The Persecution of Practitioners in Jianyang City, Sichuan Province

(Clearwisdom.net) Since Falun Dafa was introduced to the public in May 1992, the number of practitioners in Jianyang City increased from several in April 1995 to more than 6,000 in 1999. Every month, Jianyang City practitioners held group study and group exercises.

Since the start of the Jiang Zemin regime's persecution, the authorities in Jianyang City have recklessly arrested practitioners, ransacked their homes, extorted money from them, stolen bank deposit certificates, taken away livestock and confiscated crops. More than 100 people have been detained, sentenced to prison, or sent to labor camps. According to incomplete statistics, four were persecuted to death, 14 sentenced to prison, 15 sent to labor camps, 103 detained without being sentenced, and one persecuted until he was mentally disordered. Many more were often harassed and had their property stolen.

The following are brief accounts of the persecution that practitioners have experienced in Jianyang City, Sichuan Province.

Four practitioners were persecuted to death

Mr. Chen Juwen, 66 years old, was detained several times. He had to leave home to avoid being arrested again and was persecuted to death.
Ms. Zheng Dairong, over 60 years old, was detained several times. Ms. Zheng had her home ransacked several times, and was persecuted to death.
Ms. Xu Binhuai, over 60, was illegally detained once. Ms. Xu was persecuted to death.
Mr. Laoshange from Jiajia Town, over 60 years old, was detained once. He was persecuted to death.

Fourteen practitioners were sentenced to prison

Mr. Xu Changzheng, 27, was sentenced to four years in prison.
Mr. Tao Changquan, 40 years old, was given a three-year prison sentence.
Ms. Xu Yongmei, 28, was sentenced to three years.
Ms. Yang Xiaoqin, 36 years old, was sentenced to four years in prison.
Ms. Ye Shunying, 40, was sentenced to six years.
Ms. Cai Lijuan, 35 years old, was given a three-year prison term.
Mr. Wang Huazhang, 70, was sentenced to three years.
Mr. Wang Yongcheng, 58 years old, was sentenced to a prison term of three years.
Mr. Zhong Taixing, 68, was sentenced to two and a half years.
Ms. Xiao Huiqing, 50 years old, was sentenced to prison for three years.
Ms. Liu Ruiqiong, 60, was sentenced to two years of forced labor re-education and three years of labor reformation.
Mr. Zheng Jianshuang, 60 years old, was sentenced to four years.
Mr. Xu Caiyuan, 60, was given a one-year prison sentence.

15 practitioners were illegally sent to forced labor camps

Ms. Yu Qixiu, 50 years old, was sentenced to one and a half years in a forced labor camp.
Ms. Zhou Huimin, female, 30 years old, was detained many times and severely tortured. She was sentenced to two years in a labor camp.
Ms. Chen Shubin, 61 years old, was sentenced to one year. She was also detained six times, once for almost eights months, and dismissed from her job. So far her employer still has not allowed her to resume her job.
Ms. Gao Qiongying, 37, was given a two-year sentence.
Ms. Zhu Huiqun, 36 years old, was sentenced to two years.
Ms. Zeng Yi, 35 years old, was sentenced to two years.
Mr. Wang Chao, 30 years old, was given a two-year sentence.
Ms. Wu Bangrong, 40 years old, was sentenced to three years in a forced labor camp.
Mr. Yan Zhenxiang, 40 years old, was sentenced to two years.
Tao Juhua, 30 years old, was given a three-year labor camp sentence. Her five-year-old son was once detained for one day and one night.
Mr. Ji Liangjun, 30 years old, was sentenced to two years.
Ms. ng Xiubi, 40 years old, was sentenced to one and a half years.
Ms. Luo Qunying, 60 years old, was detained many times. She was given a one-year labor camp sentence.
Ms. Wang Huiying, 58 years old, was sentenced to three years. She was also detained many times.
Ms. Liu Ruiqiong, over 60 years old, was sentenced to two years in a forced labor camp.

One was forced to stay away from home

Ms. Xu Xiuying, 40 years old, is a practitioner in Yucheng Town. Both her home and her parents' home were ransacked several times. She had no choice but to leave home to avoid arrest and persecution.

One person suffered mental disorders from being persecuted

Mr. Yan Yong, 28 years old, was an elementary school teacher in Wuli Village, Jiajia Town of Jianyang City. After July 20, 1999, he went to Beijing to appeal and was later deprived of his job. From January 22 to January 26, 2001, he was illegally detained by the local 610 Office and fined 3,000 yuan. Police later arrested him and took him to a mental hospital, where he was injected with unknown drugs. As a result, Yan Yong developed a mental disorder. He continues to stay away from home to avoid arrest, and his whereabouts are unknown.

In response to the vicious, large-scale persecution, Jianyang practitioners have been determined in following Teacher and Dafa. The also continue to clarify the truth and save sentient beings. They went to Beijing to safeguard the Fa, distributed flyers, clarified the truth and eliminated slogans that slandered Dafa. They also posted truth-clarifying flyers all over Jianyang City, both in the metropolitan area and the countryside.

As a result of their continuing efforts to clarify the truth and spread the Fa, more and more people in Jianyang City have started to learn Falun Dafa. This is something that the perpetrators did not expect.
