuan before releasing him. He died soon after due to the stress of being persecuted.

Case 1
Mr. Sun Baocai, who is in his 60s, was a resident of Group 15 of the Eighth Committee in Fuzhen Street, Liaoyuan City, Jilin Province. He used to be an employee in the Liaoyuan General Machinery Factory. He started Falun Gong practice in 1998. After the persecution began on July 20, 1999, personnel from the Fuzhen Police Station frequently harassed him. They ransacked his house without a search permit and confiscated Falun Gong books and tapes.
In August 1999, he went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong, and as a result was illegally detained for two weeks. He was in exile from November 2001 to June 2003 to avoid being persecuted. During this time, Mr. Sun Baocai's two daughters-in-law were illegally given heavy jail sentences and sent for forced labor. This was a heavy blow to Sun Baocai. He became bedridden for many days. Upon his return home from living outside, the lawless officials from Fuzhen Police Station went to harass and threaten him like they had in the past. This caused his illness to aggravate and he died on November 3, 2003.
Case 2
Ms. Zhao Shuzhen, 73, was a resident of Zhuangtou Village, Rushankou Town in Rushan, Weihai City, Shandong Province. The local police often went to her residence to harass her. Her oldest daughter was illegally detained many times for practicing Falun Gong, and left home for more than six months to avoid being persecuted. After she returned home, lawless persons frequently came to her residence to harass her. Her fourth daughter had also been illegally detained for practicing Falun Gong. As a result of a series of blows and mental pressure, and under extreme threats and fear, the older lady Zhao Shuzhen suffered for three months and finally died in December 2004.
Case 3
Ms. Wei Shuzhen, 71, was a resident of Gabatun Village in Dongguan Town, Kangping County, Shenyang City, Liaoning Province. Before practicing Falun Gong she suffered from many different illnesses. She could not do outdoor activities and had difficulty cooking. In 1997, after she started Falun Gong practice, all her illnesses disappeared. On January 3, 2000 (Chinese lunar calendar), the Gabatun Village Party Branch secretary and police station police illegally arrested her two daughters who also practice Falun Gong, and took them to the brainwashing classes in town. At that same time, Wei Shuzhen's oldest daughter became sick due to the persecution, and her condition was extremely serious. The town officials did not care about this. Thus Wei Shuzhen went to look for the village officials to get help but they did not care, either. Later her family members had to use a horse carriage to carry her back from the town because of her poor physical condition. After the incident, Wei Shuzhen didn't recover. She died from her illnesses on April 24, 2000.
Case 4
Ms. Gao Chao, who is in her 40s, was a resident of Anda City, Heilongjiang Province. She was a doctor. Before practicing Falun Gong she had a serious illness, but she recovered after practicing Falun Gong. She persisted in Falun Gong practice, and in 1999 she was illegally detained and put in jail. After being released she was harassed by the police many times and thus lost the original, peaceful environment for practicing Falun Gong. Due to nervousness and constant stress as a result of the persecution, she finally died from her illness in 2003.

1. [Hunan Province] Four Falun Dafa Practitioners on Trial at You County Court
On December 27, 2004, four Falun Dafa practitioners, including Ms. Wu Xueyi, Ms. Chen Yun'e, He Difan, and another practitioner from Liling City, Hunan Province were put on trial at the You County Court in Hunan Province. The trial ended in a rush on the same day.

