June 1 is International Children's Day, when children around the world are celebrating their own holiday. On this very day and under the same heaven, however, an unbelievable tragedy is happening to a large group of children in China, which boasts a glorious history of over 5000 years.

Xinyu, Hanhan, Qingqing, on and on, a number of beautiful names and innocent faces, have suffered numerous accounts of atrocities and heartbreaking experiences. With their sad but longing eyes, they have been looking forward to and crying out for our conscience and compassion to awaken and for us to reach out to that age-old land.

They are the orphans - seventeen orphans whose lives are at risk at this very moment. According to the Global Mission to Rescue Persecuted Falun Gong Practitioners, only because their parents practiced Falun Gong and upheld their belief in "Truth-Compassion-Forbearance," their parents were tortured and persecuted to death in China, leaving behind are these young and innocent lives. On this very day, they live alone without their parents and some are wandering about homeless. Some of them are just beginning to learn to walk, walking with unsteady baby steps with their arms wide open to their parents, who, sadly, have already perished as the result of persecution.

These orphaned lives are so young and fragile, and every day they are placed on the fine line between life and death. The most unfortunate were the five children who lost their young lives themselves in the horrendous persecution - the youngest was just eight months old. Another ninety-five children lost one of their parents to the persecution, with the remaining parent being illegally imprisoned and persecuted. Because of the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP's) tight control and blockade on the media and the dissemination of information in China, the information we have collected on these children is merely the tip of the iceberg.

As small streams form oceans, the bringing together of compassionate hearts will certainly shake heaven and earth. As we strongly believe, the more compassion and righteousness everyone in the world shows, the sooner the tragedy of these children can be stopped from extending further. With compassion and righteousness, the fate of these children can be reversed, the fewer days these children will have to struggle under the terror due to the loss of their parents, and the sooner the innocence and laughter will return to where they belong.

Today, once again, we, the teachers and students of over thirty Minghui Schools around the globe, urgently appeal to all good-hearted people around the world: please reach out your hand. With your conscience and compassion, show your loving care for these innocent children; with your righteousness and courage, act immediately to rescue the orphans of Falun Dafa practitioners who have died from the persecution in China.
