Prolonged Disappearances of Two Practitioners: Tuo Wanxue from Sichuan Province and Li Lifang from Heilongjiang Province

(Clearwisdom.net)

Mr. Tuo Wanxue, a Falun Gong practitioner from Guang'an City, Sichuan Province, has not been heard from since 2001. Mr. Tuo was arrested after being reported to police while clarifying the truth about Falun Gong. Aside from an arrest notice that his family received in September 2001, there has been no further news about him.

Mr. Tuo Wanxue, a practitioner in his thirties, worked for the Sichuan Huaxi Group provincial construction company prior to 1998, and later operated a dry-cleaning store near Jule Road in Chengdu City.

Since July 20, 1999, when the Jiang regime began its persecution of Falun Gong, Tuo Wanxue had been imprisoned many times when appealing or distributing truth materials. He also escaped from detention many times by using righteous thoughts. At one point, the Chengdu Police Department had ordered 120 officers to capture him, pursuing him day and night to stop him from clarifying the truth. On October 21, 2000, Tuo Wanxue was studying the Fa with two other practitioners at Yinchanggou, Pengzhou City, in the greater Chengdu area, when the police abducted them, acting on a tip from some people who did not know the truth about Falun Dafa.

While Tuo Wanxue was imprisoned at Chengdu City Detention Center, his kind heart got the attention of a few leaders of organized crime groups who were detained there with him. These crime leaders began learning Falun Dafa from him. After that, these group leaders would not permit anyone to disturb Tuo Wanxue, which gave Tuo Wanxue more time to clarify the truth, study the Fa and do the exercises.

In Chinese detention centers and prisons, detainees from organized crime groups have a certain degree of wealth, and most of them have hired people within the police department to protect them. This situation results in the prisoners having a higher status than the police, and gives their words more weight than those of the police. Since these influential people had learned the truth, Tuo Wanxue could practice Falun Gong openly in the Chengdu City Detention Center.

According to those who had been imprisoned in the same place with Tuo Wanxue, he was illegally charged in September 2001. But after that, there was no further news about him despite numerous and varied inquiries to different sources.

Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Li Lifang, of Mudanjiang City, in Heilongjiang Province, disappeared in 2003.

Li Lifang, in her forties, had worked as a member of the dining room staff at Mudanjiang City Textile Mill. She had been jailed briefly just prior to her disappearance in the summer of 2003, but was out a few days later after paying some money. Later, she disappeared again, this time without a trace.