2. [Linli County, Hunan Province] Jin Xinchun, Mr. Fu Jianping and Other Practitioners Arrested by Police
In early May 2004, Jin Xinchun, from Linli, was arrested by members of the Linli 610 Office. Jin was subsequently sentenced to three years of forced labor and held at the Jinniugang Detention Center in Linli County.
In early December 2004, Mr. Fu Jianping, an employee of the Linli Industrial Bank, was arrested by police while distributing truth-clarifying materials in Sixingang Town. Mr. Fu was cruelly beaten, and remains in custody at the Jinniugang Detention Center in Linli County.
In 2004, police arrested three other practitioners, including Ms. Wu Chuanrong and Ms. Yu Qianzhi. The police also extorted cash from the practitioners.
3. [Zibo City, Shandong Province] Ms. Wang Xunlan and Zhuang Shijun Arrested by Police
Ms. Wang Xunlan, 49, is from Hutian Town in Zibo City, Shandong Province. At 1:00 p.m. on December 9, 2004, she was arrested at work and taken to the Gongshan Police Station by officers from the police station. The next day she was transferred to the Zibo City Detention Center where she remains in custody.
Zhuang Shijun, 39, is from the Yongshi Living Quarters at Xindian, the Zibo District of Zibo City. On December 16, 2004, Zhuang was arrested by officers from the Bianhe Township Police Station while clarifying the truth at Nanshu. Zhuang remains in custody at the detention center.
4. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Information about Falun Gong Students Being Persecuted
Ms. Tang Qiongqiong, a railroad employee, has been sentenced to two years of forced labor.
Ms. Zhou Cuihua, retired, has been sentenced to three years of forced labor.
Ms. Yu Yaling, who is in her seventies, is a retired high-ranking official. Ms. Yu lives at the family quarters of the postal administration bureau. In July 2002, police officers and officer Li Zenglai broke into her home and arrested her. She was taken to the Hebei Provincial Seat Brainwashing Center for abuse.
Ms. Cui Xiuying is a retired official of the Hebei Province Telephone Equipment Factory. In October 2004, Officer Li Zenglai and other police officers posed as electric meter-readers. When Ms. Cui Xiuying opened the door, she was arrested and taken to the Hebei Provincial Seat Brainwashing Center. Her elderly husband was left at home with two young grandchildren.
Ms. Duan Liying is a teacher at the kindergarten of the Northern Design Institute. Police received reports that she clarified the truth to colleagues. Officer Li Zenglai and other officers ransacked her home and abducted her, and took her to the Provincial Seat Brainwashing Center for abuse.
Ms. Meng Xiangyuan is an employee of the Shijiazhuang No. 2 Printing and Dyeing Mill. She has been harassed numerous times by officers from the Qingyuan Street Police Station.

5. [Lianyungang City, Jiangsu Province] Several Practitioners Arrested
Since July 2004, the 610 Office in Lianyungang City, Jiangsu Province has arrested several practitioners and placed them in custody. This includes Mr. Jiao Jiaqian, Ms. Du Xiuju, Mr. Liu Naihe, Mr. Liu Shuye, and Mr. Yu Yue. The practitioners have been sentenced to one to four years in prison.
On December 29, 2004, members of the 610 Office arrived at the Shizhong Hospital and arrested Ms. Niu Jinhua, Ms. Wang Kejing, and Ms. Mu Qin. The whereabouts of the three practitioners are unknown.
6. [Wuchang City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Zheng Wensheng Being Tortured
Mr. Zheng Wensheng, 37, lives at Dashu Village in Changshan Township, Wuchang City, Heilongjiang Province. On February 7, 2001, he went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. In the fall of 2001, he went to Beijing again, and this time he unfurled a twelve foot-long banner. He was arrested in Beijing and sent back to the Xinghuashan Detention Center in Wuchang City. Detention center officers did everything they could to torture him, however Mr. Zheng held firm in his belief in Falun Dafa. While he was in the detention center, he was afflicted with scabies all over his body and suffered from constant pain and itching.
On July 3, 2003, Mr. Zheng was arrested again and sent to an orientation team in Hulan Prison. He started to suffer from kidney failure, lung infection, and a swollen body. He was in critical condition.

7. [Jilin Province] Mr. Fang Guangsheng Arrested and Tortured during Interrogation
Mr. Fan Guangsheng, who is in his thirties, is a teacher at the Ping'anbao Middle School in Bonihe Town, Jiutai City. Mr. Fan was twice sent to a forced labor camp for validating Falun Dafa. He spent a total of three and a half years in the forced labor camp.
In mid-December 2004, Mr. Fan clarified the truth to the school students. A parent reported this to the police. Officers from the Bonihe Town Police Station arrested him. He was later transferred to the Jiutai City Police Department, and he was tortured for four days. In order to extract information, the officers put a plastic bag over his body and beat him during the interrogation. He was also put on a tiger bench for punishment until he was nearly unconsciousness. The police then sent him to the Jiutai City Detention Center. The detention center authorities refused to take him, and he was released without being charged.
On December 31, 2004, officers from the Jiutai Police Department again showed up at his home to arrest him. He was dragged into a police vehicle and taken to the Political Security Section of the police department for torture.

8. [Beijing] Ms. Meng Qingxia, Mr. Yang Binghai and Other Practitioners from Changping District Arrested
Ms. Meng Qingxia, Mr. Yang Binhai and other practitioners from Shahe Town in the Changping District of Beijing have been arrested by officers from the Changping State Security Department and 610 Office.

