(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Xu Chengben, an employee at the Yantai Sea Fishery of China Aquatic Products, has been arrested and detained by police seven times, sent to brainwash centers three times, and sent to a forced labor camp once. His wife Ms. He Xiuling was illegally jailed at the Nanjiao Detention Center, Yantai City, where the local 610 Office brutally persecuted her. She died on March 11, 2004.

The following is Mr. Xu Chengben's story. He went to Beijing in October 2000. He was arrested and jailed in the Haidian Detention Center, where he was subjected to brutal persecution.

My name is Xu Chengben. I learned Falun Dafa in October 1998. Many of the illnesses that had plagued me disappeared shortly afterwards. In six years, I have saved the government a huge amount of money in medical expenses. On July 20, 1999, Jiang Zemin and the Chinese communist party conspired to launch a campaign of persecution against Falun Gong. Falun Dafa and my teacher were smeared and defamed. My employer suspended my pay because I continued to practice Falun Gong. I have been illegally arrested and detained seven times, sent to a brainwashing center three times, and sent to a forced labor camp once.

In October 2000, while I was on my way to Beijing, I was arrested and sent to the Beijing Haidian Detention Center. Because I refused to cooperate with them, the police directed the inmates to torture me. I was not allowed to sleep. As soon as I dozed off, they slapped me in the face. They used a rolled up piece of paper to poke my nose and ears. It was so painful that I was in tears. In November, it is quite cold in Beijing. They stripped me and carried me outside where no one could see, and then poured cold water over me continuously for an hour. I was shivering all over. Then I was forced to stretch my arms on a wall, with my head down. With my legs hardly touching the ground, the inmates used their knees to strike my buttocks for over an hour. They also filled up a coke bottle and attached it to my penis with a string. Then they whipped the bottle around whichever way they wanted.

Police from outside summoned me and took me out for beatings with electrical batons. My face is beyond recognition as a result of the beatings, and my lips are badly swollen. They even sprayed drugs over my mouth and nose, which did not work on me. A week later, I was moved to a different cell, where they changed their tactics and pretended that they wanted to learn Falun Dafa. They told me that they would release me ahead of time and asked for my phone number so I could leave. I gave them the number, and I was then moved to the liaison office of Yantai City in Beijing. It was then that I realized that I had been fooled.

At the liaison office in Beijing, I was handcuffed together with a female practitioner. The practitioner said that she wanted to get out of there, which inspired me to try to get out too. We were handcuffed together, and as soon as she pulled her hands out, I had the handcuffs to myself. With Teacher's protection, I walked out of the office the following day.

I only had 14 yuan on me when I got out. I wanted to walk back to Yantai, but I was not feeling well and after walking the whole evening, I was still in Beijing. Teacher helped me again. I got on a bus and my handcuffs were unlocked after I got back to Yantai City.

In June 2000, I went to Beijing and was arrested by the Wendeng Police Station. I was again taken to the liaison office. The 610 Office official shouted that he would make sure that I gave in. I was brought to another room by two police officers from Rongcheng, where I was beaten up. They said, "Do you know what we do for a living? We beat people up." When I got back to Shandong province, police officer Li Yinglin, who was drunk, kicked me with his leather boots. Another practitioner named Zhou Shuxiang was also beaten. They body searched my wife and I, and took away 300 yuan. On the second day, four police officers led by Li Yinglin pushed me to the ground. They stomped on me all over for a long time, until it was time to get on the train to go back to Yantai. After I was released from Wendeng, my employer sent me to a brainwashing center. I was also fined 4000 yuan by the Head of Public Security Li Changhai.
