Whereas, Falun Dafa is based on the universal characteristic, "Truthfulness- Compassion-Forbearance," that offers people from all social backgrounds, races, and religions, an assessable system of cultivation practice that results in remarkable improvements of body, mind, and spirit; and

Whereas, over 100 million people in over 60 countries have benefited tremendously through learning Falun Dafa, manifesting the finest qualities of human nature, and improving morality and integrity, thus bringing positive influence to all society; and

Whereas, Falun Dafa practitioner's tireless efforts to promote rule of law and uphold fundamental freedoms encourages humanity to strengthen our common resolve to uphold human rights; and

Whereas, Falun Dafa practitioners from across Canada will hold public festivities, celebrations and parades celebrating "Falun Dafa Month" and May 13^th, the 13^th anniversary of Falun Dafa's public introduction.

Now Therefore, I Gary Korpan, Mayor of the City of Nanaimo, do hereby proclaim the month of May, 2005, by known as:

"Falun Dafa Month"
