Some of the Persecution That Falun Dafa Practitioner Zheng Libin Has Experienced (Re-Enactment Photos)
(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Dafa practitioner Zheng Libin in Jiamusi
City has been brutally persecuted for the past several years because of his firm
belief in Truthfulness- Compassion-Forbearance. The most recent incident of
persecution took place around midnight on November 27, 2004, when perpetrators
from Malianwa Police Station in the Haidian District, Beijing broke into the
residence of practitioners Li Xupeng, Zheng Libin and Ma Wanli. They abducted
the three practitioners. The next day they sent the practitioners to the Haidian
District Detention Center. On January 2, 2005, being near death, Zheng Libin was
released. Below is an account of the persecution Zheng Libin was subjected to between
2000 and 2003. Zheng Libin has demonstrated some of the persecution he suffered
in the re-enactment photos below. On June 2, 2000, about 160 Dafa practitioners in Jiamusi City held an
experience-sharing conference in Sifengshan, and the police raided the
conference. Perpetrators from Xiangyang Police Station abducted Zheng Libin near
the site where the conference was held and sent him to Jiamusi Detention Center.
At the detention center, he held a hunger strike to protest the persecution. Four days later, inmate Wu Keming told the guards that Zheng Libin had been
on hunger strike for four days. The guard on duty took Zheng Libin to the
detention center clinic, where Wu Keming, doctor Gu, the guard on duty and Li
Dequan, the deputy head on duty, force-fed Zheng Libin. Deputy head Li Dequan
pried open Zheng Libin's mouth with a piece of bamboo paneling. He bit the panel
and broke it. Li Dequan then stabbed the inside of Zheng Libin's mouth with the
broken panel, which caused immediate, profuse bleeding. (picture 1). The perpetrators cuffed Zheng Libin's hands together and locked him onto a
bed with his arms and legs spread out and fixed to the bedposts. They then
injected him with unknown drugs. Two days later, they transferred him to another
cell and locked him to rings on the floor with his arms and legs spread out, a
torture often used on death row inmates. They kept him that way for over 20
days. They later sent him to the Jiamusi Forced Labor Camp to be held for one
year. On November 3, 2000, Zheng Libin and ten other Dafa practitioners protested
the illegal detention of fellow practitioner Jia Yongfa, who was being held
beyond his term and later tortured to death. Zheng Libin and the ten
practitioners broke free from the labor camp, which was a heavy blow for the
perpetrators. On February 22, 2001, Zheng Libin was abducted on a bus by perpetrators from
the Beijing National Security Bureau, along with practitioner Zhou Genzheng and
his wife, and practitioners Jiang Tao and Zhong Yang. The perpetrators illegally interrogated Zheng Libin, who refused to answer
questions. Police officer Zhang Wei said, "You won't say anything now. Wait
until we send you 'over there' where you'll really suffer!" The police took
away all of Zheng Libin's personal belongings. They interrogated him for three
days and three nights, a total of 72 hours, during which time they did not allow
him to sleep. Zheng Libin held a hunger strike to protest the persecution. In
the afternoon of February 25, the perpetrators blindfolded Zheng Libin and took
him to a house in a remote area, where some police officers and doctors were
present, wearing civilian clothes. On the second floor of the house, six or seven National Security Bureau
officers tied Zheng Libin to a chair and force-fed him (picture 2). The
force-feeding went on for two days and made Zheng Libin's nose and mouth bleed
profusely. On February 26, Zhang Zhiqiang, from the Preliminary Hearing Division
of Beijing's National Security Bureau, announced to Zheng Libin that he would be
placed under house arrest, although there was no evidence supporting this
decision. On February 28, Li Jing, the deputy head of the Xinan Forced Labor Camp in
Beijing, Cheng Cuie, the head of Division 2 and Jiao Xuexian, head of Division
3, tortured and verbally abused Zheng Libin. Li Jing shocked Zheng Libin with
electric batons and tried to force him to reform and reveal information about
other practitioners. Zheng Libin firmly refused. Later, the perpetrators shocked him three more times and cuffed his hands to
a chair. They took turns shocking him with two 100,000-volt electric batons for
one hour each time (picture 3). Zheng Libin's chin, hands, trunk, armpits and
both sides of his thighs were covered with scars from the torture. His hands
were severely swollen and could not even untie his belt. He has since suffered