9. [Sichuan Province] Supplementary Information about the Persecution of Zeng Daojun by Pingchang County State Security Officers
On February 21, 2004, Zeng Daojun went back to his/her countryside hometown to clarify the truth. Informants called the police. The state security officers in Pingchang County broke into Zeng's home and ransacked the house. They confiscated all the Falun Dafa books and truth-clarifying cards, and arrested Zeng and Zeng's spouse. Zeng Daojun was taken to the Pingchang County Detention Center and detained for fifteen days. Zeng was also fined 200 yuan.
10. [Jilin Province] Mr. Xu Yanjun and Ms. Zhao Haiying Arrested
On December 16, 2004, Mr. Xu Yanjun from Huadian, Jilin Province went to help relocate fellow practitioner Ms. Zhao Haiying. Officers from the Xinhua Police Station in Huadian arrested him. Mr. Xu's family members saw him tied to a steel tiger bench. When they demanded an answer from the officers for such abuse, the officers said, "We had to tie him up as he was about to hit the wall and commit suicide."
On December 16, 2004, the police received reports that Mr. Xu was helping Ms. Zhao with moving. The police arrived and confiscated Ms. Zhao's cell phone and depository receipts. When Ms. Zhao's family went to the police station asking for the depository receipts, the police came up with the excuse that the deposits were under investigation.

Most of these statements have come from Falun Dafa practitioners in China who wished to express regret that, in the face of physical torture and brainwashing, they had signed documents renouncing Dafa and guaranteeing not to practice again. Also, as more and more people in China learn the truth about how they have been deceived and lied to by the Jiang regime, many non-practitioners are also submitting "solemn declarations."

Facts of the Persecution
1. Crimes of Policemen and Collaborators from Wangcun Labor Camp
Mr. Yang Mingjun was a teacher at the Laiyang Nursing Vocational School in Shandong Province. He succumbed to the brainwashing and became of the collaborators. He has brutally beaten steadfast practitioners, such as Mr. Yan Honggang, Mr. Xiao Peifeng (who has been tortured to death), and Mr. Yu Zongping (from Jinan City). In order to reduce his prison term, another collaborator, Mr. Zhang Zhongli, pressed Mr. Yu Zongping down onto a stool and kicked him hard because he refused to accept brainwashing. Mr. Yu Zongping tried to reason with Mr. Zhang, but Mr. Zhang refused to listen and crushed Mr. Yu's hand with the stool, making his hand bleed. At that moment, a uniformed guard entered the room. Mr. Yu told the guard how Zhang had injured his hand. The guard did not punish Mr.Zhang, but instead reduced his term to encourage his actions.

2. Teacher An Jinting from the Northern China Petroleum Field Sentenced to Prison
Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. An Jinting, 38 years old, is a high ranking Chinese teacher employed by Northern China Petroleum Field Sixth Middle School. She was abducted and taken to a brainwashing class in September 2002, and was immediately sentenced to three years in prison. Ms. An Jinting is currently being held in Shijiazhuang City Third Prison.

3. Two Women Arrested, Tortured and Illegally Fined
1) Ms. Guo Xiushu, 55 years old, is a farmer in Hebei Province. She was detained after going to Beijing to appeal for Falun Dafa on July 20, 1999. Upon her return home, local officials repeatedly forced her into attending brainwashing sessions, and she has been detained multiple times, deprived of personal freedom, and has had her home ransacked. On February 19, 2004, she was reported while clarifying the truth with her fellow practitioner, Ms. Kong Haixia, in Daming County, Hebei Province. Police arrested them, and detained them in the Daming County Detention Center for one month, beat them, cursed them, and extorted money from them.
2) Ms. Kong Haixia is a farmer in Hebei Province. She went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Dafa on October 1, 2001, China's National Day. Police detained her in the Daming County Detention Center. She has never gone on a hunger strike, but has been tortured with force-feeding. Guards force-fed her corn meal through her nose. She was detained for four months and released after a huge amount of money was extorted from her. On February 19, 2004, she was reported while clarifying the truth in Daming County, Hebei Province together with her fellow practitioner Ms. Guo Xiushu. Police arrested them, and detained them in Substation, where she was struck hard across her face seven times. She was later detained in Daming County Detention Center for one month and released after the police extorted money from her.
