Epoch Times: Cambridge University Holds "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance" Art Exhibition

ENGLAND - May 20th marked the opening ceremony for the "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance" art exhibition at Cambridge University. The University Student Union president and representatives from the local Falun Gong Association spoke at the ceremony. Afterwards visitors received a guided tour of the exhibit.

Cambridge University's Student Union is the oldest in the world, with over 4000 members. In his opening address, Student Union president Kat Fletcher said that the Student Union has always supported the rights to free speech and to freedom of artistic expression. The members of the Student Union were honored to hold England's first "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance" art exhibition, for which the University provided free space.

Dr. Kenny Martin, a senior member of the Student Union, said that he was very supportive of the exhibition and was moved by the enduring determination of Falun Gong practitioners. He quoted a Chinese saying about dripping water wearing through stone. He believed that as long as everyone was determined and strived forward, history would prove that evil is just evil, but righteousness always prevails in the end.

Local Falun Gong practitioners provided an introduction to Falun Gong and background on the persecution carried out by the communist regime in China. The most recent UN torture and imprisonment reports show that China is the greatest violator of human rights in the world. Besides the persecution of Falun Gong, the regime also persecutes Christians, Muslims, and Tibetans. According to the UN reports, 67% of persecution victims are Falun Gong practitioners. All of the artists of the exhibition practice Falun Gong, including four who have personally experienced torture and persecution in China.

An elderly man who was visiting from China said, "This exhibition is wonderful; it gives a true exposition about the persecution in China. Falun Gong practitioners are really great."

A middle-aged woman stood for a long time in front of an oil painting showing the suffering of child practitioners. With tears in her eyes, she told the reporter, "It's really touching. Seeing these children cry, I can't help but let my tears fall. It's too tragic."

A western man said, "Although I have never practiced meditation, I can feel the strong energy here. Every picture makes the viewer want to see more."

The exhibition will tour other cities in England.
