(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Miao Junjie lives in the Jinzhou area, Dalian City, Liaoning Province. He was sentenced to nine years in the ninth prison area of Wafangdian Prison. The prison staff not only prevents his family from bringing anything to him, but also won't let his mother visit him. His daughter, five-year-old Zhenzhen, can only visit once a month with her mother. Each visit is limited to half an hour. When Zhenzhen saw that fathers picked up the other children from her kindergarten class, she always asked her mother, "When will Daddy come back? I really miss Daddy."

Mr. Miao worked for the Aquatic Product Technical Advice Station in the Kaifa area. On October 28 1999, he went to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong and was arrested. Policemen from the Jinzhou area in Beijing extorted 2000 yuan from him, and detained him in Jinzhou Detention Center. He was released on January 16, 2000. His daughter was born on November 30 1999. His wife suffered greatly while he was detained.

On New Year's Eve 2000, policemen from the Jinzhou area police station followed Mr. Miao's wife, Ms. Li Xin, to her mother's home, and arrested the three of them, including one-year-old Zhenzhen. Ms. Li was detained at the police station for 18 hours and Zhenzhen was extremely scared. On the second day, the police returned and took Mr. Miao's rental release and all his identification.

Mr. Miao Junjie was then illegally detained in the Jinzhou area detention center. After he was on a hunger strike for 20 days, he was force-fed. He was released on May 23, 2001. On September 1 of that year, while visiting the Tangwang temple with fellow practitioners, Mr. Miao was arrested again. Fortunately, he escaped from the police station that evening. After that, policemen from the Youyi Street police station often came to his home attempting to coerce him into signing a guarantee statement. They threatened to send him to a labor camp. Mr. Miao was forced to leave home to avoid being arrested again. Zhenzhen was only two years old. Every day, she cried and asked for her Daddy. Mr. Miao's mother was in tears daily and her eyes suffered. She was later diagnosed with cataracts.

On July 20, 2002, policeman Yu Weidong arrested Mr. Miao in public. He was sent from the Zhanqan police station to the Jinzhou police station and detained at the Jinzhou detention center. Policemen from Dalian police station and the Jinzhou police station interrogated and tortured him. Perpetrators hung him up in the air and even hung a heavy water bucket around his neck.

The police extorted 27,000 yuan from Mr. Miao. It was a gift his parents gave him so he could open a business. His relatives asked officials to return the money. The Director of the Jinzhou area 610 Office, Li Wancheng, told them, "The money was confiscated. A cell phone and motorcycle were also confiscated." Official Gao Mingxi of the Jinzhou area 610 Office, always present when Mr. Miao was tortured, tightened his handcuffs to make the metal cut into his flesh. While doing so, he shouted, "Sue me if you can!"

After several interrogations, Mr. Miao had injuries all over his body. Relatives who came to visit him could not recognize him. After less than one month, Mr. Miao was sent to the Yiaojia detention center in Dalian City. The district court of the Jinzhou area sentenced him to 9 years in prison starting on March 3, 2003, without due process of law and without informing his family members.