from angina pectoris on a frequent basis. National Security officers Zhang Haitao, Zhang Yanchao, Lv Feng, Shi Lei, Xu
Jun and Zhang Zhiqiang witnessed this crime. On March 9, 2001, authorities from Jiamusi City took Zheng Libin and sent him
to Jiamusi Forced Labor Camp. They held him in solitary confinement for one
month. The small cell was cold and damp, without any mattress or bedding. Zheng
Libin was forced to sleep on the ground, and his physical body suffered great
damage. His lower body ulcerated as a result. On April 17, 2001, agents from Beijing's National Security Bureau took Zheng
Libin back to Beijing and held him in Beijing's National Security Bureau
Detention Center, located at No. 47 Dahongmen. This was done against the law and
against the Chinese constitution. We have heard that this center is directly
managed by personnel from the Preliminary Hearing Division of Beijing's National
Security Bureau. Upon arrival at the detention center, guard Shi slapped Mr. Zheng's face and
ordered him to memorize the detention center policies. One week later, during a
break period, the four inmates who shared the cell with Zheng Libin wanted to
see the five sets of Falun Gong exercises, so Zheng Libin showed them. The guard
on duty named Xu saw Zheng Libin doing the exercises. He called Liu, the section
head on-duty, and also section head Zhang. They took Zheng Libin to an empty
cell. All three persecutors had a 150,000-volt electric baton. They took turns
shocking Zheng Libin. They handcuffed him and ordered him to write a
self-criticizing statement. They handcuffed him for over 20 days, during which
time Zhang and Liu tried repeatedly to "reform" practitioner Zheng and
ordered him to write the three statements to renounce his faith, but
he refused. In mid May of 2001, perpetrators from the Preliminary Hearing Division tried
to videotape Zheng Libin but he refused. On May 16 or May 17, section head Liu
and the guard on duty took Zheng Libin to a room. They pushed him to the ground,
stomped on him and shocked him with several electric batons (picture 4). They
forced him to write reform statements, but he refused. They then proceeded to
torture him until noon. Later, section head Liu brought some paper, a pen and a dictionary and told
Zheng Libin to write a statement by the noon break. After 1:00 p.m. Liu said to
Zheng Libin, "It's not me who is making you write a reform statement. It's
an order from the superiors. It's not easy for a young man like me to become a
section head. I have to achieve something." Zheng Libin still refused to
write the statement. Then several guards beat and kicked him, and shocked him
with electric batons. Liu suddenly placed two batons under Zheng Libin's armpits
and shocked him, and Zheng Libin nearly vomited from the shock. (Photo 5) Zheng Libin confronted the guards, saying, "Why are you locking me up
and torturing me? What crime did I commit?" The guards stopped trying to
make him write a reform statement but said that he could not do the Falun Gong
exercises. They sent him back to his cell after 7:00 p.m. that same day. On June 2, 2001, Zheng Libin was transferred to the Beijing No. 1 Detention
Center (also known as "Division 7"). The perpetrators held him under
criminal detention without following any legal procedures. In mid-June,
preliminary hearing officials from the Beijing Police Department No.1 Division
threatened Zheng Libin many times and tried to coerce him into taking part in a
staged interview that would be part of a Focal Point Interview program
for CCTV. Zheng Libin refused to cooperate. The officials took him to an
interrogation room, where five or six reporters carrying video cameras were
present. Li Yuqiang, a journalist from Focal Point Interview, told Zheng
Libin to read from a script while holding a microphone to his mouth, and told
him to admit things he didn't do. Zheng Libin said, "You are persecuting
me! Everything that is forced upon me right now is persecution!" After 45 days of criminal detention, the holding period of Zheng Libin had
exceeded the legal limit. Zheng Libin asked the guards to let him speak with the
supervisor. He asked three times but received no response. On September 19,
officers from Division 1 of the Beijing Police Department announced to Zheng
Libin that he was sentenced to two years of forced labor, despite the complete
absence of criminal evidence. They ordered him to sign the verdict statement but
Zheng Libin refused. On October 29, 2001, he was sent to the Tuanhe Dispatch
Division. He was held at the Tuanhe Dispatch Division for seven days, during which time
he was forced to get up at 5:00 a.m. and remain standing until past 11:00 p.m.
