(Clearwisdom.net) Minghui correspondent Cai Ju reports from New York: On the evening of July 9, 2005, at the Tribeca Performing Arts Center in downtown Manhattan, the audience was moved by the performances on the stage, and occasionally, weeping could be heard. During the intermission, many people's eyes were red from crying.

Artists who cultivate Falun Gong wished to reenact in an artistic manner the tribulation endured by children amidst the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. Some well-known artists learned about this magnanimous act, and warm-heartedly wanted to participate to offer their abilities for rescuing the innocent children.

The entire performance took the brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners and their children as the main theme, while the large-scale dancing manifesting the Great Tang Dynasty culture performed as interlude. That, along with well-known western artists' wonderful performances, made the evening's performance exciting and appealing, exhibiting intense artistic power.

The ballet entitled "My Childhood" was written, directed and performed by Falun Gong practitioners. It reenacted an episode in which malevolent police officers broke into a practitioner's home and arrested her. A little girl returned home from school, and cried and shouted, "Mom," but the police officers forcefully pushed her down on the ground. When the little girl woke up, she found that her home was sealed, and she was left alone helpless. During the night, the little girl dreamed of being reunited with her mother, and they lived a happy life while cultivating and improving together. The leading character is Cayla Gao, a 9-year-old third grader in New York. Cayla Gao has practiced dancing since early childhood. Her performance on the stage was pure and touching, and received high praise.

The audience was deeply touched, and tears streamed down their faces. The audience gave warm applause during the whole performance.

Renowned artist Mr. Guan Guimin offered two songs in the charity concert. They were, "At the Unforgettable Moment" and "Sit by My Side." The songs expressed the joy of cultivating Falun Gong and the hope of appealing for people to join together to stop the persecution.

Before the intermission, an eight-minute film entitled, "Rescue the Orphans" was shown, using real cases to reveal the cruel facts of the brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners and practitioners' children--children who have lost their parents' care, lost their right to go to school, and suffered both physically and mentally. It strongly called for all kind-hearted people to contribute generously for rescuing these children.

Famous pop song singer Tom Foti, who is active on the east coast of the US, had learned about the Chinese orphans at the anti-torture exhibit reenacted by Falun Gong practitioners at 42^nd Street. This popular musician was deeply touched, and especially created the song entitled, "Amnesty" dedicated to Falun Gong practitioners who are being illegally detained in China. He also performed this song at this charity concert.

Prior to the concert, "Global Organization to Rescue Persecuted Falun Gong Practitioners" held a reception, expressing their appreciation to friends and groups for their support. Ms. Rosling and Ms. Hanna, who are active in business circle, and Mr. David, the artistic Director of New York's Symphony Orchestra, attended the reception. The guests stated that an important window through which people can understand a society and a political power is to look at how that political power treats its people, in particular its attitude toward women, children and the younger generation, and the extent to which they pay attention to education. The ordeal that Falun Gong practitioners--especially the women--have suffered due to the Chinese Communist Party's persecution in the past six years, and the bitter experiences of hundreds of children who have been left behind as orphans and who have lost their right to go to school--their experiences clearly tell how innocent people are suffering the most brutal and barbaric persecution in the human history. The guests all agreed that people should not keep silent any more.

(Clearwisdom.net) A group of Falun Gong practitioners from Finland, Sweden, Germany and Russia organized a ten day long anti-torture exhibition tour around five cities across Finland.

On June 22-23, 2005, the group arrived at the final stop, the city of Lahti. The exhibition was held in the pedestrian area of the city center. With good co-ordination, practitioners quickly set up banners and poster boards along with a stand for displaying leaflets and a petition book. Two practitioners who were to act out the torture scenes also got ready quickly.

Kind-hearted people expressed their sympathy and support to Falun Gong practitioners in various ways. Streams of people came to sign our petition calling for an immediate end to the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China and for the responsible officials to be brought to justice. Groups of people came to take a look at the simulation of a practitioner in a cage being beaten up by the police. Many of them also read the anti-torture posters.

Witnessing the torture scene, an elderly Finnish lady thought the torture scene was real and loudly questioned the 'policeman': "How dare you beat her up like that!" After practitioners explained to her that this was only a simulation of torture that is being carried out against Falun Gong practitioners in China, she realized the situation. Later, another Finnish lady also cried out to the 'policeman': "Release her immediately! Release her immediately!"

Having looked at the torture re-enactment, another Finnish gentleman could not hide his deep sadness. He expressed his profound sorrow to practitioners and felt very sad that he could not do much to help us end this bloody persecution. He left very worried. After a while, he bought a small gift and left it inside the cage.

At one point, three Chinese people were passing by. A practitioner went forward to greet them and also wanted to give them Chinese leaflets. The two in front smiled and pointed at their bags, "We already have it." The practitioner asked, "Have you heard of the "Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party" published by the Epoch Times? I have a copy in hand and I can give it to you." The two Chinese smiled and replied, "We got that too." During the conversation, the third Chinese hurriedly extended his hand and asked his friends, "Nine Commentaries, Nine Commentaries." Practitioner quickly gave him a copy. He put the copy into his bag and left very happily.

The five-city anti-torture exhibition tour helped many Finnish people learn the truth of Falun Gong and the brutal persecution in China. The concerns, sympathy and support expressed by the kind-hearted Finnish people will certainly encourage us to be more diligent in letting people know the truth. We strongly believe that the day when people around the world all know about the brutal and senseless persecution of Falun Gong by Jiang Zemin and the Chinese Communist party will be the day the persecution ends and the final hour of the CCP's destruction.

(Clearwisdom.net) The spring semester has ended and the summer vacation has begun. The Falun Dafa Club has been established for one year and six months.

I'm an elementary school instructor in Taichong County. One year and six months ago, there were already a number of Falun Dafa practitioners in my school. Although we all started practicing Falun Dafa at different times, we all realized that in these modern times, the moral standard has severely declined and only the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance can purify people's hearts and society. In particular, education is a very important link for laying a solid moral foundation for children. Therefore, we have been employing different methods to bring the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance to the classes we teach. We have the students read Zhuan Falun, teach them to do the Falun Gong exercises, and teach them to recite Hong Yin. In addition, we also teach our students to follow the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance in their daily lives.

Although the students in our classes are fortunate to learn about Dafa, we feel that we should bring the beauty of Falun Dafa to more children. Therefore, we established the Falun Dafa Club in our school, to allow more children to learn Falun Dafa and learn how to be good children.

Over the past year and a half, we have had two informational activities in our school to clarify the truth to news students and share information about Falun Dafa and the persecution in China to all faculty members, students and their parents. We divide ourselves into several groups and utilize the 50 minutes during lunch break to teach students the Falun Gong exercises and help them study the Fa, three times a week. These students, aged from 7 to 12, are from different grades and classes. Although their ages vary greatly, they have no difficulty in studying the Fa or practicing the exercises.

Children who just joined the club often have common problems nowadays. These include tendencies for fighting, cursing, being selfish and picky, and so on. After studying the Fa and practicing the exercises for a period of time, we witnessed these children's positive changes. Now let's listen to their heart-felt voices.

Yan Jie: Before I practiced Falun Gong, whenever my classmates bumped into me, I definitely fought back. After I started studying the Fa, I realize that acting like that is not correct, and now I do not fight back. Instead, I just tolerate it without fussing about it.

Xuan Wen: I used to have a bad temper. When I was not happy, I would throw all the stuff on my desk onto the floor and kick down the desk. Now, I feel that I have a better temper. I will not behave this way anymore and I do not get mad so easily.

Yuan Heng: Before I studied the Fa, my father often took my younger brother and me to go swimming. My brother often asked me to teach him swimming but I just did not want to pay any attention to him. After I learned Dafa, I remember the "being kind" that Master Li taught us, and therefore took the initiative to teach my younger brother to swim.

Wan Rong: Before I studied the Fa, I often said bad words towards others. After learning the Fa, I feel that this is not kind and therefore I seldom do so anymore. In addition, in the past when my younger brother did something wrong, I just let it go. Now, I tell my mother about it because I hope that my brother will not make the same mistake again.

Ji Yan: Before I learned Falun Gong, my grades were the worst in my class. After I learned Falun Gong, my grades now rank eighth in my class. I feel very relaxed when taking exams after practicing Falun Gong and studying the Fa. My memory has become better also.

Lian Yi said: I used to be very weak and I always felt cold when I got up in the morning, even in summer. Now, I'm not afraid of the cold and I can wear short-sleeved shirts with no problem.

Yu Xiang: Previously, I often caught cold when I used an electric fan after swimming. After I began practicing Falun Dafa, I don't catch cold, no matter how I long I sit in front of the fan.

Yi Rui: I often got ill before I practiced Falun Gong. Now I seldom get sick.

Through Fa study, these children realized how to consider other people first and they try to be good children. Through practicing the exercises, they have become healthier. As I listened to the children recounting how they have changed, even though the changes were expected, I was still excited and moved by the great power of Dafa.

(Clearwisdom.net) During a weekend at the end of June, the medium-sized southern German town of Regensburg welcomed the annual Citizens Festival. In the hot weather, the streets of Regensburg were unusually noisy. Nevertheless, the public once again witnessed the peaceful and magnificent nature of Falun Gong cultivation practice.

(Clearwisdom.net) On July 10, 2005, Falun Gong practitioners in Yilan, Taiwan held an exercise demonstration to introduce Falun Dafa at Dongshanhe Tsin-shui Park, where the annual International Children's Art Festival is held. The six-week-long festival is ten years old now. Because the festival invites a large number of art performance groups from around the world and always has something new and fresh to present, it attracts hundreds of thousands of tourists from across Taiwan each year to enjoy the show and the scenery. Falun Dafa practitioners use their vacation time to come here to introduce Falun Dafa and distribute truth-clarification materials.

This year, 24 foreign performance groups from Honduras, Brazil, Bulgaria, Germany, Cameroon and other countries were invited to attend the festival. It seems to be a small United Nations! Because the performers stay at Yilan University, the practitioners contacted these young performers in advance and presented them with Falun Dafa books in different languages, bookmarks, truth-clarifying video CDs and music CDs composed by Dafa practitioners.

Since 2000, Falun Gong practitioners from Yilan have come to the festival each year to introduce Falun Dafa to participants and tourists. They often teach the Falun Gong exercises to foreign delegations. The festival has provided a very good opportunity to spread Dafa to people from across the world.

Many practitioners who participated in this activity said that they have benefited from this wonderful practice. They shared how the practice has been spread to 78 countries and areas throughout the world and how the practice, which has received more than 1,300 awards, has been recognized by people from all different nations. Unfortunately in Mainland China, because so many people practiced Falun Gong, the Communist Party under the instigation of former president Jiang Zemin, has been brutally persecuting this wonderful practice. Practitioners who resolutely uphold their belief in Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance have been suffering cruel persecution over the past six years in China. Yilan practitioners believe that as more and more people learn the facts, awareness of the truth of Falun Dafa and the persecution will eventually grow, and the persecution will end.

