Over Sixty Dafa Practitioners in Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province Arrested and Tortured - Ms. Hao Zhimei Persecuted to Death

(Clearwisdom.net) Recently more than sixty Dafa practitioners in Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province were arrested and illegally detained in the Qiqihar City First Detention Center. A retired teacher from Yifu Elementary School in Jianhua District, Qiqihar City, 61-year-old Dafa practitioner Ms. Hao Zhimei, was arrested on the evening of March 16, 2005 and died as a result of persecution on March 24. It was reported that the authorities secretly handed out ten-year sentences to all of them without going through any legal proceedings.

The Qiqihar municipal 610 Office and police department are still frantically hunting down and arresting Dafa practitioners, and every Dafa practitioner arrested is cruelly tortured by the police. Even more unconscionable is the fact that if they fail to find the Dafa practitioner they are in search of, they arrest the practitioner's family members. For example, the over-sixty-year-old mother of a male Dafa practitioner was arrested, beaten, and held in Qiqihar City's First Detention Center.

On February 28, 2005, a practitioner from Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province was distributing truth-clarification material in a supermarket, but unexpectedly there was a monitor there, and she was arrested on the spot and sent to the Longsha Police Department. Under torture, she divulged the identity of a practitioner couple. The couple mistakenly thought there would be no problem after they changed the cards in their cell-phones, so they made calls as usual with the handsets, but they were located by police and arrested. They were both tortured by the police. They in turn gave away the identities of other practitioners. This way, more than 60 practitioners were arrested, one after another, in Qiqihar City, and all have suffered torture. They are now detained in Qiqihar City's First Detention Center.

Dafa practitioner Qu Yongxiang was arrested at 9:00 p.m. on March 14, 2005 by police from the Xinjianglu Police Station, in Jianhua District. After his relatives heard the news, they found the people responsible at the Xinjianglu Police Station and Qiqihar Municipal 610 Office, and requested Mr. Qu's release. The people responsible said, "Higher authorities have ordered that there will be no flexibility in matters involving Falun Gong. We can release people who engage in a brawls, breaking and entering, stealing, burglary, gambling, drug trafficking, prostitution or murder if they pay up, but we cannot do a thing for a Falun Gong practitioner." They also repeatedly threatened Mr. Qu's relatives by saying, "Authorities from above have ordered that those who still practice Falun Gong are 'diehards', and if arrested, they are to be heavily punished. If they die after being beaten, they have died for nothing."

On March 16, 2005, practitioner Ms. Hao Zhimei was arrested at her home by police from the criminal division in Jianhua District, Qiqihar City, and held at the Qiqihar City First Detention Center. On the evening of March 18, she was illegally brought before a court by police from the criminal division of Jianhua District Public Security Sub-bureau. On March 24, Xinjianglu Police Station told her family members that she had died from a heart attack. Her family members reached an agreement with the police station, and had the funeral on March 28. The police warned her family that when they changed her clothes before the funeral, no cameras, cell phones, or other electronic equipment capable of taking a picture were allowed.

Dafa practitioner Ms. Xu Jingwen was arrested by the Shalong Police Department on the evening of April 11. The police hung her up and mercilessly beat her for six days, in an attempt to force her to reveal the identities of other practitioners, but Ms. Xu did not say a word. Her arms and legs were beaten purple, and she could no longer move. Ms. Xu still did not acquiesce. On the seventh day, because of her condition, the First Detention Center refused to accept her. Shalong Police Department had to issue an order and force them to accept her.

It was reported that persecutors have already arrested Dafa practitioners Luo Guixiang, Chen Wenxing and others from Longjiang County, Heilongjiang Province. The details are awaiting further investigation.
