Mother of Hong Kong Resident Arrested Again by Shanghai Police

(Clearwisdom.net) My name is Wu Junting and I am a resident of Hong Kong. Recently I found out that my mother had been illegally arrested again by the Shanghai Pudong police on April 7, 2005. She is currently being held at the Shanghai Pudong Detention Center.

My mother's name is Zhu Wenxian, and I am her only child. Ever since I got married in Hong Kong, my mother has been living alone in Shanghai. My mother used to be quite sick. Practicing Falun Gong has benefited her both physically and spiritually. On July 20, 1999, Jiang's regime launched the suppression of Falun Gong, but my mother was not willing to give it up. In the face of Mainland China's media propaganda, my mother told people the facts about Falun Dafa through her personal experience. Over the last few years, she has been arrested many times, imprisoned, and even tortured. The persecution could not make my mother give in. My mother believed that as long as everyone knew the truth about Falun Dafa, the Chinese Communist Party's persecution of Falun Gong could no longer continue.

On November 9, 2004, my mother was arrested by the local police while she was clarifying the truth about the persecution of Falun Dafa at Lianhua Supermarket, Pudong New District, Shanghai. Fortunately, because people from all walks of life gave attention to this case, my mother was released after being imprisoned for fifteen days.

The Shanghai police arrested my mother and threatened my relatives in Shanghai. They did not dare to tell me where my mother was imprisoned. I called the Shanghai Pudong police station, asked them for the reason for detaining my mother, and demanded that they immediately release her. They said that my mother was "against the communist party, against the government, and illegally assembled with other people. She was detained as a criminal." They also said that if my mother did not intend to acknowledge that she had done something wrong, they would send her for "reeducation", and only after being "reformed" could she be released. If none of these means could make my mother give up practicing Falun Gong, then my mother could be sentenced to prison for seven years. As far as I know, several other Falun Gong practitioners were also arrested along with my mother.

The law in Mainland China is under the control of the Communist Party. If the Party wants to suppress Falun Gong, then the law in Mainland China will carve out a path for it. Freedom of belief is respected and protected in democratic societies, but in Mainland China, the Communist Party will not allow my mother to have her own thoughts. They want to put my mother in jail.

After reading the "Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party", I know more clearly why the Chinese Communist Party wants to suppress Falun Gong. They don't just want to control the Chinese people's bodies, they also want to control people's minds. My mother's detention is a classic example.
