AP: Falun Gong denounces alleged torture of members in China ahead of Hu visit to Manila (Photos)
April 26, 2005 (Clearwisdom.net) Five Filipino [practitioners] of the Falun Gong
spiritual group denounced the alleged torture of thousands of members in China
during a small protest in front of a Manila hotel where Chinese President Hu
Jintao was expected to arrive late Tuesday. The rally was to raise awareness about [practitioners] who were allegedly
detained and tortured in China, said Falun Gong [practitioner] Jobo Lavina. Protesters displayed enlarged pictures of alleged torture victims outside the
hotel and hung a streamer reading "Stop the persecution of Falun Gong in
China." Lavina said Falun Gong practitioners will follow Hu during his three-day
visit to Manila. [...]
"We want to bring this to the attention of the Chinese president that the
Philippines are sympathizing with Falun Gong practitioners who are being
tortured," said Falun Gong coordinator Bing Felipe.
