Teacher said in "Teaching the Fa at the 2004 Western U.S. Fa Conference,"

Fa rectification has progressed rapidly, and time now passes very quickly. The "future" is almost here for people, and it will appear in front of their eyes. Many people who learned the truth about Falun Gong have consciously and voluntarily opposed the persecution (some have even done things directly to oppose the persecution of Falun Gong). Dafa disciple's ways to clarify the truth and validate the Fa are increasingly enriched. Sometimes, Dafa disciples, as individuals, would like to conduct a great event for saving sentient beings by using the forms of ordinary organizations. However, everything done by Dafa disciples by using the forms of ordinary organizations is different from things done mainly by non-practitioners. The significance in Fa-Rectification is different. Both are important, yet they cannot replace each other.

At this historic moment, no matter what we are doing, to genuinely hold on to the Fa's perspective with righteous thoughts and to remember that we are validating Dafa instead of ourselves is vital to the substance and effect of everything we do.

The origins of people nowadays are not simple or ordinary. Dafa disciples have the three things to do and must do them well. We also have personal affairs to take care of in the different stages of our individual cultivations. We want to help more people learn the truth about Falun Gong, so they can fulfill their wishes by stepping forward to oppose the persecution. We want to help them to organize and step forward all together to oppose the persecution. To help them we Dafa disciples should clarify the truth more thoroughly and meticulously, have broader minds and be more strict with every word and deed of ours among everyday people so that we truly validate Dafa. This is different from the things a Dafa disciple needs to do directly, yet this is what we have to do. It seems more complex than what we do directly, yet it is worth doing well.

What we need to do during Fa-Rectification is difficult. However, as long as we can genuinely hold on to the Fa's perspective with righteous thoughts all the time, continuously understand the real meaning of all the Fa lectures taught by Master and improve our Xinxing by constantly cultivating ourselves, all the difficulties and obstacles can be overcome.

The entire population stepping forward to oppose the persecution does not need to be led by us. Instead, under cosmic changes and under the effect of Dafa disciples clarifying the truth of Falun Gong, sentient beings will come to that point naturally. Everything we Dafa disciples encounter during truth clarification will objectively help everyone step forward to oppose the persecution. However when people step forward to oppose the persecution, if we don't have confidence in them, we might lose a lucky chance for them to form a climate of change. If we confuse the righteous thoughts of humans with those of Dafa disciples, we could easily confuse the role of non-practitioners with that of Dafa disciples. We could regard people's coordination as a few experts leading Dafa disciples to do something.

The most important part of our cultivation in the Fa-rectification period is that Falun Dafa practitioners lead to clarify the truth and validate the Fa. Many forms and methods are very powerful and should be used. However, we should remember their secondary nature. When we start to do any Dafa work, if we cannot achieve a thorough understanding from the perspective of the Fa and with a clear and calm mind, we will have internal friction and strife. Different ideas and understandings will cause delays. When this happens it shows each person should cultivate more maturely. Only by cultivating ourselves diligently can we truly improve. Methods and means can't replace the essential process of cultivation and improvement. The essential meanings of fulfilling the goal of "everyday people cooperating with each other to oppose the persecution", practitioners opposing the persecution of Falun Gong in the name of non practitioners, and Dafa disciples inviting celebrities to participate in activities to oppose the persecution are different.

How to most appropriately understand the purpose of a specific event, how much effort Dafa disciples should devote to something, both are critical to doing well. That is what we should think over with clear minds. Take an earthly war for example: there are many battlefields in a large conflict. If people in each battlefield expect all the troops should be put into their own battlefield, the whole battle would be in chaos. The exhausted troops involved in internal strife and the waste of troops would affect the quality of the whole battle.

I'm thinking of how to evaluate whether what Dafa disciples do goes to extremes or goes awry from the perspective of Fa-rectification, and how to understand well what Master said in his article "Take the Middle Way" and how to follow that and not go to extremes.

This is only my personal understanding, and I just wanted to share it with everyone.
