The Persecution of Several Falun Gong Practitioners from Shuangcheng City, Heilongjiang Province

Mr. Wang Wenlong, twenty-eight years old, is from Changshen Village, Shuangcheng City, Heilongjiang Province. In June 1999, he went to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong and was jailed in the Mentougou prison, Beijing City for eighteen days. When the Village Committee took him home, his body was covered in blood. Later on, he was jailed at a second detention center in Shuangcheng City.

In 2001, Mr. Wang was arrested in Changchan Village, Shuangcheng City. He escaped, but became homeless to avoid recapture and was again arrested later in Tsitsihar City. He was sentenced to nine years. Currently, he is in jail. At the end of August 2004, he sent a letter saying that he was seriously ill, so his family came to visit him. The meeting strictly monitored, and all the conversations were recorded. His family said, "His hands and feet were ice cold."

Mr. Wang Shiwei, forty-eight years old, was a farmer from Shenli Village, Zhaoyang County, Heilongjiang Province. He was detained three times and is currently jailed in the Changlinzi Forced Labor Camp. Seven thousand yuan was extorted from his family.

On the Chinese New Year 2001, Mr. Wang was detained at the government building of Qianjing County, Shuangcheng City. In April 2001, he was persecuted for fifteen days at a nursing home in Zhaoyang County.

On February 13, 2004, Mr. Wang was detained at a detention center in Shuangcheng City for another fifteen days, and was then sentenced to two years in the Changlinzi Forced Labor Camp in Harbin City. Currently, Mr. Wang is being seriously tortured in this labor camp, which has resulted in severe injuries. He is almost blind, and his lower leg and nose have been fractured. His family is currently in a financial crisis.

Falun Gong practitioner Ms Huang Yanzhen is currently in jail. She is sixty-two years old and lives in the Wenxin area, Shuangcheng City, Heilongjiang Province. Before practicing Falun Gong, she had several diseases. After practicing Falun Gong, all her diseases were cured without taking any medicine. After the persecution started on July 20, 1999, she went to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong several times and also clarified the truth about Falun Gong locally. The police arrested her several times, and she escaped several times from the detention center, forced labor camp, and brainwashing center.

On October 8, 2004, while Ms. Huang and Guo Fenglan were clarifying the truth about Falun Gong on a bus, policemen from Wujia County arrested them. They were detained at the police station in Shuangcheng City. On October 18, the local court issued an authorization for their arrest, and they were detained at a second detention center in Shuangcheng City on October 20.

On October 26, without going through any legal process, both of them were sentenced to seven years in prison. In the document that the police prepared, Ms. Huang's and Guo Fenglan's daughters-in-law were the witnesses. Actually, they did not know that they were witnesses at all. In order to persecute these Falun Gong practitioners, the policemen compiled fake documents.

Two months after Ms. Huang and Guo Fenglan were detained in the second detention center of Shuangcheng City, they were sent to the Women's Prison of Heilongjiang Province. Ms. Huang was locked in solitary confinement and forced fed. Workers from the prison only informed her family when she was on the verge of death.