I am a soldier in Mainland China and I am 23 years old. I joined the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) after I enrolled in the army. I used to believe that the CCP controlled government works for the sake of the people. I thought it was a powerful core that was necessary for bringing benefit to all people. But in the recent few years, through many things that I've seen or heard, I have realized that the CCP is completely different from what I previously thought of it. It does not think of people's interests or spiritual needs. In contrast, it is rude, arbitrary and acts without rationality. Its performance is very fake and wicked.

Regarding the current situation of our society, there are corrupt officials, thieves, robbers, killers, criminals, prostitutes and so on. It is not just me saying these things; people today have complaints all over the place and say that our current society is dying. The society is in such a bad state, and the government doesn't do anything to try to improve the situation. In contrast, it focuses its major manpower, financial resources and materials on arresting and persecuting a large population of good people (i.e. Falun Gong practitioners) who are innocent and weaponless. I knew these people before I joined the army. I know that they are kind and honest. They are the best persons because they always think of others first and do good things for other people. I also know that the books they study are good, and teach people how to be good people. The exercises they do are for improving health. All these are great things. If the entire nation would come together to learn this practice and everyone would get a peaceful mind and a healthy body, how stable and lovely the society could be! However, the CCP led government considers these good people and their excellent practice as its enemies, and it has made up many lies and used them as excuses to persecute these people. In the meantime, it deceived and misguided many people towards hating Falun Gong and Falun Gong practitioners.

According to reliable reports, the government uses all sorts of brutal torture methods to force Falun Gong practitioners to give up their beliefs. The extreme torture methods are extremely inhumane and countless people have been killed. The truth is kept secret from the outside world. Isn't this against the universal principle? Is this the Party or government that I should rely on? Will I have a good ending if I follow such a Party? I think that I am going to have to face retribution since I believe that it is the universe's absolute law that kind persons get good returns and bad persons get bad fortune.

I am extremely disappointed with the CCP based on the facts that I just mentioned above. Thus I have decided to withdraw from the CCP and all its related organizations.

I hereby claim that I resign from all the malevolent organizations, including the CCP, the Youth Party and the Young Pioneer Party. I also want to claim that all my words said under oath at the CCP enrollment ceremony are completely void. I absolutely want to move away from the CCP and choose my own future path. Even though I am not a Falun Dafa practitioner, I will be like them to behave as a good person in society. I will strongly support Falun Dafa and its practitioners.

I also want to say a few words from my heart to my family and relatives who have been deceived: Don't listen to the Party's propaganda and don't be deceived. Please use your own brains and eyes to look carefully and think deeply about what is good and what is bad. Think clearly and see clearly, and choose a safe future path for your own life.

A Policeman's life is saved after reading Zhuan Falun

I am a policeman from a police substation in a township of Liaoning Province. I had released Falun Dafa practitioners three times when I was on duty. By the end of January 2005, I was diagnosed with end-stage lung cancer. My children were determined that I should have an operation to remove the tumors. During the surgery, the doctors found that my lungs, as well as my trachea, were full of tumors. They said that they could not continue with the operation and closed up my chest. Then they told my family members that I would only live for one more month. Coming back from the hospital, I asked my daughter-in-law, who is a Falun Dafa practitioner, for the book Zhuan Falun. I read the book for seven days, whereupon I was able to get out of bed and move around. Now, nobody would ever believe that I had ever been a patient with incurable lung cancer. I know that Master Li Hongzhi saved me and gave me my second life. I am very grateful.

My illness is gone

The director of a factory in Henan Province was suffering from many diseases, including cardiac arrhythmia, which caused him to be short of breath and left him without any strength. Whenever he was alone at home and became ill, he would crawl out his door immediately after he called for help. He was afraid that otherwise nobody would know that he was ill.

Once at the hospital, a doctor told him that a female patient who had the same illness had recovered. The doctor recommended that he talk to her. So the director and his wife went to the woman's home. The woman's husband is a Falun Dafa practitioner who happened to be at home. The practitioner explained that his wife's illness had not been cured in the hospital. In fact, Falun Dafa had purified her body. The director was in his sixties. Because the factory director had been deeply poisoned by the government's hate propaganda, the practitioner methodically clarified the truth to him. He talked about the "4.25 Incident," the false "Self-immolation Incident," and the beauty of Falun Dafa. When the director asked if he also could practice, the practitioner said, "Yes." The practitioner's wife then cautioned the man that the police might take him away if he started to practice. The director replied, "I am not afraid even if they do arrest me." As soon as he said this, the director said suddenly, "My illness is gone." He stood up and walked around the room. The director's wife was very surprised and viewed it as a miracle. Later, the director started to genuinely practice Falun Dafa.

Whereas, Falun Gong began in China in 1992 as a self-improvement practice that combines meditation and gentle exercises with the guiding principles of truthfulness, compassion and tolerance and is deeply rooted in the Chinese traditional culture; and

Whereas, Falun Gong has attracted people from all around the world and from all walks of lives, different ethnic backgrounds and ages and has been recognized with many awards from China, the U.S., Canada and other countries for bringing people good health in both mind and body; and

Whereas, since first coming to Virginia in 1996, Falun Gong has benefited many Virginians both physically and mentally, and during the past eight years Virginian practitioners have made a great contribution to their local community by offering free workshops and seminars in public libraries, bookstores, churches, schools and recreation centers; and

Whereas, Falun Gong is designed to preserve precious human traditions such as honesty, courtesy, loyalty and unselfishness.

Now, therefore, I, Paul D. Fraim, Mayor of the City of Norfolk, do hereby proclaim July 10-17, 2005 as

Falun Gong Days

in the City of Norfolk and encourage all citizens to become more knowledgeable of Falun Gong and to participate in activities scheduled during Falun Gong Days.

(Clearwisdom.net) Thank you Master for giving me another chance to examine the state of my cultivation. I obtained the Fa five years ago, but the present state of my cultivation is not as good as it used to be. I am not as diligent as I was when I first obtained the Fa. Although I have done a lot of work for Fa-rectification, strictly speaking, that is just work. Using the excuse of being busy, I could not guarantee the quality of Fa study, and did not have time to practice the five exercises. I also could not concentrate while sending forth righteous thoughts. Day after day, I treated the three things that Master bestowed upon practitioners as routine work. I knew this deviated from cultivation. I often thought about it and looked inward. When I found a problem, I thought that I had found the root cause. Yet the state of my cultivation did not change. I often felt guilty and helpless. I even doubted whether I could still cultivate, and I could not step forward because I felt inferior.

Lately, a thought crossed my mind: Do I respect Master? Although this question was brought up by a fellow practitioner before, I did not really think about it. Since the beginning of my practice I have never attended Master's 9 day classes. So I decided to calm down and watch Master's lectures carefully. Every minute I did not want to be out of Master's line of vision. Master's facial expressions and movements were so compassionate and peaceful. I felt as though I had learned many Fa principles which I had never known before. It felt just like the first time that I obtained the Fa. I respect Master so much, and I am so thankful.

I was physically and mentally very unhealthy before cultivation. Master purified my body after I obtained the Fa. I still remember the most painful purification process. I had abdominal pain and a hematoma that lasted two weeks. It was a test of my firm belief in Master and the Fa. I had only one thought at that time and that was to believe in Master and the Fa. Every morning, wind or rain, I went to the practice site to exercise and study Fa. I feel that this Fa is so good. I do not know how to repay Dafa. Master said that exercising at practice sites is spreading the Fa. So, I cannot miss it.

I grew up in a family with one parent. Because of my poor health and pressure from my family, I did not complete my education as I wished. The seeming unfairness and difficulties in the process of growing up hurt me deeply. I also developed a sense of inferiority. The Fa opened my wisdom. I think that I received so much from the Fa, and I should do my best to spread the Fa to repay what I have been given. In the period of Fa-rectification, Master gives us the ability to send forth righteous thoughts, and asks us to clarify the truth. Gradually, I learned to clarify the truth through the internet. In order to send truth clarifying materials to sentient beings, I learned to use email, to edit the truth clarification material and to chat on BBS. I sincerely want everyone to know that Falun Dafa is good, and hope that they understand it. I acquired several skills. They were granted by Master. Whenever I wanted to use a skill, Master would arrange someone to teach me.

To better clarify the truth, and coordinate as one body, we set up several groups. During this process, several of my attachments surfaced. Some examples are focusing purely on doing work, jealousy, the mentality of showing-off and competition. They replaced my pure motive to clarify the truth. All the unrighteous states were caused by my loophole. I did not openly talk about my cultivation state, and was afraid to expose my shortcomings to fellow practitioners. I was afraid about what others would think if I did not cultivate well. I was afraid of so many things. The deeply hidden attachment to inferiority started to interfere with me. I knew that I was not in a good cultivation state, so I did not dare to be involved in editing truth clarification material any longer. Because my heart was not pure, the work could not touch people's hearts. The more I thought about it, the more I was afraid of doing it, and the more I isolated myself.

In every experience sharing conference, Master has emphasized the importance of studying the Fa with a calm mind. But how can we really study the Fa in our hearts? I enlightened that we need to study the Fa with full respect for the Fa, and the respect should come from the bottom of our hearts. Now when I study the Fa, I ask myself to sit in full lotus position, or at least in half lotus position. I calm down first, and then study the Fa with a calm mind.

From the beginning of my truth clarification, I have been using "true heart" as a pen name. I hope I can really put "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance" into practice, and use my true heart and compassionate mind to touch the hearts of sentient beings. The detour from my cultivation path has delayed my mission to save sentient beings. I thank Master's compassionate guidance on my path to enlightenment step by step. I am grateful that Master has given me another chance to let go of this attachment. From now on, I want to begin my cultivation anew, and do well in studying the Fa, doing the exercises, sending righteous thoughts and clarifying the truth. I wrote down this experience and hope that my fellow practitioners can avoid the same mistake that I made. I hope that we can all cultivate ourselves well, and advance diligently on the path to Consummation.

(Clearwisdom.net) We are Falun Dafa practitioners. We practice Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance together. During this process, we should cultivate benevolent and compassionate thoughts. In the end, it is our benevolent thoughts and actions that will move people. I would like to share two trivial things with you that happened to me.

One was on a bus. Once I clarified the truth about Falun Gong on the bus and was reported to the police. Therefore, the local police asked the bus driver and the conductor questions. Ever since then, the conductor has given me a dirty look whenever I have taken the bus.

One day when I got on the bus, there was no vacant seat. The conductor was sitting on a seat and asked me to sit on the big iron box that covers part of the engine, by the bus driver. In fact, the conductor is supposed to give his seat to the passenger. I didn't mind sitting on the big iron box in the front of the bus. Soon more passengers got on the bus. There were four or five people standing and one of them was a child. I stood up and let the child sit on the box. A girl, about 17 years old, sitting by the window immediately got up and offered me her seat. I kindly refused her. After some people got off, I found another seat. Soon, several more people got on the bus and there was another kid who had to stand. Again I gave my seat to him.

After seeing me give up my seat to others, the behavior of people on the bus changed. The change in the conductor's attitude was the most evident. She used to announce the next stop with hostility in her voice and was rude to everybody. Now her voice became tender. When elderly people got on or off the bus, she reached out to help them. She completely lost her hostility towards me. The people who take the bus are residents from neighboring villages and we all know each other. Most of them know that I practice Falun Gong. Through my actions they see that Falun Gong practitioners are good people.