On November 7, Zheng Libin and 35 other practitioners were sent to the Tuanhe
Forced Labor Camp. There are three divisions at Tuanhe Forced Labor Camp for holding Falun Gong
practitioners. Zheng Libin was first sent to Division 5. The next day he was
sent to Division 2, where the most brutal torture of Falun Gong practitioners
was taking place. Someone told Zheng Libin, "Jiang Wenlai, the head of
Division 2, is one of the 'four head bullies' at the labor camp, and deputy
division head Ni Zhenxiong is the most vicious." Practitioner Lin Chengtao suffered a mental breakdown from the torture he
suffered at Division 2. This is where practitioner Lu Changjun was stuffed into
a basin and crammed into the narrow space under a bed until his spine broke,
resulting in paralysis. Class 1 and Class 2 of Division 2 are monitored by surveillance cameras.
Zheng Libin was sent to Class 2. In the evening on the first day, he was
subjected to brainwashing. The perpetrators sent in a group of
collaborators, who surrounded Zheng Libin and didn't allow him any
sleep. They barraged him with lies and twisted logic daily until after midnight
for 15 days. Because Zheng Libin still refused to give up Dafa, they transferred
him to the West Building, where determined Falun Gong practitioners were
subjected to even more severe torture. Each day saw heads of different classes
brainwashing Zheng Libin until past 3:00 a.m. Soon after he went to sleep, the
perpetrators made him get up and run on the drilling ground. In order to resist
the persecution, Zheng Libin refused to talk to the perpetrators and leaned over
the heating radiator to sleep. The persecutors woke him up. Zheng Libin resisted
the persecution and firmly refused to do the labor camp exercises. He also
seized all opportunities to clarify the truth to the inmates. By mid-December, the authorities saw that Zheng Libin could not be forced to
give up Dafa. They were afraid that the inmates would learn the truth from him,
so they transferred Zheng Libin and four other practitioners to Division 1, also
called the Labor Affairs Division. Ni Zhenxiong, the deputy head of Division 2,
threatened Zheng Libin many times, "If you don't reform, we'll shock you
with electric batons." Zheng Libin still refused to compromise. In the
meantime he collected evidence of the perpetrators' crimes and smuggled them
out. Once he was discovered sending information out, and he was then transferred
to Division 7, where drug addicts are held. Practitioners Gong Chengxi, Li
Xupeng and Zhang Xiangyu were also held there. Zheng Libin refused to do slave
labor and refused to follow the policies and arrangements by the labor camp. In October 2002, Zheng Libin and three other practitioners started to bring a
lawsuit against the perpetrators. Zheng Libin charged the authorities at
Beijing's National Security Bureau with physical and psychological abuse. He
also charged Li Jing, deputy head of the Tuanhe Forced Labor Camp (formerly
deputy head of the Xinan Female Forced Labor Camp), Jiao Xuexian, head of
Division 3 of the Xinan Female Forced Labor Camp and Cheng Cuie, the head of
Division 2. When officials from the Beijing Labor Reeducation Bureau went to Division 7
to investigate drug trafficking and drug abuse by the guards, Zheng Libin gave
his lawsuit statement to two officials and asked them to turn it in to the
Beijing Intermediate People's Court for him. He never received any response. Once, the division heads went to the cells to inspect the inmates. They
kicked practitioner Zhang Xiangyu because he refused to sit on a stool designed
for inmates. When they went to the cell where Zheng Libin was held, they saw him
sitting on the bed. They ordered him to get out of the bed and stand up. Zheng
Libin ignored their order. Group head Yang walked up and pulled Zheng Libin off
the bed and into the hallway, where he slapped Zheng Libin's face and kicked
him. Zheng Libin said loudly, "Why did you slap me? Why did you kick
me?" Several guards dragged him into the office, pinned him down and
handcuffed him. Yang continued to beat him, and Zheng Libin kept asking why the
perpetrators, as administrators of the law, were violating the law. The guards
dragged him into a large room, and his shoes fell off in the process. During his
struggle to free himself, Zheng Libin kicked Yang's leg by accident, and six or
seven guards surrounded Zheng Libin and violently beat him. They then tied him
