(Clearwisdom.net) On April 25, 1999, more than 10,000 Chinese
practitioners peacefully gathered outside the Chinese Central Government
compound to appeal for a legal and harmonious cultivation environment, and the
release of fellow practitioners who were illegally arrested in a nearby city.
The practitioners wanted to help more people know about the greatness of
Falun Dafa and the ongoing brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in
China, and to call on all circles to help end this persecution that has lasted
for nearly 6 years. On April 25, 2005, several thousand practitioners from all
over the world came to the streets of Manhattan to mark the 6th
anniversary of this historic appeal by holding anti-torture exhibitions and
photo displays and distributing fliers. At dusk, practitioners rallied in front
of the Chinese Consulate in New York to call on the Chinese regime to end the
persecution immediately. After the rally, practitioners held a candlelight vigil
to commemorate this special date and those who have been murdered in China
during the persecution.