Several times when I took the bus again, I gave my seat to people with children. A visitor from a neighboring county needed to get off at the next stop, so I reminded him. He said, "You are really a good person. You talk to people with such good manners." People on the bus all looked at me. I smiled lightly. When I was about to get off the bus, I couldn't take all the bags with me at one time. The conductor passed two bags to me. Even though I didn't clarify the truth about Falun Gong on the bus, people all know that Falun Dafa is great from my behavior.

I wipe off the desks and clean up everything in my workplace every morning. If I see that the cleaning cloth is dirty, then I will clean it. I also bring soap from home for others to use in the office. My co-workers praise me for being a clean, diligent, and kind-hearted person. They all know that I practice Falun Gong. Seeing how practitioners really think about others, they do not say anything negative about Dafa or practitioners any more. Such things are trivial, but I always remember that I am a practitioner of Falun Dafa and should manifest the image of a Dafa practitioner at all times. Then those who do not know Dafa will know that Dafa is good from seeing my behavior. As time went by, some co-workers who were not on good terms with me said, "She is getting kinder and kinder."

I want everyone I meet to know that practitioners are good. The police arrested me several times during the persecution and it affected my work unit. This made my co-workers unhappy with me. Yet recently, when I went back to work again, none of them were hostile to me. In the office, I often talk to people about supernormal phenomena and the great power of Dafa. I hope this will help eliminate the old concepts of superstition in people's minds. It works well.

We can directly clarify the truth to some people; to others we cannot. Still, we should remember to leave them with our compassion. Be it in the work unit, in the family, in society, or wherever we go, we need to be good persons and be compassionate to others. Now I feel that the environment in my family and my office are changing. Even the people I often meet are changing. The power of Compassion is so great. It can eliminate the evil and selfish thoughts fostered for so long a time. It can also encourage kindness among people and melt the ice so they will be in harmony together again. Even the boss in my work unit is gradually getting rid of his bad thoughts about practitioners. He can now treat us practitioners properly.

I. About assumptions

Since July 20, 1999, from the moment when the evil came out overwhelmingly, I had been looking forward to an end to all of this with a strong attachment to time. I was yearning for an end with the idea: "Endure it, depend on others, and wait to see", subconsciously following the arrangements of the old forces in the universe. I even thought when reciting the Fa that I would be able to study the Fa in custody if I were to be arrested. Because of my attachments, I was persecuted by the evil and forced into a detention center.

In the detention center, I was thinking that it was not the right place for me, that I should be home. At the same time, I thought that if I were to be put into a forced labor camp, I might be "transformed", because so many other diligent practitioners had turned against Dafa there. Therefore, I decided I would rather stay there and be sentenced than be taken to a forced labor camp. All of these assumptions of mine were in fact acknowledging the persecution. Then I started to recite the Fa, and gradually my thoughts became clear. My mind became clearer with the reading of every article of the Fa, and I became more steadfast in the Fa. I truly understood how it feels to be melted into the Fa during that period. However, afraid of enduring the hardship, I was not able to deny the arrangement of the old forces. I believed at the time that to deny the arrangement of the old forces was just to do well. Based on this mistake, I obeyed the evil's arrangement while reciting the Fa at every possible moment. I thought that if I were forced into prison, I would do better when facing the evil brainwashing sessions, because I would recite more of the Fa. I did not really understand Master's words:

Just before I was released from prison, I was wondering whether the 610 Office would intercept me, and what I would do if this happened. After realizing this thought was not correct, I immediately eliminated it. The evil latched on to this thought, though, and repeatedly interfered with me. In those days, I was always making many assumptions at the occurrence of each event, which was a habit I had formed before I started cultivation. I had these thoughts over and over again, and then I found out that such thinking was incorrect, and thus eliminated them. But afterwards the same thoughts would come back, and I eliminated them again, causing myself a lot of suffering in the process.

Now, I understand that all those assumptions actually stemmed from my "selfishness." Selfishness is thinking only of oneself and something formed after birth. It is a passive, negative mindset and a part of the communist culture, formed under the fierce lead of the communist party, to alter and protect oneself. It makes you imagine the worst and live in paranoia, and it makes you surrender and be controlled by it. Over time, it becomes second nature and you don't even notice that you are being manipulated. Therefore, I tell myself to distinguish between thoughts: "That thought is not truly me, I have to control it, stop it from appearing, and ultimately it must be eliminated."

There is a saying, "Act only after thinking carefully." I used to think that the way I deliberated for a long time over things was what this referred to. But now I realize that the true "thinking carefully" should be to think about things in advance, to think whether I should do it or not, whether it will hurt others or not, and whether it is in accordance with the principles of being a good person.

Master told us, "In Fa-Rectification Your Thoughts Have to be Righteous, Not Human." The so-called assumptions are the human notions that need to be eliminated.

II. About the Environment

When I was sent to prison, because of the upright thinking and behavior and dedication of those practitioners sent in before me, some prisons developed a relatively good environment. Practitioners could study, practice, not be monitored, not have to do any labor, etc. Meanwhile, with Master's blessings and fellow practitioners' coordination, the evil was restrained. Of course, the evil persecution never stops. In such a harsh situation, we insist on doing the three things to create a better environment.

There was one time, when a practitioner was thrown into an isolation cell, the news spread fast around the prison. After discussion, we decided to request his release from the staff in the prison. The staff tried to turn down our request with rude and unreasonable words, but we remained unmoved. On the second day, we were told that he was freed. Because the evil always lies and deceives, we needed proof that it was true and sent somebody there to visit. They agreed to it. Afterwards, we found out that practitioners from other prisons also helped us in their own way.

Because of our continuous effort, the environment became better and better. At that time, I was feeling confident. But looking back, what we did satisfied the pre-existing environment only--I only focused on the goal of building a good environment, not the process of doing so. Then, when I needed to be on a higher level, new problems arose. Sometimes, there were differences in our understanding of Dafa, so problems occurred on some issues, gaps appeared in our group coordination, and the evil took advantage. For example, in order to try to break through while maintaining our existing environment, there were disagreements with some practitioners' righteous thoughts and actions. The difficulties at the time were about how to maintain the present situation, how to withstand the persecution, and about hoping for and waiting for the time to pass by. We overlooked thinking about how to negate the persecution fundamentally and break through the obstacles before us. We relied too much on the group to help us, rather than diligently improving step by step. When we dealt with problems with a human mentality instead of righteous thoughts, especially when facing lies and tricks from the authorities, it was so easy to be hindered by them.

While in prison, facing the evil constantly requires strong righteous thoughts all the time, as once there is a loophole, the evil will take advantage of it. Subjected to these conditions over such a long time and placed under huge mental pressure and painful torture, one needs strong willpower and steadfast righteous thoughts. The fundamental attachment was that of selfishness. As Master said, "With attachments left behind, the lightened boats sail swiftly" (The Knowing Heart)

Cultivation is very serious--let us all strive forward together diligently.

(Clearwisdom.net) I am a farmer. I used to have a strange disease. I felt so dizzy that I could not move, threw up repeatedly, and was very weak. I tried to get the disease treated at the big hospitals in Beijing and Baoding. After spending a lot of money and rendering my family penniless, the disease was not cured. I tried to practice many kinds of qigong, but not one was effective. As the man in the family, I not only couldn't do any work but was also a burden to the entire family. I was really in deep sorrow. Once, I secretly bought some rat poison while contemplating suicide. But when I thought about my family and how they would suffer if I died, I gave up. In this way, I struggled between life and death.

Fortunately, I started to practice Falun Gong in February 1999. When I was watching the videotapes of Master's Fa-lectures, Master helped me and purified my body. I regretted obtaining the Fa so late, but a fellow practitioner encouraged me, saying, "It's not too late. If you firmly and truly practice cultivation, you will not miss anything." I insisted on attending group Fa study and group exercise practice every day. Very soon, I was healthy again. From that moment, I felt full of confidence about my life. It is our merciful and great Master who pulled me back from my life and death struggles. Facing the picture of Master, tears ran down my face even though I seldom cried.

Beginning on July 20, 1999, Jiang Zemin and the Communist Party collaborated to brutally persecute Falun Gong. I talked to Master's picture with tears, "Master, you should never come back. The Chinese Community Party is capable of any evil deed." (Later I realized that I was not understanding the Fa from within the Fa.) At the beginning of the persecution, and in order to let fellow practitioners obtain Master's new lectures and truth clarifying materials in time, I always traveled dozens of miles downtown to make copies. Therefore, the circulation of the newest information could be guaranteed within a dozen of our local villages. We kept clarifying the truth, handing out leaflets, and hanging up banners without a break.

Around 2 a.m. on June 2, 2001, a dozen people from the village cadre, public security, the town's armed forces department, the 610 Office, and the local police station all came over the wall and ransacked my home. They took away Master's picture, Falun Gong books, and truth clarifying materials. They even threatened my five-year-old daughter to make her tell them whether there were any remaining truth clarifying materials or banners. She was so frightened that she lost her voice. The director of the local police station, Chang Jiuquan, wanted to abduct my wife, even though she had not put on a jacket. When I tired to stop him, they handcuffed me and took me to the police station. I was handcuffed to a bed and forced to kneel down with my upper body straight. The policemen started to violently kick my legs with their hard leather shoes. At the same time, they applied an 8, 000-volt electric baton to my head, face, and all over my body. They did not stop until I was on the verge of death.

When they could not achieve their objectives even with such brutal tortures, they requested the chief of the criminal police team, Ruan, to interrogate and torture me. I had only Master and Falun Dafa in my mind. No matter what they did, it was useless. Ruan could not help but give up either. Later, they tricked me with a telephone book that I had torn apart. Because I could not identify their trick and was afraid of implicating fellow practitioners, I said something that I should not have said. Later they sent me to the city detention center and illegally detained me for more than five days. Then they took me back to the police station to persecute me even more.

My wife was afraid that my body could not stand the tortures, so she requested the police station to release me. Chang Jiuquan told my wife to pay 5,000 yuan to gain my release. She went to the Village Commission to appeal. The Secretary of the commission asked her to spend 1,000 yuan to treat them. My family was penniless, so how could we have so much money? My wife could only borrow money from friends and relatives. I was finally released after the authorities had extorted 7,000 yuan from my family.

After I returned home, I saw banners and flyers requesting my unconditional release posted everywhere. It was because my fellow practitioners had been trying to save me! I immediately attended a meeting of the team involved in validating the Fa. In order to let more sentient beings know the truth about Falun Gong, I called directly to the chief of the police station, the public security department, and the 610 Office to persuade them not to persecute Falun Gong. I told them about the rule of "Good is rewarded with good, and evil is met with evil." Some people who used to persecute Falun Gong practitioners are not doing it any more. This was all because of Master's great mercy and the power of Dafa. I just did a little bit that a practitioner should do under the merciful protection of Master.

I am a young disciple from Liaoning Province. I am nine years old and go to elementary school. Ever since I started to practice Falun Dafa with my Mom, I have had an unshakable belief in Master and in Dafa. I got rid of many bad habits and became very healthy.

