(Clearwisdom.net) I was illegally detained at a detention center in 2002. Besides the Dafa practitioners, the people who were detained there also included a lot of people who were imprisoned because they could not pay their bank loans. In the prison where I was detained, there was a young peasant named Li. He was detained for a few months because he owed 600 yuan (about 70 dollars) to the bank. He slept beside me. The middle finger of his left hand was injured and festered for a long time. He was in agony and seldom spoke. When I was clarifying the truth to others, he just listened quietly. One night he told me, "After I heard what you told people about the principles of Falun Gong, I feel I am damned!" I was surprised and asked him, "Why?" He said, "I have done a lot of bad things. I am not a good person based on the standards of Falun Gong!" Then, ashamed, he told me regretfully the wrong things he had done. I told him sincerely, "It is good that you realize your mistakes. In the future when you get out, please be a good person according the standards of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance." He said, "Definitely!"
About ten days later, Li suddenly stretched out his left hand and excitedly told me, "Look! I did not take any medicine or apply any ointment, but my finger is completely healed!" I asked him what happened. He said, "These past few days I saw you meditate in the evening. When you were sleeping, I also did the meditation." I asked, "What have you thought about while meditating?" He said, "I just thought that Master Li is good and Falun Gong is good. I did not think of anything else." I was moved by his sincerity. I said, "Li, because you are sincere, the miracle of Dafa manifested on your body." Li excitedly told everyone about Dafa's miracle and thus let more people know the greatness of Falun Dafa. After that, he talked with me about things related to Dafa many times. I also persuaded him to renew himself and to try to overcome the tribulations he faced.
One day in the morning, a frightened Li told me, "It really scared me last night. When you were meditating, I also meditated silently behind you. But suddenly I felt wind blowing into my two palms and my whole body started to shake. I was a little afraid and I did not know what was happening. So I immediately stopped." I was very happy and told him, "This is a good thing! It tells you that you have a very good predestined relationship with Dafa and Master has started to help you. Do you have the courage to learn the exercises with me?" He excitedly replied, "Yes, I do." From then on, I taught him the five sets of exercises with the help of other people in the prison (who kept watch so the guards would not find out).
Soon after that, another young man who was in the prison section next door was transferred to the place where I was detained. He had learned the exercises from another practitioner who had already been released a few days earlier. Once he came here he was very happy and told me, "I really wanted to come to your place. Finally my wish has come true." I realized that it was Master's mercy and that I had the responsibility to help these two new practitioners to study the Fa and do the exercises. That night, I told them that we not only needed to practice the exercises, but that we also needed to pay attention to the cultivation of our xinxing. I also told them that the prerequisite of cultivation practice is to study the Fa well. I repeated Master's instructions from the article, "Drive Out Interference," which I had memorized:
"The Fa can break all attachments, the Fa can destroy all evil, the Fa can shatter all lies, and the Fa can strengthen righteous thoughts."
We three were a small group for cultivation practice and Fa study. We decided to do the exercises separately every day and study the Fa as a group at seven o'clock every evening (the guards were all busy playing cards and watching TV at that time). We also sent forth righteous thoughts four times every day, along with the Dafa disciples around the world.
With other people's support, our Fa study group went very well. In the beginning, we mainly studied Master's articles. The articles were copied and put together from practitioners' memory. Later, practitioners from outside transmitted Master's new articles to us, along with a handwritten copy of Zhuan Falun, and a copy of the book, Falun Gong, so the content of our Fa study was abundant. We studied the Fa, as well as exchanged ideas with each other. We also discussed how we dealt with the xinxing problems we encountered. When we were studying the Fa, all the other people in the area were quietly listening. So actually this Fa-study group not only included three people, but also included all the people in the prison. Our Fa-study group lasted for more than a month in secret until I was transferred to another place.
From what I learned, these two new practitioners were eventually released and went back home. They continued on the road of Dafa cultivation practice. Under the compassionate protection of Master, I also walked out of the evil forced labor camp soon after that, and rejoined the current of the great Fa-rectification.
