Six Falun Gong Practitioners from Beijing and Hebei Province Died under the Persecution

Ms. Ji Yongfang, 85 years old, was a resident of Xinchengzi Village, Xinchengzi Town in Miyun County, Beijing. Before practicing Falun Gong, Ms. Ji suffered from various kinds of illnesses and was critically ill on several occasions. After she started to practice Falun Gong in 1996, all of her illnesses disappeared. In March 2000, when she was practicing the Falun Gong exercises at home, personnel from the local police station forcibly took her away and persecuted her. After she was released, she had a relapse of her old illnesses. She passed away in May 2001.

Mr. Zhang Lianjiang, 56 years old, was a resident of the Dongtiange Village in Taishitun Town, Miyun County, Beijing. Because he persisted in practicing Falun Gong, he was sent to a forced labor camp for one year, between 2000 and 2001. In March 2002, he was again sent to forced labor camp. In the forced labor camp, he was tortured until he was in critical condition. In July 2003 he was released early and passed away that same year.

Mr. Wang Yanmin, 63 years old, was a resident of Jiujizhuang Village in Longmeng Township, Laishui County, Hebei Province. He started to practice Falun Gong in 1998. After July 20, 1999, when the persecution of Falun Gong started, police came to his residence to harass him many times. He was forcibly sent to brainwashing classes, extorted out of money, threatened, and subjected to other forms of persecution. In 2001 he was forced to go from place to place to avoid further persecution. In 2002 he became blind in both eyes. The police, however, continued to come to his residence frequently to harass and threaten him. Wang Yanmin passed away on January 9, 2004.

Ms. Zhang Xinye, 43 years old, was a resident of Wuan City, Hebei Province. After she started to practice Falun Gong in 1996, all of her illnesses disappeared. After July 20, 1999, she kept on clarifying the truth to people about Falun Gong. On many occasions, local authorities harassed and threatened her, causing her great physical and mental harm. She subsequently had a relapse of her old illnesses. She passed away in August 2003.

Ms. Li Fengru, 69 years old, was a resident of Wuan City, Hebei Province. Before practicing Falun Gong, she had many illnesses. In 1995, after practicing Falun Gong, she regained her health. She was illiterate, but she could read and understand the content of Zhuan Falun. She lived with her eldest daughter. After July 20, 1999, her eldest daughter was illegally arrested for appealing on behalf of Falun Gong. After suffering this shock and psychological blow, she passed away on May 24, 2000.

Mr. Jia Fengzhao, 79 years old, was a resident of Hezhai Village in Fangzhai Township, Guantao County, Hebei Province. His whole family practices Falun Gong. After he started to practice Falun Gong in 1998, he recovered from hemiplegia. He studied the books of Falun Gong, practiced the exercises and sent forth righteous thoughts. After the persecution started on July 20, 1999, the police came many times to his house to harass him and confiscate his belongs. They extorted almost 10,000 Yuan from him. In October 2003, several of his sons went into exile to avoid the persecution. Mr. Jia was both shocked and frightened, with no one to take care of him. On February 24, 2004, he had a relapse of his old illnesses and passed away.
