Clarifying the Truth to Family Members

(Clearwisdom.net) Clearwisdom has published articles about how many fellow practitioners have done a very good job clarifying the truth to non-practitioners. For many, though, clarifying the truth to family members have not gone smoothly. Practitioners from our practice site have had some good results, and I wanted to share their experiences.

About 40 people came to study the Fa together on a regular basis before the persecution. Some families had as many as eight people practicing Falun Gong. On July 20, 1999, five practitioners went to Tiananmen Square in Beijing to appeal on behalf of Falun Dafa. A large group of practitioners stepped forward, one after another. They did very well, especially in clarifying the truth to their families.

Practitioner A and her mother have attended lectures by Teacher. After the persecution started July 20, 1999, her father was very upset that they practice Falun Gong, because he had been poisoned by the Communist Party's propaganda. He said many things against Dafa. She tried to tell him that the propaganda was full of lies and to clarify the truth about Falun Dafa. Though she expected that he would understand, her efforts were in vain. Practitioner A took some time to measure herself against the Fa's standards. After finding her own attachments, she wrote her father a letter describing her opinions of Dafa. Through her persistent efforts, her father learned the truth eventually. Eventually, a Fa study group was established at her home.

Practitioner B and her daughter went to Beijing to clarify the truth twice after July 20, 1999, and afterwards both were sent to a forced labor camp. Practitioner B's husband was very angry with them. When practitioner B returned home from the forced labor camp, she tried to tell her husband how much she cared about him through her actions. He came to understand that Dafa was an upright practice of great virtue within a short period of time. Often, he would say to other people that Falun Gong was something so precious and something that can be carried on after we die. He praised his wife and daughter for their great deed of going to Beijing to clarify the truth about Dafa, and he spoke up for Falun Gong on some very important occasions. He later became a Dafa practitioner himself. Through deeply and widely clarifying the truth to practitioner B's relatives and friends, 20 more people now lead their lives according to Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance.

Practitioner C's family of four are all Falun Gong practitioners. They suffered severe persecution after July 20, 1999, because they went to Beijing to appeal to the government and handed out truth-clarification flyers. Practitioner C's younger son was sentenced to four years imprisonment and 2 years in a forced labor camp after that. Practitioner C has been persecuted several times. She and her older son often studied the "Fa" together to improve their understanding and their xinxing and to strengthen their righteous thoughts. When he was asked to choose between becoming a practitioner of Dafa or a Communist Party member, he chose Dafa without any hesitation.

Practitioner D and several people in her family learned Falun Gong and did the exercises. Her father is the General Secretary of the Communist Party Committee (CCP) at his company. He was also an assistant coordinator at our Dafa practice site. After July 20, 1999, only three people in the family still studied the Fa and did the exercises. The rest of the family members either stopped practicing or didn't dare to practice openly, and lagged far behind the requirements of Fa-rectification. Practitioner D never gave up. She tried very hard to clarify the truth. At the same time, she shared experiences frequently with her father. No matter what her father's reactions were, she was not moved. Finally, one day, her father came to understand the evil nature of the CCP and came back to cultivation. His family all came back to cultivate, as well. Now they work together on the three things that Dafa practitioners should do.

Practitioner E is responsible for all of the household work. After July 20, 1999, she wanted to go to Beijing to appeal on behalf of Falun Gong but didn't make it because of her attachment to fear. Her husband was opposed to her having contact with other practitioners. He did not allow her to read the Falun Dafa books or do the exercises. Through her persistent efforts and her words and actions, however, her husband came to understand the truth about Dafa. Recently he started to read the books and do the exercises with us.

Practitioner F has been to Beijing to validate the Fa twice. Almost every day she hands out truth-clarification materials. She clarified the truth to her father, the General Secretary of the Communist Party Committee in their village, so that he would know the truth about Dafa. Because of her efforts, he went from opposing Dafa to handing out Dafa truth-clarification materials in each district office. After her younger brothers and sisters learned the truth, they have come to support Dafa. Her sister and brother-in-law recently have started to practice the Falun Gong exercises, as well.

Practitioner G was the first one to come to the practice site in the morning before July 20, 1999. She was very dedicated to her job and had a serene mind. She was 50 years old, but her vitality and ability to endure hardships made a strong impression on everyone around her. Last year, her husband started down the path of cultivation. Now, her son is reading Zhuan Falun, and her younger daughter is also practicing cultivation.

At our practice site, there are many stories about family members beginning cultivation after the practitioner promoted Falun Gong to them. There are also many people in the neighborhood who have come to understand the truth. In the meantime, however, many practitioners' family members are still deceived by the CCP's lies and propaganda. We should all make our best efforts to clarify the truth to them for the sake of their futures.