After I read the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party, Mom told me, "On Monday at your school's flag ceremony, you should send righteous thoughts." Out of fear, I still raised my right hand at the flag ceremony. On my way back home, a bee stung the middle finger of my right hand, which was very painful. I realized immediately that I should not have raised my right hand to salute the flag at the ceremony. Before going to school the next day, I sent righteous thoughts so that the flag would not be raised. It turned out that the public address system broke down. From then on, I kept sending righteous thoughts every day in order to get rid of the flag. I could see that the flag post started to shake and I maintained my righteous thoughts. Finally, one day, the blood-red flag flew away. Two students were sent to run after it, but they had a hard time catching it. Eventually, it touched the ground about 500 meters away. When the two students drew near, it took off again. The students spent a lot of energy trying to get hold of the flag. When they returned to school, the flagpole was still there but the string was broken. The flag could not be raised any longer.

(Clearwisdom.net) For two years, a fellow practitioner in a neighboring county who is a coordinator of Falun Gong truth clarification tasks was always very busy and tied up with much work. This affected the quality of his Fa study. He found it difficult to settle down and study the Fa with a peaceful mind. But there was no solution. As the practitioners were scattered all over different villages, the coordinator was kept busy with no one to help him.

A year ago we first heard that the coordinator in two neighboring cities suddenly lost consciousness and was in critical condition. Fellow practitioners surrounded her and sent forth righteous thoughts. She only regained consciousness after several days. The interference was terrible. I am also a coordinator in this city. Because I was busy with Falun Gong truth clarifying work I neglected my Fa study, doing the Falun Gong exercises and sending forth righteous thoughts.

Faced with these problems, should we not review them anew?

Since the persecution began on July 20, 1999, there has been no Falun Gong Research Society and no practice site counselors or instructors, but we have had the Minghui/Clearwisdom website. Falun Gong practitioners became one body again of their own initiative. Every coordinator took the initiative to take responsibility for Falun Gong truth clarification tasks. It was all done on a voluntary basis and out of altruism for fellow practitioners.

Along with the progress of Fa rectification, new problems appeared. In the special environment in China, some coordinators did not have previous counseling experience. Actually, it is not work but cultivation practice. This era offers many opportunities to be tempered. How to do truth clarification tasks well is a very important and serious issue. Master's requirements for coordinators have been pointed out in the Fa. (Refer to books such as Essentials to Further Advancement; Explaining the Content of Falun Dafa and Teaching the Fa at the Assistants' Fa Conference in Changchun). Every veteran practitioner should step forward and take the initiative to clarify the truth. This would make it possible for us and others to seize the opportunity to fully perform our functions as Dafa particles. In this way, the existing coordinators will not be so busy and raising our level as one body is also achieved.

(Clearwisdom.net) Xiaoxiao is a 9-year-old girl who is in grade 2 of elementary school. She is smart, lively and lovely, and her teachers and classmates all like her. She often tells other students, "All those grandpas, grandmas, uncles and aunts who practice Falun Gong are good people!" [These are affectionate terms used for acquaintances of various ages, and do not signify family relationships.]

Beginning in 1999, Xiaoxiao could often see things that other people could not see. On the lunar calendar date July 14, 2000, Xiaoxiao went to her grandma's home with her mother. At that time, her mother wasn't yet practicing Falun Dafa. On their way, Xiaoxiao suddenly pointed at a spot beside the road and asked her mother, "Mom, look, what a long beard that old grandpa in white clothes has. What does he carry?" After hearing what Xiaoxiao said, her mother looked around and didn't see anything, and she thought it was just the child's imagination. So she didn't pay any attention to it and continued walking ahead. After a while, Xiaoxiao said again, "Mom, look how many eyes there are on that big tree, and they are staring at us." Xiaoxiao kept talking like this on the way. Her mother said to herself, "Children usually won't tell lies. Maybe what she said is true."

In 2003, Xiaoxiao's mother was unwell. She learned from the lady living next door that Falun Gong is very good and has miraculous effects in curing diseases and improving health. Xiaoxiao's mother respectfully asked to borrow a copy of Zhuan Falun to read. One day, Xiaoxiao told her mother, "Mom, let me teach you to do the exercises!" Then Xiaoxiao double-crossed her legs to show her mother the fifth exercise. Her mother looked at her movements, felt puzzled and asked, "From whom did you learn the practice? Are your movements correct?" Xiaoxiao said, "I could not tell you about this. It should be all right as long as you learn how to do it." Her mother took Xiaoxiao to her neighbor's home and the neighbor asked Xiaoxiao to repeat the exercises again. Seeing Xiaoxiao finishing the exercises slowly without any mistakes, the lady said happily, "Right, right, it is indeed like that." Thereafter, Xiaoxiao and her mother started on the path to cultivate Falun Dafa.

One day in March 2005, Xiaoxiao's mother took Xiaoxiao to deliver Dafa truth-clarifying materials, and when they returned, it was already past 11:00 p.m. Mother asked, "Xiaoxiao, it is so late now. Do you feel afraid?" Xiaoxiao looked up at the sky and said, "What should I feel afraid of? Look, Master Li is sitting on a lotus flower and watching us beside the moon!"

According to the report "More Facts about How Ms. Gao Rongrong Was Tortured to Death" on Clearwisdom.net, Ms. Gao Rongrong, a Falun Gong practitioner from Shenyang City, was abducted on March 6, 2005. She was secretly detained at Masanjia Forced Labor Camp until June 6, 2005. When she was in danger of losing her life, she was sent to the Medical University Hospital. In front of Gao's mother, some persons who were watching Gao Rongrong asked the doctor many times when Gao would die. According to one doctor, testing revealed that Gao Rongrong's skull showed some abnormality, which doctors suspected was caused by injections of nerve damaging drugs. Her family asked for Gao's medical and diagnostic files from Masanjia Forced Labor Camp and the Medical University Hospital, but their request was refused without any valid explanation.

Gao Rongrong's case reminds us that injecting unknown drugs into practitioners is one of the base means that the Communist Party has adopted to persecute Falun Gong practitioners.

The following are some incomplete cases giving details of the persecution in Jilin, Liaoning, Zhejiang, Sichuan, Shandong, Guangzhou, Hebei Province, Beijing, and Tianjin City as reported on Clearwisdom.

Brainwashing Center in Chuanying District, Jilin City

On June 22, 2005, in Jilin Province, the 610 Office in Jilin City organized a brainwashing class in the Chuanying District of the city, with the assistance of unlawful people from the local community and police offices. Ten Falun Gong practitioners have been abducted and taken to the center, where they are forced to attend the brainwashing sessions. In order to carry out their operations in secrecy, the brainwashing center was set up inside the rest house of the Chunguang Dairy Products Factory in Chunguang Village, Chuanying District. Practitioners aren't allowed to go home until they are "transformed." There are people on duty 24-hours-a-day at the brainwashing center. People from the 610 Office illegally injected nerve-damaging drugs into a Falun Gong practitioner who resisted transformation, which put the practitioner's life in danger.

Chuanying Brainwashing Center of Jilin City

In early June, 2005, the Jilin City Chuanying Brainwashing Center was closed as a result of letters and calls from within China and abroad. While Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Ying was on a hunger strike to resist the persecution in the brainwashing center, she was injected with an unknown drug that damaged her nervous system and caused her great harm. After being sent home, her body still didn't function normally, so she went to confront the officers from the "610 Office" in Chuanying District, "What did you put into me? My heart was racing, my memory was blurry for several days, and I still don't have much energy." The 610 Office officer replied, "What we injected was only glucose."

Shenyang Dabei Female Jail

Ms.Yu Fang (alias, nearly 60 years-old) is a Falun Gong practitioner in Liaoning Province. On September 6, 2001, she was illegally sent to Shenyang Dabei Female Jail for detention. On the following day, a warden with the surname Bai, told President Liu of the Jail Hospital to torture Ms. Yu by tying her to a death bed on the fourth floor, and then ordered the doctor to inject an unknown substance into her. After the injection, Yu Fang experienced diarrhea and vomiting, her body became swollen, and her skin turned black. She was tortured in this way for 6 consecutive days and nights. She received six vials of drugs in total. During this torture, she had to relieve herself on the bed. Consequently, she was forced to accept the rules of the prison.

Shiliping Forced Labor Camp in Zhejiang Province

On May 31, 2005, the Clearwisdom.net website reported the following situation: Police officers in the Shiliping Forced Labor Camp in Zhejiang Province persecute detained Falun Gong practitioners using various torture methods, including injecting them with psychotropic drugs. A major increase in the cruel tortures occurred after the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp (a notorious camp with the reputation of "hell on earth" for Falun Gong practitioners) sent a group to teach Shiliping Forced Labor Camp their evil torture methods. The wicked police stop at nothing to brainwash each newly arrived practitioner. The tactics they use are solitary confinement, beatings, and drug injections. The police judge a practitioner to be completely "transformed" when they reach the stage of a "mental collapse." Until a practitioner reaches this state, the police do not consider the practitioner to be transformed.

Those who refuse to be coerced into renouncing their beliefs in Falun Gong are injected with psychotropic drugs, and then locked in a confinement room. The police use the surveillance camera, or open a small window on the metal door, to monitor and/or frighten the practitioners.

One practitioner who was injected with such drugs described the experience this way: "After I woke up, I felt inescapable and indescribable fear. Every face I saw was distorted and looked like a ghost. I felt that I was in hell and my body was alternately hot and cold. I was tormented like a lab rat. When I heard the mewing of a cat outside, I thought that the cat would immediately become as large as a tiger and would be released inside the cell to tear me apart. Even the marks on the walls looked like they were snakes or poisonous insects that jumped off the walls. The dark purple marks on the floor looked like blood trails left by those who had died there. Every pore of my body gave off the terrible smell of the drug. My saliva and urine also smelled like the drug. The guards and prisoners watched me rolling all over the concrete bed and struggling. Sometimes I cried uncontrollably. I couldn't tell how long I was in this state. At the end I couldn't tell time any more. Every second seemed like it was thousands of years long. Every time I blinked my eyes, it felt like a few hundred years had passed. My mind and heart were totally exhausted. My brain felt so tired that it was beyond the limits of my endurance. My spirit was struggling to stay alive and I felt like I was on the brink of death. The torture seemed endless."

A Falun Gong practitioner who used to be a reporter for Linan Daily became mentally disordered after being injected with a hallucinogenic drug and being confined in the small room for a long time.

Falun Gong practitioner Li Heping, from Hangzhou City, was injected with the drugs and beaten in the confinement room. The guards then claimed that Li went insane from practicing Falun Gong!

A retired elderly Falun Gong practitioner was detained in the confinement room for 2-3 months. After the long period of isolation, the practitioner suffered terribly from always "hearing things."

Gong Zihui and Que Fazhi from Panzhihua City, Sichuan Province

As reported on the Clearwisdom.net website on June 25, 2005, at the end of 2002, Falun Gong practitioners Gong Zihui and Que Fazhi from Miyi County, Panzhihua City, Sichuan Province went to Beijing to appeal to the government for the right to practice their beliefs. However, they were arrested in Beijing. Police officers from Dongcheng District in Beijing injected toxic drugs into Que Fazhi, which caused her whole body to swell and her internal organs to function poorly. After the practitioners were taken to their hometown by their local police, Que Fazhi's life was in great danger. Because the police were afraid of being held responsible for her death, they sent her home. Within a month, Que Fazhi who had been very healthy before being arrested passed away in extreme pain. Gong Zihui suffered the same torture.

