New Zealand: Celebrating World Falun Dafa Day (Photos)
By a practitioner from New Zealand
(Clearwisdom.net) May 13 is World Falun Dafa Day. On May 14, 2005,
more than 100 Falun Gong practitioners from Auckland, Hamilton, and Christchurch
held a joyful celebration at Mission Bay in Auckland. Taking the green lawn as the stage and a huge painting showing heavenly
flying girls as the background, Falun Gong practitioners gave a number of
performances which started and ended with a waist drum show. Singing and dancing
were the major performances, among which, dances "Thinking of old
hometown" and "When Seawater turns sweet" presented by Xinyu
Dance Troupe from Auckland brought people into a wonderful realm and won warm
applause. They were requested to perform more dances. Other performances
included lute, guitar, violin solo, and singing solos. Western and Chinese
practitioners from different countries performed a chorus, "Coming for
you".
Tourists came and went, but they all stopped their steps to watch practitioners' light and graceful dances. The ceremony master introduced Falun Gong from time to time. Quite a few people sat down on the grass to enjoy the beautiful scenery, music and dances. Children were happy to receive a practitioner's calligraphy of their names in Chinese. Adults got a chance to learn about the history of Falun Dafa and the current status of China's human rights.
In the relaxed atmosphere, people did not seem to feel about the brutal persecution occurring in China. However, practitioners in New Zealand wish to be able to go back to China one day and celebrate this holiday that belongs to all with fellow practitioners in China.
