A Chronic Tracheitis Patient Encounters Good Fortune

The time in 1999 when I was diagnosed with chronic tracheitis was a really very difficult period for me. I felt so awful and went to see all sorts of doctors and specialists, who told me they had never seen a disease such as mine.

I saw a Chinese newspaper called The Epoch Times. At the time I didn't know much about Falun Gong and I was also affected by the Chinese Communist Party's propaganda on the Internet, so I viewed Falun Dafa as a bad thing. There were some articles in the paper that talked about the magnificent healing effect Falun Gong had on serious illnesses. After reading this, I wanted to try Falun Gong to heal my pain and illness. After I started practicing, I finally realized that it was wrong to learn Dafa for those purposes, but our great Master is benevolent to all beings.

Then in October 2004, I had one of the most fortunate and unforgettable days of my life. I got in touch with a local Falun Gong volunteer assistant, Mr. Wang, and told him over the phone that I wanted to study Falun Gong and that I wanted to heal my illness through the practice. That afternoon, Mr. Wang sent me the book Zhuan Falun. I read the entire book that week, and I felt better. When I read that genuine practitioners should give up all human desires and attachments to become better people, I decided I wanted to cultivate.

I attended the New York Fa Conference this past May and learned more. I now firmly believe that Falun Dafa is the righteous and fundamental law. Especially after I saw Master--he is so kind and so great. I smoked for several decades and could not stop smoking, though I had tried many times. After studying the Fa, I found that Master does not approve of his disciples smoking but does not say that smokers cannot come to learn Falun Dafa.

Most smokers know that the first few days after quitting smoking are the most difficult and uncomfortable. But my experience was not the same as before. After I came back from New York, after smoking just once, I had a strange feeling, and the taste changed. I think Master helped me just like I read about in Zhuan Falun. Master Li is really helping me because I'm so far behind in my practice. I have genuinely experienced Master's compassion. I have not smoked for a month and a half, and my illness has also healed.

I began to study Master's lectures everyday after I came back from New York. I realized how profound Falun Dafa is and that the characteristic of the universe is Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance. In the future, I will try my best to strictly improve my xinxing and be a good practitioner.
