(Clearwisdom.net) After World War II, the world divided into two camps: Democratic nations respected human rights and advocated freedom, while Communist countries sought to destroy human nature by strengthening dictatorships and tyranny. This situation marks a struggle for people's hearts and minds that has been ongoing for more than fifty years. Democratic nations have played a positive role, since people around the world welcome freedom and human rights.

Since the fall of the Communist states in Europe, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has resorted to lies, economic extortion and false promises to open the Chinese market to the West. It has gained control and/or influence over Chinese media abroad in order to support its rhetoric, and established and gained control over organizations outside of China to support it. As a result, Western media and politicians were able to ignore the CCP's inhumane tactics, and indirectly, due to the pursuit of personal and economic benefits, they even helped the CCP to persecute people.

In recent years, Western countries appear to be even more willing to please the CCP. Some tried to lift the weapons ban on China, which would only give the CCP the ability to kill more Chinese people and become an even greater threat to the free world. Other countries cooperated with the CCP to repress the voice of justice for the Chinese people abroad. Some helped China to block information that discloses the truth of the CCP. Some countries and companies have tried to shut down New Tang Dynasty's (an independently owned television station reporting objectively on the CCP) broadcasts to Asia via the W5 satellite. Some governments refused to protect, or even tried to deport, those brave Chinese people who managed to escape China for freedom. Some Taiwan politicians and organizations have tried to sacrifice their nation's interests to please the CCP.

These examples show that many Western countries, political parties, and politicians are ready and willing to trade the very things they advocate, such as freedom, democracy, human rights, and even constitutional rights for temporary economic interests or personal gains. We can tell that what they advocate has no merit from the perspective of those parties and politicians. Therefore, those parties or politicians are unreliable for holding up these values. Teacher told us about this in one of his lectures.

With this in mind, we should think about why there have been so many incidents lately where the free world has chosen to sell-out freedom, democracy and human rights to cooperate with the CCP. Of course, there are factors arranged by the old forces, but we must also consider that our thoughts caused this situation. For example, are we too dependent on everyday society for their support of Dafa and standing up to the CCP?

We should make even better use of the free world to maximally clarify the truth. However, we cannot develop the attachment of relying on everyday society. The fact that some free countries choose to please the CCP tells us that we need to do a better job, such as distributing the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party (a series of articles published by The Epoch Times newsgroup exposing an uncensored history of the CCP) more widely. Our fellow practitioners in China risk arrest and even death when spreading the truth. Those of us outside China should take advantage of our free environment to do a better job.

When political parties and politicians make bad decisions and support the CCP, it means the CCP has potentially brought down more lives with it in its impending demise. We should not ignore this. Again, we should use the free environment while not relying on ordinary people to clarify the truth, distribute the Nine Commentaries, and save more sentient beings. With righteous thoughts and righteous actions, more people will read the Nine Commentaries and learn the truth, more people will step forward to say no to the persecution, and more people will leave the CCP for good.