Gong Zihui firmly believes in Dafa. Police officers from Miyi County couldn't make her give up the practice of Falun Gong. Since her husband is from Neijiang City, the police then sent her to Neijiang Detention Center in Sichuan Province. At the detention center, the police instigated cellmates to beat her, grab her hair, and bang her against the wall while pinching her. Eventually, her whole body turned black and blue. Because of the persecution, she was on a hunger strike for 42 days. During that time, police injected a red toxic chemical into her body every day. Gong Zihui said that after the chemical was injected she had pain all over her body; she felt even more pain on the inside of her body, causing such agony that she lay on the ground rolling from side to side without end.

After 42 days had passed, the police at the Neijiang Detention Center saw that Gong was about the die, so they notified her husband to come and get her. When her husband arrived he found that she was barely breathing, and she had lost the demeanor of a human.

Three years have passed, and with steadfast cultivation, and under the extraordinary power of Dafa, she has survived. However, the side effects of being injected with the toxic substance still cause her to suffer from time to time. She can feel pain all over her body at any time. When her muscles hurt, it causes her head to twist. She sometimes has difficulty breathing because she feels a lot of pressure around her heart, and other internal organs suffer as well. Those who have seen her suffer can't hold back their tears.

Liu Dayuan in Shandong Province

Clearwisdom.net reported on June 24, 2005, that Shandong Province Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liu Dayuan went to Beijing to appeal and to clarify the truth about Falun Gong in 2000. As soon as she arrived at the Appeals Bureau, she was seized, searched, beaten by the police, and then sent to Shandong Province Jining City Psychiatric Hospital, where doctors and nurses injected her with drugs that damaged her central nervous system. The staff was so afraid of Liu Dayuan dying in the hospital that they let her go home.

Wen Fenhua from Guangdong Province

According to a June 2, 2005 report on Clearwisdom.net, at about 8 a.m. on May 30, 2005, Dafa practitioner Ms. Wen Fenhua of Mianhu Town, Jiexi County, Guangdong Province, was arrested by a group from the county police bureau, the 610 Office, and the local police station.

At about 10 p.m. on June 17, chief Huang of the Public Security Office went to Fenhua's home and asked her husband Yang Yingpeng to open the door, saying Fenhua was on her way. Yingpeng opened the door, but did not see his wife. Director Huang said Fenhua was in a van. Yingpeng went to the van, and saw a woman helping Wen Fenhua to sit up. Ms. Wen was leaning against the side of the vehicle unable to move. Yingpeng was stunned, and called Fenhua's name several times. Fenhua could only answer once faintly. Yingpeng squatted down, and together with two men and another woman carried Fenhua into the house. Yingpeng asked why Fenhua was like this. Director Huang said it was because she went on a hunger strike. Upon hearing that, Fenhua struggled to say, "I did eat." They put Fenhua down, but she was too weak to support herself.

In the two days that followed, Fenhua needed help to eat and go to the bathroom. She needed help to turn over, and her eyes were closed all the time. When others called her name, she could only respond with a feeble hum. In addition, there were many bruises on her legs, and some wounds were still exuding fluid. More seriously, in many places on her wrists and the backs of her hands, there were needle marks, some dried blood was visible. On analysis, it was very likely that she was injected with drugs.

An Unknown Person from Tianjin City

A Tianjin Falun Gong practitioner reported the following on the Clearwisdom.net website on June 17, 2005: "In November 2000, I was abducted and taken to the Tianjin City Hongqiao Detention Center. I went on a hunger strike to protest. I was force-fed and sentenced to 2 years in a forced labor camp. In mid-January 2001, because I refused to write the guarantee statement and repentance statement, I was forced to stand from 6 a.m. until 12 p.m. every day for 2 months. The severe lack of circulation caused necrosis of my toenails. At the beginning of April, my four limbs were handcuffed to a bed, two prisoners held me down, and someone injected an unknown substance into my body, which almost caused a mental breakdown. I felt like I was losing control of myself. At the end of April, I was sent to a brainwashing center. Later, I was transferred to another brainwashing center and also made to do highly intensive labor."

Hebei Province Han Junmiao's Case

Ms. Han Junmiao was 53 years old. She had a junior college education and was the chief Recruiting Officer of the Education Bureau, in Xiong County, Baoding City. Before she started practicing Falun Dafa, she had several illnesses, such as heart disease, liver disease, and swelling in the legs. Her symptoms disappeared after she began practicing Falun Gong. She benefited both mentally and physically from the practice. She had improved moral standards and worked diligently. She was well-liked and respected by her colleagues and supervisors at work.

Ms. Han, a Falun Dafa practitioner from Xiong County, Hebei Province, was severely persecuted for her belief in Falun Dafa from July 1999 till the day she died in May 2005. During that period of time, the local 610 Office put her in Baoding City Psychiatric Hospital, Baoding City Forced Labor Camp, Gaoyang Forced Labor Camp, Shijiazhuang City Forced Labor Camp, Xiong County Brainwashing Center, and the Baoding City Brainwashing Center. She endured harsh torture and still firmly believed in Falun Dafa. After she returned home, Ms. Han was watched, monitored, and harassed by the 610 Office.

In July 1999, the persecution of Falun Gong began. In November of 1999, officers from the Politics and Security Section in the police department came to Ms. Han's office. Under the pretext of a conversation with Ning Hongmao, the Secretary of Politics and Law Committee, they deceived her into going with them and then unlawfully detained her. Ten days later, the Politics and Security Section sent her to Baoding City Psychiatric Hospital, where four men held her down while she was injected with a drug that damaged the central nervous system. The drug made her so uncomfortable that she couldn't sit or lie down. She had to stand up for the whole night. During her two-week stay in the psychiatric hospital, Ms. Han was injected twice with this drug. She suffered severe mental and physical trauma from the torture.

(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Dafa practitioner Pei Fei, from Dunhua City, Jilin Province, was brutally tortured by policemen from the Minzhu Police Station and the local detention center. The following is a petition letter she wrote to the Standing Committee of the People's Congress in Jilin Province and the Provincial People's Procurator Office.

My name is Pei Fei, female. I was born on December 12, 1964. I'm 40 years old. I am a college graduate and used to be an official of the Huajin Textile Company Ltd. (formerly Linen and Cotton Textile Factory) in Jilin City, Jilin Province. Because I practice Falun Gong, the company forced me to resign from my post and move out of my dormitory.

I'm writing to you to disclose the illegal acts carried out by the Dunhua City Police Department, the Minzhu Police Station and Detention Center. They illegally searched my home, elicited information through torture, and used cruel means to interrogate me and collect evidence. They also tortured and beat me. I sincerely hope that the Procurator's Office will look into this and produce a fair resolution.

Around 8:30 at night on July 9, 2001, a precinct police officer from the local police station tricked me into opening the door of my younger brother's home, where I was temporarily staying. Over a dozen policemen, including the deputy police chief of Minzhu Police Station, Li Wenzong, and the police chiefs of Dunhua City Police Department and Jilin City Police Department, forced their way in. They took away my Falun Dafa books, Teacher Li's pictures, truth-clarification materials, and other personal items including some fabric. They left a big mess and took me to the Minzhu Police Station in Dunhua City.

The deputy police chief, Li Wenzong, and six other policemen brought me to the second room on the left of the second floor. They pushed me towards an Iron Chair. I said, "I don't want to sit on it. I just want to be a good person. You shouldn't treat me like this." But they handcuffed me to the back of the chair by twisting my hands behind my back. They then shackled me to the two legs of the chair with my feet not touching the ground so I was hanging on the chair. The six policemen started to beat me. Li Wenzong and a policeman with the last name of Du first hit me on my head and face. They used water bottles to hammer me and poured cold water on me. They put a plastic bag over my head to suffocate me for one to two minutes. They also hit me on my body and legs. I felt very dizzy. My mouth was filled with blood, and my teeth became loose (they later fell out). The beating left my legs with bruises as big as 10-20 centimeters (about 4-8 inches). One bruise was as big as 30-50 centimeters (about 12-20 inches). Later, I started to have seizures. The policemen said I was pretending. I had seizures for 3 hours, and they didn't even untie me. The next day, in the afternoon, Li Wenzong used high-voltage electric batons to shock me. I had blisters on my arms. I was not allowed to eat or drink, let alone to sleep. Whenever I closed my eyes, they would beat me. I was tied up like that twice, each time for over 50 hours. As a result, I felt dizzy, numb, and disoriented. My hands and feet were swollen and stiff. This abuse, plus other tortures I endured in the detention center led to my paralysis. I had to stay in bed for over 6 months. Only after over a year was I recovered. Even now, there are still hard bumps left in my legs. The policemen also deceived me into answering their questions while I was not fully conscious.

Another person who was directly involved in overseeing the persecution was the police chief, Ren Junfeng. He ignored the law and let his staff do whatever they wanted. If they heard that somebody was a Falun Gong practitioner, they would illegally search that person's home and arrest the person. If they found Falun Gong books or materials, they would use them as evidence for sending that person to prison or labor camp. They would also torture that person in order to get names of other practitioners so that they could arrest them.

Another perpetrator is the police chief of the Dunhua City Police Department. He himself said to me, "You have to tell us what we want. If not, we will make you. We are allowed to use whatever means." The head of the Interrogation and Investigation Section of the police squad, Bian Wenhai, openly demonstrated his willingness to torture Falun Gong practitioners. In the evening of July 12, he interviewed me. He told his staff in front of me, "We can use every means to torture her until she dies. Gag her while you punish her at night. If she dies, throw her out of the window. It's nothing if a Falun Gong practitioner dies." He also said, "Last time we had a practitioner here, we beat him for an hour, and then shocked him with electric batons for an hour. He lost consciousness; we poured water on him to wake him up and shocked him for another hour..."

Later I heard that that practitioner was tortured so badly that he could not even walk afterward. He was carried into the detention center and couldn't get up until over 20 days later.

I was brutally tortured at the Dunhua City Police Department Detention Center

On July 14, 2001, the associate head of the detention center, Liu Shiming, kicked me because I was practicing the Falun Gong exercises. He forcibly put handcuffs and foot shackles on me. The foot shackles were fixed to an iron ring on the ground. One of my hands was handcuffed to the other hand between my two legs. I couldn't stand up straight and could only sit on the ground with my legs bent. I couldn't stretch out my back. I was held to the ground like that for two days and two nights and was not allowed to use the bathroom. My hands and feet were swollen and numb. My toenails turned black.

On July 16, 2001, they started to force feed me (as a way to torture me). According to Liu Shiming, they used the same tubes that were used to feed pigs, to force feed me. The tubes were about 10-15 millimeters (0.4-0.6 inches) in diameter. They didn't even clean or disinfect them. This was not a medical procedure. They just forced the tubes into place. Four or five people held me down while I was still wearing the handcuffs and shackles. A policewoman pulled my head by my hair and stepped on my forehead with her leather boots. It was so painful. I felt extremely weak and almost passed out. The head of the detention center, Zhang Zuochen, ordered the detention center personnel to tie me to the "Dead Person's Bed." My arms and legs were spread in 4 directions and were handcuffed and shackled to a wood board so my hands and feet couldn't move. While I was on the "Dead Person's Bed," Bian Wenhai came to carry out another round of force-feeding. He said: "Hunger strike? Force-feed her 3 times a day. Don't bother pulling out the tubes. Let them stay there."

