Sweden: Large Audiences at My College Enjoy an Original Song about Human Rights in China (Photos)

(Clearwisdom.net) I am studying music at a college in the southeast of Sweden. One of the classes is African-American music, encompassing jazz, pop and rock. On the 2nd of March, the students were scheduled to show the school, along with their friends and relatives, what they have been doing in the classes by holding a Pop Night. I asked my teacher if I could sing one of my own songs and then rehearsed it with three of my classmates. The song is called "We Want Freedom for the People" and it is about human rights in China. I was inspired to write it after I read the "Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party" published by The Epoch Times newspaper about the Chinese Communist Party's' evil nature and the crimes it has committed against the Chinese people: http://www.theepochtimes.com/jiuping.asp

When I presented the song I briefly told the audience about its content and afterwards there was enthusiastic applause. Many people later approached me and said they liked the song and that we performed it well. They also understood the message and said it was positive with lyrics containing serious and meaningful content. I realised the power of music! I think that listeners understand how important a certain subject is when someone is putting his or her soul into writing music around it. My teachers were also positive and a couple of days later they asked if I wanted to perform it again when the school would have "Open House"! Of course I accepted.

"Open House" was held in the evening of the 16th of March 2005. It was compulsory for all students to attend because the school wanted to show all their education subjects to the public. It was opened with a meeting in the assembly hall where students, teachers and the public gathered (150-200 people). My song was the only music that was performed. I had asked my teacher before if I could tell the audience about the content of the song. He said that I should definitely do that, and that I should also tell them about Falun Gong. When I introduced the song I said that the song is about human rights in China, and explained why I was so concerned about that. I told them that I practise a qigong system called Falun Gong that is being persecuted in China. I also told them that the persecution directly affects over one hundred million people. When I said that I wanted to dedicate the song to the Chinese people, everyone applauded.

After the song, the teacher who was leading the gathering said that teaching is not to fill a container with a lot of facts, for instance geography, mathematics, music theories etc.., but it's all about lighting a fire. That something special is happening between people when they meet. He thought that the song we performed and the commitment against the suppression in China was an expression of that.

Song: We want freedom for the people

It has ruined a nation, the evil CCP
Hypnotised the population, made people think that they are free
But let's all speak out! Stop suppression now!
Mind control and torture is something that the world just can't allow

Chorus:
Ooh we want freedom for the people
Ooh let's all stand up for human rights
We'll make that icy northerly wind, turn into a summer breeze somehow

The world must speak out, when there's something wrong.
What scares dictators is when people know what's going on.
Soon a new dawn is rising, the red dragon will fall.
A shining bright horizon and finally the people are standing tall

Chorus:
Ooh we want freedom for the people
Ooh let's all stand up for human rights
We'll make that icy northerly wind, turn into a summer breeze somehow

Solo

Chorus:
Ooh we want freedom for the people
Ooh let's all stand up for human rights
We'll make that icy northerly wind, turn into a summer breeze somehow
We'll make that icy northerly wind, turn into a summer breeze somehow
