My Perception of Falun Gong By Xiaoxia, a student in Heilongjiang Province
(Clearwisdom.net) I am a student and have been fortunate to have met
several Falun Gong practitioners in recent years. For nearly six years, I have
also witnessed the oppression and brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners
at the hands of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Though my understandings are
limited, I wish to use the simplest language and rationale to share my views on
this matter. Please correct me if anything is inappropriate. I first heard of Falun Gong before the persecution began. At that time, many
people were doing the exercises together at practice sites in parks and other
public locations. I could feel deep serenity emanating from the practice sites.
I learned that many of the people had had extremely poor health in the past, yet
all their ailments miraculously disappeared after practicing Falun Gong. Later
on, through interacting with more practitioners, I found that they are all
genuine, kind, tolerant and very considerate of others. They demonstrated the
true meaning of selflessness and compassion. I also read Zhuan Falun.
However, I did not fully comprehend its meaning and treated it as just another
book. In July 1999, the Chinese government began the persecution of Falun Gong
practitioners. I was skeptical right from the beginning. Why were they against
such a wonderful practice? I did not read many truth clarification
materials back then and so there were many things I didn't understand. In the
meantime, from my coursework I continued to find many conflicting policies
implemented by the CCP. For instance, Article 36 of the Chinese Constitution
clearly states, "Citizens of the People's Republic of China enjoy freedom
of religious belief. No state organ, public organization or individual may
compel citizens to believe in, or not believe in, any religion; nor may they
discriminate against citizens who believe in, or do not believe in, any
religion. The state protects normal religious activities." Isn't practicing
Falun Gong considered a personal belief? This should be a Chinese citizen's
basic right and freedom, and, according to the Chinese Constitution, the country
should protect and uphold this right. This contradiction became even more
apparent when the news reported that Falun Gong was an organization involved in
politics and was therefore labeled a [slanderous word omitted].
The Falun Gong practitioners I have come into contact with are all very good
people. They are kind, rational, and not concerned with worldly benefits.
Moreover, they practice Falun Gong on their own initiative, and there is no
organization to speak of. Why would they be interested in politics when they are
indifferent to fame and profit? These accusations make no sense and have no
basis whatsoever. I used to think that Falun Gong was a sect, because that's what the CCP said
it was. Even if Falun Gong has nothing to do with our nation's politics,
constitution, or education and is purely a self-cultivation system for teaching
people to be good, the prevailing belief is that when the communists say they're
not good, then the Party must be right. This is a big lie. Who is actually
perpetrating evil? In April 2002, I witnessed with my own eyes the police arresting a female
practitioner. The police broke through the door, captured her, and searched both
her and the house. If I had not witnessed it, I would find it hard to believe
that our police would do such a thing. Afterwards, I saw pictures of
practitioners who'd been persecuted in labor camps. I was shocked. The CCP is
indeed shocking, brutal, and against humanity. China's justice is long gone. If
the constitution can't even protect a citizen's natural rights, then how can it
protect human rights on a large scale? I find it puzzling that Falun Gong practitioners could persist in their
beliefs under such evil circumstances. What is the power and faith that keeps
them so steadfast and strong? Later on, I read many truth clarification
materials and read through Zhuan Falun again, and I discovered that my
previous thoughts were completely different from what my understanding is now.
Especially after reading the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party, I
understood that the CCP is in opposition to nature and humanity. They are truly
evil; they've committed the crimes of brutality and murder. I immediately
renounced my membership in its Youth League and was glad that I did not become a
CCP member when I was in school. I know that Falun Dafa is good and that practitioners are magnificent people.
They withstand brutal torture and hardships, not for themselves but to save the
world's people. They are genuinely our saviors and the last hope given to human
beings. There are still many who don't understand them, who are ignorant of the
facts and who still assist the CCP in persecuting them. However, Falun Gong
practitioners, with their big hearts, look beyond all this and persist in
clarifying the facts to save those who are deluded. I know that the Teacher of Falun Gong and Falun Gong practitioners are very
compassionate. Words cannot even describe my deep gratitude. I wish everyone
would soon awaken from this illusion and see the truth. In order to be
responsible to oneself, their relatives and the entire human race, people should
support Falun Gong and break away from the control of the evil CCP. I am grateful to the Teacher of Falun Gong and to Falun Gong practitioners
for their hard work. May 14, 2005 Posting date: 6/12/2005 |
