A Police Officer's Story - Clarifying the Truth

I am a Falun Dafa practitioner and also a police officer. My colleagues do not understand why I still practice Dafa under the current environment. But they all consider me a good fellow. As part of my job, I deal directly with people frequently. I always consider that my association with these people is our mutual karmic relationship. If that is the case, why don't I clarify the truth to them as well? Perhaps the nature of my work duties does not encourage this. But as a Dafa practitioner during the Fa rectification period, I feel I should be fulfilling my mission under all circumstances. If the environment is restrictive, we should create a new environment if needed.

One day, a young fellow named Xiaoyu came to my office to lodge a complaint.

"I was being assaulted. Are you taking up the case?" he asked.

"Please sit down and tell me slowly." I answered.

Still in rage, the young man started to relate the whole story, and said that if Wang assaulted him again, he would kill him.

I calmed him down, "Young man, don't do anything silly. I will sort things out for you."

While recording his story, I said to him, "I can understand why you are angry when injustice is done to you. But you still have us to resolve the matter for you." Then I continued, "You must have heard about the government trying to track down all Falun Gong practitioners for practicing a peaceful system called 'Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance.' When caught, the practitioners are subjected to harsh punishment. These poor people have no one to turn to, and nowhere to appeal. Earlier, when some of them went to Beijing to appeal, the government accused them of creating trouble. To incite hatred and fan up people's emotions against Falun Gong, the government staged a self-immolation act at Tiananmen Square and blamed it on the practitioners." The young man was very wrapped up by the story.

"How do you compare your case with their situation?" I asked. "Over a thousand people have been killed under persecution, and the practitioners are still persisting peacefully with their appeal. Have you ever heard of them fighting back with the police? Not a single one! It is because they believe in the practice of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance." As with Wang, if you killed this guy who had offended you, his wife would lose a husband, his son would lose a father, and you would be charged for committing a criminal offence. What good would you have done?" Xiaoyu remained quiet.

"Don't you think it is better if we can maintain a good working relationship among people, by using Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance as our guide?" He nodded with consent. "Leave it with me, I will work on your case and sort it out for you." On leaving my office, Xiaoyu said to me, "I will keep in mind those three words, Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance."

After that, I thoroughly investigated the whole matter. The case involved a number of people. But I tried to clarify the truth with each person I met. Before long all the people who had been involved with the case knew about the persecution of Falun Dafa. Many of them wanted to learn, while some others wanted to tell their friends about it.

When I had completed the investigation, I invited both parties to my office and said to them, "During the investigation process, I have been handling the case using the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance as my guide. I do hope both parties will consider the entire event from each other's perspective. I know Xiaoyu was afraid that Wang would give him more problems, and Wang's wife was worried that Xiaoyu might attack Wang. Here is an opportunity for both of you to resolve the conflict."

There was a big change of attitudes from both parties. Wang's wife and Xiaoyu were then engaged in a very friendly conversation while I was watching. Shortly afterwards, Xiaoyu said, "The conflict is over. I won't claim the 100 yuan medical fees spent on the injury inflicted by Wang." Pulling out from her pocket 100 yuan, Wang's wife insisted that Xiaoyu should accept it. So, I said to him, "There is no reason for you not to accept it. If everyone can treat each other with sincerity, things will work out fine." They all laughed.

From this incident, I saw that I can promote Dafa and clarify the truth even within my work capacity.

While the evil is running rampant, we still have a harsh environment. I am opening up a path for this level of beings towards godhood. If I was arrested for doing this, where would these beings go, and who would be responsible for them? Looking at the whole thing from another perspective, Dafa is all powerful. Now that I have been able to clarify the truth under such an environment, it is a part of Teacher's Fa-rectification work.

Under all circumstances, opportunities can be found to reconcile Dafa and save all sentient beings. Being a Dafa practitioner during the Fa-rectification period, it is also my duty to do so, as we are creating their future.
