Sichuan Province: Chengdu City Retiree Mr. Tang Wenwu Mentally Traumatized by Persecution

(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Tang Wenwu is a retiree from the Sichuan Province Aerospace Administration. Because he is a determined Falun Gong practitioner, he was brutally persecuted. Since 2001, under orders from the Renmin Road Police Station, the Yanshikou Street Residential Office, and the Sichuan Aerospace Administration, he has been under house arrest and his salary suspended. Eight people were assigned to guard his house day and night. As a result of this long-term persecution, he suffered a mental collapse and is now receiving treatment in a hospital.

Mr. Tang lives at No.1 Xinguanghua Street in Chengdu City. Before retiring, he suffered from several diseases. Especially painful was his stubborn skin allergy. He was allergic to a variety of foods. Whenever he ate the wrong food, he would suffer from diarrhea, a high fever and a rash that covered his entire body, causing unbearable itching. Suffering for several decades, he had found no cure for this condition. After he started to practice Falun Gong in 1997, his physical symptoms gradually vanished.

In July 1999, Jiang Zemin's evildoing regime began to persecute Falun Gong. Even under pressure, Mr. Tang Wenwu refused to give up his belief in Falun Gong. Beginning in 2001, his former employer put him under house arrest, where he had been until recently. They suspended his salary and only gave him 210 yuan a month. The amount could not even cover his utility bills. His medical and other benefits have also been discontinued. His former employer assigned eight people to guard and monitor him day and night. Whenever he wanted to leave his home, he had to get permissions from both his former employer and from the Yanshikou Street Residential 610 Office. If one party disagreed, he could not go. Once he got permission to leave home, his "guards" always followed him, even when he visited his children.

In September 2003, following a plot by Li Daolin, his former employer's supervisor, his colleagues tricked him into a company office. As soon as he sat down, eight people rushed in and carried him downstairs from the third floor. They put Mr. Tang into a police car. A physical struggle ensued, and he suffered a two-inch long bloody cut on his back. They sent him to a brainwashing class organized by officials in the Jinjiang District of Chengdu City. To protest the illegal detention, Mr. Tang went on a hunger strike. One week later he was released.

In June 2004, Mr. Tang wanted to see his newborn grandson in a hospital. His guards refused and pushed him to the ground. His youngest son returned from the hospital after seeing his wife and found his father lying on the ground. When he asked the guards why his father was on the ground, the guards immediately called the police. Several policemen came to charge the younger Tang with "obstruction of official affairs." They beat him to the ground and even stepped on him. They tried to send him to the local police station but eventually gave up.

During the past five years of brutal persecution and intimidation, Mr. Tang was constantly being harassed to write a guarantee statement to give up Falun Gong. The pressure was intense. Eventually, at the end of March 2005, Mr. Tang suffered a nervous breakdown. After that, the Yangshikou Street Residential 610 Office personnel wanted to send him to Ankang Hospital, a police-run mental asylum. His children were opposed to the idea. In mid-April, his family sent him to Huaxi Hospital's Psychiatric Clinic at Sichuan University. Even then the persecution did not stop. The authorities looked all over the place for him. After they located him, they sent people to the hospital and demanded the doctors treat Mr. Tang their way. Fortunately, the doctors absolutely rejected their highly illegal request.