Liu Shiming force-fed me with milk powder mixed with half a bag of salt. I vomited up the tubes and milk powder. My esophagus, throat, and stomach burned. After that, I lost my voice, couldn't eat solid food, nor anything that was sweet or salty. Two days and one night later, they tricked me into stopping the hunger strike by lying to me, saying that they would release two practitioners who were detained because of me. Little did I know at the time, that they broke the law by issuing the release order and actually transferred the practitioners to a different place for detention. All the tortures left my body in a very weak condition. I couldn't talk or eat normally. My feet and legs were numb. I was paralyzed for over 6 months and didn't recover until one and a half years later. Even these injuries didn't stop them from illegally sentencing me to two years of forced labor.

This is how I was tortured at the Minzhu Police Station and the Dunhua City Police Department Detention Center. I only want to be a good person following the principles of "Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance." I want to be a physically and mentally healthy person. I always think of others first. Freedom of belief is the right given to its citizens by the Chinese Constitution. I didn't break any law and didn't do anything wrong.

Based on the above, I request that:

1. Return my personal items and reimburse me for my financial and psychological losses.

2. In order to maintain the law's integrity, please investigate the illegal acts carried out by the following people: the police chief of Dunhua City Police Department (his last name is Jin), head of the Interrogation and Investigation Section of the police squad, Bian Wenhai, the police chief of the Minzhu Police Station, Ren Junfeng, the deputy police chief, Li Wenzong, the policeman with the last name of Du, and the head and the associate head of the detention center, Zhang Zuochen and Liu Shiming. They violated basic human rights, used torture in interrogation, illegally searched my home, and robbed me of my personal belongings.

3. This appeal letter is also presented to the Jilin Provincial Ministry of Public Security, the Tonghua City Procurator's Office, the Standing Committee of the People's Congress in Tonghua City, the Jilin City Procurator's Office, the Standing Committee of the People's Congress in Jilin City and the Jilin City Municipal Government.

(Clearwisdom.net) The prison officials from all the prisons and labor camps in China have been persecuting Falun Dafa practitioners both psychological and physically, and Shijiazhuang No. 2 Prison in Hebei Province is no exception.

Many Falun Dafa practitioners are being illegally imprisoned at Shijiazhuang No. 2 Prison. The environment there is bad. Practitioners are being closely monitored and controlled. Because the evil is afraid of being exposed, physical tortures are no longer being applied openly. However, the psychological persecution has been intensified.

Around February 1, 2005, the leader of the No. 3 Squadron of the women's prison, Yi Jinxia, announced that groups of three people could use the restroom at the same time, but no two Dafa practitioners can be put in one group. This announcement led to protests from all the practitioners. Practitioner Chen Shufeng went on hunger strike; another practitioner, Yi Yuhui, refused to participate in any work, and other practitioners also went to the squadron leader to express their protest. Three days after Chen Shufeng started her hunger strike, the No. 3 Squadron published the group assignment so that practitioners could no longer go to the restroom together. Practitioners are being monitored even more closely than before.

One time, practitioner Pan Lizhu was deceived by a criminal inmate, Du Chongmei, and showed her some Falun Gong articles. Afterwards, Du reported Ms. Pan to the prison police. Around March 10, 2005, Pan Lizhu lost most of the articles she had hidden from the guards, including some of Teacher's recent articles. The squadron leader suspected that the articles were passed from the No. 4 Squadron, since the two squadrons usually have lunch fairly close to one another. As a result, the squadron leader paid closer attention to the practitioners, and also closely inspected any items that were brought into the prison. Around April 25, 2004, for more than ten consecutive days, everyone was body-searched after work. Although the guards claimed that they were searching for things such as knives, they were in fact searching for Falun Gong articles. This was because an ex-practitioner, Li Wenrei, handed over all her Falun Gong articles to the prison authorities. Li also told the police that another practitioner, Zhang Zhe, had Falun Gong articles and she told them where Ms. Zhang had hidden them. During the Labor Day and the National Holidays, all the inmates were strip-searched for Falun Gong articles.

There are many regulations in the prison that are specially set up to keep practitioners from communicating with each other. For example, all the inmates must take turns using the bathroom in pre-assigned groups. (There were 13 groups taking turns, and there could be no more than two practitioners in each turn.) No one can enter or exit the dormitory areas other than during designated hours. Inmates that are working in the Handcraft Workshop and Packaging Workshop no longer stop work at the same time, and they must have their meals separately from those who work in the Cloth Workshop. The people in the three workshops cannot get water at the same time; they must take turns. Practitioner Yi Yuhui was assigned to the Handcraft Workshop because she refused to work, and two people were assigned to monitor her. All of the above rules are intended to limit contact between practitioners so that they may be "transformed". In fact, these rules are all violations of human rights.

There was a report about practitioner Bai Yuzhi who went on hunger strikes multiple times. She almost lost her eyesight from the persecution before she got out of prison. In the prison, all practitioners must do the same amount of work regardless of whether they are "transformed" or not. But those practitioners who refuse to be "transformed" receive less than one fifth of the pay compared to those who are "transformed."

The prison regulation states that a prisoner can have meals with visiting family members at the prison cafeteria after one year of imprisonment. (The price of the cafeteria is several times more expensive than outside. The purpose is to make money for the prison.) But practitioners who refuse to be "transformed," or those who have not met the requirement of "transformation," are not allowed to have meals with visitors.

The majority of the cases mentioned above happened at the No. 3 Squadron of the Third Women's Prison Section, Shijiazhuang No. 2 Prison.

As Falun Dafa practitioners, we cannot accept this evil persecution. We all have the responsibility to expose the evil and reduce the persecution of our fellow practitioners. Let us expose the persecution in China and eliminate the evil.

(Clearwisdom.net) Local police arrested Dafa practitioner Ms. Zhang Shukun from the Economic and Technological Development District in mid-May. She encountered brutal tortures at the police station, such as being handcuffed behind the back and being force-fed with mustard solution. Nevertheless, she firmly sent righteous thoughts and successfully fled the station under Teacher's protection.

On the morning of May 23, 2005, Wang Jian and a police officer named Di from the Jiuzhan Police Station at the Economic and Technological Development District, together with a female head of the local residential committee, conned Ms. Zhang Shukun into opening the door. The lawless officials broke in and illegally searched her home. They took away Dafa books and materials and her daughter's computer. They abducted her husband and her daughter, neither of whom are Dafa practitioners. They also abducted Ms. Zhang, covered her head and detained her at the Jiuzhan Police Station.

On May 23 at 1 o'clock in the afternoon the police and local officials started interrogating Ms. Zhang, using torture methods. This process was continued until midnight. They tortured Ms. Zhang to force her to reveal the source of the Dafa materials. They shouted at her, "You say that we are tyrants? You are right. We want to be the tyrants!" They first gripped Zhang's fingers tight and handcuffed them, and then threw the handcuffs on the table with a force, which made them tighter and tighter (Re-enactment figure 1). Once they had tightened her fingers without any space left, they continually shook and twisted her hands and wrists so that, within no time, the skin on her hands turned blue and purple.

Then, police officers Wang and Di handcuffed Ms. Zhang's hands and feet separately onto a metal chair (Re-enactment figure 3). She was handcuffed behind the back in the "carrying a sword on the back" position: one hand was pulled over the shoulder and another hand came up from behind her back (Re-enactment figure 4). The pain was unbearable. The lawless officials were still not satisfied. They inserted a glass bottle into the gaps between the handcuffs and her back so that the extra pressure almost broke her arms. The handcuffs had by then cut deeply into her wrist, causing bleeding wounds (Re-enactment figure 5).

Police handcuffed Ms. Zhang' back against a metal chair and started force-feeding her with mustard solution. One police officer was pulling her head back using a white towel and another was holding her head in a fixed position and force-feeding her the mustard solution through her nostrils (figure 6). While Ms. Zhang resisted with all her strength, the mustard solution was force-fed into one nostril and came out another nostril. To complete the force-feeding, the police used keys to stab her underarms (Re-enactment figure 7) so that her underarms turned immediately blue and purple.

Ms. Zhang Shukun started loudly asking Teacher for help. Some police officer commented "How could we force-feed her with this mustard solution? I am already choked by the strong smell, but she seems to feel nothing." Without any success the police finally gave up. A moment later they tried to force-feed Ms. Zhang again twice. As a result, Ms. Zhang clothing was covered with mustard.

Next, the police forced Ms. Zhang to sit on the floor with her legs shackled. They found a mop and placed a mop on her shinbones. One officer stepped on the mop with one foot and ordered Ms. Zhang to tell the source of the Dafa materials. Receiving no response, the second police officer stepped on the mop and in the meantime rubbed the mop back and forth on her shinbones, which caused enormous pain, making her whole body tremble.

The police escalated their abuse since there was no sign of cooperation from Ms. Zhang. They placed a heavy iron rod horizontally on Ms. Zhang's shinbones and did the same thing as they did with the mop. The iron rod with the added weight of two people made Ms. Zhang's legs turn blue and purple, with bruises.

Police officer Di said to Ms. Zhang while he administered tortures, "Bumping into me today is equal to bumping into a ghost." He also boasted and intimidated her by saying, "We have only used one third of the torture methods among 18 of them. There are more to come!" These kinds of tortures continued until midnight.

By then, Ms. Zhang Shukun had endured excruciating pain. She said silently to Teacher, "I cannot stay here. I must leave here to save more beings." She continued sending righteous thoughts to let the guards fall asleep. A moment later the guards did fall into a deep sleep. Ms. Zhang pulled her feet out of the shackles, which were affixed to the metal chair and walked to a nearby door. When she attempted to pull it, the door opened and she fled the police station.

The day after she fled, officers from the Jiuzhan Police Station came to her family and attempted to get some information about where she was hiding. By then Ms. Zhang family simply did not know what had happened. When they went to the station and requested the release of Ms. Zhang, the police had threatened to arrest Ms. Zhang's family members and put them in custody.

(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Xin Huiming was a 53-year-old resident of Taishang Village, Henanzhai Town, Miyun County, Beijing. In late 1997, she was diagnosed with "pulmonary artery embolism" - an extremely rare disease. Expert doctors from many large well-known hospitals throughout the country could not help her. She was kept alive by injections and infusions. In January 1998, Ms. Xin started to practice Falun Dafa, after which her condition gradually improved and she could take care of herself. One year later, she completely recovered from the disease. Over 30 people around her who witnessed the miracle also started to practice Falun Dafa. After July 20, 1999, Ms. Xin went to many government offices at different levels to clarify the truth with her own experience. The local township police and 610 Office arrested her and sent her to the county detention center where she was tortured using various instruments such as high-voltage electric shocking devices. In 2000, Ms. Xin died as a result of the torture.