to a wooden plank for an entire afternoon. (Picture 6) Zheng Libin's body was covered with bruises. He was sent to a hospital and
diagnosed with soft tissue injuries in the spinal cord. He suffered chronic pain
and functional impairment, and was bedridden for over one month. After the
beating, other practitioners realized that they should not acknowledge the
persecution. With practitioner Li Xupeng as the representative, the practitioners demanded
many times that those who beat Zheng Libin be punished and a case be filed with
the labor camp. They also demanded that they apologize to Zheng Libin and pay
for his medical expenses incurred as a result of the injuries sustained from the
beating. The practitioners acted with righteous thoughts and righteous actions,
and the guards were afraid their crime of abusing and selling drugs would be
exposed in the process. Division head Zhao Aiguo apologized to Zheng Libin and
said he represented the whole division. Zheng Libin said, "You do not
represent the whole division. Every guard who took part in my persecution must
apologize to me." Then the guards who beat Zheng Libin apologized to him
one by one. Later in the month, the perpetrators searched the cells and Du Qiwen, deputy
head of the labor camp, confiscated Zheng Libin's Dafa books, law books, and the
original and a copy of his lawsuit against Li Jing. Zheng Libin asked for them
back many times but Du Qiwen refused to return them, saying that Zheng Libin
didn't say "report" when he exited the door and didn't stand up when
he saw Du Qiwen. Because the authorities were afraid that the Falun Gong practitioners would
expose their crimes of using and selling illegal drugs, they transferred
practitioners Zhang Xiangyu, Li Xupeng and Zheng Libin out of Division 7 in
mid-February. They sent Zheng Libin to Division 2. Several days later, Jiang Wenlai, the head of Division 2, and new labor camp
deputy head Li Jing went to talk to Zheng Libin and asked him to write a reform
statement. Zheng Libin said, "I was persecuted so severely and my health
has deteriorated greatly as a result. I can't just let it go. I am writing a
lawsuit right now." Li Jing said, "Look, the CCP Sixteenth Congress
has been held. The CCP is still in power, so how can you win the lawsuit?"
Zheng Libin said, "I'll continue with the lawsuit no matter what." The practitioners who refused to reform all received illegal extensions of
their terms. The perpetrators prepared documents and planned to extend Zheng
Libin's term. Li Jing, the new deputy head of the labor camp, learned that Zheng
Libin was filing a lawsuit against him, so he tried very hard to send Zheng
Libin back to Jiamusi City. On April 17, 2003, Zheng Libin was sent back to the Jiamusi City Forced Labor
Camp. One week before the transfer, the authorities sent him to the Group Drill
Division to prevent him from delivering evidence of the persecution to
outsiders. Right before Zheng Libin was sent away, he asked the labor camp
authorities for the illegally confiscated Dafa books, law books, clothes, and
the X-rays that were taken after a beating. Ren Baolin, the head of
Administration Section, refused to give him his things and said, "We'll
mail them to you after you leave." April 17, 2003 was also the day Zheng Libin's term expired. Zhang Hongguang,
head of the Xiangyang Police Station in Jiamusi City, and another police officer
took him to Jiamusi City. They lied to him and sent him to the Jiamusi Forced
Labor Camp. Xu Hengji, the head of the Administration Section of the Jiamusi
Forced Labor Camp, accepted Zheng Libin without following any due procedures in
order to continue to persecute him. Zheng Libin questioned division head Liu
Hongguang, "Why are you illegally detaining me?" The perpetrators
cuffed him to a bed so that he could not get up. They cuffed his hands to
opposite sides of the bed for over three months, until his spine became
deformed. Inmates Yu Haiyang, Qiu Hongbin and others robbed Zheng Libin of his
belongings. Zheng Libin held a hunger strike to protest the persecution. He
asked Wang Hongming, the labor camp prosecutor, many times to file a lawsuit
against the labor camp and the police department. A procuratorate official told
him to file a lawsuit after he is released, saying that this was the
government's policy. Zheng Libin was held for three months and 19 days at Jiamusi Labor Camp
before he was released. The local police forced Zheng Libin's family to sign a
guarantee statement first because Zheng Libin still persisted in practicing
Falun Gong.
