True Freedom
In "Teaching the Fa at the 2005 Canada Fa Conference" Master told us, "Remember: you are the stars of today's world, you are the lives that sentient beings are watching the most intently, and you are beings who are determining the future of every person in the human world!" This is the current requirement that Fa-rectification has for Dafa disciples. The question is how we achieve this.
Even though we may feel we have relinquished many attachments to fame, fortune and emotions in ordinary society, many of us still think about these things when we are doing the exercises and studying the Fa. If our heart is so great that it can encompass our infinite sentient beings, then why do we have times when we cannot tolerate the viewpoints of fellow practitioners, and sometimes we even feel we need to defend ourselves?
If we have a sense of responsibility towards fellow practitioners, then we should be able to point out others' attachments when we see them. If we have relinquished our concept of self, then we should not think that we are better or worse than others (whether it be conscious or not).
Perhaps it is exactly because of these intertwining attachments that we are not able to reach true freedom. It is very difficult for people to not create attachments within the human world. Cultivators of the past would go to secluded areas to get rid of existing attachments and avoid forming new attachments, and from that they would attain a sort of freedom. Fa-rectification period Dafa disciples must be within the secular world to take part in Fa-rectification, and it is when we are in this environment and are able to dissolve these intertwining attachments, that we are able to attain true freedom. "Human society is a good place for cultivation, since everything here can lead to attachments. Precisely because of this, a person who is able to step out of it and get rid of all his attachments to human society is magnificent and is able to reach Consummation." ("No Politics" from Essentials for Further Advancement II) The body is within but the heart is without--this is true freedom. If this state can be achieved, it is a remarkable state in individual cultivation. For Fa-rectification Dafa disciples though, our mission does not stop there, and neither does our attainment status. In Hongyin, Master wrote: With shared purpose did you come to the earth, August 27, 1994 By eliminating all attachments, a regular cultivator can reach the stage of true freedom. But for Dafa disciples to do the three things well in Fa-rectification and fulfill our vows, only then will we be "free, unfettered, with the immeasurable power of Fa."
And in gaining the Fa you took the lead.
One day shall you ascend to the heavens,
Then free, unfettered,
with the immeasurable power of Fa.