Mr. Gong Jiusheng, 63, was a resident of Beijingou Village, Henanzhai Town, Miyun County, Beijing. He was diagnosed with acute bone cancer in 1997. He received medical treatment at several big hospitals in Beijing, yet the specialist doctors could not help him. He became bed-ridden until he started to practice Falun Gong in 1998. After several months of practicing and studying the Fa, Mr. Gong recovered from the disease. After July 20, 1999, the township police and the local 610 Office arrested him and tortured him with electrical shock instruments. Mr. Gong's mind and body were seriously damaged and he passed away in early 2002.

Ms. Gong Shuzhen was a 52-year-old resident of Kanggezhuang Village, Tiangezhuang Town, Miyun County, Beijing. She started to practice Falun Gong in 2002, after which the township police, the local 610 Office, and village government officials arrested her and sent her to a brainwashing center. The torture she received in the brainwashing center seriously hurt her mind and body. As a result, she passed away on March 14, 2003 (Chinese Lunar Calendar).

Ms. Feng Nairu was an 87-year-old resident of Shengshuitou Village, Henanzhai Town, Miyun County, Beijing. Before she started to practice Falun Gong in 1998, she suffered from many diseases and could not take care of herself. One month after her daughter-in-law helped her get started in practicing and studying the Fa, all her diseases disappeared. After July 20, 1999, the police from the township police station and the 610 Office went to her home and harassed her many times. Once the police arrested her daughter-in-law and detained her in the county detention center. While making the arrest, they also beat and cursed the elderly woman. Ms. Feng was seriously injured from the beating and passed away in March 2000.

Ms. Zhao Xiuzhen was an 83-year-old resident of Dongyujiatai Village, Henanzhai Town, Miyun County, Beijing. She used to suffer from many diseases, including high blood pressure. As a result, she had to take many kinds of medication and she could not take care of herself. Several months after she started to practice Falun Gong in 1997, all her diseases disappeared. She enjoyed good health and persisted in practicing. After July 20, 1999, the township police and the 610 Office ransacked her home, extorted money from her, and arrested her many times. She also witnessed the brutal torture her son and daughter-in-law received. In addition, the police staff insulted and cursed Ms. Zhao. All of the above persecution seriously injured her mind and body. Ms. Zhao passed away in September 1999.

Ms. Zhang Fengmei was a resident of Pingtou Village, Henanzhai Town, Miyun County, Beijing. In 2000, while she was clarifying the truth and distributing truth-clarifying materials, a county police officer named Li arrested her and sent her to the county detention center. They then transferred Ms. Zhang to the Tiantanghe Forced Labor Camp (in Daxing County, Beijing) and brutally tortured her there. In April 2002, after torturing her to the verge of death, they sent her home. Ms. Zhang never recovered and passed away in early July 2002.

Ms. Luo Meiying, 57, was a family member of an employee of the Jinshajiang Forrest Product Company in Panzhihua City, Sichuan Province. Ms. Luo started to practice Falun Gong in 1999. In 2001, she distributed some truth-clarifying materials. On September 29, someone reported her activity to the police. On the same day, five police officers from the Geliping Police Station (including director Zhao Zhijiang, police officer Xun Lianbin, Fu Qiang, and two other officers) ransacked Ms. Luo's home and arrested her. They detained her in the Geliping Police Station for a day and transferred her to the city detention center on September 30, 2001. While Ms. Luo was detained, her husband Li Baofu went to the Geliping Police Station to request her release. Director Zhao Zhijiang said, "Her case can be considered either a small or big one; a big case can result in several years in jail." Mr. Li knew that Zhao was asking for money, so he bribed the related people in the police station and gave Zhao 5,000 yuan. As a result, Ms. Luo was fined 250 yuan and released on October 24, 2001. However, the police often went to her home after that, harassing and threatening her. Her husband worried about her safety, so he forbade her from going out and practicing Falun Gong. Since then, she almost never shared experiences with her fellow practitioners. Later, Ms. Luo suffered a relapse of those diseases she had before she became a practitioner. She died on May 29, 2004.

Ms. Yang Huirong, 59, lived in No. 33-3 Gongan Street, Fangzi District, Weifang City, Shandong Province. In 1995, she had an operation that removed a tumor from her breast, after which her body was very weak. In 1997, she started to practice Falun Gong. As a result, she slowly recovered. In late 2000, she went to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong. After she returned, she kept clarifying the truth to people. In the winter of 2002, her husband was arrested for making truth-clarifying materials. The police ransacked their home, extorted a huge amount of money from them, sentenced her husband to 3 years of forced labor, and harassed Ms. Yang many times at her home. The torture and harassment seriously damaged Ms. Yang's mind and body. She suffered from various symptoms and was sent to the emergency room of a hospital. There, she was diagnosed with uremia and her old diseases relapsed. She passed away on January 2, 2005.

Mr. Shi Weizhi, 68, was a resident of Shannan Village, Douhutun Town, Liaocheng City, Shangdong Province. He had many diseases such as hypertension and had suffered a stroke. Through practicing Falun Dafa, he recovered from those diseases. After July 20, 1999, his two daughters and son-in-law went to Beijing to validate Dafa. The police detained them and beat them. They also ransacked Mr. Shi's home and arrested his wife, his son, and his daughter-in-law. For some time, only Mr. Shi and his 9-year-old granddaughter were left at home. The police also pressured them to pay 5,000 yuan as a "fine" or bail. After that incident, his two daughters were arrested, detained and subjected to brainwashing many times. They were forced to leave home to avoid continued persecution. His son-in-law was sent to a forced labor camp. In order to arrest his two daughters, the persecutors went to Mr. Shi's home many times and threatened him, which greatly damaged his mental and physical health - he lived in fear and stress for a long period of time before passing away on June 18, 2005.

Mr. Han Zhiqing, 72, was a resident of Zhejiang Province. He recovered from all his previous diseases after starting to practice Falun Gong in 1996. After July 20, 1999, the police followed, monitored, and threatened him. They also ransacked his home twice. The torture he suffered seriously hurt his mind and body. Mr. Han died in February 2005.

Mr. Sun Shifeng, 51, was a resident of Liusan Village, Dongguoweichang, Panshan County, Panjin City, Liaoning Province. After July 20, 1999, Mr. Sun actively clarified the truth to people. As a result, the local police harassed and threatened him, which made him become physically sick. He died in April 2003.

Ms. Liu Shuyuan was a resident of the Sujiatun District, Shenyang City, Liaoning Province. She suffered from many diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, problems with blood vessels in the brain, eye disease, and problems with her cervical vertebra. She started to practice Falun Gong in 1997. After practicing for some time, all her diseases disappeared and she regained her health. After July 20, 1999, the police often went to her home and harassed her - they forbade her from practicing and forcibly got her fingerprints. Due to the prolonged persecution, Ms. Liu died on September 5, 2004.

Mr. Wei Shanyu, 71, was a resident of Dandong City, Liaoning Province. Because he'd had a stroke, he could not take care of himself. After he started to practice Falun Gong in 1997, his condition improved and he could take care of himself. After July 20, 1999, the local police went to his home many times. They harassed and threatened him. Mr. Wei died as a result. The police confiscated some truth-clarifying materials he made before his death.

Ms. Li Qiusheng was a resident of the Zaoqiang County Farm, Hebei Province. He suffered from an incurable disease. Through practicing Falun Gong, she regained her health. After July 20, 1999, some government officials harassed her. As a result, she suffered from a relapse and became critically ill. However, Ye Qingbao from her work unit still forced her to sign a statement guaranteeing that she would not to go to Beijing (to appeal for justice for Falun Gong); Ms. Li passed away some time after that.

5. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Five Practitioners Arrested

It has been verified that on May 10, 2005, five practitioners from Changchun City were arrested. They are Ms. Shan Lixin, Shan Yimin, Ms. Xin Xiuli, Ms. Jin Xiaoli and Ms. Zhao Shuyu. They were taken to the Changchun No. 3 Detention Center. Their homes were searched, and personal computers, printers and other equipment were confiscated.

It was reported that police arrested them while they were dining in a restaurant. The police found Falun Dafa documents they carried when searching them.

7. [Pingdu City, Shandong Province] Facts of Persecution against a Falun Gong Practitioner

In the winter of 1999, a Falun Gong practitioner in Pingdu City went to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong, was held in custody by the Pingdu "610 Office" for twelve days, and was fined 10,000 yuan. In addition, 10,000 yuan was deducted from the practitioner's salary.

From the spring of 2001 to the fall of 2003, the practitioner was sentenced to forced labor, expelled from the Party, and suspended from work. The Pingdu 610 Office and Police Department searched the practitioner's home twice and confiscated a personal computer, a motorcycle, and 4,500 yuan in cash. After release, nine months worth of salary was deducted from the practitioner's pay.

Ms. Yang Juying, 60, lives at No. 254 Danshui Road in Shanghai. She is a retired worker from the No. 7 Textile Machinery Factory. At around 4:00 p.m. on March 30, 2005, the local residential police talked her into going to the police station where they placed her under arrested because she continues to practice Falun Dafa and clarify the truth. Her home was subsequently ransacked.

May 9, 2005, several officers from Bin County, Heilongjiang Province broke into Ms. Xu Qingling's home. They found a large number of Falun Gong documents and arrested Ms. Xu at her workplace. Ms. Xu Qingling is being held in the local detention center.

10. [Hebei Province] Ms. Zhang Lishan, a Teacher at the Physics Department of Hebei Normal University, and Others Are Persecuted

Ms. Zhang Lishan is a teacher in the Physics Department of Hebei Normal University. On April 22, 2005, she went to the Electromechanical Institute to distribute truth clarifying materials. She was arrested. The police searched her home and confiscated a personal computer and other items. On April 28, the university expelled her and sent to a brainwashing center. Her husband Mr. Zhang Hongjie, who worked at the provincial government, was also arrested, expelled from the Party and fired.

On March 22, 2005, while mailing truth-clarifying materials at the Xinyang City Post Office, he was arrested by officers from the provincial 610 Office and the Xinyang City Police Department, who had been lying in wait. The officials ransacked his home and confiscated a large quantity of materials. Mr. Guan Xiaoguang is now being detained, interrogated, and tortured in the Xinyang City Detention Center.

Mr. Guan Xiaoguang is 26 years old and graduated from Kaifeng City Police Academy. He was sentenced to two years of forced labor in 2001 because his whole family went to Beijing to appeal. His parents are both in prison, his mother in Kaifeng City Fifth Women's Prison and his father in Xinmi City Men's Prison. Mr. Guan was released less than one year before this second arrest.

This 65-year-old practitioner was tortured to death. Police forced his family members to sign the cremation form, ransacked his home twice, and injured his son. The story follows:

Mr. Cheng Xueshan was from Jinchuna Township, Tongjiang City, Heilongjiang Province. On April 5, 2005, he was reported for passing out truth clarifying materials on the bus from Tongjiang City to Nongqiao Town, Fuyuan County. Police officer Zhang Siyuan (male) and others, waiting at the Nongqiao Town Station, beat Mr. Cheng severely and injured him. That afternoon, police from Jinchuan Township Substation ransacked Mr. Cheng Xueshan's home and confiscated a large quantity of items, including a VCD and a printer. Later that same day, officials from the Fuyuan County, Tongjiang City Political and Judiciary Committee and the 610 Office, together with officers from Jinchuan Township, broke into his house and ransacked it again. They wounded Mr. Cheng's son and took the TV set. At 9 a.m. on April 12, Mr. Cheng was tortured to death in the Fuyuan County Detention Center. Police notified his family that afternoon around 5 p.m., let them take a brief look at his body, and then forced them to sign the cremation form.

