(Clearwisdom.net) Hao Fengjun, a former officer of China's 610 Office revealed that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has infiltrated Canada with about 1,000 spies. The Canadian government voiced its concern to deal with the CCP network of spies in Canada and will take serious measures if necessary. Various members of parliament demanded that the government stop the CCP spies from harassing Falun Gong in Canada.

According to the report from the Globe and Mail on June 17, Canada is taking Hao's allegations seriously, and will take tough counterintelligence measures to deal with the CCP espionage network so as to protect Canada's sovereignty.

Prime Minister Martin said, "Canada maintains a vigorous counterintelligence program to safeguard Canada's security. We maintain a very strong law enforcement and security system that will enable Canadians to be assured of their own protection and their own security."

Foreign Affairs Minister Pierre Pettigrew expressed when answering questions that the Foreign Affairs Department has been in touch with Chinese officials in Canada to hold discussions with them to ensure that Canadian citizens' right to express themselves is respected. Mr. Pettigrew said, "We always take all of these allegations very seriously. We expect them to respect our sovereignty. When they are here, they are meant to respect our Canadian laws."

Barbara Campion, a spokesperson for the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS), said in her speech that they will investigate espionage activities that threaten Canada's security.

Former National Public Security officer in Tianjin Hao Fengjun who is seeking political asylum in Australia alleged that there is "a network of 1,000 spies in Canada." The Canadian authorities take this seriously.

According to the Globe and Mail report, Hao Fengjun expressed that as early as in 1999, when the CCP started the persecution of Falun Gong, the CCP sent spies to Canada, Australia, the United States, New Zealand and other countries to spy on Falun Gong practitioners. Hao Fengjun said that on the basis of the police files he saw, he estimated that China had more people spying on Falun Gong in Canada than in the United States, Australia or New Zealand. He also said "From the information I saw, through the documents, most of the spies are in Toronto and Vancouver."

Mr. Hao said that the spies are charged with tapping telephone lines, harassing and intimidating local people to stop what they are doing. Many times, they monitor and report back to security agencies in China. If a Falun Gong practitioner plans to return China, then when they reached China, they might be arrested at the airport.

The Globe and Mail reported on June 15 that counterespionage officers at CSIS and the RCMP produced a report, codenamed Sidewinder, about extensive Chinese spy operations in Canada in the 1990s. The officers said later that they were frustrated by Canadian politicians' reluctance to crack down on Chinese espionage because of diplomatic and trade considerations.

According to CBC report on Wednesday that former CSIS agent Michel Juneau-Katsuya, finds what consul Chen Yonglin and Mr. Hao Fengjun claim is credible. Juneau-Katsuya said that during the mid-1990s, if Canadian intelligence agencies weren't preoccupied with Islamist terrorists these days they would realize the greatest threat to Canadian security comes from China. Juneau-Katsuya finally expressed explicitly that there's plenty of evidence to prove that Chinese intelligence agents use illegal methods to spy on and disrupt the Falun Gong.

Hao Fengjun, a former police officer with Chinese Public Security Bureau in Tianjin and officer of Tianjin "610 Office," was unwilling to cooperate with the CCP to use brutal methods to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. Through twists and turns he finally arrived in Australia early this year. He is seeking political asylum and providing first-hand materials to expose the inside stories of the CCP's brutal persecution of Falun Gong. Hao Fengjun told the reporters that he decided to come out courageously to expose the brutal and insidious methods the CCP used to persecute Falun Gong practitioners.

On June 15, Canada's national newspaper, the Globe and Mail, reported in detail about Hao's claims.

The report said 32-year-old Hao Fengjun, a former police officer with the Chinese Public Security Bureau, and who is seeking political asylum in Australia, said that Beijing's operatives in Canada conduct a campaign of harassment and intimidation and tap the telephone lines of Falun Gong members in Toronto, Vancouver and several other major Canadian cities.

Hao Fengjun expressed that he worked in a special section of the Public Security Bureau, known as the "610 office," which is in charge of operations against Falun Gong. Mr. Hao said he was with the Public Security Bureau for about 10 years. In February, he traveled to Australia as a tourist and made a refugee application.

Mr. Hao said in a telephone interview from Melbourne, "All the information from Canada was sent from the secret force that is in Canada and sent to the 610 office, which is in Tianjin City, China," He also said, "From the information I saw, through the documents, most of the spies are in Toronto and Vancouver."

The report cited Mr. Hao by saying that many of the spies in Canada are Canadian citizens of Chinese heritage. They include experts, students and business people.

Conservative MP Jason Kenney from Calgary said, "Early this year, Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) revealed that the CCP is operating a large network of spies in Canada, monitoring the Canadian's security, economic and political interests."

Conservative deputy leader Peter Mackay pointed out that according to the information provided by former police officer of the CCP Hao Fengjun, the CCP has more than 1,000 spies in Canada. He said that it shows that the CCP is waging campaigns in Canada to intimidate and harass Falun Gong practitioners. Their actions are consistent with the report from the CSIS. The foreign spy network is controlling, intimidating and using Chinese people in Canada. Mackay pointed out that Hao Fengjun has submitted a report to the Australian government regarding Falun Gong practitioners in Canada being spied and harassed. Mackay suggested the Canadian government to request for the copy of the report and officially request the CCP authorities to stop harassing Canadian citizens.