She was forced to leave her teaching position upon returning from the brainwashing class. In 2003, she passed the entrance examination with the top score to be a graduate student in the Education Department at Northeast Normal University. Due to her faith in Falun Dafa, she was rejected.

On May 24, 2005, she was once again abducted from her work to a brainwashing class by the College CCP Committee, the Changchun City 610 office, and the Nanguan District 610 Office, because she refused to write the Guarantee Statement. She is now on a hunger strike to protest.

13. [Qingzhou City, Shandong Province] Ms. Xu Zhihua and Her Husband Both Arrested

Practitioner Ms. Xu Zhihua is from the Qingzhou City Aluminum Factory. Officials from the Shandong Province 610 office, the Weifang City 610 Office, and the Qingzhou City 610 Office recently arrested her. The police confiscated all the valuable possessions in her home, such as a computer, etc. Her husband was also detained for sending her food.

14. [Beijing City] Mr. Li Zhitong and Others from Mentougou District Arrested

Practitioner Mr. Li Zhitong from Junxiang Village and Mr. Jia Zhengli from Dongzhaitang Village (both in the Mentougou District) were reported and arrested by police officers when clarifying the truth to people.

Practitioners Mr. Wang Huaijin and Ms. Tan Shuyun (both from Dongzhaitang Village) were arrested recently and are now being detained in the Tuanhe Labor Camp.

15. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Prison Guards in Tiebei Prison in Changchun City Brutally Tortured Mr. Chen Liwei

On March 14, 2005, prison guards found several pages of Master Li's teachings in Mr. Chen Liwei's possessions. He was locked in a small cell when he absolutely refused to tell his source. He was handcuffed and hung up against a wall. Prison guard Ding (male) interrogated him while torturing him with an electric baton. Mr. Chen was sent to the Prison Detective Office, where officers poured mustard oil twice into his nose. He was released from the small cell on April 14.

16. [Rongcheng City, Shandong Province] Ms. Yu Hongzhen and Others Arrested and Sent to Forced Labor Camp

On March 8, 2005, police officers Han Mengfa (male) and Song Xiujie (male) from Shangzhuang Town Substation of Rongcheng City arrested practitioners Ms. Yu Hongzhen from Liu Jiadian Village, Ms. Gao Peirong from Zhongguzhang Village, Ms. Sun Yongling from Maoliujia Village, and Ms. Wang Renzhi from Dongshangzhuang Village. The officers accused them of "illegal gathering" and sent them to Rongcheng City Detention Center. Their families tried many times to rescue them, but the police have already sent Ms. Yu Hongzhen, Ms. Gao Peirong and Ms. Wang Renzhi to Wangcun Women's Labor Camp in Zibo City, Shandong Province. The whereabouts of Ms. Sun Yongling are unknown.

Practitioner Mr. Wang Jian from Taicong City has been sentenced to four years in prison by Suzhou City Court for passing out nine truth clarifying VCDs with stickers.

On May 27, 2005, practitioner Ms. Zhang Fengzhi from the Daoli District was reported and arrested by police officers.

On May 13, 2002, practitioner Ms. Wang Jinfeng from the Wulong District in Fuxin City was reported and arrested when passing out truth clarifying materials in Shuiquan Township. She was held in the Fuxin Detention Center and sentenced to three years of forced labor because she refused to give up her cultivation. She was later transferred to Masanjia Labor Camp, where she was tortured with an electric baton and locked in a small cell. Ms. Wang Jinfeng has been on a hunger strike since the beginning of May.

22. [Linjiang City, Jilin Province] Ms. Liu Minglan Arrested

On the afternoon of May 25, 2005, practitioner Ms. Liu Minglan from Linjiang City was arrested by police.

23. [Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province] Ms. Fu Jinfeng Arrested and Sentenced to Forced Labor Again

Practitioner Ms. Fu Jinfeng is 44 years old, an employee of Nanchang City Blood Center. She went to Beijing to appeal twice after July 20, 1999, and was twice held in the Nanchang City Detention Center located on Erqibei Street. She was arrested again in 2000 when passing out truth clarifying materials and sentenced to 18 months of forced labor. She never gave in even when she was tortured with death roll shackles in the detention center or with the Big Hang-Up (1) in the camp. She was released after an extended term of three months.

In September 2003, her employer and local police abducted her to a brainwashing class held inside the Nanchang City Police Academy. She escaped from that class with the help of righteous thoughts. Under tremendous pressure from the 610 Office, her employer stopped paying her salary for several months and has never paid her the full amount since. In September 2004, police officers from the Yuzhang Substation arrested her from work and sentenced her to two and a half years of forced labor in Chengnan Women's Labor Camp after detaining her for one month.

24. [Chifeng City, Inner-Mongolia Autonomous District] Ms. Qu Xiuqin and Others Arrested

On April 16, 2004, practitioner Ms. Xu Xiuqin from Jianchangying Town in the Yuanbaoshan District was arrested by police under the building near Songshan Second High School where an elderly fellow practitioner named Zhang (gender unknown) lives. Practitioner Zhang's home is under surveillance. In the past, the police had put Ms. Xu on a "Wanted" list and broadcast her information on TV, offering a 100 thousand-yuan reward for her capture.

On the afternoon of May 17 and the morning of May 18, 2005, several practitioners were arrested at the same location.

25. [Leshan City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Cui Xiaoping on a Hunger Strike and Being Tortured

Practitioner Ms. Cui Xiaoping is in her 40s and formerly employed by the Leshan City Education Bureau. Since July 20, 1999, she has been arrested many times, detained, and sentenced to three years of forced labor. She was released from the forced labor camp in June 2003 and wrote to the local government asking for her job back. She clarified the truth to people and wrote letters of appeal. For those reasons, the officers from the local 610 Office and police kept harassing her. In August 2004, Ms. Cui Xiaoping was arrested again. She went on a hunger strike for more than 20 days and was tortured until she weighed only 65 pounds.

On December 14, 2004, the Leshan City Middle District Court sentenced Ms. Cui Xiaoping to six years of forced labor and sent her to the Yangmahe Women's Labor Camp in Jianyang City, Sichuan Province. She has been on a hunger strike ever since and has been sent to the Yangmahe Hospital.

26. [Liangshan Prefecture, Sichuan Province] Mr. Wu Shihai Is Arrested, and His Family Mistreated

On April 6, 2005, the police arrested practitioner Mr. Wu Shihai and ransacked his home. Mr. Wu is a teacher employed by Zhaojue County Normal School, Liangshan Prefecture, Sichuan Province. Police officers sent an "arrest notice" to him on April 27, 2005. Mr. Wu Shihai was tortured and then taken to a hospital for emergency treatment. His mother Long Tingzhen was tortured as well by the Yuexi County police in Liangshan Prefecture.

Ms. Long Tingzhen has been sentenced to one year of forced labor by the Zhaojue County 610 Office. Mr. Wu's younger sister Ms. Wu Shilian has been sentenced to two years of forced labor by the Yuexi County 610 Office. Mr. Wu Shihai has been detained many times and twice sentenced to forced labor. During one of his labor camp terms, he was tortured by being locked in a mental hospital for nine months and injected with nerve damaging drugs.

(1) There are two forms of the Big Hang-Up torture: 1) With both hands cuffed behind the back and only toes touching the ground, the practitioners is hung by a rope that is tied to a window frame; 2) One of a practitioner's hands is cuffed to one bunk bed and the other to another bed, and the two beds are pulled in opposite directions. The pain is excruciating as the body is pulled apart.

Facts of the Persecution

Practitioner Ms. Tong Li still held at the Jiamusi Forced Labor Camp

Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Tong Li, 47 years old, worked in the financial department of the Hualian Hotel. Police abducted her in mid-May 2002. She has been brutally tortured in Jiamusi Forced Labor Camp for over three years. One of the tortures is the "Forced Backbend," a very painful form of torture in which one arm is pushed down the back behind the head and the other pushed up to meet it from the lower back. The hands are cuffed together to cause unbearable pain. For a long time Ms. Tong could only walk with assistance because her ankles were severely swollen. She needed help walking and every step caused her great pain.

During the 2005 Chinese New Year, Ms. Tong Li ran a fever and had a headache. Around January 8, 2005, Team Eight personnel tortured the practitioners. Ms. Tong could not sit on a stool and fell off it twice, so she lay on the cold tile floor for a whole day. Liu Yadong, the head of Team Eight, didn't allow her to sleep in bed or sit on a cushion. Despite Ms. Li's condition, they didn't allow her to speak to anyone. During the day they refused to let her rest. If she even slightly relaxed her back, the guards and the inmates would hurl insults at her. Ms. Tong Li has been illegally detained for over three years, yet Liu Yadong has said that Tong Li will have her sentence extended by at least 100 days. Right now, 41 female practitioners and about 20 male practitioners are being held at the Jiamusi Forced Labor Camp. They are being ruthlessly tortured like Tong Li and are deprived of all personal freedom.

Practitioner and teacher Ms. Che Di falls critically ill as officials from the Beijing Road Police Station in Jilin City arrest her at her elementary school

Dafa practitioner Ms. Che Di is around 30 years of age. She is a teacher at the No. 25 Elementary School in the Chuanying District in Jilin City. On June 17, 2005, officers from the Beijing Road Police Station in the Chuanying District broke into the school and tried to force Ms. Che Di to slander Dafa and give up her belief in Dafa. Ms. Che refused, and the authorities arrested her. As they were taking her away, Ms. Che suddenly lost consciousness and fell on the ground at the school. Other teachers rushed her to the hospital emergency room, while the police officers hurriedly left. A large expense was incurred as the hospital thoroughly examined Ms. Che. Because she was in critical condition, the hospital admitted her after administering emergency treatment.

Wu Xuguo, former head of the Fangzi District Education Bureau in Weifang City, persecutes practitioners

Wu Xuguo, former head of the Fangzi District Education Bureau in Weifang City, personally participated in the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in the education system. In 2001, Wu Xuguo actively followed orders from the government. He organized the teachers and students in the Fangzi District to sign their names supporting an anti-Falun Gong movement and forced the teachers and students to watch Dafa-slandering videos. In late 2001, Wu Xuguo cooperated with the district 610 Office and the 610 Office at the police department in abducting Li Maiying and Du Jiqun, two practitioners who are employees of the Education Bureau. They sent the practitioners to the Weifang City 610 Office and deducted 2,000 yuan from their salaries for "reform fees." Wang Quanfeng and Zhao Chenglin from the Fangzi District Police Department extorted 10,000 yuan from Du Jiqun's family. In June 2002, Mr. Du Jiqun was sentenced to four years in prison. His daughter, who is attending middle school, is left uncared for. In March 2002, Wu Xuguo ordered Liu Qingjian, principal of the No. 12 Middle School, to cooperate with the district 610 Office in abducting Zhao Xuemei, a popular teacher, to a brainwashing class. In May 2002, Zhao Xuemei was fired and forced to leave home. In late 2004, practitioner Li Maiying was sentenced to forced labor for clarifying the truth.
